Qian Ye was currently hiding in a derelict airship, with only half of the main cabin remaining. The torn edges were as sharp as metal blades, and various debris hung from them, fluttering in the wind like chaotic banners, obscuring his view.
Through what used to be a porthole, Qian Ye cautiously peered out, ensuring that even his eyes remained hidden behind the metallic wall. Only the black lens of a telescope protruded outside.
In his vision, Wilde’s silhouette was tinged with a faint dark red, indicating that he wasn’t radiating much dark force. This was a mark of a true high-ranking vampire. The real powerhouses among the vampires could conceal their blood aura and dark force, making it impossible for a mere tactical scope to detect them.
It seemed this was the noble vampire that Yeping had mentioned. Qian Ye carefully observed Wilde, not missing even the slightest detail of his movements.
In Qian Ye’s understanding, high-ranking vampires and vampire warriors were entirely different beings. A noble vampire, even the lowest-ranked Blood Knight, would be at least level seven, far beyond what Qian Ye could handle. Although his opponent had been lured into the junkyard due to overconfidence, Qian Ye knew he had only one chance.
He must strike with lethal precision!
Qian Ye’s opportunity lay in the fact that his opponent wouldn’t expect a level two human to possess a scorpion needle and demon-busting mithril bullets—weapons of such immense power!
Qian Ye watched as Wilde searched blindly, even turning his back on him several times, but never attacking. High-ranking vampires had incredibly fast reactions, and Wilde, having just entered the junkyard, was still in a state of heightened alertness, not the ideal time for a sniper shot.
Back in the Netherworld Training Camp, Qian Ye had learned the virtue of patience. For someone with no future, the most meaningful thing in his life right now was to kill the high-ranking vampire before him.
In the junkyard, Wilde’s keen sense of smell, which he took pride in, became a hindrance. The trail ended here, and he had to rely on the resonance of blood and vitality, along with his sight and experience, to locate his opponent.
But in such a vast and chaotic junkyard, where odd-shaped objects were piled up in incomprehensible ways, finding a deliberately hidden person was no easy task.
As Wilde walked, he suddenly stopped, looking up at the top of a warship wreck. On the inclined gangway, a slender figure appeared.
“Yeping? You actually came in!” Wilde was extremely surprised.
He knew that Yeping was special, and such people typically wouldn’t step foot in such a filthy place. Yet, not only did she come, but she seemed intent on engaging him in battle here.
“Why can’t I?” Yeping said coldly.
Wilde abruptly took off his tailored suit, tossing it to the ground, and laughed, “Since you don’t mind getting dirty, why should I? But, is this human bug really that important to you?”
With that, Wilde drew a flexible sword, straightening it, and leapt towards Yeping.
Yeping, in turn, drew a dagger, leaping down from dozens of meters above. In mid-air, she forcefully pushed off the side of the airship, changing direction bizarrely, and instantly pounced on Wilde’s side!
The two transformed into blurs, clashing like lightning, each second filled with countless attacks, yet there were few sounds of metal clashing.
After observing the fight for a while, Qian Ye aimed his telescope at Yeping.
In the vampiric vision, Yeping emitted almost no red light, nearly invisible. Qian Ye frowned; theoretically, this confirmed her human identity, but something felt off.
Qian Ye had fought vampires numerous times and knew their combat style intimately. Vampires excelled in strength, speed, and combat skill, particularly their inhuman speed and disproportionate strength, distinguishing them from human warriors of the same level. The scene before him looked like a battle between two high-ranking vampires, yet Yeping showed no signs of dark force.
Believing Yeping to be human, yet seeing her fight in a pure high-ranking vampire manner, left Qian Ye with an inexplicable discomfort.
Qian Ye quietly retreated into the airship’s machinery room, which was mostly intact, hoping its shielding effect might still be somewhat functional. He retrieved the scorpion needle and carefully loaded the crystal bullet box, inserting a demon-busting mithril bullet into the chamber.
He waited a few seconds, everything normal. The demon-busting mithril bullet didn’t react to the dark blood in his body. The craftsmanship of the scorpion needle was indeed top-notch, completely sealed, preventing any leakage.
Qian Ye gave a barely visible smile. Being able to use the demon-busting weapon was excellent news. Holding the gun, he slowly channeled his primordial force.
Dark red patterns lit up on the gun, and Qian Ye’s perception followed the flow of primordial force. It activated the internal primordial force array components, forming a special energy membrane around the demon-busting mithril bullet.
This was a skill Qian Ye had acquired at the Second-Level Warrior: heavy bullet.
Heavy bullet was a common ability among snipers, but very practical. The energy membrane would greatly increase the damage when the bullet exploded. Qian Ye’s primordial force was already extremely concentrated and fierce, so the heavy bullet’s enhancement was significant. Combined with the demon-busting mithril bullet, it would surely devastate a vampire below the rank of viscount, or even instant-kill if it hit a vital spot!
This was the gift Qian Ye prepared for Wilde!
Qian Ye meticulously checked himself, ensuring nothing hindered his movement, then quietly moved within the airship, soon emerging from another opening. He pushed aside a layer of garbage, slowly raising his head.
Below and in front of him, Wilde and Yeping were engaged in a fierce battle.
This was an excellent position, one Qian Ye had spotted upon entering the junkyard. The best part was the thick layer of decaying organic waste, which acted as a natural barrier for vampires. Even a count couldn’t sense someone hiding beneath it.
Qian Ye didn’t care about the stench and filth. From as far back as he could remember, he grew up in such places. Without these massive junkyards and the regular dumping of waste from the upper continent, he wouldn’t have found enough food to survive.
Under the cover of the garbage, the scorpion needle’s barrel slowly emerged, but stopped just short, then gradually lowered, pointing at an open area. Qian Ye began to patiently wait.
Wilde and Yeping suddenly separated, each staring at the other. Both were wounded: Wilde had a pronged spike deeply embedded in his thigh, pinning it to the bone. Yeping’s left arm had a large gash, deep enough to see the bone.
Wilde laughed, his expression exaggerated, “You can’t escape now! With the scent of your blood, no matter where you run, the Black Nightmare warriors will find you!”
Yeping coldly replied, “You’ve actually conspired with those foul hounds! You’ve disgraced the clan’s honor!”
“What do you know? When we pull your father from his position, let’s see how long you can remain so arrogant!”
Yeping was about to retort when her expression changed. From the perimeter of the junkyard, drawn-out wolf howls echoed, and soon, several black war wolves appeared atop the wreckage of an airship.
Hundreds of meters away, Qian Ye couldn’t hear what Yeping and Wilde were saying. But when he saw the high-ranking vampire courteously wave to the black wolves, his expression changed too!
Werewolves!
They were another major race in the dark races, slightly weaker than the vampires. Historically, they had been bitter enemies, sometimes even more so than with humans. Seeing vampires and werewolves standing together was incredibly strange.
This further indicated Yeping’s extraordinary identity, requiring the combined efforts of vampires and werewolves to face her.
The black wolves were massive, all official warriors of the Wolf Clan, with the strength of Second-Level Warriors. One particularly large wolf, measuring four meters from head to tail and nearly two meters tall, was equivalent to a human Fifth-Level Warrior, a true elite of the Wolf Clan.
At this moment, over a dozen vampire warriors finally caught up, appearing from the outskirts of the junkyard. Though they were only Second-Level, their numbers made up for it. They filled the gaps in the werewolf warriors’ formation, cutting off all of Yeping’s escape routes.
The situation turned dire. This power disparity was utterly hopeless. Even with Yeping’s speed, escaping the encirclement would be near impossible, especially with her wounds providing a clear trail for the werewolves. In the wilderness, the Wolf Clan was the best hunter, more troublesome than the vampires.
Qian Ye hadn’t anticipated this scenario. It seemed all the high-ranking dark races in the area had emerged. This was still considered the territory of the Imperial Expeditionary Army! The sudden appearance of so many high-ranking dark warriors would surely provoke a strong retaliation, likely resulting in a thorough cleansing by a large army.
Wherever the Expeditionary Army went, it left destruction in its wake, even for humans.
In areas where dark races had been active, the Expeditionary Army often conducted large-scale hunts for blood slaves. Among those captured, fewer than half were truly tainted; the rest were either potentially infected, harboring blood slaves, or simply seized by officers who disliked them.
If the Expeditionary Army launched a full-scale operation, Beacon Town would be reduced to half.
However, Beacon Town’s future was not Qian Ye’s concern. As the dark blood episodes became more frequent and harder to control, Qian Ye had resolved that the day he succumbed to the bloodlust and began a slaughter, he would end his own life.
This was also why, when he heard of a noble vampire’s presence, Qian Ye insisted on accompanying Yeping. To him, exchanging his uncertain lifespan for the destruction of a high-ranking vampire was a worthy bargain.
Using a Second-Level Warrior to take down at least a Seventh-Level Vampire was a decision any commander would make without hesitation.
Qian Ye gently adjusted the gun barrel, patiently locking onto Wilde.
