Chapter 64: Competing for Prestige

In a public place, Mu Lin considered the safety of the three girls. Since he had nothing to hide, he saw no reason for them to conduct a search. However, raising his hands and squatting down would harm his image, so he refused to do it. Upon hearing the demand, he simply turned his back and began to scrutinize the two female officers.

He calmly addressed them, saying, “I don’t know why you want to inspect us. I need a reasonable explanation!”

At that moment, Finny and the others finally reacted, frightened, they raised their hands and prepared to squat down. Seeing this, Mu Lin felt anger rising inside him but couldn’t show it. He sternly said, “Finny! We haven’t done anything wrong, and we’re not suspects. We won’t squat!”

“What are you doing? Don’t threaten them! Right now, we suspect you of illegally abducting three white girls, and the bank has already called the police. Put your hands on your head and squat down! You must accept our inspection and come with us to the police station!” One female officer shouted while pointing her gun at Mu Lin.

Damn it, this rotten manager, pretending one thing in public and doing another behind our backs. If I don’t make a big deal out of this and teach these bastards a lesson, everyone will think I’m a pushover! Mu Lin had endured the humiliation he and the girls suffered all day while walking the streets, but now it finally erupted.

“Oh, so because I’m Asian and with three white girls, you think something’s wrong! You police officers didn’t even verify the situation before trying to inspect me!” Mu Lin waved his hand to stop the girls from speaking, then coldly said, “Fine! Today I’ve seen the quality of New York’s police. But I’d like to ask, are you really prepared for the consequences of insisting on this unreasonable inspection?”

Liking to watch a spectacle is a universal human trait. A crowd had already gathered around, pointing fingers at Mu Lin and his companions. “Since someone reported the incident, we need to verify it. Is there anything wrong with that?” One female officer slightly softened her tone when she noticed the onlookers.

At this moment, Mu Lin carefully examined the two female officers. They appeared to be in their early twenties. Their youthful faces seemed even more immature than his. In Mu Lin’s eyes, their pretty faces were quite attractive, and wearing police uniforms made them look even more professional. Normally, Mu Lin might have hesitated to talk much or cause trouble with them. Seeing such beautiful and attractive officers might have even tempted him to whistle or flirt a bit.

But now, Mu Lin was furious over the discrimination he had suffered that day. First, he was mistaken for the girls’ butler or servant while walking with them. That didn’t matter much since they were his women, but was there such a thing as a billionaire’s butler like him? Then, when transferring money, which idiotic bank manager suspected him of abducting the three white girls through some underhanded means and reported him to the police. Finally, these idiotic police officers believed his words without verification, treating him like a dangerous criminal. If he didn’t show them a little color, they’d always think he was soft, that Chinese people were soft, and could be pushed around however they liked.

“Oh! Have you ever seen someone walking openly on the street with nothing in their hands, yet still abducting hostages?” Mu Lin sarcastically mocked the two female officers.

The crowd watching the scene was amused by Mu Lin’s mocking tone, chuckling softly.

“You belong to the Black Tiger Gang, a group composed of Asians. You often use various means to abduct white girls. We now suspect you’re part of the Black Tiger Gang. What’s wrong with inspecting you?” One female officer was clearly angered by Mu Lin’s words. Coupled with the laughter from the crowd, she became furious and spoke without thinking.

The name Black Tiger Gang was obviously infamous here. The crowd immediately began whispering about Mu Lin, occasionally pointing fingers at him and the three girls.

Damn it! Why is it always the Black Tiger Gang again? Mu Lin silently cursed in his heart. Had he recently clashed with this gang? They had provoked him in Boston, and he hadn’t had time to deal with them yet, but now he was being framed for their crimes. After today, he would slowly settle the score with them.

“Oh! Which part of me looks like I’m part of the Black Tiger Gang? Are all Asian men automatically members of the Black Tiger Gang? Also, do members of the Black Tiger Gang not run when they see the police, openly abducting hostages in front of them? Have you ever seen such a stupid person?” Mu Lin continued to tease the two young female officers with a relaxed tone.

Seeing Finny and the others opening their mouths to speak, Mu Lin used his spiritual energy to seal the three girls’ acupoints. He wanted to tease the two young female officers a bit more to vent his anger from them pointing guns at him. However, this only caused the three girls to glare at Mu Lin with their eyes.

Seeing this situation, the two young female officers became even more convinced of their judgment—that the three girls were being illegally abducted by the Asian man in front of them. Ignoring Mu Lin’s mocking tone, which stirred some emotions among the crowd, they immediately pointed their guns at Mu Lin and shouted, “Hands on your head and squat down! Otherwise, we will shoot!”

Seeing their posture of raising the guns, before they even finished speaking, Mu Lin had already taken a quick step forward. With a light touch on their wrists, the two guns fell into Mu Lin’s hands. As his fingers rapidly rotated, the two handguns were disassembled into a pile of parts. He had performed this move once before in Boston.

Mu Lin respectfully placed the parts in front of the two young women, still teasing, “Is this how you rudely point guns at us, using the money paid by us taxpayers? I almost forgot to tell you, although I’m only sixteen, I’m already a standard taxpayer. You should know that I’m a law-abiding citizen. Also, I don’t like having guns pointed at my head, even if it’s by a beautiful woman. Please study the law properly and hope you follow the normal legal procedures!”

The crowd watching the scene was stunned by the rapid events before them. When Mu Lin respectfully placed the gun parts in front of the two female officers and they heard his words, they became agitated.

The two young female officers were clearly inexperienced in such situations. Due to the internal conflict within the Hudson family that had erupted into war, the city’s situation was chaotic, and the police force was severely understaffed. They had only been sent out because the officer in charge thought there was some suspicion, dispatching these two inexperienced officers to conduct an inquiry.

They didn’t expect the two of them to take the situation too seriously, leading to this farcical performance. After being handled by Mu Lin like this, they became anxious, their cheeks flushed red, and tears streamed from their eyes as they silently squatted to one side, reassembling their guns.

After all, sympathizing with the weak is human nature. At this moment, the crowd began loudly accusing Mu Lin, saying he was bullying the police and violently resisting law enforcement. Someone had already taken out their phone to call the police.

Mu Lin was enraged by the crowd’s behavior. Pointing at them, he shouted, “Go to hell! What violent resistance to law enforcement? Where were you all when they pointed guns at a sixteen-year-old minor? I was only going to the bank with my employees to open an account and transfer money when someone suspected and reported me. When the police responded, they didn’t ask questions and pointed guns at us, demanding an inspection. Where were you all then? Now, I’m just trying to make them follow the proper legal procedures, and you all suddenly show up! Come on! You cowards who bully the weak and fear the strong!”

The crowd’s arrogant attitude was immediately suppressed by Mu Lin’s outburst. No one dared to step forward for a moment, and the atmosphere became tense.
