Chapter 235: A Temporary Farewell

“Queen of Spiders.”

Qian Ye did not raise his head but instead looked down at himself. He and Little Zhu Ji were unknowingly entangled in pale, translucent silver spider silk, which had dragged them back from the void.

Then he lifted his gaze to the faintly visible shadow in the air.

At this moment, the Queen of Spiders was in human form, her silver, pupil-less eyes looking down from above. Although the Queen’s human form could be described as perfect, no one watching would have the heart to admire it. Her ten-meter-tall body exuded a terrifying aura, even more so than that of Lothar standing nearby.

“I never expected even you would appear. It seems my value is much higher than I thought,” Qian Ye said.

The Queen of Spiders spoke slowly, “Your value is immeasurable, but that is for the Demon Emperor. In my eyes, there are things more important than you. If you cooperate well, you can also survive.”

Qian Ye was not intimidated by the Queen’s imposing presence. He raised his head and gazed into those silver eyes, saying, “What you have here is just a projection. Killing me won’t be that easy.”

As he spoke, gray feathers appeared on Qian Ye’s body, dissolving the spider silk.

The Queen smiled, “Courage in the young is a good thing. But all I need to do is restrict your void blink. If we really fight, Lothar will take care of that. Besides, even if you escape, she won’t be able to.”

Qian Ye’s heart sank, and he unconsciously tightened his grip on Little Zhu Ji. He had already noticed that while he could clear the spider silk from himself, he couldn’t do the same for Little Zhu Ji. With his void blink, he might escape, but Little Zhu Ji definitely wouldn’t.

Seeing the change in Qian Ye’s expression, the Queen smiled again, “No need to be so tense. The Demon Emperor wants the Black Book, but I have no interest in it. I’m here to cooperate, not to kill you. Of course, before we cooperate, I can show some sincerity.”

“Cooperate? Sincerity?” Qian Ye frowned slightly.

“Exactly.” The Queen flicked her fingers, and several strands of spider silk shot out, instantly piercing the bodies of the living secret sword messengers on the ground.

As the spider silk entered their bodies, these messengers did not even react. Their original force suddenly became uncontrollable, and the secret techniques for self-destruction activated on their own. After several loud explosions, they were obliterated.

“Now that the nuisances are gone, we can talk about business.” The Queen raised her left hand, and Little Zhu Ji floated up, landing in her grasp.

Qian Ye’s arms suddenly felt light, and his face changed. Light flashed in front of him, and the Dragon’s Tomb and Verdant Blood Sword appeared in his hands. However, hesitating, he did not dare to attack.

In the air, in the huge projected hand, Zhu Ji, like a little cat, bared her teeth and claws, growling in threat.

The Queen watched her with great interest, and Lothar’s eyes lit up. As a member of the spider demons, not being suppressed by the Queen’s aura, Zhu Ji’s bloodline was undoubtedly strong.

“What is your name, little one?” the Queen asked.

“I am Zhu Ji! I tell you, if you bully me and Dad again, I’ll…” Zhu Ji bared her white fangs.

“Biting isn’t as useful as spitting venom,” the Queen smiled and suggested.

Little Zhu Ji looked at her and then at Lothar, saying, “It won’t work on you or him.”

“How perceptive,” the Queen praised, and then flicked another strand of spider silk, asking, “Can you use this?”

Zhu Ji’s small face was confused. After thinking for a while, she tried to flick it, but instead of spider silk, a line of blood shot out.

This not only surprised the Queen and Lothar, but also Qian Ye. The blood line shot by the little one was not ordinary; it was imbued with life drain, one of the top talents of the blood clan.

Lothar’s brows furrowed, while the Queen examined Little Zhu Ji intently, her gaze penetrating as if she could see through her entirely.

After a moment, the Queen said, “She has the bloodline of an ancient blood clan, but her essence is still that of a spider demon. How did these two bloodlines fuse together?”

Lothar, upon hearing, felt joy. As long as the little one remained a spider demon, the ancient bloodline was just a bonus. An ability like life drain, both offensive and defensive, was always welcome.

As for how two bloodline abilities appeared in the same individual, the world is vast, and miracles happen. Spider demons, unlike the scholarly magi, didn’t question everything. Lothar thought.

The Queen set aside her confusion. Even a century of research might not yield results. Especially now, only a few old lords and dukes possessed the ancient bloodline besides Lilith.

Apart from the Night Queen, the others who were still alive were so old they could only sleep in blood pools, and after the Demon Emperor’s torment, their fate was uncertain.

The only exceptions were Qian Ye and Nightray. Nightray’s bloodline had awakened, while Qian Ye’s origins remained a mystery.

However, the Queen and Lothar shared the same view. As long as Little Zhu Ji remained a spider demon, other details didn’t matter. Maybe her blood clan lineage could even secure some benefits from Lilith.

She looked at Qian Ye and said, “Hand her over to me. Only in the land of spider demons can she truly grow.”

“I won’t!!” Little Zhu Ji’s struggles and roars grew louder.

Instantly, several silver strands of spider silk wrapped around her, binding her tightly. But as she struggled, the strands stretched and contracted, almost unable to hold her.

The Queen’s eyes filled with admiration. She flicked another set of spider silk, cocooning the little one.

“She will follow me and learn our spider demon’s supreme secrets. All of our resources will be open to her, and her bloodline talents will be fully developed. Perhaps soon, she can approach the Holy Mountain. In the near future, there will surely be a place for her by my side. So, do you still insist on keeping her with you?”

Qian Ye seemed thoughtful, now calmer, but he kept his attacking stance, guns and swords pointed forward. “She’s already in your hands. Why ask me?”

“Because in her heart, you are her father. Only with your consent will she willingly come with me,” the Queen replied.

Qian Ye looked at Little Zhu Ji and sighed, “I seem to have no choice.”

The Queen’s face brightened, “You will not be disappointed.”

“No! I want to stay with Dad!” The little one roared, suddenly biting into the spider silk, snapping several strands.

The Queen patted her head softly, “He is not abandoning you, just has no other choice. He is constantly pursued by the magi, and if you stay with him, you will only be a burden.”

“It’s you who are pursuing him!”

The Queen smiled, “That was before, not anymore.”

Lothar shrugged and put away his weapon. This was the first time he saw the Queen being so patient, considering someone else’s feelings, and even explaining herself.

Among the Eternal Night Overlords, Lilith was aloof and indifferent, the Queen ruthless and disdainful, and only the Demon Emperor was gentle and approachable.

Qian Ye suppressed his resentment. He knew this was the best outcome. The disparity in power was one thing, but most importantly, Little Zhu Ji, without any cultivation, relied solely on instinct. On the other hand, he was always in danger from the magi, and taking her along was extremely unsafe.

Seeing Little Zhu Ji calm down, the Queen said, “Come with me, and our kind will not participate in actions against your father. Okay? When you grow stronger, if anyone chases your father, you can kill them.”

This had an immediate effect. The little one looked at the Queen and then at Qian Ye, finally nodding.

The Queen beamed, “I will teach you our clan’s secrets when we return!”

“How long will it take to get strong? Three days enough?” the little one looked at the Queen with hope.

The Queen trembled, maintaining her composure, “Thirty years!”

Lothar shivered, and when he heard Little Zhu Ji’s response, he nearly lost balance in the air.

“Too long!”

The Queen glanced at Qian Ye, “Not at all. Don’t worry, even if the world ends, your father may not die!”

The little one was skeptical, “Really?”

“Of course.”

“But I don’t think Dad is that powerful…” the little one muttered.

Qian Ye’s face darkened, feeling that the little one was getting a bit spoiled. Maybe a good spanking would be a good idea.

After a while, the Queen took Little Zhu Ji and left.

She clearly valued the little one, preferring to expend energy to maintain the projection and take her personally rather than leave it to Lothar.

Seeing Little Zhu Ji so highly regarded, Qian Ye felt slightly relieved.

Lothar did not follow the Queen but threw a case over, “Some of my personal collection. You might find it useful.”

Qian Ye opened the case and found two force bullets, each sealed separately. One was a Heavenly King force bullet, and the other was infused with a Duke’s force.

The bullet infused with dark force was not Lothar’s but from another unknown Duke.

With Qian Ye’s combined chaotic force of Eternal Night and Dawn, he could use both bullets. Armed with such a Heavenly King and Duke-level weapon, using the Dragon’s Tomb as a base, augmented by the Primordial Wings, and accompanied by the Primordial Spear, the next time the magi came, even the Master of Messfeld would be in for a surprise.

Qian Ye stowed the case, “I won’t thank you. If I may, I have one more question.”

“What question?”

“How is the council tracking me?”

“Oh, that. It’s Lord Pratetick, the Chief Seer of the Eternal Night Council, using divination to track you. To evade this, there are a few ways…”

Lothar then detailed the principles and methods to evade the Eternal Night divination, especially some techniques to avoid the Nightmare Bloodline. He was thorough, revealing some of the hidden information the spider demons had on the magi.

After obtaining Zhu Ji, the spider demons’ attitude toward Qian Ye shifted to neutrality. Lothar clearly did not want Qian Ye to fall easily into the hands of the magi. Whether this was also an opportunity to weaken the magi was inevitable.

Of course, whether Qian Ye could effectively use these techniques was not something Lothar could guarantee. After all, if the Seers’ power was so easily evaded, they wouldn’t hold such a special position in the Eternal Night Council.

Especially the so-called “Seer’s Doom” Pratetick, who had just undergone his second awakening. Lothar’s knowledge of him was limited to their recent joint mission. But for Qian Ye, this information was still very useful, at least making him wary of the magi’s peculiar abilities.

Qian Ye listened attentively and said, “It seems I should thank you.”

Lothar replied, “No need. Though we will still be opponents, you have earned my respect.”

Qian Ye smiled, “I’d rather have the ability to defeat you.”

“Perhaps in the future, but not now.”

“Then I’ll go. Take care of Zhu Ji.”

“Her name is Zhu Ji? A nice name.”

Qian Ye ascended, flying into the void. Lothar stood in place until Qian Ye disappeared, then retracted his combat form and flew towards the fleet in the void.

Qian Ye quickly exited the void, contacted the Valhalla, and returned to the warship.

Di Long’s voice sounded, “Master, where are we going now?”

“Salvus continent.”

Salvus, in the magi language, means the initial descent of darkness, one of the two core continents of the magi.
