Chapter 101: Fierce Battle (Part II)

The bald, muscular man could hardly believe his eyes. Before his muscle-packed brain could even process the scene, Qian Ye was already in front of him, drawing out the Glowing Fang and slashing with it!

Blood essence and origin power surged into the intricately decorated short blade, and Qian Ye suddenly felt a lightness in his hand. A hazy blood light shone from the edge of the blade, as if it had turned into an ethereal existence.

The brawny man casually glanced at the small, almost pitiful knife that was being swung at him. The Glowing Fang, with its exquisite and delicate style typical of the blood race, seemed to him nothing more than a dagger. Besides, a human using a blood race weapon probably meant he had nothing else to use. He raised his arm and met the blade’s light, his forearm, which was as thick as an ordinary man’s thigh, was covered in thick steel armor, through which the robust glow of origin power emanated.

Yet, the faint blade light penetrated his arm, as if there were no barrier, and continued forward. The brawny man suddenly felt his upper body lighten, and half of his arm detached from his torso, flying far away. Qian Ye’s blade momentum shifted from slashing to stabbing, and the sharp edge pierced deeply into the brawny man’s abdomen!

Everything happened so quickly that the brawny man didn’t even feel anything. Suddenly, something exploded in his mind, and he realized that the blade was so sharp that he hadn’t even felt the pain of being slashed or stabbed!

The brawny man let out a deafening roar! He now understood that he had been hit by two blades in a split second, not just because of the sharpness of the weapon, but due to the strength difference between him and the young man. Since there was no chance of escaping, he decided to go all out, and with his intact left arm, he smashed down towards Qian Ye!

The sound was heavy, mixed with a heart-stopping screech, as if an entire mountain was crashing down!

Qian Ye lifted his hand and deftly blocked the heavy punch. His feet sank, and the ground cracked beneath him, but his seemingly thin body was incredibly resilient, and his blocking hand didn’t waver at all.

Qian Ye’s origin power burst from the Glowing Fang, and in an instant, the tremendous force shattered all the organs in the brawny man’s body. Then, he calmly stepped back. The brawny man’s eyes bulged, and he fixed a resentful glare on the figure before him, letting out a low growl as his massive body slowly fell.

The captain of the 15th Assault Battalion had fallen in battle!

The morale of the expeditionary forces who witnessed this battle plummeted instantly, and the resistance within the town became even more intense. Qian Ye leaped off the town wall and began to roam the entire town, striking only at the combat soldiers. Whether they were level one or level four, none could withstand a single blow from the Glowing Fang.

Sniper rifles thundered continuously on the battlefield. Qian Ye had arranged for five snipers, but Wu Shiqing’s large-caliber, gunpowder-powered sniper rifle had a distinct sound, and he maintained a steady firing frequency, firing once every ten seconds, never missing. After the initial chaos, the young man had become calm and composed.

Wu Shiqing did not change his sniper position. From the attic of the clock tower in the town center, he had a view and firing range that covered the entire town. However, this made the clock tower a target, and continuous assaults were launched toward it. Inside and outside the clock tower, dozens of corpses lay. Among them, several lieutenants had died under the fire of the origin power gun; his sister, Wu Shiting, with her exceptionally deep origin power, finally played a significant role on the battlefield.

After Qian Ye slew a lieutenant along with his auxiliary team, he suddenly sensed something and turned his head. He saw a lieutenant colonel just scaling the town wall, protected by dozens of warriors, setting up an exceptionally large sniper rifle, its dark muzzle pointing towards the clock tower.

It was the Eagle Strike, and the lieutenant colonel was holding the Eagle Strike!

Qian Ye brandished the Glowing Fang again, and a hazy light swept through the expeditionary forces around him. Ignoring the falling enemies, he leapt up a small hill, unslung the Eagle Strike from his back, and aimed at the lieutenant colonel.

Anyone who could wield the Eagle Strike was a seasoned warrior, and the lieutenant colonel almost immediately felt an extreme sense of danger. Turning in alarm, he saw Qian Ye hundreds of meters away, holding the Eagle Strike!

What the lieutenant colonel found unbelievable was that the other man was taking aim while standing!

Even among snipers, the Eagle Strike was not for everyone. Its extraordinary power and range came at the cost of enormous origin power consumption, recoil, and control requirements. Without at least eighth or ninth-level strength, standing to use the Eagle Strike was tantamount to suicide, as the recoil would consume the unwary shooter.

The lieutenant colonel did not believe that the other man would dare to fire under such circumstances. He could have first eliminated the sniper in the clock tower and then dodged the attack from behind. But the dangerous intuition and cautious nature honed through years of battle led him to abandon this thought. The lieutenant colonel jumped from his spot and quickly moved behind two auxiliary warriors.

Then, he heard the unique sound of the Eagle Strike, like the rumble of thunder before a summer downpour.

He really dared to fire while standing? The lieutenant colonel’s heart skipped a beat. There was no time for self-satisfaction over his foresight, nor to scorn the sniper whose arm would likely be crippled. Right before the lieutenant colonel, the bodies of the two expeditionary force soldiers exploded and tore apart, and an origin power bullet, its light barely diminished, struck his chest!

In an instant, the lieutenant colonel’s body lost all sensation, floating lightly. His origin power and the defense of his uniform seemed to have no effect. In mid-air, he saw the young man standing calmly, holding the Eagle Strike, and firing a second shot!

A dark red origin power bullet flew through the air, and in the lieutenant colonel’s rapidly expanding pupils, the young man seemed to glide on the water, retreating several meters before tucking the Eagle Strike behind him and resuming the fight as if nothing had happened.

How could this be?!

A dark red flame ignited in the air, and the lieutenant colonel’s body shattered into burning fragments, falling onto the gray-black soil. In his final moments, his heart was filled with hatred for his superiors and the intelligence department. A fifth-level warrior using the Eagle Strike? Even an eighth-level warrior would struggle to use the Eagle Strike while standing.

In the midst of the intense battle, Qian Ye’s gaze swept over the entire battlefield, and he felt a slight regret. Apart from the lieutenant colonel, no other lieutenant colonels appeared on the battlefield. Now, after the Eagle Strike’s shots, they surely wouldn’t dare to show themselves, instead driving their soldiers to further drain Qian Ye’s origin power.

The battle in the town had reached a fever pitch, with waves of expeditionary forces surging in from all directions, fighting in every corner. Wu Shiqing could no longer snipe and instead fought side by side with his sister, defending the stairway entrance, relying on the terrain advantage to prevent the enemy from advancing. Otherwise, the two first-level combat soldiers, with their nearly depleted origin power, would be swiftly overwhelmed.

The guards from Far East Heavy Industries began to suffer casualties, and many of Qian Ye’s trainees were also killed or wounded. These young men and women, lacking training and proper equipment, were no match for the experienced veterans. Relying solely on passion and courage was not enough to defeat the pack of wolves accustomed to blood and slaughter.

Qian Ye suddenly realized that his fighting style was flawed. While he roamed the entire battlefield, racking up shocking results with dozens of combat soldiers already dead at his hands, the expeditionary forces, having lost many non-commissioned officers and officers, had actually begun to lose their combat effectiveness. However, in the heat of the fierce battle, neither side noticed the subtle shift in strength. By the time Qian Ye’s victories had a significant impact on the battle, perhaps his own line had already collapsed.

Qian Ye took out his only origin power grenade, activated it, and threw it with all his might! The origin power grenade flew over a hundred meters and exploded above a group of expeditionary forces. The raging origin power storm and terrifying shockwave instantly claimed the lives of the entire unit, and the massive boom drowned out all other sounds on the battlefield!

The lieutenant colonel observing the battle from afar broke into a cold sweat. He hadn’t expected the enemy to possess a blood race origin power grenade, a weapon of such deadly power! If the officers rashly entered the battlefield and suddenly got hit by such a grenade, they would either die or be severely injured. Fortunately, the lethal device had been used, expended on a dozen ordinary soldiers and a few combat soldiers, making it a futile expenditure.

But what was the purpose of this inexplicable attack?

As the aftershocks of the explosion still reverberated and the flames continued to burn, Qian Ye had already dashed through the blaze, heading for a major on the other side of the square. This major, still reeling from the shock of the blood race origin power grenade, saw Qian Ye charging towards him.

The major was not alone; there were over a dozen protective soldiers around him. But Qian Ye, facing the barrage of bullets, ran at full speed and suddenly changed his momentum, leaping into the air!

The major’s gaze followed Qian Ye as he ascended, seeing two ornate blood race pistols aimed at him, followed by a flickering, ethereal flower blooming in the air. His origin power defense was ripped to shreds by the tremendous impact, and blood spurted from his face and chest.

Qian Ye somersaulted in the air, dissipating the recoil of the Twin Flowers, and landed on the ground.

The entire square fell silent. There was only one enemy, but the surviving expeditionary soldiers were all filled with fear. First, a whole squad of soldiers fell under the blood race grenade, and then Qian Ye, braving the gunfire and flames, charged and killed the major. How could these ordinary soldiers not be terrified?!

Qian Ye returned the Twin Flowers to their sheath, kicked an expeditionary force assault soldier’s alloy war axe, and caught it with his right hand. He drew the Glowing Fang with his left hand, wielding the axe in his right and the sword in his left, and strode towards the remaining expeditionary soldiers.

For every step Qian Ye advanced, the remaining expeditionary soldiers retreated, until they backed out of the block, and no one dared to charge at him! The heavy alloy war axe, capable of cutting through the spider demon’s carapace in the hands of an officer, was light as a feather in Qian Ye’s hands. They had no doubt that the first ones to charge would be cleaved in two by the axe.

More expeditionary forces rushed in from a distance, and soon, over a hundred had gathered. Yet, their numerical superiority did not bolster their confidence. Deprived of their commander, the soldiers were still forced to retreat step by step. The heavy footsteps pounded on their hearts, crushing their courage bit by bit.

A major from the assault battalion, hearing the news, roared and charged out of the crowd. But before he could swing his war axe, Qian Ye’s axe blade sliced through his neck. A head flew high, blood gushing out, splattering on the faces and bodies of the surrounding soldiers.

The expeditionary forces’ morale finally crumbled, and they turned and fled, their chaotic ranks breaking their own lines. The small town’s local collapse quickly affected the entire battle. The experienced guards from Far East Heavy Industries launched a counterattack, leading the young soldiers out of the fortress, launching attacks in every place and corner against the enemy.

Finally, a desolate horn sounded in the distance, signaling the retreat of the expeditionary forces. This offensive had ultimately failed.
