Chapter 196: Operation (9)

At this moment, Mu Lin had no systematic exposure to Western magic. His only encounter with it was during a naval battle at sea. Western magic differs greatly from the cultivation techniques of the East. Its traditions are even more distant and mysterious to ordinary people than myths. Therefore, after extracting memories related to magic from the two men’s minds, Mu Lin became curious about the mysterious Western magic. The private club-like venue before him was actually a contact point for the First Action Team.

Compared to the Second Action Team, the First Action Team consisted of experienced members. Many of the knights or swordsmen were older and feared retaliation from old enemies against themselves and their families. As a result, even the members of the Second Action Team did not know their exact addresses. As for the mages, they preferred quiet places and disliked disturbances from the mundane world. Thus, the location of the First Action Team became top secret.

The leader of the Second Action Team only knew this single contact point. The First Action Team mainly consisted of mages, about thirty people in total. Unlike swordsmen or knights, their magical abilities increased with age. When the Second Action Team encountered problems they couldn’t solve, they had no choice but to report through this contact point. Therefore, Mu Lin wanted to find the addresses of the First Action Team members from here.

Mu Lin walked slowly, his telepathic senses enveloping the three-story building. Perhaps it was early, and the building didn’t seem to have many people inside—only some clerical staff, it seemed. Compared to modern communication methods, Mu Lin dared not act rashly, fearing that he might alert them.

In Country Y, the various systems of cultivators operated independently—researchers, preachers, and action teams had no contact with each other. Only the country’s archbishop knew the specific details of all these individuals. This ensured that even if one organization was compromised, it could quickly recover.

This archbishop wasn’t the public-facing one, but rather a more powerful figure hidden in the shadows. Mu Lin had not yet obtained specific information about this secret archbishop from the action teams. At this point, he already looked down upon the Second Action Team with disdain.

Now, he was focused only on obtaining further information through the First Action Team. However, if he failed to locate them and they discovered his search, they would certainly retreat even deeper into secrecy, creating endless future troubles for Mu Lin.

After thoroughly understanding the layout of the small building, Mu Lin continued to the next street corner and found a café, where he began monitoring from a distance. Because of the risk of leaking information through phones or other communication tools, the Second Action Team always sent personnel in person with written documents to the contact point. Mu Lin believed that this time, the Second Action Team would certainly request aid from the First Action Team. Moreover, news of the complete annihilation of the Brighton Second Action Team should have already reached London. Thus, Mu Lin began waiting here.

Mu Lin’s wait wasn’t long before a person with considerable abilities entered the building. Behind this individual, no fewer than twenty people were watching from a distance to ensure his safety. Additionally, over a dozen others entered nearby buildings alongside him. If Mu Lin hadn’t previously known this was a contact point and had set up surveillance from a hidden location, no ordinary organization could have monitored them under the eyes of such professional personnel.

Soon, the visitor left a written document behind and quickly departed. From the memories of the two men, Mu Lin already knew the specific contact method. Now, he wanted to discover how these people would send the message forward. Only by following this clue could Mu Lin find the residence of the First Action Team.

The staff inside the building received the document, placed it into an envelope, and then wrote down an address. They then handed the envelope to another staff member, who subsequently walked out of the building. Through his telepathic senses, Mu Lin clearly realized that the address written was that of an elementary school.

Soon, this staff member actually delivered the letter to a nearby post office, which surprised Mu Lin, who had been following from afar. Could it be that these people were really using such a method to transmit messages?

Then the man began to return, leaving Mu Lin with no choice but to focus on the letter. Soon, a mailman began delivering the letter. As Mu Lin observed this mailman, he realized this was an ordinary person—an actual postal worker. Knowing the general address already, Mu Lin subtly attached a tiny strand of his true spiritual energy to the letter as the mailman passed by. This tiny spiritual thread was like a fine hair-like marker. Since he didn’t know the secrets of Western magic, Mu Lin dared not be careless. Then, he took a taxi to a secluded spot outside the campus to wait.

Once the letter stopped moving, Mu Lin began scanning with his telepathic senses. He believed this time he should finally locate the real place. However, unexpectedly, the letter was now quietly lying inside a student’s backpack.

This was a real student, a child whose young face and slender frame clearly marked him as just a kid. By observing the children’s ages and the lessons being taught in the classroom, Mu Lin determined that this was a first-year high school class currently in session.

It seemed the letter wouldn’t be moved again until after school ended. Thinking for a moment, Mu Lin walked to a nearby parking lot, stole a car, and quietly waited outside the campus.

Soon, the students were dismissed. Amid the bustling crowd, Mu Lin’s telepathic senses continuously followed the letter. At this point, the student who received the letter was riding his bicycle home. From a distance, Mu Lin slowly tailed the student. After passing through several blocks, Mu Lin saw the student enter a villa. Not long after, the student came out and rode away on his bicycle, only now his backpack no longer contained the letter.

Now, the letter should have reached its true destination, and this place should be the real hideout of the First Action Team. Suppressing his inner excitement, Mu Lin drove his car to a parking lot far from the building. Sitting inside the car, he extended his telepathic senses toward the entrance of the building. The words “Jason Retirement Home” on the sign above the gate clearly imprinted themselves into Mu Lin’s mind.
