“Let’s go!” Realizing that Laika was likely to become Arthur’s target, the blond leader Hector, without any hesitation, coldly shouted to his companions. Immediately, the broadsword in Hector’s hand swiftly reverted to its form of psychic steel. Wilbur quickly hoisted the severely injured Wilfred onto his back. The silver-haired man, Orpheus, along with Murphy and Saya, all sheathed their weapons and followed Hector out of the room. In the blink of an eye, the six saint-level experts who had ambushed Zhang Wen had all vanished down the corridor.
“Phew!” Zhang Wen finally let out a long breath and slumped onto the bench behind him. He had just used up the last bit of his strength to counter Hector’s final strike. Now, he could barely muster any energy at all. If Hector and his group had truly insisted on finishing Zhang Wen off, he would have had no choice but to close his eyes and await death.
“Next time, I absolutely cannot do such life-threatening favors. Even if I don’t get killed, it’ll shave years off my life!” After taking a few deep breaths and regaining some strength, Zhang Wen stood up with a bitter smile.
He walked into the room where Orpheus had shattered the door and immediately saw the unconscious Asura and his companions, who were piled haphazardly in the corner, as well as Countess Melissa, who was bound and thrown onto the only small bed in the room.
“Mm!” Seeing Zhang Wen enter, Melissa struggled to sit up.
Zhang Wen walked over and removed the towel that was gagging Melissa. The beautiful countess immediately lowered her head and took deep breaths. Then, after briefly checking on Asura and the others, Zhang Wen found that they were alive but seemed to have been drugged, all of them unconscious.
“What was that about Arthur and the Empire’s Eagle Guard Commander that those people mentioned?” Melissa asked eagerly as soon as she caught her breath.
“Just a misunderstanding. I don’t know any Eagle Guard Commander,” Zhang Wen replied with a smile as he sat back down on the bed and began untying the ropes around Melissa’s legs.
“A misunderstanding?” Melissa chuckled. “Are you saying that six saint-level experts were scared off by a mere misunderstanding?” Her beautiful eyes, filled with amusement, remained fixed on Zhang Wen’s face.
“Oh, you don’t believe me?” Zhang Wen paused in untying the ropes, raised an eyebrow, and suddenly pushed Melissa back onto the bed.
“Ah!” Melissa let out a surprised cry but then realized that Zhang Wen didn’t make any further moves.
Zhang Wen propped himself up with his hands, his smiling face stopping just thirty centimeters away from Melissa’s. At this distance, they could almost hear each other’s breathing.
Neither Zhang Wen nor Melissa spoke. They simply stared at each other in silence for a dozen seconds before Zhang Wen sat back up and continued untying the ropes around Melissa’s legs.
Melissa silently sat up, allowing Zhang Wen to handle her long, attractive legs. When Zhang Wen finally cut the last knot around her delicate feet, Melissa leaned forward slightly and gently touched her soft lips to the corner of Zhang Wen’s mouth.
“Hmm?” Zhang Wen looked up in surprise.
“That’s an apology. I shouldn’t have doubted you. Now, I have no value for you to exploit, no strength to threaten you, and my life is in your hands. Why would you lie to me?” Melissa pouted slightly and whispered her explanation into Zhang Wen’s ear.
“Diplomat, don’t sound so mournful! It’s as if I’m an unforgivable demon king, and you’re a poor little slave caught in my clutches,” Zhang Wen chuckled as he stood up. “Wait here for a while. Asura and the others will wake up soon. When they do, please explain the situation to them, and they’ll take you out of the arena.”
“And what about you?”
“Obviously! There’s still a bit of our agreement left to fulfill, isn’t there?” Zhang Wen gave Melissa’s beautiful buttocks a firm slap.
Before Melissa could react with a charming protest, Zhang Wen had already vanished like a ghost.
With the pressure from the six saint-level experts gone, Zhang Wen’s actions became much less cautious. He no longer carefully avoided TK Group’s territory, instead unleashing the full power of his Spring Water Technique, charging like a tornado toward the top floor of the arena, where the Black Viscount’s VIP room was located!
With his saint-level strength on full display, no fool in the arena on Planet Fira dared to stand in Zhang Wen’s way. Thus, Zhang Wen raced unimpeded to the Black Viscount’s VIP room and kicked open the tightly shut door.
Inside the Black Viscount’s room, Zhang Wen didn’t see the Black Viscount himself. He only saw an open window and curtains fluttering in the wind.
“Ha! Mr. Zhang Wen, hello. If you’re hearing this, it means you’ve defeated Laika’s six subordinates and rescued your friends,” the central screen suddenly lit up as Zhang Wen entered, and the Black Viscount’s voice echoed through the room. “Ha! Underestimating an opponent is a sin. The next time we meet, I’ll strive not to make the same mistake. Sincerely, farewell.”
Before the Black Viscount’s final words of “farewell” had even faded, Zhang Wen felt a chilling sense of danger suddenly wash over him.
Though he didn’t know where this sense of danger was coming from, Zhang Wen didn’t hesitate. He rushed toward the open window and leaped out.
Boom! The moment Zhang Wen jumped out of the window, an unimaginably vast surge of combat energy erupted in an instant! In just a split second, the walls of the VIP room on the top floor of the Kemel Arena, made of steel reinforced with the sturdiest sea urchin stone, twisted and deformed, crushed into a ball by the terrifying force!
The狂暴的 combat energy, after destroying the Black Viscount’s room, continued to surge outward in all directions. In the blink of an eye, the top of the Kemel Arena building was completely enveloped in a colorful explosion of combat energy!
The towering flames were like a spectacular fireworks display, causing passersby on nearby streets to look up in awe. Zhang Wen, who had narrowly escaped the explosion’s aftermath, landed on the ground and couldn’t help but look up in fear at the top of the Kemel Arena building.
At that moment, the top three floors of the building, which was considered a landmark of Planet Fira, had been completely reduced to ruins! The fire caused by the explosion of combat energy was still raging, and thick black smoke billowed into the sky, obscuring most of the sky over several nearby streets!
In any planet of the Empire, the Kemel Arena was a symbol of power. The people of the Empire had never imagined that anyone would dare to attack the Kemel Arena! Thus, when the passersby first saw the flames erupting from the top of the Kemel Arena, they thought it was just some stunt orchestrated by the arena itself.
It wasn’t until much later, when the thick black smoke began to drift from the top of the arena, that the nearby pedestrians realized that the explosion at the top of the Kemel Arena building wasn’t a trick—it was someone blowing up the Kemel Arena!
“Ah!” Thousands of people on the streets near the Kemel Arena simultaneously screamed in terror, fleeing in all directions.
The streets around the Kemel Arena were among the busiest in Babylon City, and the surging crowd quickly clogged the traffic. Nobles with some strength activated their combat energy to force their way through the crowd. Women and children who were knocked over cried out loudly, and many men were also trampled by the surging crowd, cursing and screaming in pain.
Across from the Kemel Arena, which was now billowing with thick smoke, a young man in a black evening suit with a delicate face stood as if watching an opera, elegantly observing the chaos on the streets. He was the mastermind behind this massive disturbance—the Black Viscount.
Beside the Black Viscount stood a burly man with a fierce expression and a scar on his cheek. He was naturally the planetary warrior Sandru, specially sent by the TK Group to the Black Viscount’s side to handle communications between the two parties.
However, as he watched the tragedy unfolding on the streets, the fierce-looking Sandru appeared extremely nervous. Standing next to the Black Viscount, the expressions of the two men seemed to have been flipped by an invisible hand.
“What? Feeling soft-hearted?” The Black Viscount suddenly turned his smiling face toward Sandru.
“No, of course not. It’s just…” The Black Viscount’s casual attitude sent a chill down Sandru’s spine.
It was this seemingly frail young man who, in the blink of an eye, had destroyed the top three floors of the Kemel Arena!
What did that mean?
The leaders of the four major organizations on Planet Fira, apart from the TK Group, at least six saint-level bounty hunters, over ten strong-level bounty hunters, and at least a hundred top nobles with significant power on Planet Fira, along with their subordinates and friends—all of them had vanished in a single “boom”!
Having orchestrated the deaths of over a hundred important figures and caused a tragedy that left at least a thousand people injured on the streets, the Black Viscount still wore a bright smile, as if those who had died because of him were not people but merely insignificant ants.
At this moment, Sandru couldn’t help but recall the first time he had met this quiet young man at the TK Group’s headquarters.
Sandru clearly remembered that the man had introduced himself with the same relaxed smile, under the watchful eyes of the TK Group’s three saint-level experts.
“Hello, I’m Friedrich Hegel. You can call me the Black Viscount. Or, like my other friends, you can call me by my nickname—’Mr. Death.'”
Sandru remembered that he had secretly mocked the guy for being too arrogant, daring to call himself “Mr. Death.” But now, Sandru finally understood why this seemingly frail man had earned such a terrifying nickname!
If necessary, this guy would undoubtedly wear the same nonchalant smile as he did now and slaughter every person on the planet—or even the entire galaxy! Compared to the Black Viscount, Sandru’s self-proclaimed cruelty and cold-bloodedness seemed as childish as a three-year-old’s!
“Ha! If possible, I wouldn’t have wanted to make such a big scene. Unfortunately, I underestimated the strength of that old friend of mine. He alone held off six of my saint-level fighters, which gave me quite a headache,” the Black Viscount said with a seemingly helpless shrug, then smiled at Sandru and continued, “If I couldn’t help you deal with the saint-level fighters from the other families as agreed, it would have been quite troublesome for you, wouldn’t it?”
“That… is indeed true…” Sandru nodded nervously, his body already drenched in cold sweat.
“Fortunately, all’s well that ends well. That old friend of mine, along with our prearranged targets, have all been taken care of in one go,” the Black Viscount said with a relaxed smile. “Although things got a bit out of hand, this will actually benefit your operations. At least tonight, the Babylon City guard won’t have the time to meddle in the affairs between your group and the other organizations.”
“That’s… correct,” Sandru replied with great difficulty.
“No need to be so nervous,” the Black Viscount smiled at Sandru again. At that moment, the distant sound of the Empire’s guard’s psychic vehicles’ piercing sirens could be heard.
“Let’s go,” the Black Viscount said, taking one last look at the Kemel Arena, now billowing with smoke, before turning and leading Sandru into a nearby alley.
“Hey, Black Viscount…” Just as the Black Viscount and Sandru disappeared into the alley, Zhang Wen, who had leaped from the top of the Kemel Arena, sneered and vanished into the darkness.
Although Zhang Wen was the complete victim in the “Kemel Arena Explosion,” he had no intention of dealing with the Planet Fira’s guard right now.
Before the explosion at the Kemel Arena, Zhang Wen had been the last person to enter the Black Viscount’s room. Moreover, many members of the five major organizations had seen Zhang Wen’s face as he charged to the top floor. Combined with Zhang Wen’s identity as a Cassares bounty hunter, there was no doubt that Zhang Wen, the victim, would become the prime suspect in the “Kemel Arena Top Floor Explosion.”
Even if Zhang Wen could explain the twists and turns of the situation to the guard, he would likely be detained for at least a full day.
On the other hand, after the Black Viscount was forced to blow up the top three floors of the Kemel Arena, Zhang Wen was almost certain that the Black Viscount’s protective forces had been reduced to their lowest point since his arrival on Planet Fira!
In their several rounds of confrontation, Zhang Wen, who was objectively at a severe disadvantage, had actually managed to score a few points against the Black Viscount. Faced with such a dangerous enemy, even if Zhang Wen were in the Black Viscount’s position, he probably wouldn’t let the other party live comfortably. In other words, from the moment Zhang Wen and the Black Viscount arrived on Planet Fira, they were destined to be mortal enemies.
“Phew!” Zhang Wen finally exhaled deeply and sat heavily on a bench behind him. Just now, in order to deal with Hector’s final strike, Zhang Wen had already used up his last ounce of strength. Now, his entire body was almost completely drained of energy. If Hector and the others had insisted on killing Zhang Wen first, Zhang Wen would have had no choice but to wait helplessly for death.
“Never again will I do such a life-threatening good deed. Even if I don’t get killed by someone else, it’ll cost me several years of my life!” After catching his breath for a while and regaining a bit of strength, Zhang Wen stood up with a bitter smile.
He entered the room whose door had just been smashed by Oliphis and immediately saw the unconscious figures of the Xie Luo party lying haphazardly in a corner of the room, and Melissa, the countess, bound and thrown onto the only small bed.
“Waa!” Seeing Zhang Wen enter the room, Melissa immediately struggled to sit up.
Zhang Wen walked over and removed the towel gagging Melissa’s mouth. The beautiful countess immediately lowered her head and took deep breaths. Then, Zhang Wen briefly checked the condition of Xie Luo and the others and found that they were alive but seemed to have been drugged and were all unconscious.
“What was that about Arthur and the Imperial Eagle Guard’s captain those people mentioned earlier?” Melissa, having just caught her breath, eagerly asked Zhang Wen.
“Just a misunderstanding. I don’t even know this captain of the Eagle Guard.” Zhang Wen smiled and sat back down on the bed, helping Melissa untie the ropes binding her beautiful legs.
“A misunderstanding?” Melissa chuckled, “So you’re saying that six Saint-level experts were just scared off by a misunderstanding?” Her beautiful eyes blinked at Zhang Wen, filled with amusement.
“Oh! You don’t believe me?” Zhang Wen paused in his efforts to untie Melissa’s ropes, smirked at her, and suddenly pushed her back onto the bed.
“Ahh!” Melissa let out a startled cry, only to realize that Zhang Wen made no further moves.
Zhang Wen supported his body with both hands, stopping just inches from Melissa’s face with a smile. At this distance, they could almost hear each other’s breathing.
Then, neither Zhang Wen nor Melissa spoke. They silently gazed at each other for a dozen seconds before Zhang Wen sat back up and continued helping Melissa untie the ropes on her legs.
Melissa also sat up quietly, allowing Zhang Wen to handle her beautiful legs. And when Zhang Wen finally cut the last knot binding her delicate foot, Melissa suddenly leaned forward slightly, her soft lips gently brushing against the corner of Zhang Wen’s mouth.
“Hmm?” Zhang Wen raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“This is an apology. I shouldn’t have doubted you. Now that I no longer have any value for you to exploit, nor the strength to threaten you, and my life is entirely in your hands, why would you have any reason to deceive me?” Melissa pouted prettily and whispered in Zhang Wen’s ear.
“Madam Diplomat, don’t sound so sorrowful! As if I were an unforgivable evil overlord and you were a helpless little female slave who had fallen into my clutches.” Zhang Wen smiled as he stood up. “Wait here for a while. Xie Luo and the others will wake up soon. Then, I’ll trouble you to explain the situation to them. They’ll take you away from the arena with them.”
“What about you?”
“Nonsense! Don’t I still have a little unfinished business left to complete with you, my dear?” Zhang Wen gave Melissa’s beautiful bottom a hearty slap.
Before Melissa could recover and let out her melodious coquettish protest, Zhang Wen had already vanished like a ghost.
With the pressure from the six Saint-level experts gone, Zhang Wen’s movements were much freer. He no longer carefully avoided the territory of the TK group, fully activating his Spring Water Technique battle energy, rushing like a whirlwind toward the VIP room on the top floor of the arena, which belonged to the Black Viscount!
Revealing his Saint-level strength naturally meant no foolish fool on Fira Planet would dare block Zhang Wen’s path in the arena. Thus, Zhang Wen sped forward without any hindrance straight to the Black Viscount’s VIP room, kicking the tightly closed door flying open.
Inside the Black Viscount’s room, Zhang Wen did not see the viscount himself. All he saw was an open window and curtains occasionally fluttering in the wind.
“Hello, Mr. Zhang. If you can hear this message, it means you’ve already defeated the six subordinates of Miss Lyka and rescued your friends,” the central screen suddenly lit up as Zhang Wen entered the room, and the voice of the Black Viscount followed. “Underestimating an opponent is a sin. Next time we meet, I’ll strive not to make the same mistake again. Yours sincerely.”
Before the final word “salute” from the Black Viscount had even finished echoing, Zhang Wen already felt a chilling sense of crisis suddenly descend upon him.
“Go!” Realizing that Laika might become Arthur’s target, the blond leader Hector showed almost no hesitation. With a cold expression, he shouted to his companions. Immediately, the broadsword in Hector’s hand swiftly transformed back into its form of thought steel. Verdi quickly hoisted the severely injured Will onto his back. The silver-haired man Orpheus, along with Murphy and Saya, all sheathed their weapons and followed Hector out of the room. In the blink of an eye, the six saint-level experts who had ambushed Zhang Wen disappeared down the corridor.
“Whew!” Only then did Zhang Wen let out a long breath, collapsing onto a bench behind him. To counter Hector’s final strike, Zhang Wen had already exhausted every last bit of his strength. Now, he could barely muster any energy at all. If Hector and his group had truly insisted on finishing Zhang Wen off, he would have had no choice but to close his eyes and await death.

He entered the room where Orpheus had smashed the door and immediately spotted the unconscious Shura and his companions, who were haphazardly piled in the corner, as well as Countess Melissa, bound and thrown onto the only small bed in the room.
“Mm!” Seeing Zhang Wen enter, Melissa struggled to sit up.
Zhang Wen walked over and removed the towel gagging Melissa. The beautiful countess immediately lowered her head, gasping for air. After briefly checking on Shura and the others, Zhang Wen found that they were unharmed but seemed to have been drugged, all lying unconscious.
“What was that about Arthur, the Empire’s Eagle Guard Commander, that those people mentioned?” Melissa asked eagerly as soon as she caught her breath.

“Huh?” Zhang Wen looked up in surprise.
“That’s my apology. I shouldn’t have doubted you. Now, I have no value for you to exploit, no strength to threaten you, and my life is in your hands. Why would you lie to me?” Melissa pouted adorably, whispering her explanation into Zhang Wen’s ear.
“Diplomat, don’t sound so tragic! It’s as if I’m some irredeemable demon king, and you’re a poor little slave caught in my clutches,” Zhang Wen laughed, standing up. “Wait here for a while. Shura and the others will wake up soon. When they do, please explain the situation to them. They’ll take you out of the arena.”
“And you?”
“Obviously! There’s still a bit of our agreement left to fulfill, isn’t there?” Zhang Wen gave Melissa’s beautiful buttocks a firm slap.
Before Melissa could react with a charming protest, Zhang Wen had already vanished like a ghost.
With the pressure from the six saint-level experts gone, Zhang Wen’s actions became far less restrained. Moreover, many members of the five major organizations had seen Zhang Wen’s face as he charged to the top floor. Combined with his identity as a Casares bounty fighter, there was no doubt that Zhang Wen, the victim, would become the prime suspect in the “Kemel Arena Top Floor Explosion.”
Even if Zhang Wen could explain the intricate details to the defense forces, he would likely be detained for at least a full day.
On the other hand, after the Black Viscount was forced to blow up the top three floors of the Kemel Arena, Zhang Wen was almost certain that the Black Viscount’s protective forces had been reduced to their lowest point since his arrival on Planet Fira!

Boom! The moment Zhang Wen dove out the window, an unimaginably massive battle energy erupted in an instant! In the blink of an eye, the walls of the VIP room on the top floor of the Kemmel Arena, made of steel mixed with the strongest sea urchin stone, twisted and deformed, instantly crushed into a mass by terrifying force!
The violent battle energy, after destroying the room where the Black Viscount was, continued to surge outward in all directions. In the blink of an eye, the top of the Kemmel Arena tower was completely enveloped in multicolored battle energy!
The surging flames rose like magnificent fireworks, causing passersby on nearby streets to look up in astonishment. Just barely escaping the blast wave, Zhang Wen landed on the ground and couldn’t help but immediately look up, staring fearfully at the top of the Kemmel Arena tower.
At this moment, the entire top three floors of the tower, which was considered a landmark building on Fira Planet, had completely turned into ruins! The fire caused by the battle energy explosion was still raging, with thick black smoke rising into the sky, covering half the sky over several nearby streets!
On any planet in the Empire, the Kemmel Arena could be considered a symbol of power. The Empire people had almost never imagined that someone would dare to attack the Kemmel Arena with such audacity! Therefore, when the pedestrians on the road first saw the light and flame erupting from the top of the Kemmel Arena, they all thought it was just another show put on by the arena itself.
It wasn’t until a long while later, when the rolling black smoke drifted down from the top of the arena, that the nearby pedestrians realized that the explosion at the top of the Kemmel Arena tower was not a show but an actual attack that had blown up the Kemmel Arena!
“Ahh!” On several streets near the Kemmel Tower, thousands of people simultaneously let out frightened screams and aimlessly fled in all directions.
The few streets near the Kemmel Arena had originally been the most prosperous streets in Babylon City. The surging crowds quickly blocked traffic. Slightly capable nobles activated their battle energy, forcibly pushing through the crowd to create a path. Women and children who were knocked over cried out loudly, and many men were also trampled by the surging crowd, cursing and screaming in pain.
Across from the Kemmel Tower, which was now emitting thick smoke, a young man dressed in a black tuxedo with a refined face was elegantly watching the chaos on the street as if he were watching an opera. He was none other than the instigator of this great commotion, the Black Viscount.
Beside the Black Viscount stood a burly man with a sinister appearance and a scar on his cheek. Naturally, he was Sandro, the planetary warrior specially assigned by the TK group to the Black Viscount for liaison purposes.
However, watching the tragedy unfolding on the streets, the sinister-looking Sandro appeared extremely nervous. Standing next to the Black Viscount, the expressions of the two men seemed as if an invisible hand had reversed them.
“What? Feeling soft-hearted?” The Black Viscount suddenly turned his smiling face toward Sandro.
“No, of course not feeling soft-hearted. Just…” The Black Viscount’s nonchalant attitude made Sandro shiver all over.
It was this seemingly frail young man in front of him who, in the blink of an eye, had destroyed the top three floors of the Kemmel Arena!
What did that mean?
Among the five major organizations on Fira Planet, except for the TK group, the leaders of the other four organizations, at least six Saint-level bounty fighters, more than ten high-level bounty fighters, and at least hundreds of top nobles and their subordinates and friends who held high positions and great power on Fira Planet… were all reduced to ashes in a single “boom”!
Having personally orchestrated the deaths of hundreds of important figures and caused a tragedy in which at least a thousand people on the streets were injured, this Black Viscount still wore a bright smile, as if those who died because of him weren’t people, but just a few insignificant ants.
At this moment, Sandro couldn’t help but recall the first time he met this quiet young man at the TK group headquarters.
Sandro still clearly remembered that this man had introduced himself with the same relaxed smile while being watched by three Saint-level experts from their TK group.
“Hello, I’m Friedrich Hegel. You can call me the Black Viscount. Or, like my other friends, you can call me by my nickname ‘Mr. Death.'”
Sandro remembered that he had secretly mocked this guy for being too arrogant to dare to call himself “Mr. Death.” But now, Sandro finally understood why this frail-looking guy had earned such a terrifying nickname!
If necessary, this guy would definitely wear the same nonchalant smile as now and kill off everyone on the entire planet, or even the entire star system! Compared to the Black Viscount, Sandro’s self-proclaimed ruthlessness and cold-bloodedness was like childish naivety!
“Hehe! If possible, I wouldn’t have wanted to make such a big mess. Unfortunately, I underestimated the strength of that old friend of mine. He alone held off my six Saint-level fighters, which gave me quite a headache.” The Black Viscount helplessly spread his hands and smiled at Sandro before continuing, “If I couldn’t help you deal with the Saint-level fighters from the other factions as agreed, I suppose it would be quite difficult for you as well.”
“This… yes, that’s true…” Sandro nervously nodded, his body already soaked in cold sweat.
“Fortunately, everything turned out well in the end. Both my old friend and our prearranged target were taken care of in one go.” The Black Viscount said with an easy smile, “Although things did get a bit out of hand, it will actually benefit your operation. At the very least, tonight, the Babylon City garrison won’t have the time to meddle in your little affairs with the other organizations.”
“Y-yes, that’s right.” Sandro replied weakly, trying to keep up with the Black Viscount.
“Go!” Realizing that Laika was likely to become Arthur’s target, the blond leader Hector showed almost no hesitation. With a cold expression, he shouted to his companions. Immediately, the broadsword in Hector’s hand swiftly transformed back into its original form of Nian steel. Wilbur quickly hoisted his severely injured brother onto his back. The silver-haired man, Orpheus, along with Murphy and Saya, all sheathed their weapons and followed Hector out of the room. In the blink of an eye, the six saint-level experts who had ambushed Zhang Wen had all vanished down the corridor.
“Whew!” Zhang Wen finally let out a long breath and slumped onto the bench behind him. He had just used up the last of his strength to fend off Hector’s final strike.
He walked into the room where Orpheus had shattered the door and immediately spotted the unconscious members of the Shura team, haphazardly piled in the corner, and Countess Melissa, bound and thrown onto the only small bed in the room.
“Mm!” Seeing Zhang Wen enter, Melissa struggled to sit up.
Zhang Wen walked over and removed the towel that had been stuffed in Melissa’s mouth. The beautiful countess immediately lowered her head and took several deep breaths. After briefly checking on the Shura team, Zhang Wen found that they were alive but seemed to have been drugged, all of them unconscious.
“You mean to say that six saint-level experts were scared off by a mere misunderstanding?” Her beautiful eyes, filled with amusement, remained fixed on Zhang Wen’s face.
“Oh, you don’t believe me?” Zhang Wen paused in his task of untying Melissa and raised an eyebrow, suddenly pushing her back onto the bed.
“Ah!” Melissa let out a startled cry but quickly realized that Zhang Wen had no further intentions.
Zhang Wen propped himself up with his hands, his smiling face now just inches away from Melissa’s. At this distance, they could almost hear each other’s breathing.
Neither Zhang Wen nor Melissa spoke. They simply stared at each other in silence for a dozen seconds before Zhang Wen sat back up and continued untying the ropes around Melissa’s legs.
Melissa silently sat up, allowing Zhang Wen to handle her long, alluring legs. When Zhang Wen finally cut the last knot binding her delicate feet, Melissa leaned forward slightly and gently brushed her soft lips against the corner of Zhang Wen’s mouth.
“Hmm?” Zhang Wen looked up in surprise.
“That’s my apology. I shouldn’t have doubted you. Now, I have no value for you to exploit, no power to threaten you, and my life is in your hands. Why would you lie to me?” Melissa pouted slightly and whispered her explanation into Zhang Wen’s ear.
“Diplomat, don’t sound so tragic! It’s as if I’m an unforgivable demon king, and you’re a poor little slave caught in my clutches,” Zhang Wen chuckled as he stood up. “Wait here for a while. The Shura team will wake up soon. When they do, please explain the situation to them. They’ll take you out of the arena.”
“And you?”
“Obviously! There’s still a bit of our agreement left to fulfill, isn’t there?” Zhang Wen gave Melissa’s shapely buttocks a firm slap.
Before Melissa could react with a charming protest, Zhang Wen had already vanished like a ghost.
With the pressure from the six saint-level experts gone, Zhang Wen’s movements became much less cautious. He no longer carefully avoided TK Group’s territory. With his Spring Water Technique fully unleashed, he charged like a whirlwind toward the top floor of the arena, heading straight for the VIP room belonging to the Black Baron.
With his saint-level strength on full display, no fool in the arena on Planet Fira dared to stand in Zhang Wen’s way. Thus, Zhang Wen raced unimpeded to the Black Baron’s VIP room and kicked the tightly shut door open.
Inside the Black Baron’s room, Zhang Wen didn’t find the Black Baron himself. Instead, he saw an open window and curtains fluttering in the breeze.
“Ah, Mr. Zhang Wen, hello. If you’re hearing this, it means you’ve defeated Laika’s six subordinates and rescued your friends,” the central screen suddenly lit up as the Black Baron’s voice echoed through the room. “Underestimating an opponent is a sin. The next time we meet, I’ll strive not to make the same mistake. With my regards.”
Before the Black Baron’s final words of “with my regards” had even faded, Zhang Wen felt a chilling sense of danger suddenly wash over him.
Though he didn’t know where this sense of danger was coming from, Zhang Wen didn’t hesitate. He rushed toward the open window and leaped out.
Boom! The moment Zhang Wen jumped out of the window, an unimaginable surge of combat energy erupted! In an instant, the walls of the top-floor VIP room, made of steel reinforced with the sturdiest sea urchin stone, twisted and deformed, crushed by the terrifying force.
The violent energy, after destroying the Black Baron’s room, continued to spread in all directions. In the blink of an eye, the top of the Kemal Arena building was completely engulfed in a colorful explosion of energy.
The towering flames were like a magnificent fireworks display, drawing the attention of pedestrians on nearby streets. Zhang Wen, who had narrowly escaped the blast, landed on the ground and couldn’t help but look up in fear at the top of the Kemal Arena building.
At that moment, the top three floors of the building, a landmark of Planet Fira, had been reduced to rubble! The fire caused by the explosion raged on, and thick black smoke billowed into the sky, obscuring much of the surrounding area.
On any planet in the Empire, the Kemal Arena was a symbol of power. The people of the Empire had never imagined that anyone would dare to attack the Kemal Arena! Thus, when the pedestrians first saw the flames erupting from the top of the arena, they thought it was some kind of stunt orchestrated by the arena itself.
It wasn’t until much later, when the thick black smoke began to drift down from the top of the arena, that the nearby pedestrians realized that the explosion at the top of the Kemal Arena building wasn’t a spectacle—it was an attack!
“Ah!” Thousands of people on the streets near the Kemal building let out terrified screams, fleeing in all directions.
The streets around the Kemal Arena were among the busiest in Babylon City. The surging crowd quickly clogged the streets, and the more powerful nobles used their combat energy to force their way through the chaos. Women and children who were knocked down cried out, and many men were also trampled, cursing and screaming in pain.
Across from the Kemal building, which was now engulfed in thick smoke, a young man in a black evening suit watched the chaotic scene with the elegance of someone enjoying an opera. He was the mastermind behind this massive disturbance—the Black Baron.
Beside the Black Baron stood a burly man with a fierce expression and a scar on his cheek. He was none other than Sandro, the planetary fighter sent by the TK Group to liaise with the Black Baron.
However, as he watched the tragedy unfolding on the streets, the fierce-looking Sandro appeared extremely nervous. Standing next to the Black Baron, the two men’s expressions seemed to have been flipped by an invisible hand.
“What? Feeling soft-hearted?” The Black Baron suddenly turned his smiling face toward Sandro.
“No, of course not. It’s just…” The Black Baron’s casual demeanor sent chills down Sandro’s spine.
It was this seemingly frail young man who had, in the blink of an eye, destroyed the top three floors of the Kemal Arena!
What did that mean?
The leaders of the four major organizations on Planet Fira (excluding the TK Group), at least six saint-level bounty fighters, over ten strong-level bounty fighters, and at least a hundred top nobles with significant influence on Planet Fira, along with their subordinates and friends—all of them had vanished in a single “boom”!
Having orchestrated the deaths of over a hundred prominent figures and caused the injury of at least a thousand people on the streets, the Black Baron still wore a bright smile, as if those who had died because of him were nothing more than insignificant ants.
At that moment, Sandro couldn’t help but recall the first time he had met this quiet young man at the TK Group’s headquarters.
Sandro clearly remembered how the man had introduced himself with the same relaxed smile, under the watchful eyes of the TK Group’s three saint-level experts.
“Hello, I’m Friedrich Hegel. You can call me the Black Baron. Or, like my other friends, you can call me by my nickname—’Mr. Death.'”
Sandro remembered how he had secretly mocked the man for being so arrogant as to call himself “Mr. Death.” But now, Sandro finally understood why this seemingly frail man had earned such a terrifying nickname.
If necessary, this man would undoubtedly wear the same nonchalant smile as he wiped out an entire planet—or even an entire star system! Compared to the Black Baron, Sandro’s own self-proclaimed cruelty and cold-bloodedness seemed as childish as a three-year-old’s!
“Haha! If possible, I wouldn’t have wanted to make such a big scene. Unfortunately, I underestimated the strength of that old friend of mine. He single-handedly held off six of my saint-level fighters, giving me quite a headache,” the Black Baron said with a seemingly helpless shrug, then smiled at Sandro and continued, “If I hadn’t fulfilled our agreement to help you deal with the saint-level fighters from the other groups, you would have been in quite a bind, wouldn’t you?”
“That… is true…” Sandro nodded nervously, his body already drenched in cold sweat.
“Fortunately, all’s well that ends well. That old friend of mine, along with our prearranged targets, have all been taken care of in one go,” the Black Baron said with a relaxed smile. “Though the scale of the event was a bit larger than expected, it will still benefit your operations. At the very least, the Babylon City defense forces won’t have the time to meddle in the affairs between your group and the others tonight.”
“Y-yes,” Sandro replied with great difficulty.
“No need to be so tense,” the Black Baron said with another smile. At that moment, the distant sound of the Empire’s defense force’s hovercars’ shrill sirens could be faintly heard.
“Let’s go,” the Black Baron said, taking one last look at the smoke-filled Kemal building before turning and leading Sandro into a nearby alley.
“Hey, Black Baron…” Just as the Black Baron and Sandro disappeared into the alley, Zhang Wen, who had leaped from the top of the Kemal Arena, let out a cold laugh and vanished into the darkness.
Although Zhang Wen was the complete victim in the “Kemal Arena Explosion,” he had no intention of dealing with the defense forces of Planet Fira right now.
Before the explosion, Zhang Wen had been the last person to enter the Black Baron’s room. Moreover, many members of the five major organizations had seen Zhang Wen’s face as he charged to the top floor. Combined with his identity as a Cassares bounty fighter, there was no doubt that Zhang Wen, the victim, would become the prime suspect in the “Kemal Arena Top-Floor Explosion.”
Even if Zhang Wen could explain the intricate details to the defense forces, he would likely be detained for at least a full day.
On the other hand, after the Black Baron was forced to blow up the top three floors of the Kemal building, Zhang Wen was almost certain that the Black Baron’s protective forces had been reduced to their lowest point since his arrival on Planet Fira!
In their several rounds of confrontation, Zhang Wen, who was objectively at a severe disadvantage, had actually managed to score a few points against the Black Baron. Faced with such a dangerous enemy, even if Zhang Wen were in the Black Baron’s position, he probably wouldn’t dare to let the other party live comfortably. In other words, from the moment Zhang Wen and the Black Baron arrived on Planet Fira, they were destined to be mortal enemies.
“Let’s go.” The Black Viscount gave one last glance at the smoke billowing from the Kemmel Tower before turning and walking with Sandro into the alley beside them.
“Hey! Black Viscount…” Just as the Black Viscount and Sandro slipped into the alley, less than half a street away, Zhang Wen, who had just leapt down from the top of the Kemmel Arena, also let out a cold laugh and disappeared into the darkness.
Although Zhang Wen was a complete victim in the “Kemmel Arena Explosion Incident,” he certainly didn’t want to deal with the Fira Planet Garrison at the moment.
Before the explosion at the Kemmel Arena, Zhang Wen had just happened to be the last person to enter the Black Viscount’s room. Moreover, when Zhang Wen rushed to the top floor, many members of the five major organizations present had seen his face. Combined with his identity as a Cassares bounty fighter, there was no doubt that the victim Zhang Wen would become the prime suspect in the “Kemmel Arena Top Floor Explosion Incident.”
Even if Zhang Wen could explain the whole story to the Garrison, he would probably be detained for at least a whole day.
On the other hand, after the Black Viscount was forced to blow up the top three floors of the Kemmel Tower, Zhang Wen was almost certain that the protective forces around the Black Viscount had dropped to the lowest point since his arrival on Fira Planet!
In the several rounds of confrontation between Zhang Wen and the Black Viscount, despite being at a clear disadvantage in objective conditions, Zhang Wen had actually managed to score a few points against the Black Viscount. Facing such a dangerous enemy, even if Zhang Wen were in the Black Viscount’s position, he probably wouldn’t let the other party live comfortably. In other words, from the moment Zhang Wen and the Black Viscount arrived on Fira Planet simultaneously, the two were destined to be mortal enemies who could not both survive.
Therefore, even without considering his promise to Melissa, for his own safety, Zhang Wen could not miss this best—and perhaps the only—opportunity to kill the Black Viscount.
In the dark, labyrinthine alleys at the heart of Babylon City, two figures were swiftly moving eastward. The Black Viscount and his last remaining bodyguard, Sandro, had been running through these alleys for nearly an hour. The area that had just been sealed off by Babylon City’s Imperial Guards was already far behind them. Now, as long as they left the alleys, boarded a psychokinetically-powered hovercar, and traveled eastward for roughly twenty minutes, they would reach the “final safe point” the Black Viscount had previously arranged.
At his “final safe point,” the Black Viscount had left a private spaceship fully fueled with psychokinetic energy, ready for immediate departure. If he could just make it there, nothing that happened on the planet Fira would pose any threat to him anymore. He would be watching from orbit above Fira, observing everything that would unfold next in Babylon City.
However, just as they were nearly about to exit the alley and enter the main road, the Black Viscount suddenly came to a halt.
Sandro ran a few more steps before realizing and moving ahead of the Viscount. He turned around nervously, asking, “What’s wrong?”
“Someone has come knocking,” the Black Viscount straightened his posture, his gaze passing over Sandro and fixing on the alley’s exit.
“Who? Who’s come?” Sandro looked around in alarm. Then he heard a faint chuckle from behind.
“Zhang Wen?!” Sandro spun around immediately, his face filled with terror, as if he had seen a ghost.
“Hehe! Black Viscount, we finally meet,” Zhang Wen said calmly, stepping out from the alley’s entrance.
“That’s right. Indeed, this is our first official meeting,” the Black Viscount smiled as well, his face showing no trace of tension.
“Enough talk! I’m not one for fancy speeches. Let’s get straight to it,” Zhang Wen said, stopping about ten paces from the Black Viscount and Sandro. A flash of blue light gleamed in his hand as he gripped his familiar longsword.
“Hehe! Andrei·Stain, never thought it would come to this! Our final confrontation ends up like barbarians, decided by brute force. Such is the way of the world—when things reach their extremes, they reverse; fate is truly unpredictable,” the Black Viscount smiled again, stretching out his right hand sideways without hesitation.
A red glow flickered, and the psychosteel strapped to his palm transformed instantly into a uniquely-shaped curved dagger.
“An Arch-Saint psionicist?” As the Black Viscount shaped his psychosteel into his preferred weapon, Zhang Wen slightly furrowed his brow.
That the Black Viscount was an Arch-Saint psionicist wasn’t particularly surprising. The Viscount had always been known as someone who preferred thinking over fighting. Given his intelligence, reaching the Arch-Saint level in psionics wasn’t strange at all. What truly puzzled Zhang Wen was the Black Viscount’s attitude.
Judging purely from surface-level strength, Zhang Wen, a Saint-level martial artist, clearly had a massive advantage in a close-quarters fight over the Black Viscount, who, despite also being an Arch-Saint, was primarily a psionicist. As for Sandro, whose power level probably didn’t exceed the Ninth Tier, he was practically negligible in a battle between Saint-level experts.
Yet the Black Viscount remained so calm in the face of an opponent far superior to himself, not even attempting to persuade Zhang Wen to cooperate—as if he had complete confidence in victory!
What else is he hiding… Zhang Wen stared at the Black Viscount, racking his brain. Finally, when he noticed the Black Viscount’s left hand, which had been kept behind his back the entire time, a sudden realization struck him like lightning.
“Damn it!” Zhang Wen roared, instantly activating the Spring Water Technique to its maximum, and like a bolt of lightning, he lunged toward the Black Viscount ten paces away.
“Hehe! Truly the Ruby Serpent—your reaction speed is astonishing, but alas, it’s too late!” the Black Viscount laughed loudly, stepping to the left and positioning himself precisely behind Sandro’s muscular frame.
Unaware of what was happening, Sandro pulled the most ferocious expression he could muster and swung his crystal-energy sword, which he had hidden behind his back, straight at the charging Zhang Wen.
“Get out of my way!” Zhang Wen growled furiously, unleashing his full strength in a single slash. Sandro, caught in the path of the strike, was sent flying like a golf ball hit by a club, spinning through the air.
Zhang Wen had no time to consider Sandro’s fate after being struck with such force. He pushed off the ground again, launching himself like a bolt of lightning through the explosion of air toward the Black Viscount, now less than five paces away.
However, just as Zhang Wen’s full-force strike was about to land on the Black Viscount, a massive force suddenly erupted from the Viscount’s body. Zhang Wen felt as if he had slammed into an invisible wall and was hurled backward with great force.
In the next instant, the faint Saint-level psionic glow surrounding the Black Viscount flared up into a blinding red radiance. In the blink of an eye, the red light pouring from the Viscount’s body gathered into a towering pillar of light. Everything within the range of this pillar was instantly shredded into nothingness, vaporized without a trace.
Sandro, who had just been sent flying by Zhang Wen and landed on the ground, had not even let out a sound before being engulfed by the red beam of light from the Black Viscount, vanishing from existence in an instant.
At this moment, Zhang Wen also exerted himself fully, using the Ghost Step technique repeatedly, desperately bouncing off the steel walls of nearby buildings, barely escaping the red pillar’s range.
“Hehe, so this is what it feels like to ascend beyond the Saint level… truly exhilarating!” the Black Viscount raised both hands, gazing around in satisfaction.
Where the Black Viscount once stood, the narrow alley was gone. In its place was a scene as if struck by a full-power orbital bombardment: large portions of surrounding steel buildings had vanished, and on the ground lay a crater over a hundred meters in diameter and more than ten meters deep.
“Zero—Ancient Reagent…” Zhang Wen, standing at the edge of the crater, exhaled helplessly, muttering those words.
