Chapter 9: The Ten Great Arts

“Watch out!!” Hunyuanzi’s voice suddenly warned Yang Hao. Right after that, Yang Hao’s Sensing skill made him realize that a sharp killing intent was rushing towards him from behind.

“What should I do?” Yang Hao actually stood there dumbfounded, unsure of what to do next. Obviously, he had been too sluggish for too long and, despite his abilities, didn’t know how to use them.

“Dodge, you idiot!” Hunyuanzi was practically heartbroken with frustration, wishing he could take over instead.

Luckily, Yang Hao reacted quickly enough. Suddenly remembering that he had already learned the Flying skill, he quickly leapt sideways. Sure enough, he lifted Aisping effortlessly into the air, and the movement was surprisingly graceful.

Wang Zhijun missed his strike and instead witnessed Yang Hao heroically rescuing the damsel in distress. This infuriated him even more. The sword light in his hand suddenly changed, emitting a cold, sharp glow. Wang Zhijun had activated the Wang Clan’s Seven Sword Techniques, a family specialty.

Even in this interstellar age, within the Empire, there were still many families renowned for their unique martial arts and sword techniques, independent of the Empire’s standardized skills. The Wang Clan was among the most prominent of these families.

The Wang Clan had become a family of imperial generals, with every member occupying high positions, precisely because of their Seven Sword Techniques. During the Empire’s campaigns of conquest, they had encountered many primitive planets rich in resources but swarming with monsters. It was the Wang Clan’s generals and their sword techniques, capable of sweeping away entire armies, that enabled the Empire to subdue those planets one by one.

Later, the Empire officially recognized the Wang Clan’s Seven Sword Techniques as one of the Ten Marvelous Techniques in the galaxy, bringing the family immense prestige. Although Wang Zhijun’s swordsmanship was far from matching the top experts within his family, it was still an extremely rare and formidable move. Therefore, when he unleashed the move called “Twin Blossoms in Tandem,” its momentum was indeed shocking.

The swordlight transformed into two silver clouds in the air, intertwining as they surged toward Yang Hao.

This time, Yang Hao could no longer dodge using his Flying skill as he had before. He helplessly watched the two silver lights approaching him, unable to comprehend how a sword could possess so many variations. By the time Wang Zhijun nearly reached him, Yang Hao panicked and shouted desperately, “Uncle Hunyuanzi, what should I do now?”

“Figure it out yourself,” Hunyuanzi replied plainly, clearly sleep-deprived and drowsy.

“I don’t know how!” Yang Hao’s head was drenched in sweat as he frantically looked around for a hole in the ground to hide in.

“Aren’t you the dumb one? If you can’t go left or right, why not retreat?” Hunyuanzi grumbled while pointing out, “Surely you can manage to go backward.”

“Backward is my specialty!” Yang Hao, indeed most skilled at running away, took several vigorous steps backward. His posture, however, resembled a frog’s awkward hopping.

Wang Zhijun’s two silver clouds had originally intended to flank Yang Hao. However, due to Yang Hao’s retreat, he managed to escape the encirclement. But Wang Zhijun was not discouraged at all. With a quick flick of his sword, another silver cloud suddenly appeared behind Yang Hao. Now, the three-pronged attack formed a complete, all-encompassing encirclement.

This time, Yang Hao was truly doomed. Wang Zhijun’s previous move had merely been a feint, designed to force Yang Hao into retreating. As Yang Hao stepped back, he had unknowingly fallen into a trap. Now, escaping would be extremely difficult.

“This is getting interesting,” Hunyuanzi, surprisingly invigorated by the perilous situation, was wide awake now. “This move is pretty good. It’s actually fun.”

“I’m going to die for sure,” Yang Hao stomped his foot anxiously. “How can I possibly analyze if it’s good or not now?”

“Hmm…” Hunyuanzi thought for a moment and proposed a plan, “Well, maybe you can block it somehow.” His tone was uncertain, as if he were just brainstorming.

“Block it?” Yang Hao’s head spun. “With what? I don’t have any weapon. Surely I can’t use my arms?”

“You do have the skill of moving objects without touching them. Look around and see if there’s anything nearby you can borrow,” Hunyuanzi suggested recklessly.

Yang Hao actually listened to him. Immediately, he assumed the hand gesture for his Object Manipulation skill, channeling his power outward. Truthfully, Yang Hao wasn’t sure what he could control. Relying on the rapid advancement of his skill, he spread his power in all directions, hoping to grab something at random to block the attack.

Fortunately, his luck was good. By sheer chance, he found something heavy nearby and quickly moved it forward to intercept the swordlight encircling above.

As the object floated up to above his head, Yang Hao and everyone else present were greatly startled. In midair was a large body, flailing its arms and legs wildly while shouting in panic.

What Yang Hao had moved with his Object Manipulation skill was not a rock or anything inanimate, but a person—a living, breathing person.

And not just any person, but Wang Zhijun’s best buddy, the big bear-like Kevin.

Kevin usually acted like a hero, but at this critical moment, he was absolutely terrified, screaming for help with all his might. Wang Zhijun was also deeply horrified. He desperately tried to reel back his swordlight, but the technique’s power was too great. Even after reducing its force, the sword energy still fiercely slashed through, resulting in a loud crash. Kevin was thrown aside, his outer clothes torn to shreds, his skin slashed with countless cuts, and he had already fainted from fear.

A considerable crowd had gathered by now. Although most of them were also aristocrats, many had often been bullied by Wang Zhijun and Kevin in the past. Seeing these two arrogant bullies finally meet their match, the crowd burst into laughter.

Wang Zhijun was both ashamed and furious. He had already lost face in front of Aisping at the beginning, and now he was being laughed at by so many classmates—an experience he had never encountered before.

“You forced me to do this…” Wang Zhijun’s voice had changed tone entirely. He pressed a button on his belt, and instantly, a rainbow-like glow shimmered across his silver-gray coat.

“A Power Amplifier!!!” Amanda, who had somehow already arrived in the crowd, shouted in horror upon seeing Wang Zhijun’s action. “That’s military equipment meant for fighting enemies! How can you use it!!!”

The Power Amplifier was considered one of the most significant inventions in the Galactic Empire’s military history. During the Empire’s expansionary wars, they encountered numerous alien monsters. Due to their unique physiology, traditional firearms and laser weapons were often ineffective. It was the successful development of the Power Amplifier that brought melee weapons back to the battlefield. Soldiers equipped with Power Amplifiers could, depending on their physical condition, instantly gain strength anywhere from double to a hundred times their original capacity, allowing ordinary humans to possess superhuman power.

However, during peacetime, such equipment was strictly prohibited for civilian use, only available within the Imperial Army. Therefore, the fact that Wang Zhijun possessed such a rare device shocked Amanda greatly.
