Chapter 1622:

The sky and earth fell silent. Countless eyes, shimmering with varying emotions, remained dumbfounded, watching that solitary black figure standing atop a stone statue. A light breeze stirred, causing his black garments to wave gently; his jet-black hair danced into the wind. Nothing special about his back alone, and yet under their gazes, that figure appeared as grand and solemn as an immovable mountain…”Xiao Yan…” Su Qian and the others kept their stunned visions fixed on the figure in the black robe. Moments later, their hearts, which had been consumed by hopelessness, surged with excitement. Perhaps salvation had finally arrived today?

“It’s really him…” Xiao Yu murmured, lips covered gently with her hand. Even though more than a decade had passed without a meeting, she still found that familiar back view unforgettable. Yet, he appeared wiser than those days.

“Senior… Is this the legendary older student, Xiao Yan? He is just so strong! Just now an opponent even a Dou Zun level master such as elder Qian cannot halt, yet with just one blow he was felled…”

From within the sea of people, amidst brief silence, whispers soon swelled up across the crowd. The young faces gleaming brightly, stared at the figure clad in black. For many students at Jaina School, he had always been most fascinating – nobody before ever had managed such a feat to earn their own statue upon school grounds…

“Fall back!!!”

Gazing at this abrupt arrival in midair, Hun You face twisted in disbelief. Without hesitation, he shouted loudly into the sky. He’d never fought Xiao Yan before – but even Hun Mie Sheng had perished by that opponent’s hand. He could never dare entertain any thought of resisting him, nor did he suppose even momentarily his skills might rival Hun Miesheng’s.

Upon hearing Hun You’s order, countless魂殿 elders above the sky made swift decisions: pulling their forms back hurriedly from confrontation positions.

Watching all this unfold overhead left the crowd somewhat stupefied once again while the younger apprentices could hardly suppress the surging excitement rising inside them—they fixed eyes burning with adoration unto his back figure. Here indeed stood a true powerhouse—a true giant!

No need even to raise one’s hand; mere presence alone sufficed to intimidate an assembly. Such awe and majesty sufficed to make many youths quake inside at his grandeur!

“So now you show your face—and you would just run again?! When I have eradicated the hall itself—what reason have left these wretches left to survive??”

Gazing aloft where figures scattered in flight, the black-garbed youth atop the statue smiled slightly before lifting one relaxed foot, gently proceeding his descent.

“BOOM—BOOM—BOOM!!”—With every stepping of Xiao Yan, invisible terrifying waves flashed through midair instantly catching those runaways with violent strikes. Across the skyline came the horrifying spectacle—as every escaping black-garbed human burst into sprays blood fog mid-air. Whether they held Dou Zhang of Dou Zun titles, every soul exploded instantaneously—even their very souls reduced to quivering shreds within a flash.

Frozen expressions stared into the misty red haze spreading overhead, a haunting beautiful sight unfolding before the astonished students. Before their vision had stood revered masters from the魂殿. Yet here—they just burst suddenly like popcorn! Their lives sealed away by the man on the statue—whom had yet made even moved the least.

“This power……”

Gazing into each other’s eyes, Su Qian and elder Qian and Bai exchanged shocked looks, mouths dry.

“One kills Dou Zuns like poultry! What monstrous might!”

Only Hun You made his escape although even as far away as possible, he spat up blood before vanishing. When he saw all his subordinates perish instantly, anger twisted across his countenance.

“Fear not—you’ll all perish when my Hun race arrives!!!” the fugitive yelled out hatred with every word.

“You talk much,”

With creased brows, Xiao Yan raised one hand through open space and instantly fire flared over Hun You. From above descended suddenly massive fiery red palm slamming down straight into his body—an explosion followed as the foe plummeted downward trailing a thread of smoke into black oblivion at some distance—vanished entirely into the horizon!

With Hun You now gone into remote sky…

Suddenly, that very location shimmered and from within emerged several figures flying quickly forward to the conflict site.

“More reinforcements!!!?” Spots lighting, Su Qian tensed further alongside companions’ vigilant gazes. These figures rapidly drew near overhead above Jaina School, their silhouettes revealed with terrifying energy exuding silently with presence.

“Could they be……Dousheng!!!??”

Feeling the terrifying pressure emanating from those newcomers Su Qian’s and the two elders’ scalps tingled with tension. These newly-arrived—were all of them…legendary Dousheng masters!?

Bang!!

Right when they trembled at the thought came impact sounds in sky above, as black-golden shadow hurtled down to smash harshly into an awaiting stage arena. All gazes locked instantly: unmistakably Hun You’s carcass. But his figure no longer breathed—lifeless.

Stunning.

Many exchanged terrified glances with fellow students. If Hun You could command Dousheng warriors before and hold such influence, shouldn’t he rank above them? Yet—so swiftly…his end proved shockingly absolute.

Heheha ha!!!”

Just as Su Qian wiped nervous beads of sweat away suddenly, came laughter booming from above.

Moments later, through clouds, an aging form stepped lightly from thin air descending slowly to center attention—

“Dean!!!”

Viewing the grinning old man approaching calmly now from space air, the entire group froze then exclaimed aloud astonished—surprise etched in their tones.

Heheheh,” the visitor chuckled lightly while stepping forward: it was none other than Jaina’s elusive Dean—Mang Tian Ci!

With a grin, he examined Su Qien and the two elders, his eyes sweeping admiring glances across improved infrastructure and campus scale compared greatly improved to the condition decades prior upon departing the last time.

“Let us descend below,” he waved casually—like no decades-long absence existed. Then lifting gaze to sky with a knowing smile, he spoke out—“Old pal Xiao Yan—here are old friends, no need for hide-and-seek games anymore.”

Hearing the familiar voice from below the figure above gave a knowing shake of head, finally descending gracefully amidst others’ awe-filled glares. Beside Xiao Yan descended Tu Er, as together the Allied Elders and he approached—bowing with cupped hands to greet:

“Well met elder长老.”

“Brat,” Su Qian gave a forced chuckle with disbelief, “So long gone…We thought fate beclouded your path.”

Xiao Yan responded with smiles shared.

With him, beside the figure of Xiao Yan now stepped forward another figure—Tu’er who gave a sweet smile; an air about her refined yet effortlessly graceful, entranced nearby young students at sight—rival none else within the academy realm in beauty or poise.

“Tu_er…”

Meeting her gaze, Su Qian also nodded warmly until suddenly another woman’s silhouette appeared from behind him; in an abrupt motion launched into warm embrace around her waist drawing Tu_er in close contact suddenly.

“You’re so playful still…”

Startled at first, upon seeing friend Tu_er broke into slight laughter.

“Hehhe…Tu_er dear more radiant with ages past…yet looks like you still remain attached to this scoundrel.”

Joking, followed, as Ah Jia grinned knowingly. Glancing sidelong at nearby standing Xiao Yan curiously.

Next to them stood Wu Hao putting away large sword while he chuckled gazing this reunion scene warmly; when Xiao Yan’s eyes locked again upon old comrades’ both shared a mutual knowing laughter. Even over years the memories from childhood remained.

You still relish teacherhood huh?

Smiling amidst nostalgia Xiao Yan’s gaze soon caught another familiar vision—another silhouette belonging to young maiden standing behind Su Qian. Whistle followed reflexively at the lovely figure—an extremely rare action considering his famed self-restraint reputation.

“You found time for this visit.” She returned back cool glare with flushed cheeks—familiar teasing reminiscent of childhood times—same as when mischievous he’d try provoking her by pranks in Wutan City. Formerly she felt outrage toward his play; today rather the opposite, almost anticipating those lighthearted antics. However, internally she knew—he was no longer that naughty brat from before.

“Respectful greetings to Door Lord.” An adult male figure bowed respectfully—spoke in trembling tones.

Xiao Yan looked back and smiled: “Your diligence remains honorable indeed.”

“It… I…failed in guarding security at our school!”—nervous the reply followed, yet within heart soared with disbelief as before him stood legendary icon in living form: the mighty Xiao Yan—whom his entire life served devoted loyalty without daring dreams.

“No responsibility upon your shoulders! Our foes surpasses capabilities.”—waved aside Xiao Yan’s calm dismissal.

Right when speech intended interruption followed—numerous silhouttes approaching from afar. Before the group landed, few flashing jumps carried forms forward: including her, Zilin.

“Entire Hun remnants cleared.” Zilin approached landing gracefully, lips bearing soft smile.

Su Qians and elders’ gazed with unease at the small collective surrounding Xiao Yan.

All—Dousheng level!!

They looked astonished and somewhat dazed. Such power—nay a legend in itself—it was staggering beyond all comprehension. Thus moments elapsed till a wry smile crept from their lips.

“What on heavens happened?”

A complex crisis indeed.”

Nod exchanged between Xiao Yan and Mang Tian Ci—gravity upon expressions deepening as they spoke—”For time being—evacuate students! Black Angle Dominion now on verge immense changes.”

Mang Tian Ci added solemn, mind racing regarding rumors pointing towards a possibility the Ancient Emperor Relic possibly lying hidden underneath magma world layers. That possibility he found even he could scarce accept: during ancient sealing process of Yurst heartburn flame—Mang himself even dared approach magma depths albeit briefly. That he might’ve narrowly missed an ancient emperors’ hidden abode—he still finds unfathomable today.

Understanding seriousness upon their faces Su Qians’ facial tone shifted.

“But where can so great multitude disperse into?—Not so many guardians prepared for all.” Su queried hesitatingly.

The Dean nodded solemnly.

“The students problem isn’t overly urgent, all we need, temporarily house into Tianmu realm space. Let matters await clearer days.”

Mang waved aside the Dean’s concern, suggesting, “The rest discuss indoors, let’s walk.”

“Understood.”

Su complied, issuing instruction to fellow Elders—tasking students’ calm while swiftly leading Xiao Yan group toward meeting hall with urgency. Others fell promptly into line—leaving behind a sea of adoring gazes…
