Chapter 63: The Realm of White Mist

A thick white mist obscured everything, and even in Qian Ye’s true vision, he could only see through a few hundred meters. This was far from enough to penetrate the misty area, not even reaching the outskirts.

From an aerial view, it would be clear that the white mist had enveloped the entire Blessed Land and was still expanding, not only spreading over a wider area but also increasing in height. In just half a day, this strange and mysterious fog covered hundreds of square kilometers.

The white mist’s obstruction of perception reminded Qian Ye of the Fog Forest on the Floating Continent. However, the Fog Forest and this place were different; although it was eerie, it was still within acceptable limits. But this time, the white mist gave Qian Ye a peculiar and cold feeling, as if it did not belong and was actively repelling him.

Qian Ye’s mastery of both Dawn and Dark origin power was extremely refined, allowing him to adapt to almost any corner of the Evernight world. This was the first time he had experienced being rejected and repelled by the environment. He felt like an outsider, being expelled by the entire world. Or perhaps, these white mists were the outsiders?

He gazed into the depths of the white mist, and at the end of his line of sight, the dense, rolling mists had gathered into what looked like clusters of white fluff, so thick that even Qian Ye’s vision could not penetrate them.

Qian Ye did not rush to act and continued to observe. The white mist was constantly changing, and within those clusters, Qian Ye sensed a hint of danger. At this point, there were very few things that could make him feel threatened.

Just then, the white mist behind him churned, and Eska and Xu Jingxuan emerged from either side. Seeing Qian Ye, they breathed a sigh of relief, “You’re here! We were worried and followed to check.”

Before they could finish, Qian Ye shouted, “Be careful!” Several gray shadows darted out from the depths of the white mist, rushing toward them like lightning!

Eska and Xu Jingxuan were startled and instinctively tried to dodge, but they suddenly found their movements slightly sluggish. This tiny delay was enough to make them unable to intercept, and they were about to be hit by the gray shadows.

Qian Ye, holding the heavy sword Dongyue, swept it horizontally, blocking the two gray shadows. The two shadows crashed almost simultaneously onto the blade of Dongyue, eliciting a dragon-like sword hum, and then bounced back.

Despite the abruptness of the block, Qian Ye’s hand trembled slightly. Even with his ancient bloodline, the force of the impact was so great that it made his hand shake. If they had been hit, Eska and Xu Jingxuan would have been severely injured.

The gray shadows landed, revealing their true forms. They were strange, fish-like creatures, about two meters long, with four pectoral fins that allowed them to walk. Their heads were abnormally sharp, filled with razor-sharp teeth, making them look extremely ferocious.

The two monsters, stunned by Dongyue, struggled to get up, displaying remarkable vitality. Seeing the sharp horns and fangs, Eska and Xu Jingxuan broke out in a cold sweat.

“Be careful,” Qian Ye called out again, his Dongyue forming a series of sword shadows. After several clangs, more monsters fell to the ground.

This time, Qian Ye did not attempt to block them directly but used his supreme swordsmanship to slice the monsters in half. They were fast, but their bodies were not particularly strong, comparable to ordinary land beasts. When they landed, their severed halves tried to crawl back together, seemingly trying to rejoin. The cross-sections of their wounds bubbled with layers of white foam, similar to the deep white mist.

Once the two halves crawled back together, the white foam fused them, and new flesh grew, turning them back into a complete monster.

Eska and Xu Jingxuan watched in amazement. Fortunately, the newly formed monsters appeared weak and lay motionless. They rushed forward and cut the reassembled monster into seventeen or eighteen pieces, finally stopping its movement.

Qian Ye squatted beside the shattered corpse of a monster, dabbing a bit of the white foam with his finger. After a close inspection, he confirmed that the components of the white foam were similar to the white mist, both based on a unique type of origin power.

Upon closer contact with the white foam, Qian Ye felt the fluids and moisture in his skin being drawn out, trying to break through the skin barrier. He released his body’s defenses, and a drop of blood seeped from his fingertip, quickly dissolving into the white foam.

The moment Qian Ye’s blood left his body, it turned the entire mass of white foam into a dark golden color, and the foam began to violently agitate. Qian Ye’s blood and the foam engaged in a fierce struggle. In a flash, the dark golden foam transformed into a pool of clear water, absorbed by the surrounding white mist.

A single drop of Qian Ye’s blood had fought a deadlocked battle against the white foam secreted by nearly the entire monster, resulting in mutual annihilation. From the outcome, it was clear that Qian Ye had completely dominated, showing the vast difference in bloodline strength. However, the aggression of the white foam was unprecedented, and the number of these fog creatures was unknown.

“Let’s go deeper,” Qian Ye said.

Eska and Xu Jingxuan flanked Qian Ye, guarding his sides. The three walked on the ground, heading deeper into the white mist. Along the way, several waves of monsters attacked, most of which were killed by Qian Ye, while a few were intercepted by Eska and Xu Jingxuan.

After overcoming the initial panic, they realized that while the monsters were fast, they lacked flexibility. Their attacks were like arrows shot by an ordinary warrior, difficult to turn once released. Dodging or deflecting their attacks at the right moment was enough to stop them, and a counterattack could easily kill them.

Their bodies were not particularly strong. Eska, without weapons, could tear them apart with his werewolf claws. In his werewolf form, he could handle their sudden attacks. Xu Jingxuan, with a combat strength equivalent to a marquis, had no trouble at all. He could even burst the necks of the monsters with a short gun. Although the monsters could reassemble, if a part of their body was destroyed, they were finished.

The three continued to advance, soon reaching the area blocked by the fluffy white mist.

Up close, the white mist was unreasonably thick, like a wall made of cotton clouds, stretching to the sky and horizon, standing in front of them.

Qian Ye frowned, looking at the mist wall, about to test it, when he heard Xu Jingxuan mutter, “So thirsty!”

How could someone of Xu Jingxuan’s level be thirsty? Qian Ye was puzzled and turned to look, alarmed by what he saw.

Xu Jingxuan was drenched in sweat, with pale pink beads, unaware of it, constantly licking his dry, cracked lips and calling for water.

“Old Xu, what’s wrong with you?” Eska shouted in alarm.

Xu Jingxuan was taken aback, “I’m fine, just a little thirsty!”

“You’re sweating.”

Xu Jingxuan wiped his forehead and saw the pale pink sweat. His face changed. With his strength, he could see that the pinkish hue was due to blood. He had been sweating blood!

Eska suddenly said, “I’m a bit thirsty too!” He touched his body under the thick fur and found his hands covered in pale pink sweat. Though not as much as Xu Jingxuan, it was alarming.

Qian Ye said gravely, “This white mist seems to have the ability to extract the water from living beings. Your strength is at its limit here. Go back, and you should be fine once out of the mist’s range.”

“What about you?”

Qian Ye glanced at the mist wall, “I’ll go in and take a look.”

“This can’t be!” Eska and Xu Jingxuan exclaimed, urging him to reconsider, but Qian Ye was resolute and insisted they go back.

By now, Qian Ye had a good understanding of the mist’s properties. The force extracting water could be countered by the strength of a powerful individual. While Xu Jingxuan’s cultivation was higher than Eska’s, his werewolf form was robust, making him more resilient. However, in front of the mist wall, both Eska and Xu Jingxuan could no longer control the water in their bodies.

This was also the reason the wolves seen earlier had become mummified.

Qian Ye was certain, and under his command, Xu Jingxuan and Eska complied. They knew that following him further would only be a burden.

As they were about to leave, a wolfman suddenly burst out of the mist nearby, completely frenzied, and lunged at them.

Qian Ye frowned and slapped the wolfman, knocking him unconscious. Flipping his eyelids, Qian Ye saw his eyes bloodshot and white foam oozing from his mouth, signs of severe exhaustion.

Eska touched the wolfman’s fur, “Why isn’t he sweating?”

This wolfman, with his low strength, shouldn’t have survived here. He should have become a mummy, yet he seemed unaffected by the mist.

Qian Ye thought for a moment, “Take him back and keep a close watch. Don’t let him escape.”

Eska and Xu Jingxuan understood the importance of this unusual wolfman. Xu Jingxuan carried the wolfman, and Eska guarded, leaving quickly.

Qian Ye looked at the wall of fluffy white mist and stepped in without hesitation.

Inside, the mist was boundless, even the ground beneath his feet seemed to vanish, entirely made of wisps. Walking in such a place, the world felt unreal.

Qian Ye activated his Eye of Dominion, and the surrounding mist parted, gradually expanding his vision. He dodged two incoming monsters, casually killing them, and continued deeper into the mist.

Logically, the core of the Blessed Land should be within the mist, similar to the outer areas with fields and wolfmen. Yet, Qian Ye’s perception revealed only endless mist, and beyond a certain point, it became impenetrable.

As he continued to slay the monsters emerging from the mist, the mist before him began to thin, and a feeling completely different from the Evernight world enveloped him.

Taking another step, the scene before Qian Ye changed, revealing a never-before-seen new world.
