After the confrontation between Suosa and Qian Ye, each of them pondered their next move, while the others were far from idle.
A flash of a blade suddenly appeared in Yuetong’s hand, only to be blocked by the Wall of Sighs. Duke Brox stared at her and said, “Your opponent is me.”
“Me?”
“Indeed. Even though you wield a holy relic, you are not yet a duke.” Brox extended a finger, and multiple Walls of Sighs appeared in front of him, blocking each of the terrifying blade lights.
Brox stood suspended in the air, one hand behind his back, using only a single hand to weave through the air. With a flick of his finger, a Wall of Sighs would appear, and with a gentle wave, it would move and cut.
As a near-overlord level ancestral ability of the demon clan, the Wall of Sighs in Brox’s hands had undergone new transformations. It could be thick and square, or thin as paper, and when shot out, it became a potent offensive weapon. This transcended the Jeruson family’s defense-focused tactics and hinted at an integrated attack and defense.
The almost unbreakable blade light of Jingmeng, after being weakened by the multiple Walls of Sighs, significantly diminished in power. Even if it landed on Brox, he could accept it calmly.
Duke Brox looked at his body, where a shallow mark was left on his armor after the blade light passed. He laughed arrogantly, “A holy relic is indeed a holy relic. It managed to damage my armor, so defeating you won’t be easy. However, you have only recovered to the rank of a duke. Jingmeng has been with the King of Blue since ancient times, and even if it is in your hands now, I doubt it will recognize you. How many more strikes can you manage with your strength?”
“Renault…”
“Indeed, the King of Blue was a worthy and powerful figure, but it was such a pity that he fell for your sake; it was rather meaningless,” Brox said without the condescension he had shown towards Suosa. Renault’s final battle, where he overpowered the Eternal Flame and the Lord of Mesfield, even at the cost of his life, earned him respect from his adversaries.
As they spoke of the King of Blue, Yuetong’s eyes grew colder, her long hair swaying without a breeze, and her pupils reflected the image of Duke Brox.
“The Eye of Destruction? It won’t work on me,” Duke Brox sneered, creating a Wall of Sighs in front of him. In Yuetong’s vision, Duke Brox disappeared.
Successfully blocking the gaze of the Eye of Destruction, Brox’s confidence wavered, and a sense of unease filled him. He suddenly felt something, glanced up from behind the Wall of Sighs, and saw an endless expanse of blade light rolling toward him!
Brox was greatly surprised. Was this Jingmeng? Could Jingmeng be used like this?!
He didn’t have time to count how many blades Yuetong had unleashed in that instant. Regardless, such a large expanse of blade light, whether it was eighty or a hundred, was more than he could handle.
With Jingmeng unleashed, Duke Brox knew that dodging or fleeing was futile; he could only block it head-on.
In a moment, his hair seemed to explode, and demonic energy surged like a volcano. Multiple Walls of Sighs appeared before him. But he only managed to create four before the blade light reached him.
The flood of blade light instantly overwhelmed the few Walls of Sighs, engulfing Duke Brox.
As the dreamlike blade light dissipated, Duke Brox stood still, seemingly unharmed. Yet, his gaze toward Yuetong was filled with resignation and regret.
Yuetong’s aura had plummeted to its lowest, her blood energy almost depleted. Duke Brox, on the other hand, remained relatively strong, having only expended less than a third of his demonic energy in a critical moment. From this, it was clear that Duke Brox’s remaining strength far surpassed Yuetong’s, leaving her with no power to fight.
However, it was Duke Brox who smiled bitterly, asking, “How did you do it?”
Yuetong patted Jingmeng, “This blade, I lent it to Renault.”
Brox was incredulous, then realization dawned on him, muttering, “So… it was like this.”
His body leaned forward slightly, and he collapsed, his armor shattering into dust as he fell, revealing no injuries. The previously abundant demonic energy, now unrestrained, dissipated into darkness, vanishing into the void.
Duke Brox, a genius of the demon clan, held a status similar to Aven in his youth, rarely finding an equal among his peers and sometimes even matching princes in combat. Knowing that Yuetong had achieved a second awakening and possessed the ability to instantly kill ordinary dukes, he still dared to face her alone, relying on his higher-level origin power.
But he never imagined that his estimation of Yuetong was far too low. Jingmeng, notoriously difficult to control, was originally Yuetong’s possession in ancient times.
During the confrontation, Yuetong unleashed dozens of strikes in an instant, depleting all her blood energy, combining the power of dozens of strikes into one, with unparalleled might. Meanwhile, Brox could only unleash less than a third of his demonic energy in the same moment.
Yuetong’s dark golden blood energy was on par with the dark origin, while Duke Brox’s demonic energy, though extremely pure, was still a level below hers. Such a vast gap made it impossible for him to match Yuetong.
A generation of demon clan heroes, thus perished.
While this was happening, Suosa and Qian Ye were still thinking.
They turned to look at the place where Duke Brox had fallen. Surprisingly, Suosa showed neither anger nor surprise, but a mocking glint in his eyes.
“I thought he would just lose, but I didn’t expect him to die so cleanly. It seems he hasn’t faced a real opponent in years.”
“I thought you’d be worried about the unfavorable battle situation.”
Suosa chuckled, “Without that obstacle, I can show my true capabilities. Killing you will give me a good account with the Demon Emperor, so he won’t blame me for their deaths.”
“Duke Brox is dead. Do you still have the confidence to kill us?”
“Why not? I was a bit wary of Yuetong, but she drained herself of blood energy to kill Brox. Even if she has secret techniques, it will take time to recover. In that time, I can kill you several times over.”
Qian Ye sneered, “You’re really confident.”
Suosa replied calmly, “If you think that light feather-like technique from last time could hurt me, you’re wrong. Besides, you can’t use that attack more than a few times, can you?”
“You can try.”
“Of course I will, but your sword seems to be broken.”
Countless golden-green blood droplets appeared in front of Qian Ye, coalescing into a golden green sword, which embedded itself in the ground.
Howard’s figure materialized, saying, “Use my sword. I’m old and don’t need it much anymore.”
Suosa was slightly taken aback, looking at Howard with narrowed eyes, “So, you’ve become this weak. Instead of hiding and bathing in a blood pool, you wander around, tired of living?”
“At this point, what’s the big deal about dying in battle? Better than you wolves, who, after being humiliated in the New World, eagerly run to pick up a bone thrown by the Demon Emperor.”
Every wolfman detested being called a dog. Suosa’s face darkened, “It seems that the battle years ago didn’t rid you of your baseless arrogance.”
Howard smiled, “I may not have won, but I didn’t lose either. As a grand lord, if I couldn’t defeat you, I heard you had a hard time in front of the Wolf Ancestor.”
Suosa’s expression grew even uglier, “Once I kill this little guy, I’ll make your process incredibly long and painful. As for her, since the Demon Emperor didn’t give specific instructions, perhaps I can taste the difference of an ancient figure.”
Qian Ye pulled out Howard’s sword, shouting, “To think a grand lord could be so shameless!”
“And? You want to kill me?”
Yuetong said, “Qian Ye, stay calm.”
Suosa smiled, licking his lips, “Calm? No use. Unless she flees now, she will eventually fall into my hands.”
Yuetong, unperturbed, said, “Keep talking, and I’ll recover.”
“Fine, if you want a quick death, I’ll oblige.”
Suosa stepped in front of Qian Ye, slapping down with his large hand, just as before.
As he started, Qian Ye’s figure flashed, evading the attack range with a pre-emptive void flash. But as Qian Ye’s figure blurred, ready to disappear, the force generated by Suosa’s palm was twice as strong, dragging Qian Ye out of the void and back under his palm!
Qian Ye, slightly startled, knelt on one knee, holding the golden green sword, its tip upward, to meet Suosa’s palm!
A muffled sound echoed, and the earth shook. Suosa’s hand smashed the ground, creating a massive crater dozens of meters wide.
Qian Ye was nowhere to be seen, buried deep in the ground. But on Suosa’s hand, a piece of the sword blade, the very one belonging to Howard, protruded.
Suosa grunted, lifting his hand, pulling it off the blade. The wound healed immediately, without a drop of blood. In the center of the crater, Qian Ye remained in his original position, embedded in the rock.
A cold light flashed in Suosa’s eyes as he raised his right foot, stepping directly on Qian Ye. Howard’s sword, sharp and nearly divine, was meaningless against the body of a wolf grand lord. Its sharpness often came at the cost of durability, and a few more clashes with Suosa might yield different results.
Qian Ye’s figure flickered, disappearing from the pit. Suosa roared, generating a terrifying gravitational pull, once again dragging Qian Ye out of the void, and stomping down!
A loud boom, and the mountain sank several meters. Suosa’s massive body almost sank into the ground, the force of his stomp akin to a battleship crashing into the ground. Suosa excelled in physical strength and power, and he had honed these to the extreme, with every move carrying the power to crush mountains and fill seas.
In the hard-as-steel Dawnlight, if this were the middle continent, Suosa’s stomp could easily crush a mountain.
Yet, after the stomp, Suosa found no sign of triumph. He lifted his right foot, only a deep footprint in the ground, and Qian Ye was nowhere to be found.
Suosa looked up, seeing a black light feather rushing toward him in the air.
