Chapter 766: Half a Year

The battle was swift, especially with the illusionists ‘Meinu’ and ‘Wei’ unleashing their powers, easily affecting the four members of the Thunder Spring Clan. Only the strongest among them, who engaged in repeated head-on clashes with the squad leader ‘Taiwo’, was able to resist the illusions.

“No.”

“I refuse to accept this! I refuse!” The frail Thunder Spring warrior roared furiously, like a madman, bellowing in his native tongue at the final moment of his life.

He wanted to survive, but within the ‘Law Domain,’ he was oppressed, his escape speed sharply reduced, leaving him no chance to flee.

Unable to escape!

He had no choice but to fight!

Yet he couldn’t win, leaving only death as his fate. No other choice remained.

“Boom!” Under Taiwo’s third punch, the frail Thunder Spring warrior was directly shattered into countless bloody fragments, while his inner world collapsed, spewing forth countless items.

“Quickly gather the loot, we’re leaving,” Taiwo ordered.

“Yes.”

The nine Monarchs swiftly collected the spoils of war, then the group transformed into streaks of light and departed rapidly, later boarding a spaceship and leaving at sub-light speed.

Within just a few short minutes,

several alien squads arrived at the scene.

“Our allies are dead.”

“The murderers escaped too quickly.”

The alien squads conducted a brief investigation before dispersing again. The chances of perishing on the battlefield were indeed high, especially in regions like the ‘Star-Shattering Belt,’ where the density of powerful beings was immense, making the death rate staggering. The experts from various races had long since become accustomed to this.

Inside the spaceship.

“We’ve gained quite a bit,” Taiwo chuckled. “That thunder alien did leave us a lot of loot. Everyone, let’s divide it up.”

“The strongest thunder alien was killed by you, Captain. The one who slays the enemy gets the first choice. Captain, you go first,” said a burly hammer-wielder in a deep, heavy voice.

“I’ll take that spear. The rest you can distribute among yourselves,” Taiwo said, taking only the thunder spear. As an Eternal God, his standards were far higher.

The team members divided the loot among themselves.

“What about you, Crazy?”

“What do you want for yourself?”

Luo Feng sat on the sofa, sipping fine wine, shaking his head: “You all choose. I don’t need anything.”

“That’s the demeanor of a true champion,” Mei Nu winked at Poison. “Little Chenchen, show off your heroic spirit too—no need to compete with us.”

“Do you think making potions is free?” Poison clutched tightly onto the world ring, began exploring the vast amount of loot inside, scavenging for valuable items. After thoroughly searching, he took two items before tossing the ring to Mei Nu, “You all choose. I’ve got enough.”

“What the hell!”

“Greedy guy.”

“Talk about ruthless, he took all the best stuff.”

Kuangwu, the illusionist ‘Wei,’ and the God, all looked at Poison with disdain. In truth, having survived countless life-and-death situations together, they were already brothers bound by blood. This kind of playful teasing actually strengthened their camaraderie. Moreover, there was an unspoken rule within the team regarding loot distribution, which everyone followed.

Unfazed by his comrades’ disapproving glances, Poison wore a smug expression instead, replying, “I’m not like Crazy here. Crazy is the rookie, yet he already possesses combat strength rivaling that of an Eternal God. Even if he’s not one of the core members of the top five factions, he’s definitely the beloved disciple of some supreme powerhouse. Of course, he’s got plenty of treasures and doesn’t care about a few scraps. Right, Crazy?”

Luo Feng grinned.

Since arriving on Fengniao Star, no one had yet recognized his true identity.

Not surprising.

Firstly, the number of humans in the universe was simply too vast, with countless individuals bearing similar appearances. Moreover, only a portion of people had even watched the Genius Battle, and even those who did had likely long forgotten it.

Secondly, over the past 4,000 years, Luo Feng’s strength, demeanor, and other aspects had undergone tremendous changes. Back then, he was a naive rookie, but now, after cultivating the ‘Beast God Path,’ when he restrained his power, he resembled a coiled ferocious beast, and when he unleashed it, his domineering aura sent chills down people’s spines. Four thousand years was more than enough for a person to transform completely.

Thirdly, Luo Feng had slightly altered the tone of his skin color.

Subtle shifts between dark and light hues naturally created visual illusions. Even though Luo Feng’s facial features remained the same, a minor adjustment in skin tone was enough to make him unrecognizable.

With both his demeanor and appearance changed,

who would connect this current figure, a Monarch at the peak of his power rivaling an Eternal God, to that insignificant little Star-Level warrior from over 4,000 years ago who had participated in the Genius Battle?

Luo Feng’s squad, aboard their C9-class spaceship, proceeded cautiously through the wilderness. They retreated early when encountering strong enemies and struck swiftly and silently when facing weaker foes, ensuring their battles were always brief before departing quickly.

In the blink of an eye, they had been wandering the area for nearly half a year, engaging in eleven fierce battles!

Three of those encounters were particularly dangerous, during which Kuangwu and Wei were gravely injured. Fortunately, Luo Feng intervened to save them.

“Crazy, I owe you my life now,” Kuangwu said gratefully as he emerged from his world ring inside the spaceship’s lounge.

“Even if I hadn’t saved you, Poison would’ve tried his best to heal you,” Luo Feng chuckled.

“Don’t drag me into this. Even if I did save you, it would’ve cost me a lot,” Poison, who was lounging on the couch drinking wine, shook his head repeatedly. “It’s great having Crazy around. His Yandao weapons can instantly traverse space, moving so fast it’s terrifying. Saving teammates is so much easier. Plus, the enemies always focus on the Captain, thinking he’s the most important one. They never take Crazy seriously.”

“They didn’t pay much attention to the Monarchs,” the God said with a sunny smile. “They didn’t manage to restrain Crazy. Originally, those three dangerous encounters would have required us to fight desperately. But with Crazy on our side, things became much easier. His sudden attacks caught our enemies off guard, causing their strategies to fail and throwing them into chaos, allowing us to turn the tide and win.”

Rock sat quietly in a corner of the cabin, only occasionally nodding in response.

Luo Feng glanced at Rock. He could sense Rock’s low spirits. They had joined the squad together, but now, as Crazy had become the second most important figure in the team, second only to ‘the Captain,’ Rock sometimes still needed help from the other veterans, which naturally made him feel down.

Rock had once been confident, a true prodigy.

But compared to Luo Feng, he had faded into the background.

“He’ll come to his senses after experiencing some setbacks,” Luo Feng thought silently. “Babata, how much military merit do I have now?”

“Adding the two opponents you just killed, your accumulated military merit is 32 million,” Babata replied.

“Just 11 million for those two I killed?” Luo Feng shook his head inwardly. “So stingy.”

It was indeed stingy.

Including the first time he killed members of the Thunder Spring Clan, over the past half year in the Star-Shattering Belt, Luo Feng had killed many alien experts. By now, he had a good grasp of the military merit accumulation rules.

Killing an ordinary Monarch warrior alone earned 100,000 military merit.

Killing an elite Monarch warrior alone earned 1 million military merit.

Killing a Monarch General alone earned 10 million military merit.

These were the rewards for solo kills. If working together with others, the military merit would be split, and only a portion would be awarded.

During this time, Luo Feng naturally targeted the more formidable foes, killing either ‘Monarch Generals’ or ‘Elite Monarch Warriors,’ which allowed him to accumulate 32 million military merit.

“A regular Monarch needs at least 100,000 military merit. That means… he must kill at least ten opponents of equal strength to meet the quota.” Luo Feng sighed inwardly. “Each time a rookie faces a life-or-death battle against someone no weaker than himself, surviving is already a miracle. To do this at least ten times in a row?”

Luo Feng shook his head again inwardly.

Of course, the higher one’s strength, the higher the requirements.

The army set Luo Feng’s ‘Monarch Limit’ at 100 million military merit, but the Virtual Universe Company set it at 10 trillion military merit.

“If I don’t leave the squad and just kill regular Monarchs, even after ten thousand or a million years, I won’t be able to gather enough military merit,” Luo Feng thought. “Moreover, there aren’t that many Monarch Generals for me to kill. A single barracks only has a limited number of Monarchs. Obviously, the Virtual Universe Company is pushing me to go after Eternal Gods.”

In the eyes of the Virtual Universe Company, as a direct disciple of the Chaos City Lord, a Monarch should already be capable of killing Eternal Gods.

During the half year, Luo Feng’s team returned to their hideout three times, each time resting for ten days to half a month.

“One more battle, and then we’ll return to the hideout to rest,” Taiwo said.

“Yes.”

“After finishing this battle, we can go back and rest.”

The team members laughed heartily, appearing very relaxed.

They cautiously searched for enemies, and within just over eight hours, they had identified their target.

A biometric spaceship, entirely emerald green, soared through the Star-Shattering Belt.

Biometric spaceships were actually a fairly common type of vessel in the cosmos. However, they were predominantly favored by certain species such as the Yao Clan. As for humans and the Mechanical Clan, they primarily utilized alloy or metallic spacecraft. Both “biometric vessels” and “metallic ships” had their own distinct advantages and drawbacks.

Inside the control room,

a male creature, only 1.6 meters tall, covered entirely in dark red scales, extended his claw, gripping a cup of fruit wine and drinking deeply from it. Beside him stood another creature almost identical in appearance.

Both of them faintly exuded fluctuations of the Flame Law.

“Two Captains, absorption is complete. The biometric ship’s integrity has reached 100%,” a similarly short Monarch respectfully reported.

“Hmph.”

Both Captains nodded.

Also gathered inside the control room were clearly 20 Monarchs of the same race. Although these Monarchs were all roughly between 1.3 to 1.7 meters in height, their eyes gleamed with ferocity. Their scaled bodies, along with sharp spines on their elbows and knees, clearly marked them as a warrior race.

“Fuweisai, the detection instruments have picked up combat fluctuations,” one of the slightly stockier Eternal-scale creatures spoke.

“Move closer!” another scale-armored creature immediately ordered, “and investigate the strength of the opposing side.”

“Hmph.”

Within about ten seconds,

“We’ve already detected the fluctuations. There’s one Eternal Law fluctuation, the rest are all Monarchs,” the slightly stockier Eternal-scale creature immediately became excited, “Only one Eternal.”

“Prepare for battle!” the other scale-armored creature stood up abruptly, letting out a low growl.

Whoosh!

All twenty Monarch-scale creatures rose to their feet, their bodies immediately enveloped in protective battle armor, while weapons appeared in their hands. Madness and ferocity gleamed in each of their eyes.
