Chapter 68: The Lion Gang

The next morning, Mu Lin encountered the two young female officers at the dining table, though they were no longer on active duty. However, upon seeing Mu Lin and the girls, the two officers appeared somewhat embarrassed, their faces slightly flushed, and they couldn’t even lift their heads to look at them directly.

Mu Lin immediately realized what had happened. These two young girls had definitely used their surveillance or eavesdropping equipment to overhear his intimate moments from the previous night. Thinking that someone had listened in on his private affairs for free, even Mu Lin felt his face reddening slightly.

Recalling how the girls had mentioned that the three of them couldn’t handle him alone, they had thought of the two beautiful and kind-hearted young officers, hoping to bring them into Mu Lin’s life so that the girls would gain two more sisters, and Mu Lin would gain two more spiritual cultivation partners.

Thinking of this, Mu Lin also felt too embarrassed to look directly at the two young female officers. The atmosphere among the three of them became awkward.

At this moment, Fenney seemed to notice the odd tension in the air and casually asked, “Daniel, is there something going on between you, Stephanie, and Sara that you’re hiding from us? You all seem so strange today.”

As soon as she spoke, Mu Lin wasn’t particularly affected, but the two young officers nearly lost their composure. Their slight blush turned into a deep red, and their heads dropped so low it seemed they might disappear under the table. Secretly, they cursed Mu Lin for being so indecent and lewd.

Seeing the two young officers’ expressions, Silvia thought for a moment before saying, “Sara, Stephanie, don’t feel embarrassed around Daniel. He’s a good person. If you don’t want to work for him, I can talk to your police chief to clear things up for you.”

The two young officers were too embarrassed to speak to Mu Lin and simply kept their heads down in silence. Silvia concluded, “Alright then, it’s settled! For now, you’ll follow Daniel to work as his personal lifestyle and work secretaries. Fenney, myself, and Kelly will be busy handling matters for the foundation. We’ll hand over the responsibilities to you when we get to work today, and you’ll officially start.”

After arriving at work, once the senior staff had arrived, Mu Lin resumed his therapeutic duties. Soon after, Fenney and the others came to formally hand over responsibilities to Stephanie and Sara and informed them that the lawyers would provide their official employment contracts. Only then did the two begin to believe what Fenney and the others had said.

After all, the two young women were currently suspended and had nothing better to do. They thought to themselves that they didn’t even know if they’d ever really start working, but for now, they could just stay here to kill time and continue monitoring Mu Lin until they were finally sure he had no criminal intentions. That would complete their assignment. And if they could annoy him a bit along the way, it would be a bit of revenge for his indecent behavior. Plus, they were getting a high salary while carrying out their mission—what was there not to like?

While these two young women were lost in their own thoughts, Mu Lin finished his treatments and pressed the secretary call button in his private lounge. Soon after, Sara entered Mu Lin’s lounge. Seeing Mu Lin lying on the large sofa, she immediately blushed and stood to one side, waiting for his instructions.

“Huh!” Mu Lin opened his eyes and saw Sara standing there, surprised. He asked curiously, “Where are Fenney and Silvia?”

“Fenney and Silvia are currently in their foundation office. They’ve already handed over their responsibilities to Stephanie and me. From now on, I will be your personal lifestyle secretary, and Stephanie will be your work secretary.” Sara spoke very seriously. Seeing her so solemn and serious, Mu Lin couldn’t help but recall the pitiful and touching expression she had when she cried the day before.

“Uh-hum! Does the boss have anything else to say?” Seeing Mu Lin staring at her, Sara blushed even more and couldn’t help coughing slightly to remind him.

“Oh!” Mu Lin snapped out of his thoughts and proceeded to give instructions, “Yes, you need to inform Fenney that the people coming from Boston will arrive today. She knows them, so she should arrange accommodations for them.” As Sara was about to leave, he quickly added, “Also, have Stephanie contact the top security company in New York. From now on, their company will be responsible for Fenney’s, and your, daily security. Remember, cost is not an issue. Another thing—discuss with Fenney about placing a job advertisement in the newspaper to recruit financial, administrative, and high-level domestic personnel to handle the clinic’s daily operations in New York. These new hires will be under Fenney’s specific management. In the future, when you and I go out together, these people will handle the small, trivial tasks.”

After assigning tasks to Sara, Mu Lin sat in his bedroom to study. Although he had already graduated, he was still a doctoral student under his professor and needed to complete the assignments given by his professor. He continued to absorb the new scientific knowledge developed over the past two hundred years in this society.

In the afternoon, Fenney naturally welcomed the twelve individuals sent by the three major gangs from Boston. As per Mu Lin’s request, these individuals were clean-cut students who had recently graduated.

They were arranged to live in his villa, fully taking over the daily management of the villa. After discussion with Mu Lin, some of the original staff members were retained, while the rest were sent back to their respective masters.

After dinner, Mu Lin and the girls returned to their room as usual. That night, the two young female officers returned to their dormitory to pack their things. The next day, they would officially move into the villa.

That evening, Mu Lin got out of the car a short distance away from Chinatown. Tonight, he planned to investigate the gang system in Chinatown. Although he had no intention of expanding or leveraging Chinese gang forces in a foreign land, he also could not allow these gangs to become the source of harm to his fellow countrymen.

There were four major gangs in Chinatown. The largest was the historically significant Chinese Lion Gang, with over 3,000 members, mainly composed of the White Crane Sect, Tiger and Crane Sect, and the Five Elements Sect. Then there was the Black Tiger Gang, primarily made up of members from the Black Tiger Sect, with around 1,000 members. Another was the small Japanese Black Dragon Gang, with approximately 800 members. Lastly, the Red Star Gang, mainly composed of Southeast Asians such as Vietnamese, with around 700 members.

In the past, under the dominance of the Lion Gang, these gangs generally acted within boundaries and followed certain rules. However, since the Black Tiger Gang had started collaborating with the Hudson family in New York, they began leveraging the Hudson family’s power to suppress the Lion Gang at every turn. Their membership quickly expanded to 2,000, making them the largest gang in Chinatown. Taking advantage of the situation, the Black Dragon Gang and the Red Star Gang also rose up in rebellion, leaving the Lion Gang in a desperate, surrounded position.

It was fortunate that the Lion Gang had always maintained a sense of righteousness. Although many lower-level disciples had left, leaving the gang with only about 1,500 members, those who remained were the backbone of the organization. Many local merchants in Chinatown also generously supported them financially; otherwise, the Lion Gang would have already been swallowed up by the Black Tiger Gang, the Black Dragon Gang, and the Red Star Gang.

Mu Lin silently infiltrated to a location about 500 meters from the Lion Gang’s base, stopped, and concealed himself in the shadows. He then began using his sensory abilities to probe into the Lion Gang’s specific situation.
