Yang Hao hit the ground hard, his vision spinning as he struggled to rise. But before him unfolded a shocking scene.
The small hill—the entire black hill covered in Yuanjingshi crystals—was actually standing up. Slowly but surely, and filled with menace, it rose before Yang Hao. And on this hill, limbs and a grotesque head began to form. Within a matter of terrifying seconds, the entire hill had transformed into a monstrous beast several people tall.
“Damn it!” Yang Hao turned on his heels, ready to flee.
But the Black Magic Beast proved more agile than expected. It simply exhaled a breath toward the cave entrance, and golden light, like flames, engulfed Yang Hao’s escape route, instantly turning the cave’s rocky walls into Yuanjingshi.
Yang Hao froze immediately. Though in grave danger, his mind raced with clarity—he quickly realized the black hill he had seen earlier was actually the sleeping body of the Black Magic Beast. And those Yuanjingshi crystals? They were forged from the breath exhaled by the beast itself.
In other words, if Yang Hao were hit by that breath, he would undoubtedly turn into a human-shaped Yuanjingshi crystal.
“You didn’t say—” Yang Hao stared at the several-meter-tall Black Magic Beast, its appearance almost grotesquely humanoid, his teeth chattering in fear, “that it was a fully grown Black Magic Beast!”
“It is… it’s just a baby,” Hun Yuanzi replied, though clearly afraid, still tried to argue stubbornly.
“This is a baby?!” Yang Hao hissed through clenched teeth, terrified of provoking the beast.
“Black Magic Beast babies are this big. Didn’t I tell you?” Hun Yuanzi’s voice only deepened Yang Hao’s despair.
“You did NOT!!!” Yang Hao roared in desperation. He no longer had time for arguments. In one motion, he drew all five of his swords and charged at the Black Magic Beast with a furious yell.
His thinking was simple—if escape was impossible, he might as well fight. After all, he had five swords. If any one of them landed a solid strike, maybe he could actually win.
But compared to reality, Yang Hao’s thoughts were still too naive. The Black Magic Beast was an incredibly powerful creature. Originally just animal eggs from a certain planet, they had drifted into space and been mutated by cosmic rays, giving rise to the bizarre and terrifying species known as Black Magic Beasts. Even as a baby, it was more than capable of killing trained sword masters—let alone a novice like Yang Hao.
With a single disdainful swipe of its claw, the Black Magic Beast sent Yang Hao and his five swords flying in different directions. Yang Hao crashed heavily to the ground, while the swords embedded themselves in the Yuanjingshi crystals scattered around.
“Damn it!!!” Yang Hao groaned, “Now I’ve lost my swords. What do I do now?”
“Take pills!” Hun Yuanzi finally offered a useful suggestion, just when it mattered most.
Yang Hao immediately remembered—he still had over a dozen strength-enhancing pills he had prepared earlier. He quickly pulled out the small pouch containing the pills. As the Black Magic Beast slowly and menacingly approached, Yang Hao gritted his teeth and swallowed all the pills in one go.
An extremely strange taste instantly filled Yang Hao’s mouth. Bubbles kept forming inside, but aside from that, no noticeable power seemed to emerge.
“What’s going on? The pills aren’t working!” Yang Hao panicked. If even the pills failed at a critical moment, he was truly doomed.
“They’re working,” Hun Yuanzi’s voice sounded strained, “I helped suppress the effects.”
“Why?!” Yang Hao couldn’t understand—wasn’t stronger effect better?
Hun Yuanzi snapped in frustration, “You idiot! Each strength-enhancing pill multiplies your power many times. Now that you’ve taken so many, you’ve gained at least a hundred times your normal strength.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?”
“Good? You fool! Your body can’t handle that kind of strength! If you don’t release it immediately, your whole body will inflate like a balloon and explode with a ‘boom’!”
Yang Hao was nearly driven mad, “How could it come to this? Can’t I just use my hands to release the power?”
As the two argued, the Black Magic Beast had already closed in, ready to deliver the final blow.
“Of course not!” Hun Yuanzi cried desperately, “You need several more weapons to release all that power at once!”
Yang Hao saw the Black Magic Beast raise its two front claws, clearly preparing a devastating double-impact strike—like swatting a mosquito.
“Just release all the power now!” Yang Hao made his decision, ready for one last gamble.
“You want to die?!” Hun Yuanzi wailed, “The lineage of the Spring Pill Sect will end with you!”
“Damn it, it should’ve ended long ago!” Yang Hao shouted recklessly, “Just release it! I have a plan!”
Hun Yuanzi saw the Black Magic Beast gathering its full strength, its claws poised like hammers ready to strike from the sky. With death inevitable anyway, he gritted his teeth and released all the suppressed power from the pills at once.
A force over a hundred times greater than Yang Hao’s normal strength surged from his dantian into his entire body. The scorching energy made Yang Hao’s body swell like a balloon being inflated. At this rate, he wouldn’t last more than a few seconds before his body exploded.
Yet Yang Hao himself was experiencing a strange sensation. He felt like he was floating on clouds, his body filled with a buoyant force, as if he might take off into the air at any moment. His senses were incredibly sharp—even in the enclosed cave, he could feel the flow of air. And more clearly than ever, he sensed countless energy sources glowing nearby. Among them, the most prominent were the five swords that had been knocked away earlier.
By chance, all five swords had landed in Yuanjingshi crystals of various sizes. Now, the energy from the crystals was flowing into the swords, coating them with a golden sheen—like newly forged divine weapons that had just been sharpened, their full power and attributes awakened.
Closing his eyes, Yang Hao poured all his effort into using his strongest telekinetic technique. Without hesitation, the five swords swiftly flew to his side. This was his plan—if his bare hands couldn’t release the energy quickly enough, then wielding all five swords at once should do the trick.
For any other martial artist, controlling even one sword was the limit. But Yang Hao was different—he held one sword in each hand, while three more hovered above and beside him.
“AAAHHH!!!” Roaring wildly, Yang Hao charged at the Black Magic Beast with all five swords. The three swords circling his body spun rapidly like helicopter blades, radiating dazzling multicolored lights. At least three different elemental attributes spiraled toward the beast’s head.
The Black Magic Beast had no choice but to withdraw its claws to defend against the three flying swords.
But Yang Hao himself, dual-wielding, surged forward. One sword emitted a cold blue glow, while the other burned with fiery heat. With both swords and his own body, he fearlessly slammed into the beast’s armored belly, actually managing to tear open a hole. Without caring about the stench inside, Yang Hao wildly slashed and hacked at anything he could reach.
