Chapter 17: Such a Female Ghost

It was already past eleven at night, nearly midnight. All the houses near Wang Yong’s home had turned off their lights, and most people had fallen asleep. The surroundings were pitch black, with only the distant streets bathed in the dim glow of streetlights. Occasionally, the chirping of insects broke the silence, but soon even those sounds ceased as a chilling breeze swept through.

Suddenly, the front door of Wang Yong’s house opened without a sound. A dark mist gathered at the entrance, forming a vague human shape that hovered without dispersing. Upstairs, Wang Yong was still fast asleep, deeply intoxicated and unlikely to wake anytime soon. Xiong Ying, on the other hand, had entered the best state for qi cultivation, breathing in the pure yin essence with complete focus and no guard.

In the adjacent room, Shui Miao sat cross-legged on the bed, unable to enter a state of cultivation.

Perhaps because he was especially excited about the copper box and eager to discover what it contained, his mind simply couldn’t calm down.

And without calmness, there could be no cultivation.

Time ticked by second by second, while the black shadow still stood motionless at the entrance of the first floor… It seemed to be waiting for something.

Unable to focus on his cultivation, Shui Miao gave up and lay on the bed, letting his mind wander over the events of the day.

About an hour later, drowsiness gradually overtook him, and his eyes instinctively closed. Just as he drifted off, a sudden sound of soft footsteps pierced his ears, instantly clearing his mind. Instinctively sensing danger, he tried to open his eyes, but fatigue held them shut.

The footsteps grew closer and clearer…

Meanwhile, Shui Miao’s heart pounded with rising tension and fear.

“How is this possible? Why is my mind so clear, yet I can’t wake up? Could it be that I’ve encountered a ghost?” At the thought of ghosts, Shui Miao immediately recalled the eerie wind at the Sun family villa, naturally linking his current situation to the vengeful spirit from that haunted place.

Suddenly, the bedroom door opened by itself…

Shui Miao had no idea what state he was in—how could he see the door? He hadn’t woken up or opened his eyes!

“I died so tragically!”

At that moment, a woman’s mournful scream suddenly echoed. Shui Miao’s heart jolted, a flash of white light appeared before his eyes, and he saw a young woman in her twenties standing at the doorway. Her face was delicate and refined, with red lips, white teeth, and bright, captivating eyes. Her long, flowing hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her white, flowing long dress made her look even more pure and beautiful.

She didn’t look like a ghost at all.

Seeing her, Shui Miao felt reassured instead of frightened: “Who are you? Why are you here so late at night? What do you want from me?”

“I am Shen Hui. I was murdered by Sun Jihong. You must help me take revenge. I want him to pay for his crimes with his blood.” The woman stood at the doorway, making no move to enter.

Her tone was firm, as if there was no room for negotiation—Shui Miao had no choice but to help her.

Who in their right mind makes demands like that?

Shui Miao felt confused and not only had no desire to help, but even wanted to scold her for her rude attitude.

But in the end, he decided to focus on protecting himself first.

“Are you a ghost?”

Some things had to be clarified. Shui Miao was stubborn, even when facing a ghost. He needed to understand the situation. He knew that fear alone wouldn’t solve anything—he had to face it bravely.

“No, I’m not a ghost! You think I’m your girlfriend to come visit you in the middle of the night like this?” The female ghost glared coldly at Shui Miao, paused, then continued, “The reason I came to you instead of anyone else is because our fates are similar, making communication easier. So I had no choice but to come to you. And stop asking questions—will you help me or not?”

This ghost Shen Hui was clearly impatient, speaking in a very aggressive tone, as if Shui Miao owed her something.

“…”

Shui Miao fell silent. It seemed he had really been haunted by a ghost tonight. Agreeing meant taking on her revenge; refusing meant she probably wouldn’t let him go easily.

Seeing Shui Miao’s silence, the female ghost Shen Hui suddenly sneered: “If you don’t help me, I’ll go harm your little sister Chenxiang.”

“You dare!”

At those words, Shui Miao immediately exploded in rage.

“Hmph! If you don’t help me, I’ll kill her and make her accompany me in the underworld!” The ghost Shen Hui was not to be outdone. After shouting a few words, her face suddenly twisted. Her eyes popped out, her tongue extended to her chest, and she looked terrifyingly grotesque. Stretching her hands forward, her fingers like hooks, she lunged straight at Shui Miao…

“Ahh!”

Shui Miao screamed in terror and suddenly woke up.

He quickly sat up in bed and turned on the bedside lamp. To his shock, the bedroom door was actually open…

So cold!

The room was icy, as if the air conditioning had been set to the lowest temperature.

“Damn that female ghost!”

Shui Miao was drenched in cold sweat. Worried about his grandfather, he rushed barefoot to the neighboring room, opened the door, turned on the light, and saw Wang Yong sitting up. His face was pitch black, covered in dark qi, like a poorly bleached African.

Xiong Ying was still in a state of cultivation.

What was going on? Was Wang Yong…

Shui Miao looked at Wang Yong in shock. Wang Yong slowly lifted his head, his eyes shrouded in black mist, looking eerily dark and strange.

“Hmph! Let’s see if you help me or not!” Wang Yong suddenly sneered, quickly got off the bed, and grabbed Xiong Ying’s neck!

“Grandpa…”

Shui Miao was stunned, never expecting this turn of events, and rushed to save his grandfather.

Wang Yong’s body was icy cold. As soon as Shui Miao touched him, he instinctively pulled back his hand in fear. But to save his grandfather, he reached out again to try to pry Wang Yong’s hands off. As he did, he saw the black mist on Wang Yong’s body quickly spreading to his own arm. Unfazed, Shui Miao opened his mouth and bit down on Wang Yong’s arm, silently chanting a spell, attempting to replicate the method he had used in the graveyard—to swallow the yin spirit alive!

Seeing this, Wang Yong’s face immediately showed extreme surprise.

For some unknown reason, Xiong Ying hadn’t opened his eyes the entire time, as if he were already dead.

A few seconds later, Shui Miao’s dantian began to stir, and a large amount of yin energy surged into his mouth…

Seeing this, Wang Yong suddenly pushed Shui Miao away, shoved Xiong Ying aside, and angrily pointed at Shui Miao, shouting: “Crazy man! Do you want to die?!”

Wang Yong stood with his hands on his hips, acting like an angry landlady scolding someone.

Shui Miao’s entire body was icy cold, unable to speak, his head throbbing with pain. He knew this was the backlash of the yin energy. Terrified, he quickly sat cross-legged to cultivate his energy, feeling as if he had fallen into an ice cave. If he couldn’t find a solution quickly, he might freeze to death.

“I’m so angry! Do you think your little cultivation skills are so impressive?”

Wang Yong stomped his foot, a grown man acting like a woman throwing a tantrum.

Suddenly, he rushed forward, pinned Shui Miao down, and kissed him directly on the lips…

“What the hell is happening here…?”

Shui Miao’s eyes widened in horror and despair. This was beyond disgusting!

This ghost Shen Hui was so disgusting—she actually stole his first kiss by possessing Wang Yong’s body!?

Aaaaaaah!!!

Shui Miao was overwhelmed with hysteria, wanting to die.

But immediately afterward, he clearly felt the yin energy in his body being sucked away, and all the discomfort vanished.

“Die!”

As soon as he regained strength, Shui Miao kicked Wang Yong hard. Wang Yong cried out in pain and fell to the ground. Before he could get up, Xiong Ying suddenly opened his eyes, flipped over, and mounted Wang Yong, pinching his philtrum point while shaking a small bell frantically…

In fact, Xiong Ying had heard the door open and stopped his cultivation immediately. However, he couldn’t exit his meditative state right away. When Wang Yong grabbed his neck, he felt the cold yin energy and realized the danger, so he held his breath and waited for the right moment to counterattack…

And now, the moment had come!

“Haha! Little ghost, I didn’t go after you, but you came to me willingly!” Xiong Ying was excited. After saying that, he began chanting: “Lin Bing Dou Zhe, Jie Zhen Lie Qian Xing, Tai Shang She Ling, Chao Ru Gu Hun, Gui Mei Yi Qie, Si Sheng Zhan An…”

“No! I want revenge!!”

Wang Yong suddenly roared, interrupting Xiong Ying’s incantation. With unknown strength, he suddenly pushed Xiong Ying away, sending him flying into the wall with a crash. The next moment, Wang Yong stood up straight, his face twisted in rage as he charged toward Shui Miao: “Will you help me take revenge or not!?”

Clearly, the female ghost Shen Hui had lost her patience.

“Okay, okay, okay! I promise, I’ll help you take revenge!”

Seeing this, Shui Miao didn’t dare hesitate and immediately agreed. If even his grandfather couldn’t defeat her, continuing to be stubborn and disrespectful would only be asking for death.
