Chapter 1286: A Glimpse into the Darkened Future

“Seen before? This is truly like a fairy tale—how could it be possible? It’s absurd!”

One lived billions of years ago, the other in the present era, separated by an entire epoch. How could they have met?

Yet, this was one of the Ten Fierce, once among the mightiest immortals, a figure of supreme status who shouldn’t lie.

The contradiction left Shi Hao momentarily dazed, unsure whether to believe it. He was deeply puzzled—what kind of upheaval could bridge such a gap?

“Roar—!”

Beside him, the golden ant let out a piercing cry. At this moment, it was no longer small—its body towered like a mountain, radiant gold, every movement shaking the void and splitting the skies.

Alas, it didn’t know its father’s imprint had manifested. Unable to face him, it was now frenzied, its will lost.

The middle-aged man, his golden hair cascading past his waist, stood tall and majestic, the starry sky serving as his backdrop. His gaze blazed with intensity, as if looking down upon all heroes across time!

Slowly, his eyes softened as they fell upon the little Heavenly Horned Ant, a tenderness unbefitting a peerless powerhouse who once dominated the world. No longer did he exude an aura that could swallow mountains and rivers.

This was kinship—a father’s love. Even the invincible Heavenly Horned Ant had a gentle side when seeing his child before him. This was a ruler, a sovereign of his era!

“I understand now,” Shi Hao murmured, piecing things together. He recalled an event three years prior—on the Immortal Battlefield, a river of time had stretched across the heavens, and a colossus from antiquity had descended its currents to meet him!

Had it not been for a woman in white who appeared out of nowhere and repelled the ancient ancestor from the foreign realm, Shi Hao would likely have perished.

She had stood far away, peerless in grace, leaving an indelible impression—yet her face remained unseen. The only clue to her identity was a ghostly mask, unrecognizable to him.

If two individuals could stand upon the river of time and gaze upon eternity, then the Heavenly Horned Ant must have seen him the same way.

For in his era, the Heavenly Horned Ant was undoubtedly among the strongest, his physical prowess unmatched, unrivaled under the heavens!

“Senior, did you peer into the future and see me?” Shi Hao asked.

“You’re not entirely dull,” the Heavenly Horned Ant replied, turning to face him. Within his golden pupils, scenes unfolded—stars falling, immortal beings locked in battle, the collapse of a great world, its remnants forming the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths!

Boom!

For a moment, Shi Hao felt a terrifying aura wash over him, as if he had been transported to the end of the Immortal Ancient Era, witnessing galaxies torn asunder, worlds collapsing, all life withering away.

Swoosh!

Suddenly, he saw a peerless sword strike—a dull, green blade that pierced the cosmos in an instant before embedding itself between his brows. Agony flared.

“Ah—!” Shi Hao cried out, his body turning ice-cold, drenched in sweat, every hair standing on end.

In the next moment, he realized—this was the Heavenly Horned Ant’s memory. During a fierce battle, he had been ambushed, a sword nailing him through the forehead, his blood staining the stars.

This was a warning—a message to Shi Hao about a supreme enemy he must beware!

A being had once wielded that green sword, piercing the Heavenly Horned Ant’s brow, wounding the one hailed as the mightiest flesh in existence.

“That person still lives,” the Heavenly Horned Ant said.

These words confirmed to Shi Hao that the ant was guiding him, revealing the most terrifying foes he would face in the future.

“Boom!”

Next, a black figure appeared in the Heavenly Horned Ant’s eyes—a massive hand blotting out the heavens, descending upon the firmament.

Shi Hao felt suffocated, momentarily immobilized, unable to move!

“Hmm?” The figure felt familiar, vividly clear.

It was that being—a colossus who had gazed down from the upper reaches of the river of time, intent on killing him, only to be repelled by the woman in white.

This, too, must have been the Heavenly Horned Ant’s experience—once entangled with this foe!

“Swoosh!”

A divine radiance tore through eternity, annihilating the cosmos—a golden spear, its tip so blinding it threatened to shatter souls and sear eyes.

The third supreme expert from the foreign realm had struck!

The spear was swift, unstoppable, shattering all in its path. With a sickening crunch, blood sprayed as Shi Hao felt it pierce his chest, shattering his bones, severing his meridians, before the killing intent surged toward his soul!

This was a spear capable of destroying worlds!

Clearly, this was the Heavenly Horned Ant’s ordeal.

Amidst this strike, the ant had roared, stars trembling and falling as he fought back fiercely against his nemesis.

“The original world’s destruction, its division into the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths—this battle played no small part,” Shi Hao marveled.

Then, darkness swallowed his vision as if he had fainted.

Shi Hao knew—this was the moment the Heavenly Horned Ant, grievously wounded, had left the battlefield. And so, too, did he exit this vision.

“I slew countless enemies, felling so-called immortals one after another. Yet these three beings survived—they were truly fearsome,” the Heavenly Horned Ant said.

They were undoubtedly among the most terrifying entities from the other shore. Whether stronger ones existed, the ant couldn’t say—after that battle, he had been left half-crippled.

Once a prodigy, peerless and unmatched, he had been broken in the apocalyptic war.

No doubt, that battle had been glorious, worthy of the annals of history—a clash of the highest order, earth-shaking and brutal.

Yet, all had turned to dust, leaving no records. Future generations would never know, their memories erased.

Perhaps only by journeying to the other shore, the flourishing world, could one uncover the truth—learning of their ancestors’ tragic brilliance from the mouths of their enemies.

“I don’t know what foes the others faced, but they truly spared no effort for me—three supreme experts, accompanied by countless immortals. Hah!” The Heavenly Horned Ant sneered, his voice tinged with regret and defiance. In the end, he had fallen.

“In you, I see my younger self—pursuing the pinnacle, surpassing the strongest. Had you been of my lineage, I’d have been even more pleased,” the ant said.

At this moment, his aura intensified, his golden mane spreading like a cosmic tapestry. Stars shattered around him, the sight utterly terrifying!

Standing alone at the universe’s heart, he gazed upon the rise and fall of epochs, the sinking of the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths, his expression serene, as if detached from all worldly concerns.

“Senior, what did you see?” Shi Hao pressed, eager to know what the future held.

“I glimpsed my child, and thus saw you. He fought by your side, flames of war scorching the heavens!” The Heavenly Horned Ant’s eyes blazed like fire, his aura resurgent, as if yearning to return to battle.

Alas, only his remnant soul remained.

“What was the outcome?”

“Unclear,” the ant shook his head.

“How could you not see?” Shi Hao refused to believe it.

“The war isn’t far off—more terrifying than what we endured, its reach unimaginable. I never thought some forces would emerge then!” the ant said.

Shi Hao was stunned. Other entities in the future war? The thought sent chills down his spine—was there any hope for the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths?

“The darkest era in history approaches—surpassing the Immortal Ancient, more horrifying than what we faced. Are you prepared? Are you afraid?!” the ant roared.

“Afraid of what? I don’t even know what they are. Let them come!” Shi Hao declared.

“If one day, no one stands with you, the world silenced into submission—would you still resist?”

“Without hesitation!” Shi Hao answered instantly.

“In a desolate world, alone on the battlefield, bleeding from youth till your hair turns white, till your twilight years, your life flickering—would you still fight?” the ant asked.

“Is this the future you saw for me?” Shi Hao asked calmly.

“Merely a hypothetical,” the ant replied.

“What of the others? Why am I the only one left?” Shi Hao demanded.

“I saw two outcomes—this is but one,” the ant said.

Even one as mighty as him felt complex emotions toward this youth, never imagining one could face a fate worse than their own epoch.

“There can only be one outcome—not two!” Shi Hao insisted.

“What I saw was indistinct—some visions overlapped, blurred. There were two scenes—one with others, one with you. I could only interpret them as two endings,” the ant admitted.

“I refuse to accept a future glimpsed in fragments. I believe my fists will carve my destiny, forging a bright new world!” Shi Hao clenched his fists, his voice unshakable.

Time and again, others had foretold ominous futures. He would not yield. He trusted in his strength to overturn fate and rewrite the ending!

“Who are the enemies I’ll face?” Shi Hao asked.

“Many. Some even the Immortal Ancient couldn’t foresee—forces long dormant, now emerging,” the ant’s eyes burned like torches.

“For instance, the so-called Guardians of the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths—why do they bear golden blood? From whence do they come? All will be revealed! And others from their origin.”

The ant’s words carried weight, his tone laced with regret. How he wished for five hundred more years to face those foes!

A warrior unbroken, a peerless existence, he longed to battle all the world’s strongest.

“You’ll find the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths but a small stage. The true battlefield is boundless, its scale beyond imagining!” the ant said.

He spoke no further, for Shi Hao had yet to reach that level. Premature knowledge might only breed despair.

“I want the Indestructible Scripture!” Shi Hao stated bluntly.

Few dared speak so directly to the Heavenly Horned Ant, demanding his treasures. Yet Shi Hao was unflinching.

“Very well. I’ll guide you to it,” the ant agreed readily, moved by the horrors he’d glimpsed—a future of unparalleled strife.

He hoped this world would produce one who could rise, contend, and triumph!

Recognizing Shi Hao’s potential, the ant resolved to nurture him without delay.

“Swoosh!”

The ant pointed, sending a streak of light—a memory imprint accompanied by falling stars—straight into Shi Hao’s brow!

“When I cultivated this art, I never achieved perfection. Likely because the scripture was incomplete. I hope you’ll retrieve the full text and avoid my regret!” the ant admonished.
