Chapter 579: The Dead End of Days

The golden skeleton who ignited the netherworld flame, Yang Li with flowing silver hair, and the snow-white pangolin all leaped into the sky above the imperial palace at once, staring at Shi Hao with eyes shining like divine lanterns radiating resplendent light.

“It is not a mistake—this is indeed an ancient artifact!”

The Indestructible Golden Body, a masterpiece transcending eras, must be forged by fusing the rarest heavenly treasures and precious materials under heaven within a single furnace, and then inscribed with intricate markings and formations through the most complex and profound methods. Success is only barely possible through such painstaking procedures.

Each true Extraordinary Treasure artifact, once manifested, is destined to arrive amid blood and storm. It is priceless, revered and fiercely contested. In ancient times, it had stirred boundless chaos and upheaval across the ages.

“Pity though, this one is flawed, already damaged. Otherwise it would definitely trigger a tremendous quake.”

Time passes swiftly like flowing water. After the ancient eras, very few Indestructible Golden Body artifacts remained—most were destroyed, and the forging techniques were long lost.

Thus, its value increased beyond measure. Even in broken form, it was worth fighting over among mighty experts who would vie to capture and study it.

“This is an authentic treasure capable of ‘defeating the strong with the weak.’ One does not need to possess invincible battle power; just a single intact Indestructible Golden Body armor grants supreme dominance throughout the world!”

The three deities sighed, reminiscing that distant epoch.

Back then, the moment the Indestructible Golden Body artifacts emerged, the entire world trembled. Their impact was profound, bearing epoch-shattering significance that could possibly overturn the entire cultivation world.

With it, a mere fledgling cultivator could slay renowned experts!

Precisely because of this, endless battles broke out during the ancient ages, triggering great chaos. In a sense, it shook the very foundation of certain powers and beings.

Therefore, its destruction was already predestined, with hidden seeds of calamity sown too early.

“Whoosh!”

The expert from the netherworld extended a bone hand, dark netherworld flames igniting between its skeletal fingers. The flames surged forth like a net, aiming to ensnare Shi Hao from afar.

Shi Hao shifted sideways, his speed inconceivably swift—like an illusion vanishing into emptiness. He retreated over ten miles in an instant, his expression grave. Every reaction and move he made was extremely cautious.

Swoosh!

The pangolin moved, transforming into a silver streak, traversing space like a silver ribbon, chasing down Shi Hao in the blink of an eye.

“There is only one item. Looks like the three of us will have to discuss how to divide it,” said Yang Li, his silver hair flowing, smiling faintly as he also stepped forward to descend in pursuit.

In truth, he couldn’t be considered an “antique”—his actual age wasn’t particularly old. Within the Yin-Yang Academy, he was still considered a prodigy.

Though all three deities had come for Shi Hao, each now harbored different intentions, each wishing to obtain the Indestructible Golden Body for himself.

Though damaged, this object remained invaluable in their hands. With in-depth research, immeasurable rewards awaited.

Shi Hao retreated rapidly, vanishing several times in quick succession, already beyond the Shi Kingdom and hovering above an expanse of mountains.

“Pseudo-gods!” Fire burned within his eyes. Beings from the upper realm had crossed over, using living souls for blood rituals. Countless screams echoed across the hong realm, horrifying in their cruelty.

And now these three deities had arrived in the Shi Kingdom, strutting about with such arrogance, humiliating and oppressing the entire nation, inciting boundless fury!

“You have no path to heaven, no escape to earth. Your doom is already sealed. I relish the blood of men like you, flowing with a hint of Supreme Emperor power,” said the pangolin as it approached, its forked red tongue licking its lips, revealing rows of sharp, snow-white teeth.

Instantly, Shi Hao flicked his hand, unrolling a scroll upon which the word “Kill” was inscribed in blood, crimson and dripping, as if the hatred of hell had pierced through the sky, surging forth.

The scroll fluttered, its yellowed paper rustling, releasing endless killing light, ascending to heaven like countless sword rays piercing the skies.

With a single throw, Shi Hao launched the scroll crashing toward the snow-white scaled pangolin.

It was sudden, the scroll unfurling with boundless energy. Those radiant beams were enough to crush any expert into dust, slaying countless masters across the world.

“Dang! Dang! Dang…”

The ringing sounds continued without end. Those beams, sharper than actual swords, struck the pangolin’s body, sending forth countless sparks.

“A divine artifact left by a divine-level expert?” Behind, the golden skeleton from the netherworld and Yang Li from Yin-Yang Academy revealed expressions of surprise.

This was one of the few great weapons Shi Hao possessed. It was taken from the Shi Kingdom’s hidden treasury, a treasure of the nation that he had been reluctant to use. But with no other choice now, he had no option.

“It’s still not enough. You cannot kill me.” The silver pangolin spoke, although amidst the storm of attacks, its defensive power remained astonishing. Its silver scales shimmered, emitting countless glyphs that quelled the killing light.

“Annihilate it!”

Shi Hao roared, pouring power into the scroll. It shone violently and disintegrated, and the blood-red word “Kill” flew forth, crossing the heavens, suppressing the silver ferocious beast.

This divine-class artifact was a one-time consumable, its power unimaginably immense. However, once truly activated, it could no longer be preserved.

The blood-red “Kill” illuminated the sky scarlet, even the sun turning crimson. All eyes turned red with sky-high killing intent.

“It’s useless. You chose the wrong opponent. Among the divine beings who crossed realms, my defense ranks among the highest,” said the pangolin with cruel laughter.

Suddenly, its body staggered, a streak of blood appearing between its brows, nearly causing its divine consciousness to go into chaos. Its mighty form swayed.

“It’s a soul attack!” the silver-haired being behind exclaimed in surprise.

When that blood-red “Kill” descended, its main assault aimed to sever the pangolin’s soul, not merely its physical body. The beast had underestimated him, suffering a hidden blow.

Clearly, this was not a random act, but a targeted strike. The pangolin’s silver scales made its corporeal form impregnable, yet it couldn’t resist attacks upon its soul. Just now, it had been momentarily stunned, letting down its guard.

“Roar…”

The pangolin roared fiercely. All its scales quivered, forming vortex after vortex, eroding the bloody “Kill” character and annihilating it.

The strokes of the killing character unraveled, transforming into dripping long swords, piercing toward the pangolin’s soul, finally erupting with a radiance tenfold brighter than sun and sky. The heavens and earth trembled violently in the sky.

Yet, when the brilliance faded, the pangolin’s massive form still floated above, its eyes icy-cold and unyielding. Its soul remained intact, although a thin trail of blood trickled from its brow.

“A one-time killing intent scroll—a fine artifact indeed. I’ve suffered a minor setback. You’ve grown more tempting. Feasting upon such blood is truly enjoyable,” said the pangolin.

Shi Hao said nothing. He transformed into a golden-winged Kun Peng with the 72 Metamorphosis Changes, fleeing far away at full speed.

In the blink of an eye, he had crossed thousands of miles, far from the imperial capital, arriving at a range of hills where he halted and glanced back.

The three deities approached without haste, their expressions a mix of amusement and indifference, unshaken, utterly unconcerned about any danger he might pose.

“Kill!”

Shi Hao roared fiercely. The earth trembled as boulders rolled, glyphs lit up, and killing beams surged backward. An ancient slaying array was activated, releasing boundless radiance, attacking the three deities above.

Previously, Moon Chan Fairy had ambushed him here, summoning meteors that nearly claimed his life. Later, he turned the site around, enlisting the help of the Divine Stone to lay an array, slaying Elders of the Heaven-Repairing Sect here.

Eventually, he further enhanced the array with divine materials, strengthening its power after the Divine Stone refined it.

Now, commanding it personally, he fully activated the slaying formation against the three deities. The mountains trembled, boulders soared, and killing light boiled tumultuously through the air!

Yet, again, it proved ineffective. The three deities broke through, radiating divine glyphs, looking down upon humanity, utterly invincible, untouched.

Shi Hao sighed deeply. The gap between them was far too great. These three had long ignited divine flames, standing high above. The forces of the mundane world could not even scratch them.

“You cannot accept it, nor can you bear it. But a wretch like you can change nothing,” said the silver-haired Yang Li, nearing closer, extending a giant hand forward.

Shi Hao flicked his sleeve. A fiery red lotus, glistening and dripping with vitality, flew from his robes into the giant hand.

Instantly, a sea of flames surged. A colossal lotus blossomed, its mighty aura shaking the mountains beneath as if they might explode.

Another mighty artifact, equally one-time-use—the crimson lotus burst into raging divine flames, seemingly ready to incinerate the world.

Though still distant, parts of the mountains below became molten, collapsing into rivers of lava, terrifying in their destruction.

Even the air twisted in the inferno as a red lotus blossomed in midair, its might sweeping in all directions, engulfing the silver-haired deity, aiming to destroy him utterly.

Boom!

Eventually, the red lotus exploded in a firestorm, engulfing heaven and earth, the earth below melting into a sea of magma.

Yet, the silver-haired youth still stood unharmed above. One of his arms was blackened, particularly his palm, charred and injured.

“Useless!” He shook his head slightly, then gave his arm a flick. Black ash fell away, peeling off an old layer of skin. The arm and fingers that remained were white and lustrous again.

“Not being a god, you can never grasp this realm. Even with mighty artifacts, you cannot fully master them. We can easily evade the most fearsome impacts,” Yang Li said, his expression disdainful. Though injured, he remained unfazed.

Shi Hao fell silent. Truly, he had no more power to use. He couldn’t kill them.

The three deities stood together, advancing coldly, their gazes deep and emotionless, preparing to seize the Indestructible Golden Body armor from him.

“This is your power? You dare to oppose us in battle?”

“You called us false gods, claiming we should die. With such meager techniques, what arrogance you have! In the end, you’re still an ant.”

They spoke indifferently, not regarding him as a true threat at all.

Without a word, Shi Hao turned and fled. He slapped a talisman onto his body—a pale-yellow slip of paper inscribed with ancient, complex glyphs. An early treasure, the Earth-Shrinking Talisman. Combined with the Kun Peng Body Technique, his speed reached its extreme limit.

The three deities changed expressions; they truly feared losing him. Shi Hao’s speed was too fast, like flickering light rapidly retreating.

He fled for an entire day and night. During this time, Shi Hao continuously replenished his energy with Magic AoiSeed, putting vast distances between them. Yet, the three deities locked their senses onto him, relentlessly pursuing, reacquiring him time after time.

“It’s no use. You cannot escape; your death is inevitable.”

Eventually, Shi Hao activated an altar within a colossal city in the Shi Kingdom, opening a channel instantly transporting him to the Northern Sea, where he now stood atop the boundless ocean waves.

How mighty were the three deities? Standing upon the altar, gazing at the flickering glyphs, they quickly deduced his destination coordinates and pursued him to the Northern Sea.

Above the azure waves, Shi Hao followed the route he remembered, furiously circulating the Kun Peng Method, hoping to resonate and locate the Kun Peng Nest, using it to suppress the three deities!

Even further, he wished to summon the Kun Peng’s divine weapon—the Heaven-Arduous Halberd—to slay these three gods!

However, such matters could not be dictated by his will. In the end, the Northern Sea held nothing for him, and he nearly died on several occasions.

Their eyes gleamed brilliantly, searing with passion. Naturally, they sensed what might be the flawless Kun Peng cultivation method, making them all the more determined—resolute in capturing him alive!

Shi Hao was battered and exhausted, at his wit’s end. If this continued, he would face annihilation, a death likely horrifying and pitiful.

Shi Hao sighed deeply, feeling utterly hopeless, the light of day nowhere in sight. He left the Northern Sea, fleeing onto land, ceaselessly weaving through the terrain, seeking large cities.

Throughout this flight, the three pursuing experts unleashed mere residual waves of their divine techniques, yet each still gravely wounded Shi Hao, causing him to spit blood, nearly dying on the road.

“Flee, use up all your strength—I enjoy this hunting game. I love watching you die, exhausted like a wild beast, in terror,” Yang Li said.

Spitting a mouthful of blood, Shi Hao’s eyes burned with determination. He resolved to flee to a certain place—truly, he had not wished to return there; surviving his previous encounter was sheer luck. But now, he had no choice.

“Let me bring you death—even if you are gods, you shall taste desperation, fear, and helplessness!” He clenched his teeth, making a decision within his heart, even if it cost his own life.

A pity the Seven Deities were not all here; otherwise, perhaps he could have dealt with them all at once!
