Chapter 46: Deep Within the Mountain Range

The willow tree had snapped years ago. The remnant was a charred trunk several tens of meters in diameter. All that remained intact was one slender willow bough, luxuriant and dripping vivid green, swaying gracefully in the wind. Never uttering but one single word in decades past, why was it suddenly speaking tonight? “Young Master Xian”, as he gazed at the willow with wide, sparkling eyes, wore an enchanting look of childish curiosity. All villagers knelt to offer homage and reverence, utterly astounded by the sentient miracle they witnessed. The elders, aged hands quivering, prostrated themselves first, recite prayers imbued with absolute devotion, hoping this divine tree spirit might offer eternal benediction over Stone Hamlet’s safety.

Mysterious energies rippled outward, unlike anything mundane. They resembled the sacred ritualistic waves described ancient bone inscriptions, when primordial forebears sacrificed to gods. The stone ancestral cauldron began resonating – intricate carvings of suns and moons, mountains and rivers etched along its metallic walls now pulsed with mystical luster as if imbuing the vessel itself with timeless power. Though the willow remained mute as ever, stone villagers obeyed earnestly.

“Follow Great Willow’s warning, immediate food preservation must begin!” a clan elder decreed. In mere moments, carnage reigned upon the streets as hundreds of riding beasts’ freshly deceased carcasses lay mountainous in the alleys, their preservation essential to avoid rapid decay. House upon house filled with savory roasting fragrances as villagers hastily prepared dried jerky and smoked cuts while even tiny children busied themselves helping hands. The entire hamlet trembled at what might be approaching.

After all, never before within living memory had stone guardian spoken. Meanwhile, Purple Hills clan, Clan Lei, Lake Luofu sect, and Golden Wolf tribe retreated in utter defeat from Lone Summit Fortress town as rumors spread like wildfire. Bruised, battered and broken were their spirits after suffering catastrophic losses. Even among their mighty retinue, not one dared utter thoughts of vengeance against Stone Hamlet ever again. Elderly clan sages lamented bitterly their disgrace – four great clans, lords over these vast lands, now vanquished so completely by a mere village! The humiliation stung painfully within their proud hearts.

As temporary rest camps sprang up to regroup, terror clutched every soul in these defeated forces, who could no longer suppress shivers of fear toward this fearsome supernatural entity they battled. How could a single tree spirit wreak so much devastating destruction upon four entire tribes? Remorse consumed their thoughts yet too late now for repentance. With such grave developments destined to attract unwelcome attention, their decision settled upon departing this accursed locale immediately. After all – could any sane person dare remain in this bloodstained demonic wasteland when three great warlords fell tragically here?

Yet matters grew stranger still within these ancient mountains’ hidden depths. Veil-like mist began rising, swirling in great clouds and enrobes the landscape with other worldly haze. The primal wilderness silenced, even the mighty primaeval beasts ceased their guttural cries and lay crouched submis-sively before a newly rising titanic presence.

Its colossal shape swathed in swirling vaporous clouds stood so immeasurably tall, towering skyward for unfathomable heights as pairs of enormous emerald-green eyes blinked with eerie sentience within that ghostly veil. Larger than entire lakes did its luminous pupils seem – suffused with bloodthirty savagery! No name could ever suffice in defining so terrifying a creature; were stories shared beyond these peaks, kingdoms surely would reel with dread.

“This blessed spirit creature is mine,” a basso rumbling erupted like thundercloud bursts. This voice possessed such crushing pressure, shaking entire mountain ranges as if collapsing beneath the sound’s weight alone. Far distant ranges’ feral creatures all shivered instinctively with primordial fear of this supreme beast.

“KADOOM!”

In answered challenge flew a colossal blackened iron stave whose diameter was thicker than entire pillars. Swaying down it swept like cataclysm incarnate, howling winds and flying boulders heralding its descent from the clouds. A strike fit for annhilating entire universes! From the fog surged forward one immense clawed forefinger as large as several whole mountain ridges, metallic claws glinting death. Its monstrous silhouette stretched so vast, darkness swallowed light as terrifying killing qi threatened to suffocate heaven’s skies.

“KEENG!

When that gargantuan claw connected mid-sky against iron stave’s impact with cataclysmic force did entire cloud banks rupture instantly, dazzling lights spilling forth as ultimate treasure techniques manifested in cosmic radiance.

“SWIISH, SWIISH!”

From the ruptured heavens descended many bones of celestial essence, their forms brilliant with divine energies. Some glistened like sapphires dripping red like flowing rubies. Others shined pitch-black or translucent-white yet altogether imbued with primordial power beyond words. To external human cultivators, these undoubtedly constituted priceless relics fallen from purebloods of an era long past. No fewer than a dozen such relics raining downward dispersed across vast forest ranges, their settling forms calming earth energies and preventing galeforce heavenly winds from ravishing mountains and lands anymore.

Its towering frame still beyond clouds, those baleful green eyes glared coldly: “Mercy? Sentimentality for mortals,” boomed the voice as its lips uttered forth one terrifyingly radiant beam that streaked toward heavens above threatening annihilation. But for those stabilizing treasure bones recently fallen, surely countless lives would’ve ceased in mere instants upon this devastation’s passage.”

Crash rang through skies as a iron staff intercepted the celestial technique’s brilliant onslaught, erupting forth thunderous Dao-tones as ancient primordial scripts suddenly surrounded it in dense clusters.

Thus commenced an unparalleled clash – the heavens trembled while primordial enchantments anchored the earth as two divine titians locked in battle. “You were injured gravely from combating that little red phoenix bird. Retreat should be your only chosen path now,” the emerald-eyed leviathan mocked contemptuously. Yet amidst the unending war horns sounded, within another section deep inside these eternal ranges, sudden brilliant fires lit the skies ablaze anew as crimson little fledgling clashed ferociously with another fearsome entity.

“You managed to remain alive still? Unexpected, indeed.” “GUWOAHhh!”

Thus four supreme sovereign beings waged total war – creatures whose very natures transcended mortal comprehension – even demonic apes, pyrefang boar demons all trembled and scurried fearfully to safer distant locales far away to avoid certain deaths here in combat’s proximity.

Back at Lone Summit Fortress’s town square, mighty warriors all turned anxious in listening carefully. They heard these distant rumblings echo from the deepest forests. Though none could clearly perceive the chaos above, all observed thick churning clouds of chaos energies rising endlessly. At minimum a dozen or more divine bone relics floated about, each radiates terrifying auras suppressing these immense lands’ very structures.

“Why this sudden tremor? Does this holy sacred treasure awaken at last to be contested among deities during their apocalyptic quarrel for its ownership?”

The next moment, sudden brilliant white divine radiance erupted from the heart of these forests like a cosmic sun rising prematurely – chaotic storm forces surged forth from the land itself as divine techniques battered the heavens mercilessly. Even with so many powerful bone relics anchoring mountains beneath, massive tremors still shook lands ceaselessly as waves upon waves of pressure emanated continuously outward in an unending cascade. Mortal souls wailed involuntarily as terror gripped bones.

All present knelt, their faces turning deathly white while recalling former suicidal inclinations their various clans had foolishly harbored of venturing in search of mountain treasure. Now, none remained except thoughts urging one singular course action: “Escape! Abandon forever this deathtrap realm and never dare linger here even for the smallest sliver of further time!”

Especially those from Clan Lei, Lake Luofu clan and Golden Wolf tribe – for them, merely the demonic cursed willow alone already terrified souls enough without layering in these mountain depths beyond any normal limits. Retreat remained far the wisest choice left now.

Panic-stricken now ruled the atmosphere over Loneshane Fortress town as each faction and warrior prepared hastily toward fleeing immediately with desperate haste towards distant frontiers never returning here for eternity, so potent was their terror over what happened within those eternal woods nearby.

SUDDENLY, within the very center of the great wild expanse – with cataclysmic explosion the mountaintop shattered open! Churning chaos waves erupted outward in waves upon wave of primordial miasmas flooding the entire forest ranges. From below arose ethereal luminescence shining brilliantly into heavens above – like ancient creation myth becoming reborn as something unfathomable re-emerged into this world at the beginning once more.”

“The Mountaintreasure has appeared!! At this precise instant, everyone simultaneously knew the answer. No need for confirmation, all were absolutely convinced – what must’ve reappear-ed from burial ages was the very holy treasure that ancient texts describe.”

With another low vibrating thrum of energy resonating, the deep depths began erupting like boiling caldron’s heart. The war intensified further beyond mortal conception! The four unfathomably powerful entities, each capable of razing kingdoms and shaking sky realms themselves, now commenced absolute final battle to conquer and command that newly-releas-ed mountain treasure.
