Chapter 115: The Time of Advantage

The secret art of the Wei family, Qian Chong Shan, is an exceedingly profound technique. In terms of subtlety, it is no less wondrous than the esoteric arts of the Four Valves. The most formidable aspect of this secret art is that in battle, one can use the enemy’s attacks to temper their own prime force, much like Zhao Jundu’s Fire Tempering True Gold.

During the recent battle, Wei Po Tian single-handedly faced the majority of the six-armed creature’s onslaughts, while the other Wei family warriors lay in wait for opportunities to inflict minor injuries upon the beast.

The Wei family fighters have long been accustomed to working with Wei Po Tian. While their combined combat power may not be the strongest, each one specializes in attack and delivers blows that are both potent and cunning, making it nearly impossible for the six-armed creature to defend itself. Though they each have only a couple of powerful moves, they proved sufficient.

Wei Po Tian, throughout the battle, almost solely endured the attacks without counterattacking. His pair of arm shields were wielded with impeccable defense, though battered by the relentless assault, he remained standing. As his prime force gradually depleted, the solitary peak above his head grew taller and clearer.

He had yet to realize that he had reached the “Thousand Peaks Solitary Excellence” realm of Qian Chong Shan. Such a realm was typically only attained by descendants of divine generals. No one in the Wei family, from top to bottom, had ever achieved this before.

The six-armed creature possessed immense strength, but its attack methods were crude, and its weapons were only slightly better than those of the Stone Age. This kind of opponent was exactly what Wei Po Tian preferred.

Cultivating Qian Chong Shan is not without risks, and its defense is not invincible. Wei Po Tian was most afraid of opponents like the demonspawn Aidan, who could suddenly break through and focus all their power on a single point. He might not even have time to activate Qian Chong Shan before being killed. By comparison, the six-armed creature was the ideal adversary.

As Wei Po Tian pondered, one of his subordinates remarked, “Brother, if getting beaten up can help you advance, then this is easy. We don’t need the six-armed creature. We can all beat you up every day, and you’ll still breakthrough, right?”

Wei Po Tian’s face turned green. He grabbed the small, thin man and shook him vigorously, barking, “Do you have some ulterior motive? How do you want to die? Tell me, and I’ll make it happen!”

The man screamed, “Wei Po Tian, Brother, I’m innocent! There’s logic to my suggestion.”

Wei Po Tian stopped, demanding, “What logic? Speak! If you can’t explain, I’ll beat you to death and let you break through first.”

The man, seizing the opportunity, quickly said, “You’ve been beaten up by Sister Yu Ying every day, and your cultivation has skyrocketed. Everyone saw it.”

Wei Po Tian blushed and grunted, “How can Yu Ying be compared to you lot? I was just letting her win, understand?”

Though he tried to be tough, Wei Po Tian eventually released the man and tossed him to the ground.

“What are you all standing around for? Clear the forest! Haven’t we finished off the beasts yet?”

After sending his subordinates away, Wei Po Tian, disregarding his image, plopped down against the sacred tree. Relaxing, he felt as if his body was falling apart, with pain in every part. Thankfully, no one was around to see the illustrious Wei Po Tian’s undignified state.

Reflecting on the battle, Wei Po Tian smacked the sacred tree behind him and said, “That monster seems to care about you. Next time, I’ll run around you, and see what it can do to me.”

Not long after, a capable subordinate ran over and reported, “Brother, all the beasts are cleared. The brothers are loading them onto the carts. What’s next?”

“Let me think…” Wei Po Tian felt a headache coming on.

The man continued, “Lord Song Zining’s order was to search for the dark races in this area, but we came to clear a forest. Isn’t this contrary to his orders?”

At the mention of Song Zining, Wei Po Tian’s anger flared. “What do you know? Shouldn’t we clear the forest instead of leaving it for the dark races? Give me the map!”

The man hesitantly handed over the new world map. Wei Po Tian scrutinized it, feeling something was amiss. He bent the map at an angle and slapped his thigh, exclaiming, “So that’s how it should be viewed! No wonder we went off course. That cunning Song Zining didn’t say anything! But this world is indeed strange. Could it be that what appears flat is actually curved? Hmm, it’s possible…”

After a moment, Wei Po Tian decided, “Have the brothers stop moving the loot. Hide the carts in the forest, set up watch, and prepare an ambush!”

“Ambush? Ambush who?”

“Of course, the dark races. Who else? If they see a forest from afar, wouldn’t they come to check it out?”

The man understood.

Wei Po Tian pointed to the six-armed creature’s corpse, saying, “We can’t leave this guy here. Clean him up and find a good spot in the forest to build a seat. Use stones, not wood, to avoid leaving traces. Place him there in a dozing position.”

Several strong men came over and carried the six-armed creature’s body to set it up.

Wei Po Tian leaned against the tree, muttering, “Could my luck be so good that I’ll actually lure those damned demonspawn?”

His luck was indeed good.

Before long, a murky black fog appeared outside the forest, obscuring the number of figures within. This was typical of a demonspawn unit, as the demonic fog could isolate prime force and sound. Although it was visually striking, many powerful beings relied on prime force fluctuations to perceive their surroundings.

The unit stopped outside the forest, and two barely visible figures entered, heading straight for the central sacred tree. Suddenly, the six-armed creature sitting on the stone chair appeared before them.

The two demonspawn marquises, initially shocked, then rejoiced, whispering, “It’s still asleep!”

“Luck is on our side. It’s time for us to shine. You take the left, I’ll take the right, and we’ll strike together in one minute.”

The marquises separated, taking positions on either side, and struck simultaneously!

A crossbow bolt and a short dagger pierced the six-armed creature’s body almost simultaneously. However, the creature fell back without a scream, rage, or any normal biological reaction.

Stunned, the crossbow-wielding marquis suddenly felt his arm tighten as someone grabbed it. In shock, he instinctively smashed the crossbow backward, only to see the figure behind him glowing with a deep yellow prime force. The figure protected its face with an arm, absorbed the hit, and casually shook its head, still gripping the marquis’s wrist like a vice.

The marquis felt as if he had hit a rubbery, slippery object, dissipating most of his force. Furthermore, the crossbow was ill-suited for close combat.

Before he could decide whether to drop the valuable crossbow and fight barehanded, Wei Po Tian lunged, tackling him to the ground like a rampaging beast. The two fought on the ground in a brutal, street-brawl-like exchange.

In contrast, the other marquis fared worse. As he attacked, he sensed several strong prime force reactions around him. Glancing back, he saw various weapons and prime force bullets flying towards him. The surprise attack was both precise and ruthless, shattering his demonic aura defense and inflicting multiple wounds.

Wounded and enraged, the marquis even felt a surge of chaotic demonic energy in one of his wounds, suggesting he had been hit by something like a Melted Silver Sun Bullet. Indeed, he saw several human warriors attacking him, overwhelming him in seconds.

The battle was swift. The marquis, drenched in blood, barely stood, glaring fiercely at the others. He realized that these foes were strong on the surface but weak in depth, each having only a couple of deadly moves. A few more minutes, and he could eliminate them all.

Unfortunately, the initial attack had wounded him too severely, and he couldn’t last those few minutes. Sensing his demonic energy dissipating through his pores, he staggered toward the nearest person, only to be impaled by numerous weapons.

The marquis collapsed, kneeling, and as his head drooped, a short blade flew from his hand, piercing a Wei family warrior’s chest and emerging from his back.

Taking a victim with him, the marquis finally died.

On the other side, Wei Po Tian had the upper hand, relentlessly beating the marquis. Demons were the best assassins and snipers in the Eternal Night, but close combat was not their forte. In a normal battle, they would not fare so poorly with their skills and domains, but in this grappling situation, Wei Po Tian never gave the marquis a chance to turn the tide.

With their leader down, the remaining forces soon broke under the ferocious assault of the Wei family’s private army, leaving thousands of corpses and fleeing the battlefield.

Wei Po Tian, having captured a forest and defeated the encountered demonspawn unit, returned to the forward base, proud of his accomplishments.

The Empire had also captured a Quatrain Sacred Tree Forest. For this mission, Liu Gonggong and Zhao Xuanji had been dispatched, delivering a decisive blow to the six-armed general, securing the victory.

Afterward, Liu Gonggong hurriedly returned to the palace. Using the Quatrain Sacred Tree Forest as a base, Zhao Jundu established a new forward base, which was already quite substantial.

Back at the base, Wei Po Tian allowed his troops to rest, while his subordinates collected supplies. He leisurely made his way to the command center to review the latest battle reports.

After reviewing the reports, Wei Po Tian felt somewhat dejected, “This guy is quite capable.”

Song Zining was more than just capable. Most reports were positive, with victories like Wei Po Tian’s, and joint operations driving back strong enemies. Song Zining himself, along with Zhao Jundu, had captured a new Bicephalic Sacred Tree Forest and ambushed the main force of the demonspawn, severely wounding their leading duke.

Combined, the reports showed the Empire’s various forces overwhelming the demonspawn. Song Zining’s strategic deployment ensured each unit had an advantage, and those without were supported by allies, leading to the demonspawn’s defeat.

Although the demonspawn were powerful, their presence here was limited to a single continent. The Empire, after losing Yueru and facing difficulties in the West, had poured its full strength into Qin, giving them a comprehensive advantage against the demonspawn’s four continents.

Song Zining had seen this and launched a full-scale offensive, not allowing the demonspawn to catch their breath, maximizing the advantage and preparing for the inevitable all-out clash.
