Chapter 944: Side Business

Zhang Shan, holding a torch, was patrolling near the entrance of the teaching building when he noticed movement in the distance. Soon, he saw a shadow approaching.

“Hey!” Zhang Shan shouted symbolically, “Where are you from? Are you an old member?”

Upon hearing Zhang Shan’s voice, the figure stopped at a distance, and only then did Zhang Shan sense something strange.

This seemed like a corpse.

Zhang Shan took a few steps forward and looked more carefully.

Indeed, the person before him appeared long dead, her face pale, eyes not even open, and blood continuously flowing from a wound in her abdomen.

“Damn…” Zhang Shan scratched his head and then walked closer with his torch raised.

Although the situation was eerie, Zhang Shan was fearless and reached the woman in just a few steps.

As if sensing something, the woman’s eyes moved unnaturally. First her left eye opened, then the right, revealing completely dilated pupils. She then blankly looked up at the sky.

“This is truly bizarre…” Zhang Shan frowned, raising the torch to get a better look at the woman. “Hey, what the hell are you? Can you speak?”

The woman’s neck made a few creaking sounds, then she lowered her head, her body twisting. Slowly, she stepped back, gradually disappearing into darkness.

As Zhang Shan was about to lose sight of her, he saw the woman suddenly speed up, bypassing him and running toward the teaching building.

“Damn it!”

Zhang Shan immediately panicked. Although he didn’t know what it was, no one could allow a dead person to run rampant in “Tiantangkou.” He decisively chased after her.

The figure’s speed far exceeded Zhang Shan’s expectations. Despite his best efforts, he could only watch as her figure grew more distant.

Whether it was due to the darkness or his imagination, Zhang Shan seemed to see the woman’s feet leave the ground, as if she were being pulled away by something.

“There’s something going on!” Zhang Shan shouted loudly, “Enemy attack! Enemy attack!”

The loud voice caused chaos among the people inside “Tiantangkou,” and Zhang Shan chased the strange figure into the teaching building. Unfortunately, the figure moved too fast and quickly vanished from sight.

“This is troublesome…” Zhang Shan muttered to himself.

Many people began to step out of their rooms, looking at Zhang Shan with confusion: “What’s going on?”

“Damn…” Zhang Shan replied nervously, “A corpse flew in… I don’t know what ability this is. Everyone, be careful.”

“A-a corpse?”

Zhang Shan thought for a moment, then lowered his torch to examine the bloodstains on the ground.

No matter how fast the woman flew, she was still injured.

“I’ll go find her. Just protect yourselves,” he said.

Inside the room, Qi Xia sat quietly deep in thought. He had just heard some commotion outside the door, followed by the loud cry of “Enemy attack!”

His thoughts were instantly interrupted. He recalled the previous massacre at “Tiantangkou” by the “Cat,” so he turned to glance at the main entrance. Although the lighting was dim, he could roughly see that it was completely empty, without a single soul in sight.

Before Qi Xia could figure things out, he heard crashing noises from outside.

He walked to the door, opened it, and peeked into the corridor, witnessing an extremely eerie scene.

A woman seemed to be pulled by something, colliding with the walls and ceiling as she moved down the corridor, leaving a trail of blood splattered on the floor.

Frowning, Qi Xia took a step back behind the door.

A few seconds later, the woman appeared at the doorway. She seemed to want to enter, but her body was out of control.

It looked like she had broken limbs along the way, and her abdomen had a large wound, possibly even a broken spine.

She attempted to enter the room several times, her left shoulder hitting the door frame, followed by her right shoulder slamming against the door, and finally, she entered the room in a very violent manner.

Once inside, she didn’t make any extra movements, only continuously moving her broken limbs.

Qi Xia watched this scene expressionlessly, his mind filled with confusion.

The ability to remotely control a corpse to stand here indicated that the opponent was a very powerful “Resonator.” Yet why was this “Resonator’s” control method so brutal?

It looked as if a skilled worker was completing his job in an extremely careless manner.

“Are you in a hurry…?” Qi Xia softly asked, “Or did you encounter danger?”

Although the corpse’s eyes were open, her pupils were rolling upward, exposing a lot of white, staring at him.

The corpse spent a while moving her limbs and finally discovered that her left hand could still be raised normally. Her feet left the ground, and she slowly floated toward Qi Xia.

Half a meter separated Qi Xia from the corpse, and all he could feel was the stench of blood.

The corpse slowly raised her left hand, touched Qi Xia’s clothes, and left a bloody fingerprint.

At this moment, Qi Xia understood the corpse’s intention. He took a step back, brought over a desk, and held the corpse’s hand, allowing her to touch the tabletop.

Upon touching the desk, the corpse’s entire body trembled. Her bones made a creaking sound again.

Slowly, she moved her fingers and began writing on the desk.

“Heaven (Tian).”

Qi Xia exhaled deeply, waiting quietly for her to continue writing. After all, someone was remotely controlling the corpse, using an injured left hand, so the writing was both abstract and slow.

“Cheater!” Qiao Jiajin suddenly burst into the room holding a can of beer. He seemed to have already had several drinks, his face slightly flushed. “Did you hear about the enemy attack?”

As soon as he spoke, he noticed Qi Xia silently watching a corpse writing.

The corpse was badly injured, with a blood hole visible on her back.

Qiao Jiajin blinked, scratched his head, and then silently closed the door and left.

Qi Xia looked at the door in confusion. A few seconds later, he heard Qiao Jiajin’s voice again.

“Cheater! Did you hear about the enemy attack?!”

Qiao Jiajin suddenly opened the door again and rushed in. He looked closely and realized there indeed seemed to be a corpse writing in front of him, unrelated to the act of opening the door.

He remained silent for a long time, raised the beer can in his hand, and muttered softly, “What kind of alcohol is this… so strong?”

“J. Punch, what’s wrong?” Qi Xia asked.

“Huh?” Qiao Jiajin was taken aback. “Nothing. I must have seen things. I saw a corpse writing in front of you.”

“There really is a corpse writing in front of me,” Qi Xia replied.

“Uh…” After hearing this, Qiao Jiajin blinked again, finding it more acceptable to believe it was an illusion.

“Yesterday I saw ‘Ant’ giving you a palm reading, and today there’s a corpse teaching you lessons…” Qiao Jiajin forced a bitter smile. “Cheater, do you have a side job every night?”

“I don’t understand it either,” Qi Xia said, staring at the corpse in front of him. “Although she’s writing, she’s only managed to write ‘Heaven (天)’ so far.”

Qiao Jiajin stepped forward to take a closer look and discovered that, indeed, after completing the character “Tian (天),” the corpse had begun making random scratches, leaving behind only chaotic, bloody handprints.
