Chapter 948: A Soul-Shaking Passage

Appearing before Xiao Yan and the others was a storm formed by light silver spatial energy. Though not exceedingly large, it blocked the passage entirely. The surging suction force emanating from the silver storm made the space ship Xiao Yan was in tremble incessantly, giving it a precarious feeling.

“Spacial storm…”

Gazing at the rampaging silver storm within the passageway, Xin Lan’s face turned pale as she murmured to herself, never expecting the most unfortunate situation to finally materialize.

“Is this what a spacial storm is like… It’s truly terrifying. Such a profound spatial power, even a Battle Sect powerhouse would struggle to summon…”

Xiao Yan’s eyes were fixed on the snake-like form of the storm as he said slowly, “What shall we do now?”

With her brows furrowed, Little Healer Immortal replied, “We have no choice but to forcefully break through it. I believe the exit isn’t far from here, and once we reach it, we can escape the storm.”

Suppressing the fear in her heart, Xin Lan said, “I see.” Hearing this, Xiao Yan’s brow furrowed again, looking at the storm that was moving closer. With a deep breath, he commanded solemnly, “Little Healer Immortal, get ready to charge! You protect the boat, and I’ll control the speed!”

“Mm-hm,” Little Healer Immortal nodded, wasting no further words. Her lithe figure drifted back as an immense amount of fighting spirit gushed out, morphing into a vast gray-purple giant python with a length of over thirty meters. The python enveloped the ship, then let out a thunderous hiss.

“Go! Zi Yan, Xin Lan, hold tight!”

A stern command echoed from Xiao Yan’s mouth. With a wave of his sleeve, a torrent of robust battling energy infused the ship, propelling it forth like a released arrow, shooting into the raging silver storm after flashing past the thousands of kilometers distance.

Bang! Bang!

No sooner had the boat entered the storm than the vessel started to jolt violently. A grating sound continuously issued from the boat, which resembled a tiny skiff struggling in towering waves, on the verge of capsizing.

Feeling the terrible tear force coming from the spatial storm, Xiao Yan’s expression grew increasingly gloomy. Thank goodness for Little Healer Immortal’s formidable strength; if it were anyone else, they might not be able to resist such rips. Yet, even for her, this couldn’t last long. They must escape this cursed place as fast as possible.

Driven by this thought, Xiao Yan bared his teeth and injected more battling spirit, pushing the speed of the ship to the limit. Tiny flickers of silver spatial energy danced across the surface of the ship…

Amidst the vast spatial tempest, their puny craft seemed negligible. Even when Xiao Yan stretched the limits of their speed, the tear forces around them only intensified. Finally, even the gigantic purple-gray python began to wane, indicating that it too struggled against such violent suction despite its sheer force.

“Zi Yan, assist her!” Sensing the increasing turbulence of the ship, Xiao Yan’s eyes sharpened as he ordered firmly.

At his command, Zi Yan did not waste a breath, swiftly forming a series of dizzyingly complex seals. Instantly, strange purple crystalline rays surged out from her, while her petite frame elongated quickly. Her purple hair shot up like wild grass, transforming in the blink of an eye into a cascading purple waterfall down to her shapely hips.

In these dire moments, Zi Yan unleashed a secret technique, elevating her fighting capacity to its peak state, making her into an alluring beauty. As the mysterious aura rose, it almost surpassed Xiao Yan in momentum.

“Amber Solidification!” She cried, radiance bursting from her crown and shaping into a rather corpulent yet unclear magical beast soul.

As soon as the creature appeared, it emitted a thunderous roar turning into lavender sonic waves that resisted the rippling forces of the tempest, greatly relieving the pressure on Little Healer Immortal, whose delicate face tensed, as she hurried to reinforce the cracking serpent.

Though feeling the somewhat steadier motion of the boat, Xiao Yan dared not relax for he knew that the destructive power would only escalate – this was merely the beginning!

Predictably, the short calmness ended quickly with another surge of violent shaking as the savage energies, akin to toxic serpents, tore at the protecting serpent, generating louder groans inside the cabin.

Seeing the peril mounting, Xiao Yan let out a low roar and placed both palms upon key energy injection spots at the bow. Waves of battling spirits poured forth as he strained to keep the ship from being drawn into the abyssal void.

During this frantic effort, Zi Yan’s protective luster also grew thicker until her toes hovered half-inch above the deck, casting a circle of crystal-like radiant barrier encircling the vessel. The emerging violet lights created a remarkable sight, where numerous aggressive energies were simply deflected off, colliding with subsequent forces, erupting chaotically in mid-air, distorting the void.

Although highly effective, it seemed extremely taxing for Zi Yan, so much so that the glimmer faded in several minutes. At its shattering point, a low grunt emerged from her lips. Droplets of blood trickled from a corner of her mouth and her gemstone-eyed gleam dimmed noticeably.

“Big Brother Xiao Yan, the exit is close!” Suddenly, Xin Lan’s joyous shout sounded like an energizing agent. Glancing up, indeed, there, amidst the distant dark, a ring of silver shimmer indicated the wormhole’s exit.

Bang!

But just as delight began, a monstrous power struck the hull threateningly. Only with great exertion, managed to keep it intact. Finding an opening, Xiao Yan glanced behind – the sight of suddenly frenzied chaos chilled his bones, seeing suction pressures dramatically increase, dragging the ship back dangerously.

His eyes flashed crimson as desperation gripped him. If pulled back into the turmoil again, survival would likely become impossible. A primal bellow erupted from Xiao Yan. His bulging veins snaked menacingly under emerald fire-fueled vigor, hastening the speed minutely. Just as the acceleration gained ground, the suction increased exponentially creating a deadlock, shifting the colossal vortex towards them inexorably.

“Speed’s maxed,” he yelled, “we’re losing time!” Eyeing Zi Yan, “Channel your vigor, enhance the speed!” Startled but undeterred, Zi Yan rushed forward, pressing her hands to accelerate the process. Switching positions, Xiao Yan unfurled his massive bone wings. Leaving the stunned Xin Lan, he flew outside the ship landing astern. Sweeping sleeves released fearsome blasts propelling the ship outwards. But this thrust also sent him staggering momentarily until lightning sparked up, enabling frantic beating of his bones. Trailing the spacecraft closely, dodging deadly drags.

The storm’s suction escalated frighteningly with one man’s efforts insufficient, while Little Immortal was bound by duties, the ship faced reverse danger once more.

“Darn!” Roiling fury painted Xiao Yan’s visage. Back to the rear he went, reinvigorating with brute strength pushing a critical gap free, sending the vehicle rocketing, appearing briefly at the tunnel brink, eventually fading.

Breathing a sigh of relief watching the safe exodus, a quick sidelong glare confirmed his near-death chase’s success though the approaching calamity loomed. Wings pulsing, the Thundercloud Steps pushed beyond bounds, trailing phantoms shredded apart instantly.

After a brief flight, the exit neared Xiao Yan’s grasp; yet as he prepared for ejection, chilling premonition compelled him downward evasively — a yard-wide silver force resembling a viper shot upwards crashing into the exit portal, flooding light. Synchronously, backdraft multiplied, shocking him. Mustering strength, bone flaps beat fiercely, Xiao Yan transformed into silver blur diving headlong out the shimmer.

The moment Xiao Yan vanished, silence reclaimed. Space devoid except relentless hurricane activity lingering…

Here lay an expansive green meadow, at the central plaza dotted with mystic etchings emitting ethereal light waves, stood tranquil until sudden gust unveiled a silver halo disgorging battered forms.

“Where’s Xiao Yan? Why didn’t he emerge?”

Panic-stricken, Little Healer Immortal and Zi Yan, reverting to girl-child form—equally pale, eyes glazed, inquired simultaneously. Comfort came via Xin Lan pointing ground runes, confirming exit.

“He did escape but possibly deviated in transit, meaning random drop somewhere on Central Plains. Destination unknown,” her stammered reply froze them.
