Chapter 180: Three Years’ Time

Xiao Yufan finally understood why Lin Pingle’s mood had always been so low—it turned out he had suffered a setback in love. Although it had only been a few minutes, Xiao Yufan could already sense how much Lin Pingle truly cared for that woman.

The atmosphere was unusually tense. Qing Luan stood closely beside Xiao Yufan, her lips curling into a disdainful curve. She recognized this man—the same corporate parasite as Qin Lou.

His gaze greedily roamed over Qing Luan’s body, and the man swallowed hard, his eyes fixed on her ample curves. His body had already begun to heat up, his adam’s apple bobbing slightly, his mind already indulging in fantasies.

Qing Luan showed no attempt to hide her disgust. Men like him didn’t interest her at all—she could hardly feel anything other than contempt.

“Thank you, but I don’t want to drag you into my mess. After all, it’s not your fault…”

Lin Pingle sensed the atmosphere and once again allowed a self-mocking smile to surface. Even if Xiao Yufan had eased his embarrassment, what difference would it make? Could it really conceal his humiliation?

“That’s right. A piece of trash like you should know your place. If you can’t even keep your woman, how dare you challenge me?”

Though the man hated Xiao Yufan with a passion, he couldn’t do anything here—at the entrance of Huishui Corporation’s building, even if he were more audacious, he would still have to consider the consequences.

“In my eyes, you’re just trash too!”

Xiao Yufan gently ran his hand through Qing Luan’s silky hair. A woman’s elegance often reflected the taste of the man beside her. Compared to that woman, Qing Luan’s beauty was far superior. When it came to women, he had every reason to be proud.

“Let’s go, please…”

Sensing the intense fluctuation of the man beside her, the woman’s eyes showed a hint of pleading. She didn’t want things to escalate—she knew she had already wronged Lin Pingle enough and didn’t want to put him in a more awkward position.

“Someone who can only gain the upper hand through words is just seeking false superiority…”

With a cold snort, the man no longer bothered to argue with Xiao Yufan, knowing he would gain nothing from it. However, given his nature, he certainly wouldn’t let Xiao Yufan off the hook so easily.

“You’ll regret this day sooner or later. In three years, I’ll make Lin Pingle’s name a legend—one you can only look up to…”

Watching the woman’s retreating figure, Xiao Yufan smiled with a hint of amusement. In her, he seemed to see a reflection of Cheng Ying—a woman who abandoned love for wealth and luxury, not worth all of Lin Pingle’s devotion.

“Three years?” Even Lin Pingle shook his head bitterly. He took Xiao Yufan’s words merely as a pretense to restore his dignity.

“Can’t you see your own limitations before speaking and avoid tripping over your tongue?”

The man paused briefly, his expression one of utter disdain. He certainly didn’t believe Xiao Yufan had such strength, though for a moment, the latter’s imposing aura had startled him slightly.

His hand resting gently on the woman’s delicate waist, the couple slowly walked away, leaving behind a stunned Lin Pingle and a composed Xiao Yufan.

“Do you really think a woman like that deserves your sorrow?”

“There’s no question of worthiness. I just couldn’t let go for a while, but now it doesn’t matter anymore. I believe whatever belongs to me will never escape, and whatever doesn’t, no matter how hard I chase, will never be mine!”

Lin Pingle’s desolate gaze was filled with emptiness. He looked up at the sky, forcefully holding back the tears welling in his eyes. He didn’t want anyone to see his vulnerability.

“I’ve told you before, my words are never just jokes. In three years, I will make you a legend.”

Xiao Yufan patted Lin Pingle’s shoulder. He knew that although Lin Pingle acted as if it didn’t matter, it must have hurt deeply. He had experienced that feeling before—it was unforgettable and heart-wrenching.
