Chapter 89: Moonless Night, Whistling Wind

In the pitch-black night sky, a silver moon hung high, its faint moonlight draping the earth in a veil of silvery gauze, lending an air of mystery to the scene. After the clamor of the day, Wutan City fell into darkness and silence. Occasionally, the sounds of men’s breaths and women’s stifled moans would escape from some of the houses on the streets.

In the Xiao family’s rear courtyard, a young man lay on his back on the bed, his eyes, as black as the night sky, glinting with a rising chill. “Teacher, what is the extent of your strength in this state?” After a moment of silence, Xiao Yan suddenly asked softly.

“Hmm?” The voice from the black ring on his finger sounded casually. After a brief pause, the Pharmacist Elder mumbled, “Although I am currently in a soul form, I can still handle Great Warriors or Lesser Spirit Souls with the help of the Heavenly Fire.”

Xiao Yan’s face showed a hint of joy, but his eyes flashed with a cold gleam. “Do you want to go kill that boy from earlier?”

Seeing Xiao Yan’s expression, the Pharmacist Elder asked, a bit surprised. “Gally Bi is not worth my effort,” Xiao Yan smiled and said lightly, “Two months are almost up, and I’m losing patience with the Gamma family. So, I plan to secretly eliminate their alchemist, Liu Xi. Once he’s dead, the Gamma family will lose their source of healing potions and the last bit of market they have. Even if the family survives, their power will drastically decline, and they will no longer pose a threat to the Xiao family.”

“Hmm, really because you’re losing patience? That doesn’t sound like you,” the Pharmacist Elder teased from the ring. “It seems you really care about that girl, Xuner. That guy was just a little vulgar, and you’re already holding a grudge. You’re quite the jealous child, aren’t you?”

Xiao Yan’s face flushed slightly, embarrassed at having his thoughts exposed. He snapped, “I don’t have much time to waste. Even if I hadn’t met him today, I would have started using other means.”

“Alright, alright, it’s not about the girl…” The Pharmacist Elder laughed, his tone mocking, making Xiao Yan roll his eyes in exasperation.

“Since you’re ready to act, let’s go. I’m in a soul form, so I’ll need to use your body,” the Pharmacist Elder said, stopping his teasing.

Xiao Yan nodded quickly, leaped off the bed, and retrieved a dark red storage ring from his pocket. He then took out a prepared set of black robes, putting them on deftly. Instantly, the lanky youth transformed into a mysterious, bulky figure in a dark robe.

“Let’s go. You don’t need to do anything; I’ll control your body. With my soul enveloping you, there’s no need to worry about being identified by your aura,” the Pharmacist Elder reminded, seeing Xiao Yan was ready.

“Okay.” Nodding, Xiao Yan moved quietly to the window, looked around furtively, and then leapt out. As he fell, a mysterious, powerful force surged from the ring on his finger, enveloping him. Suddenly, his falling form hovered in mid-air. Lightly touching the roof, the black figure, like a hidden vulture, silently slipped out of the Xiao residence and disappeared into the night.

On such a moonless, windy night, it was the perfect time for killing.

Gamma Family.

“Mr. Liu Xi, can you really make other types of pills?” In the well-lit hall, Gally Bi, who had been in a foul mood, heard Liu Xi’s proud statement and, after a moment of surprise, asked excitedly.

Liu Xi, pleased with Gally Bi’s excitement, took a sip of tea. His expression was rather self-satisfied. “Besides healing potions, I can also make a pill very suitable for mercenaries. It’s called Power Reserve Pill. It can increase a person’s strength by about 10% in a short time.”

Gally Bi’s joy increased. If he could indeed make such a special pill, the Gamma family could use it to advertise and regain some popularity. Maybe they could even surpass the Xiao family again.

“But this Power Reserve Pill can’t be mass-produced like the healing potions. With my current strength, I can only make about twenty pills a day,” Liu Xi said regretfully.

“Hehe, twenty pills, that’s fine. We can hold auctions and sell to the highest bidder. Anyway, the healing potions are the main product; we just use this to boost our popularity,” Gally Bi waved his hand, smiling.

“Hey, Gally Bi, I can make the Power Reserve Pill, but according to our agreement, I’m only responsible for the healing potions, right?” Seeing Gally Bi’s interest piqued, Liu Xi’s eyes flickered, and he smiled suddenly.

Gally Bi’s face changed slightly. He knew what this guy was up to. But at this point, he had no choice but to ask, “So, what does Mr. Liu Xi mean?”

“Hehe, don’t worry. I know the situation of the Gamma family, so I won’t ask for too much. I just want you to get that girl, Xuaner, for me,” Liu Xi said with a lecherous grin.

Before his smile could fully appear, Gally Bi’s face froze, and his eyes twitched. He hadn’t expected this brazen man to have his sights set on the Xiao family.

“Mr. Liu Xi, if we touch the Xiao family, Xiao Zhan will have an excuse to declare war on us. It won’t just be an economic battle; it will be a real fight,” Gally Bi sighed, grimacing.

Tapping the table, Liu Xi chuckled, “That’s not my problem. Whether you take her by force or use drugs, I just want the result. As long as you get her, I’ll start making the Power Reserve Pills.”

Gally Bi’s eyes twitched again. Though furious, he forced a smile, “Can I think about it? I’ll give you an answer tomorrow?”

“Hehe, sure. But remember, the Gamma family and the Xiao family are already at odds. What’s one more grudge?” Liu Xi sneered, standing up and walking out, heading to his room. He was eager to find a young, beautiful maid to sate his desires, aroused by the ethereal beauty of the girl earlier.

As Liu Xi disappeared, Gally Bi’s face darkened. After a while, he exhaled, “This woman-obsessed scoundrel will die by a woman’s hand one day.”

In a room in the rear courtyard, Xiao Yan looked at the pretty girl unconscious on the bed, her thin bathrobe revealing much of her enticing white skin. “He’s back,” the Pharmacist Elder’s voice made Xiao Yan quickly hide in a corner, watching through a small gap.

The door creaked open, and Liu Xi’s lecherous laughter echoed, “Haha, my darling, I’m back. Prepare for a wild night.”

“Such a brain-dead fool. Pharmacist Elder, let’s get started,” Xiao Yan said coldly in his mind.

“Wait! Something’s wrong!” Before the Pharmacist Elder could finish, his urgent shout made Xiao Yan tense.

Cold sweat broke out on Xiao Yan’s forehead as he stood frozen. “Left!” The Pharmacist Elder’s voice whispered again.

Following the reminder, Xiao Yan slowly turned his head to look at the left window. His eyes widened… The window, previously closed, was now open, the moonlight spilling in. Sitting on the edge of the window was a girl in a golden dress, her smooth, pale legs drawing a tempting arc in the air. The moonlight illuminated her exquisite face, making her look like a dazzling, mysterious goddess.

Seeing the girl, Xiao Yan felt a dryness in his throat and murmured, almost in a groan, “Xuner?”
