Chapter 79: The Return of the Beast Tide

With a roar, countless consciousnesses seemed to awaken in the forest. In an instant, tens of thousands of perceptions fell upon Qian Ye, and in the dark shadows, innumerable pairs of eyes watched him. Deep underground, an ancient and profound will slowly stirred.

These perceptions and gazes were not formless; they descended on Qian Ye like layers of spider webs ensnaring prey. He felt his body suddenly grow heavy, as if he could no longer move freely. Moreover, the intangible webs continued to multiply, increasing the resistance.

Qian Ye made a swift decision, turned, and dashed away. In a moment, he was thousands of meters away, finally shaking off the clinging sensation.

This forest was much larger than the previous one, with three holy trees at its center, as spoken by the beasts. From the feeling just now, this must be a nest of the beasts, with many of them, like the six-armed creature, in hibernation. But now, Qian Ye had awakened them all, and the base was likely to face a tide of beast attacks.

Returning to the base, Qian Ye immediately summoned all the generals to reorganize the defenses. He utilized all the stored beast blood glands and reserves to accelerate the conversion of the soldiers and transferred fifty thousand warriors into the new world, reinforcing the base. To strengthen the defense, he even brought in a miniature power tower, using it as an energy source for several ship cannons dismantled from the escort ships.

Within a night, Qian Ye’s base was bolstered with a hundred thousand defenders, and over a dozen turrets were erected. The camp was dotted with dozens of rapid-fire cannons, all fully loaded with ammunition. Qian Ye and Carol coordinated from the center, ready to respond to the possible appearance of the six-armed creature.

As the new day dawned, Qian Ye’s sense of foreboding grew. Finally, a grayish-black tide appeared on the distant horizon.

A beast tide!

The base sounded an alarm, and all the soldiers took their positions, silently awaiting the arrival of the beast tide.

Carol and Qian Ye floated side by side in the air, watching the surging beast tide. “So many! At least a hundred thousand, right?”

Qian Ye also observed, then said, “Their formation is a bit chaotic.”

“Could there be a problem with their command system?” Carol asked.

“Unknown. Regardless, it’s good news. They’re coming, prepare for battle!”

“Should we bring Zhu Ji?”

Qian Ye hesitated for a moment, then shook his head, “Not yet. We can handle this one.”

The rolling beast tide finally crossed the vast wilderness and crashed against Qian Ye’s defensive line. The battle erupted instantly. Winged beasts and floating, spiky beasts soared over the front line, attacking the base’s interior.

But what awaited them were sixteen rapid-fire cannons and countless force bullets. The rapid-fire cannons spewed long fire whips, sweeping back and forth in the air, decimating the beasts in large numbers. Those that managed to penetrate the fire net faced a second barrage from force guns.

Those who entered the new world first were the elite among humans and mercenaries. While they might not match the werewolves in physical strength, their shooting skills far surpassed them. With a steady supply of solid force bullets, these shooters expended less force, each capable of firing multiple shots. Faced with powerful force guns, neither the winged beasts nor the spiky beasts could withstand the blasts, falling to the ground one by one.

The few beasts that broke through the death line suddenly found themselves facing thousands of heavily armored werewolves wielding steel shields and battle axes. These werewolves were noticeably larger and more powerful, with superior combat skills. They were natural warriors, now armed to the teeth, making them formidable opponents. The beasts that landed were no match for them.

At the front, swarms of small, fast-moving beasts collided with the armored frontline, scattering blood and flesh. A dozen rapid-fire cannons fired continuously from the flanks, shredding the beast groups. The wolf warriors held their heavy shields and large-caliber force pistols, firmly resisting the beast tide.

The beasts, unable to advance or retreat, suffered heavy casualties, turning roars into wails. The subsequent beasts, resembling war horses, were blocked by the front group, unable to reach the line, but were hit by flank fire, suffering grievous losses.

Seeing this, Qian Ye nodded. “Their command is indeed problematic. Not only is their formation disorganized, but the coordination between different types of beasts is lacking. This is completely different from the two previous assaults.”

In the previous two beast tides, the various beast types cooperated seamlessly, overwhelming Qian Ye with relentless attacks. Only his massive numerical advantage allowed him to achieve such outstanding results.

This time, the beast tide’s assault was far more chaotic, a mere mob compared to the previous waves. Although there were a hundred thousand beasts, they were no match for Qian Ye’s optimized defensive base. The beast tide’s movements were delayed, some beasts obeying orders, others continuing their original assault, leading to confusion.

Carol had a sudden realization, quickly reviewing the events since entering the new world. “Could the stone chair you destroyed have been the command tool for the beast army?”

“Possible,” Qian Ye mused.

Suddenly, the ground trembled, and a massive figure emerged in the distance, surrounded by white mist. It was a towering figure, like a small mountain, striding towards the line. Any beast in its path was either knocked aside or crushed into pulp.

The werewolf chieftain on the front line let out a howl, “That’s a dread beast! A dread beast!”

This dread beast had immense defenses, repelling the cannon fire without being hindered. Its advance was unstoppable.

Carol snorted, gripping her thunderwhip, ready to engage. Qian Ye held her hand, saying, “Wait, let’s see.”

From the central turret, a series of dull thuds sounded, like ancient war drums. Bright meteors shot from the turret, striking the dread beast. This was a heavy cannon, taken from the escort ship, far more powerful than the rapid-fire cannons.

Cannonballs rained down on the dread beast, causing it to stagger and roar in pain. It managed to charge forward a short distance before collapsing with a mournful cry.

The main cannon fired several more times until the dread beast lay still, then ceased.

With the dread beast down, the beast horde became chaotic. Some began to circle, unsure whether to attack or retreat. The beast tide’s offensive waned, and the remaining beasts on the front line, without reinforcements, were soon annihilated.

Seeing the situation under control, Qian Ye gazed into the distance, where a small group of beasts remained motionless. His eyes turned cold, “Found them, the beast commanders are there!”

Without waiting for Qian Ye, Carol already had her thunderwhip in hand, streaking forward. She moved so fast that her long whip trailed behind. Qian Ye flashed several times, appearing above the group of beasts.

These beasts resembled armored warhorses. They looked similar to the ordinary fighters, but their bodies were covered in scales, with bladed horns and hooves that seemed to tread on clouds, giving them an almost divine appearance.

Seeing Qian Ye appear, these beasts leaped into the air, preparing to escape through the void.

Qian Ye let out a low roar, and the surroundings became searing hot, with a mountainous pressure pulling each beast back to the ground. In Qian Ye’s domain, attempting to fly without countering with domain power was a joke. Despite their ability to wield force, these beasts could not resist the terrifying pressure of Qian Ye’s domain.

As Qian Ye pulled the beasts back, Carol arrived, her thunderwhip sweeping across, covering the area in a wave of lightning. The beasts, though resistant, were knocked to the ground. Without their force resistance, they would have been reduced to charcoal by Carol’s lightning.

Despite the victory, Qian Ye frowned, scanning the beasts, his gaze settling on a particularly robust one.

Qian Ye lunged, with his mighty weapon aimed at the head of the beast.

The beast suddenly leaped, deflecting the strike with its bladed horn. Qian Ye, in mid-air, was unexpectedly pushed back by the beast’s horn.

But Carol, anticipating this, struck the beast’s hind leg with her whip, causing it to cry out and rear up. The beast kicked, sending Carol’s whip flying.

Carol, surprised, realized that the full force of her whip hadn’t broken the beast’s leg. Such a robust body, if not for its limited abilities, would have been a formidable foe.

Distracted by Carol’s attack, the beast’s movements slowed. Suddenly, a black feather pierced its brain.

The beast groaned, thrashing and kicking in agony. Carol lashed again, striking the same spot. This time, a crack was heard, and the beast’s hind leg snapped.

The beast shuddered, with protrusions appearing on its back, growing higher. Something seemed to be emerging. Qian Ye, observing from the air, suddenly plummeted, slashing the beast’s back, creating a long wound.

Without looking back, Qian Ye fired another shot, embedding a pale black feather into the wound. The primal shot exploded, causing the beast to shoot into the sky and crash down.

“Des…pi…cable…” a familiar voice echoed in Qian Ye’s mind.
