Chapter 700: My Heart is Made of Glass

“Damn it!” Jie burned with rage, watching Lin Fan leave, “Feng Qingzi, you will regret this.”

Feng Qingzi also inspired some apprehension in Jie. Moreover, there had been an agreement between the Ancient Clan and Feng Qingzi to stay out of each other’s affairs. Yet, both sides understood it was merely a temporary strategy to pacify the enemy.

“Senior, you’re incredible! I never imagined anyone could intimidate the Ancient Clan’s Supreme,” said Venerable Sakyamuni in shock.

He had never seen any living being dare to confront the Ancient Clan’s Supreme so boldly.

“Naturally, boy. Isn’t it an honor to have me as your master?” Feng Qingzi said, glancing at the gloomy Lin Fan with a smile.

“Old man, don’t brag. I only agreed because you forced me,” Lin Fan muttered, feeling his recent luck had been terrible.

To be outwitted by an old man was truly pitiful.

“Oh, forced you? I never force anyone. Fine, I’ll throw you down right now. Given Jie’s strength, finding you again will be but a blink of an eye,” Feng Qingzi said, ready to act as if he were about to throw Lin Fan off.

“What are you doing? Old man, don’t get physical. I’m just showing respect to elders, but don’t mistake this for fear,” Lin Fan refused to go down, for that would surely mean death.

Even so, he couldn’t afford to lose face. Seeing the old man’s smug expression, Lin Fan felt increasingly annoyed.

“Fine, fine. I won’t take you as a disciple anymore. You’re free to go, and I won’t stop you,” Feng Qingzi stopped and gestured for Lin Fan to leave.

Lin Fan looked at the old man and then toward the distance, where Jie still stood, his evil eyes fixed on them.

Gulp!

Lin Fan involuntarily felt nervous. Going down meant certain death, but he couldn’t afford to lose face either.

“So what? I’m not afraid of anyone, not even the Supreme!”

“Fine, I bid you farewell,” Feng Qingzi said calmly, showing no sign of reluctance.

“I’m really leaving now, don’t regret it later,” Lin Fan hesitated, glancing back repeatedly.

“I never go back on my word,” Feng Qingzi said, stroking his beard.

Lin Fan now felt tricked. He wanted to leave but couldn’t, knowing that doing so would lead to immediate danger.

Venerable Sakyamuni watched the scene unfold and sighed helplessly.

Sometimes, only a tough person could tame a tough one. Experience counts, and so do other things.

Of course, that last sentence should be adjusted: “Experience counts, and so does one’s own.”

“What? Can’t bear to leave?” Feng Qingzi smiled mockingly at Lin Fan, as if he had already figured him out.

“Who said I can’t leave? I’m just taking a breath of fresh air,” Lin Fan felt like crying, regretting his earlier stubbornness, now without any way out.

And this old man didn’t even follow the usual tactics, which was truly heart-wrenching.

At this moment, Venerable Sakyamuni felt it was time to intervene.

“Master Lin, look at how much Senior Feng wishes to take you as a disciple. Many geniuses would give anything for such an opportunity. For my sake, let’s just drop this and leave this place first,” Sakyamuni suggested.

Hearing this, Lin Fan suddenly glanced at the monk, realizing his mind was getting sharper. Leaving first and planning later made sense.

“Fine, I’ll do this for the monk’s sake,” Lin Fan waved his hand, finding a reluctant excuse to save face.

However, Feng Qingzi’s next words made Lin Fan feel resentful.

“I never force anyone. If you don’t wish to be my disciple, then forget it. I won’t risk my life for a stranger or provoke the Ancient Clan’s Supreme for no reason,” Feng Qingzi suddenly turned serious.

Suddenly, the atmosphere turned oppressive.

“Senior…” Venerable Sakyamuni sensed the situation changing.

Lin Fan, however, immediately dropped his smile and jumped down from the void without hesitation.

“Hmph! I, Lin Fan, will never bow to threats. Death means nothing. What can the Ancient Clan’s Supreme do to me? Would I really lower myself just to survive? Jie, if you dare, come fight me. Today, I’ll either die honorably or live shamefully.”

Although usually cheerful and cunning, Lin Fan had a proud nature and would never compromise for survival.

“This kid…” Feng Qingzi, seeing Lin Fan’s stubbornness, felt a surge of anger.

“Master Lin, what are you doing?” Venerable Sakyamuni cried out in alarm.

Seeing the human emerge from the void, the Supreme Jie sneered coldly and appeared before Lin Fan in an instant.

“Annoying human, no one will save you now,” Jie, surprised yet unhesitating, reached out to grab Lin Fan.

This palm strike seemed to capture the heavens and earth, sealing all escape routes.

“So strong,” Lin Fan thought, shocked but unafraid.

“Senior…” Venerable Sakyamuni looked at Feng Qingzi and sighed before jumping down to help, “Master Lin, let me assist you.”

“Monk, why did you come down here?” Seeing the monk risking his life, Lin Fan felt deeply moved.

“If you can fearlessly confront the Ancient Clan’s Supreme, how can I be a coward?” Sakyamuni replied.

“Haha, great! Let’s see the strength of the Ancient Clan’s Supreme today.”

Watching the two, Feng Qingzi furrowed his brows, his white beard trembling with anger.

“Damn kid! I’ve roamed through countless ages without ever bowing to anyone. Fine, who asked me to grow fond of you? If you don’t become someone great, I’ll personally kill you.”

Without hesitation, Feng Qingzi descended. Although Jie wasn’t the strongest among the Ancient Clan’s Supremes, he was still far beyond what these two could handle.

Lin Fan looked at the descending palm strike, his heart pounding. The immense power was simply unstoppable. One strike could kill them both.

Boom!

In an instant, Feng Qingzi suddenly appeared before Lin Fan, flicked his sleeve, and shattered the palm strike’s force.

“Jie, what do you think you’re doing?” Feng Qingzi roared, “Dare you attack my disciple while he’s just coming down to urinate? Do you really think I won’t kill you?”

“Feng Qingzi, you’ll pay for this,” Jie coldly replied, glaring at Lin Fan before leaving.

“Old man, who asked you to save me?” Lin Fan exhaled in relief, finally escaping death.

“Kid, I admit defeat. I apologize to you,” Feng Qingzi sighed. This kid was too damn stubborn. Even in his youth, he had never been this stubborn. Surviving thus far was truly a miracle.

Lin Fan looked at Feng Qingzi, unsure why the old man was being so kind to him. But deep down, having such a protective master wasn’t bad.

“Alright, seeing how old you are, I’ll spare you further shocks. Since you’re so eager to have me as your disciple, I’ll reluctantly agree.”

“Disciple Lin Fan pays homage to Master.”

“Haha… Good, good,” Feng Qingzi laughed heartily, feeling suddenly refreshed.

“Disciple, give me back my storage ring…”

“Storage ring? Gone! You deeply wounded your disciple’s heart earlier. My heart is fragile, easily broken. To make amends, you must give me the storage ring to calm me down, or I might die of sadness,” Lin Fan refused to let go of the item he had already obtained.

“Ah…” Feng Qingzi, hearing this, clutched his chest as if he might stop breathing.

In all of heaven and earth, where could one find such a shameless disciple?
