Chapter 83: Blowpipe

Time flies, and the Spring Festival was just around the corner. Following Clare’s instructions, Mu Lin needed to return to his home in Boston for the holiday. Meifang and Meizi had already been on vacation for some time, and if it weren’t for Mu Lin constantly flying back and forth, they would have arrived in New York long ago.

With the clinic’s affairs handed over to the teachers, Mu Lin wanted to return to his Boston home to rest for a while. Before leaving, he planned to go downtown and buy some gifts for Meifang and Meizi. But after thinking about it, he realized he really had no idea what to buy for his two younger sisters as a man constantly on the move. Eventually, he decided to bring his two young secretaries shopping with him. The two secretaries were thrilled and happily followed Mu Lin onto the street.

Dressed in stylishly tailored knee-length suits, the two young women clearly weren’t wearing off-the-rack outfits from just any store. Their skin was fair, their facial contours reminiscent of Greek goddesses, sculpted and refined, with slender waists, long legs, and straight spines. Their 1.75-meter-tall figures, with alluring curves and a slightly youthful aura, drew the attention of passersby who couldn’t help but stare.

Mu Lin had decided to walk around the shops, and now, walking between the two women, he realized his mistake. The stares from the crowd made him feel extremely uncomfortable. He wanted to quicken his pace to escape the middle position, but the two girls clung tightly to his arms, matching his steps exactly. Now he was trapped, a self-made predicament.

During the subway ride, the crowd pushed the two girls directly into Mu Lin’s arms. Their upper bodies pressed tightly against him, their soft, ample breasts brushing against him, their breaths like orchids whispering by his ear, tickling him with an intoxicating sensation. His body reacted involuntarily, pressing against the two girls’ thighs. The two girls quickly understood what had happened, their blushing faces turning even redder. Looking at their shy expressions, Mu Lin’s discomfort gradually melted away. He teased the two girls in his arms, “Hehe! You two aren’t afraid of being taken advantage of by me now, huh?”

The two girls glared at Mu Lin together, “Letting you take advantage is still better than being harassed by other perverts! We’re doing you a favor!” Sara whispered softly.

Hearing this, Mu Lin instinctively extended both arms to hug the two girls closer, tightening his grip and making full contact with their bodies.

The two girls’ eyes sparkled with a strange light, their heads lowered as they leaned against Mu Lin’s shoulders. A warm, tender atmosphere spread between the three.

In this society where money reigns supreme, isn’t every powerful and wealthy man surrounded by a group of beautiful women? And those who gather great wealth all possess their own unique charm—whether it’s the charm of money itself or something more. It’s like blooming flowers attracting swarms of bees to sip their nectar.

Having personally witnessed how harmoniously Mu Lin interacted with the many women in his life, the two girls were also puzzled by the unity among them. This curiosity drove them to explore more of Mu Lin’s secrets. But in the process, they didn’t even realize that they themselves had already been captivated by Mu Lin’s unique personal charm, falling deeply in love. Their behavior on the subway was essentially them opening their hearts to him.

After exiting the subway, the two girls quickly moved away from Mu Lin, leaving him momentarily disappointed as he wanted to continue his flirtation. Seeing Mu Lin’s expression, the two girls returned to his side, linking his arms again and teasing him with laughter, “You little pervert, haven’t had enough yet? Come on, let’s go! If we’re any later, we won’t have time to hit several stores!” They dragged Mu Lin straight toward the shopping mall.

The last time he went shopping with Fenney and the others had left a traumatic memory for Mu Lin. This was the first time he was accompanying his two young female police officer companions, but the previous experience had left him uninterested in shopping. So he told them Meifang and Meizi’s height and age, handed them a credit card, and planned to let them shop on their own.

The two girls had just opened their hearts to Mu Lin and didn’t want to be separated from him for even a moment. They clung to him, insisting he go shopping with them.

Mu Lin thought for a moment before speaking to them, “Sweethearts! Do you know how attractive you both are? Do you remember the first time we met?”

Thinking back to their first encounter, which had ended in conflict, the corners of their mouths lifted into smiles. Although they found Mu Lin’s question odd, they still asked, “What does that have to do with us?”

“Hehe! That first conflict happened because of shopping. Since then, I’ve had a fear of going to the mall. If you don’t want to hurt my delicate heart, go shopping yourselves! I’ll find a coffee shop and wait for you.”

The two girls were left speechless, neither laughing nor crying at his reasoning.

“You already have so many wives, and you still talk about having a delicate heart?” After thinking, they decided Mu Lin really wasn’t interested in shopping, otherwise he wouldn’t have come up with such a weak excuse. They didn’t insist further, said their goodbyes, and left together.

Mu Lin decided to find a café and rest while waiting for the two girls.

Walking down the street, Mu Lin sensed someone had been following him from behind. Earlier, he had focused his attention on the two girls and assumed it was just someone admiring them, so he hadn’t paid much attention.

Now that he was alone, he immediately noticed that these people were still tailing him. This piqued his curiosity. The pursuers included Caucasians, African Americans, and Asians, all keeping a distance. An ordinary person, even an expert in counter-surveillance, would find it hard to detect such a group. Who could these people be?

Since he couldn’t determine who they were, Mu Lin didn’t pay them much attention. Against absolute strength, all plots and schemes were merely superficial. On Fifth Avenue, where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold, only the finest shops could establish themselves.

Pushing open the glass door, Mu Lin entered a Blue Mountain Coffee shop. Inside were many well-dressed customers, and soft folk music played in the background, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. He sat down at an empty seat and casually ordered a cup of Blue Mountain Coffee.

Blue Mountain Coffee is a top-tier coffee. It possesses all the qualities of excellent coffee—not only rich and fragrant but also perfectly balanced in sweetness, acidity, and bitterness, completely free of any harsh bitterness. It has only a moderate and perfect acidity. Usually consumed as a single-origin brew, it is extremely rare and expensive, so most commercially available blends imitate its flavor with similar beans.

This coffee shop ground the beans in front of customers, then handed them over for the customers to brew themselves, allowing each person to add milk or sugar according to their own taste.

Smelling the unique aroma of the coffee, Mu Lin waited quietly. In fact, sometimes waiting itself is an art—being able to wait calmly and with complete focus is itself a form of self-cultivation.

Soon, the seats around Mu Lin’s table were gradually occupied by well-dressed customers, but their demeanor clashed with the warm and romantic atmosphere of the coffee shop.

Mu Lin knew the dish had finally arrived.

Sure enough, under the cover of the crowd, a blow dart shot from beneath the table toward Mu Lin’s calf.
