Chapter 476: A Stern Warning

Shui Miao stepped back, and the large black cat immediately pounced onto the clothes, tearing and biting frantically.

“There’s definitely something wrong!”

Shui Miao’s mind raced, contemplating whether to inform Yao Kang and have him continue the investigation.

At that moment, Yao Kang sensed something unusual and walked over toward Shui Miao.

“Master, what exactly is going on here?” Yao Kang whispered cautiously, lowering his voice.

Shui Miao smiled meaningfully and said calmly, “Uncle Yao, I’m just taking a quick look. Don’t get your hopes up too high. This cemetery also has surveillance cameras. Can you get the footage from a month ago, specifically the days before the caretaker Old Huang left?”

“Hmm, that shouldn’t be too hard. I’ll have Yao Ye handle it right away,” Yao Kang’s eyes flickered. “Master, rest assured, as soon as we find the culprit, not a single penny will be missing from what I promised. Also, for your safety, I won’t mention you’re a Feng Shui master. This stays between you and me, heaven and earth know…”

“Alright!”

Shui Miao raised his hand, interrupting Yao Kang. “It’s getting late. Uncle Yao, your precious son is dragging his feet so much, it’s really holding things up! Also, the way he looks at people seems a bit off. He’s a policeman, but somehow he gives me the vibe of a small-time hooligan. Uncle Yao, I mean no offense, but if your son really has ill intentions, you’ll have to put in some serious effort. Because these negative energies always affect those with ill intentions first.”

Shui Miao spoke unhurriedly, showing no particular emotion.

Yao Kang, however, was deeply shaken after hearing this, because his son indeed had some bad tendencies.

“Ah, it’s all my fault for spoiling him. But now he’s grown up, and I don’t know what else to do!” Yao Kang looked visibly anxious. A father knows his son best, and naturally he hoped his son would improve.

Shui Miao turned and looked at Yao Kang. “Uncle Yao, rotten meat must be cut away. If your son isn’t behaving properly, you must discipline him. You understand this better than anyone. I’m just a Feng Shui master who’s been paid by your family, so I naturally want to handle things thoroughly, and I can earn a good reputation in the process. However, fate also depends on virtue. Those with good virtue can be helped even if they’re poor. But for those with bad virtue, no matter how rich or powerful they are, even a Feng Shui master can hardly protect them. So, I can only help you address the symptoms. As for the root cause, that’s something you must handle yourself.”

After saying this, Shui Miao turned and started walking around, inspecting the surroundings carefully.

Yao Kang could tell that Shui Miao had spoken from the heart, offering sound advice.

Seeing that Yao Ye had still not arrived, Yao Kang had no choice but to run toward the cemetery’s entrance. Due to the scorching heat, Yao Kang’s clothes were soaked through, his hat was crooked, and he looked utterly disheveled… He had raised a son who wouldn’t listen, and now the son was disappointing—whom could he blame?

To Yao Kang’s great frustration, Yao Ye had actually been stopped by the cemetery caretakers Zhang and Liu. The three were arguing and tugging at each other.

It was a rule that no unauthorized digging or construction was allowed inside the cemetery.

Yao Ye had brought a shovel and a hammer, so naturally the caretakers had stopped him.

In his rush, Yao Kang had forgotten to inform the cemetery’s supervisor. He hurriedly called the supervisor, asking him to come over immediately.

Just as Yao Kang was in the midst of this chaos, Shui Miao made a new discovery.

Under a patch of weeds, Shui Miao found a rusty iron hammer and seven ceramic jars.

The jars were round in shape and looked quite unusual—at least Shui Miao had never seen jars like these before.

A few of the jars had fallen over, revealing some black, dirt-like substance inside.

Shui Miao didn’t dare to act rashly.

Instead, he retreated first, drove to the main gate, and upon seeing the standoff, immediately got out of the car to understand the situation. However, the cemetery supervisor was being particularly stubborn and refused to let Yao Kang’s group inside.

Yao Kang didn’t bother arguing with him and simply waited for the highest-ranking supervisor to arrive.

As time ticked by, Shui Miao grew anxious, unwilling to waste too much time there, so he hatched a plan. He directly said to Yao Ye, “Call your colleagues and have them arrest all of them as suspects.”

“What? What did you say?”

The bald supervisor immediately became alert.

He thought he could use his authority over the premises to extract some bribes, but he hadn’t expected this young man to take such a hard stance.

“Hmph!”

Shui Miao sneered coldly at the bald supervisor and then said to Yao Kang, “Uncle Yao, call the TV station. I have a major case to announce. Everyone in this cemetery is a major suspect.”

“Kid, do you think we’re three-year-olds? Do you really think a few words from you can scare us? Naive! You’re too naive!” The bald supervisor had a greasy face, small triangular eyes shining with sharpness, and crooked, yellowed teeth that stood out glaringly under the sunlight.

Shui Miao sneered again, turned to face the bald supervisor, and said sternly, “A month ago, your Old Huang suddenly left, and you certainly don’t know the reason. Furthermore, are you even aware that the largest mausoleum here belongs to Uncle Yao’s father? More than ten ancestral tombs of the Yao family have been drilled with holes right under your noses, contaminated with poisonous substances, and ensnared in a deadly Feng Shui curse formation! As a martyr’s family, out of generosity, they refrained from holding you accountable and were even considering repairing the tombs themselves and letting the matter drop. But what have you been doing? You good-for-nothing, talk-only individuals actually dared to obstruct this generous martyr’s family! Where is your conscience? Where is your moral底线 (bottom line)? And on what basis do you continue to strut about, acting like self-important managers? Now, we’re going to hold you responsible and make you finally wake up! You fat, bloated good-for-nothings, what kind of people are you anyway!”

Shui Miao grew more and more impassioned, and his final furious roar completely stunned everyone.

The bald supervisor wiped spittle from his face, his eyelid twitching uncontrollably, his mind completely overwhelmed.

The two young guards were also stunned, their mouths hanging open, forgotten to close.

At this moment, Yao Ye suddenly realized that this young man in front of him was truly amazing, cool beyond belief—a genuine, authentic Feng Shui master. He himself had worn his police uniform and talked for so long without any effect, yet this man said a few words and everything changed.

Yao Kang was also deeply moved. What Shui Miao said was spot on, so satisfying. How unjust it was for a martyr’s family to suffer such unfair treatment!

“I’ll call right now. I have Director Yang’s number.”

Excitedly trembling, Yao Kang took out his phone and began searching for Director Yang’s contact.

“Brother Yao!”

Suddenly, the bald supervisor grabbed Yao Kang’s hand, then “thud” went down on his knees. “Brother Yao, we were wrong! We’re guilty! Please, with your great kindness, spare us and let us keep our jobs!”

“Hmph! Now you’re finally scared!?”

Upon hearing this, Yao Ye immediately became arrogant, clenched his fist, and charged toward the bald supervisor.

“Hey!”

But Shui Miao quickly furrowed his brow, grabbing Yao Ye’s arm, and sighed deeply, saying, “Yao Ye, Yao Ye, why can’t your heart be a bit broader? Killing someone doesn’t require more than a nod of submission. They’ve already knelt down. What else do you want? Don’t forget, you are a sacred people’s police officer. Give others a chance, and you’re also giving yourself a chance!”
