Chapter 315: Defying Fate (Part 20)

“Old brother, are you sure you’re not joking with me?”

Shui Miao appeared solemn and completely serious.

“No way, no way! I would never joke about something like this!”

Yi Tianwen waved his hands repeatedly.

“Bro, are you sure you’re not joking with me?”

Shui Miao wore a serious expression, his demeanor turning earnest.

“No, no, I wouldn’t dare joke about something like this!”

Yi Tianwen repeatedly waved his hands in denial.

Frowning, Shui Miao pressed further, “Then where exactly did you get this information? You need to understand—if this is wrong, not only will your descendants fail to alter their fate against the heavens, but even my life could be on the line!” Going to the immortal realm to find deities, then sneaking into their backyard to carve birth dates on a stone… Shui Miao genuinely wondered if Yi Tianwen had lost his mind.

Damn, do I really look like a fool?

Shui Miao felt a tightness in his chest—this Yi Tianwen really dared to say anything!

“Ah, brother, you’ve got it all wrong!”

Yi Tianwen hurriedly explained, “I found out that the Southern Dipper Immortal has many Fate Manor Pavilions set up in the Ninth Heaven, all guarded by his disciples. He himself is in the distant immortal realm and doesn’t bother with these trivial matters. Also, the person who told me this is a true master—I begged him for a long time before he revealed it. He made me promise not to disclose his name, so I really can’t say!”

“Sorry, but there’s no way I can help with this. I can’t go to the immortal realm within the next ten years.” Shui Miao waved his hands repeatedly. Even if he could, he wouldn’t agree to such a thing—what kind of nonsense was this?

“Well, forget it then.”

Yi Tianwen didn’t want to push too hard and waved his hand slightly, a hint of disappointment in his eyes.

This Yi Tianwen held significant power and influence, making him someone not to be offended. Considering that his grandfather still needed to stay under Yi Tianwen’s care, Shui Miao shook his head in frustration and said gloomily, “I just don’t get it—isn’t this just about making your descendants like women, get married, and have children? Why not just find a way to change their mindset?”

“It won’t work. I’ve tried. It’s not a matter of mindset but fate. Even if I change his mindset and make him marry and have children, because his destiny doesn’t include descendants, any child he has would die prematurely. In the end, fate remains unchanged.” Yi Tianwen smiled faintly. “Forget it, let’s not dwell on it. Maybe it’s retribution for all the wrongs I’ve committed.”

The more he heard, the more absurd it sounded.

Shui Miao glanced at Yi Tianwen and asked for details, “Bro, how can you be so sure your descendants’ fate is like this?”

“I understand how you feel. I didn’t believe it at first either!” Yi Tianwen sighed softly. “There’s a master of fate in my Mystic Division who discerned this. He has innate wisdom and can see decades into the future. He’s highly experienced in the Mystic Division, and every word he’s said has come true.”

“Can I meet this person?”

Shui Miao licked his lips, eager to see this so-called master of fate.

“Of course, of course. I’ll take you to him right now. He’s in a villa nearby.”

Yi Tianwen immediately stood up and invited Shui Miao to the villa.

Shui Miao didn’t overthink it—he’d go see this master of fate first.

※※※

About five miles away, beside a large lake, stood a spacious villa with a classical charm. Dense trees surrounded the villa, giving off an air of mystery.

As Shui Miao looked at the villa, he channeled his immortal power to sense his surroundings but found that his spiritual awareness couldn’t penetrate the walls.

Inside the villa’s main gate, many young people in yellow robes were meditating.

Shui Miao stopped and focused his spiritual sense on one of the young men, discovering a plastic gun hidden on him. All of them wore tortoise-shell-like armor, making it impossible to read their thoughts.

“Brother, come on in and have a seat.”

Yi Tianwen smiled and came over to pull Shui Miao by the arm.

Seeing Yi Tianwen’s smile, Shui Miao suddenly felt something was off.

But he couldn’t quite put his finger on what it was.

Following Yi Tianwen into the villa, Shui Miao saw many people in yellow robes—old and young, men and women. Some were sitting, some standing, some lying down, some leaning sideways, and one was even hanging upside down from the ceiling…

“Are they all from the Mystic Division?”

Shui Miao asked softly. The people he’d seen at the base earlier didn’t seem as mysterious as these.

Yi Tianwen smiled slightly and led Shui Miao to an elevator. “Yes, I’ll introduce you later. Let’s go find Old Xu first.”

The villa had only two floors but was equipped with an elevator. When Shui Miao stepped inside, he saw a long row of numbers and was surprised to discover that the villa extended nine levels underground!

Yi Tianwen pressed the button for the ninth underground floor, turned to Shui Miao with a smile, and said they’d arrive soon.

Shui Miao tried to focus his spiritual sense but suddenly heard a buzzing in his ears, making it impossible to concentrate.

“……”

All these anomalies put Shui Miao on high alert. Could it be that Yi Tianwen had deliberately said those things to lure him here?

Uh… something really seemed off!

A centuries-old ghost, all for the sake of a homosexual descendant, asking him to help sneak into the Southern Dipper Immortal’s backyard… The more he thought about it, the more ridiculous it sounded.

Dammit!

Whatever the case, he needed to be prepared!

His mind racing, Shui Miao channeled all his immortal power, staying highly vigilant and ready to act at any moment.

Using his spiritual sense, he suddenly realized the elevator wasn’t made of metal… which meant if Yi Tianwen trapped him here, he might not be able to escape.

While he had no intention of harming others, he couldn’t afford to let his guard down.

Wanting to test Yi Tianwen, Shui Miao quickly stepped forward and pressed the button for the fifth underground floor. The elevator happened to be passing that level and stopped immediately. The doors opened, revealing a wall opposite with an orange sign bearing five large characters: Human Experimentation Lab.

“What are you doing?!”

Yi Tianwen’s expression suddenly changed, his face tense with nervousness.

So there was something fishy after all. Shui Miao stepped out directly. “Nothing, I just suddenly felt like taking a look. Is that not allowed?”

Yi Tianwen rushed to pull Shui Miao’s arm but was too slow as Shui Miao dodged.

Yi Tianwen followed him out, one hand blocking the elevator door to prevent it from closing while the other grabbed Shui Miao’s arm. “Brother, this is a national secret lab. You can’t just barge in. Hurry up and leave with me!”

“What’s there to fear? You’re the boss here.”

Damn, he’s definitely trying to set me up. We could’ve talked anywhere—why did we have to come underground? Dammit, I should’ve made him bring that master of fate out instead. Convinced that Yi Tianwen had ill intentions, Shui Miao pretended to be relaxed and playful, wearing a smile as he broke free from Yi Tianwen’s grip. He took a few steps forward, glancing down the long corridor lined with orange doors and another elevator nearby.

Yi Tianwen still blocked the elevator door, urgently calling out, “Brother, this lab isn’t under my jurisdiction. Let’s leave quickly. There’s really nothing to see here. If the patrol soldiers find us, they’ll shoot on sight!”

“Don’t scare me. How serious could it be?”

Shui Miao immediately headed to the other elevator, opened the door, stepped inside, and pressed the button for the first floor.

Hearing the sound of the elevator door, Yi Tianwen rushed out and saw the elevator ascending. He quickly spoke into a walkie-talkie disguised as a button on his sleeve, “The situation has changed. Abort the underground team’s operation. Ground team, execute Plan B.”

“What? Do I look that much like a fool to you?”

Shui Miao felt a sense of depression; Yi Tianwen really dared to say anything!

“Hey! Brother, you misunderstood a bit!”

Yi Tianwen hurried to explain, “I found out that the Old Man of the South Pole has many celestial fate offices located in the Ninth Heaven. He has his disciples guarding them while he resides deep within the distant Immortal Realm, never concerning himself with such trivial matters. Also, the person who told me all this was a true expert. I begged him for a long time before he finally revealed it to me. He forbade me from disclosing his name, so I really can’t say anything!”

“There’s no way I can help with something like this; I can’t even go to the Immortal Realm within the next ten years.” Shui Miao waved his hands again. Even if he could go, he couldn’t possibly agree to something so absurd. What kind of nonsense was this?

“Well then, I guess that’s it.”

Yi Tianwen didn’t want to force anyone, slightly disappointed as he waved his hand.

Yi Tianwen wielded great power and influence, not someone easily offended. Considering his grandfather still needed to stay here, Shui Miao hesitated, shook his head in frustration, and said, “I just don’t get it. Isn’t this just about making your descendant like women, marry, and have kids? Can’t you just change his mind directly?”

“No, it won’t work. I’ve tried. It’s not about changing his mindset—it’s about fate. Even if we change his mind, get him married, and have children, because his destiny lacks offspring, any child he raises will die young. In the end, his fate remains unchanged.” Yi Tianwen smiled faintly, “Forget it, forget it. Maybe I’ve committed too many sins, and this is my retribution.”

The more Shui Miao listened, the more bizarre it sounded.

Looking at Yi Tianwen, Shui Miao asked for more details, “Old brother, how can you be so certain about your descendant’s fate?”

“I understand how you feel. I didn’t believe it at first either!” Yi Tianwen sighed lightly, “Among the Xuan Group, there is a master of fate who discovered this. He was born with divine sight, able to see decades into the future. He’s highly respected within the Xuan Group, and every word he has spoken has come true.”

“Can I meet this person?”

Shui Miao licked his lips, eager to see this so-called master of fate.

“Of course, absolutely! I’ll take you there now. He’s staying in a villa nearby.”

Yi Tianwen immediately stood up and invited Shui Miao to go together.

Shui Miao didn’t think much and decided to go see this master of fate first.

※※※

About ten miles away, beside a large lake, stood a grand villa with an ancient appearance. Outside, dense trees surrounded it, exuding a mysterious aura.

As he approached the villa, Shui Miao immediately activated his immortal powers to sense his surroundings, only to discover his spiritual perception couldn’t penetrate the walls.

Inside the villa gates, many young men in yellow robes were meditating.

Shui Miao stopped and casually looked at one of the youths, focusing his spiritual awareness, only to discover the youth had a plastic gun hidden on him. Moreover, all of them wore armor-like protective gear made from turtle shells, preventing Shui Miao from sensing their inner thoughts.

“Little brother, come on in.”

Yi Tianwen smiled and pulled Shui Miao’s arm.

Seeing Yi Tianwen’s smile, Shui Miao suddenly felt something was off.

But he couldn’t quite figure out exactly what.

Following Yi Tianwen into the villa, Shui Miao saw many people wearing yellow robes. They varied in age and gender, some sitting, some standing, some lying down, some leaning sideways, and one even hanging upside down from the ceiling.

“These are all members of the Xuan Group?”

Shui Miao couldn’t help but whisper. The people he had seen at the base seemed less mysterious than these individuals.

Yi Tianwen smiled slightly and led Shui Miao to the elevator, “Yes, I’ll introduce them to you later. Let’s find Old Xu first.”

This villa only had two floors, yet it still had an elevator.

As Shui Miao entered the elevator, he was immediately amazed to see a row of numbers on the panel. To his surprise, the villa extended nine floors underground!

Yi Tianwen pressed the button for the ninth basement level, then turned back with a slight smile, saying they would arrive shortly.

Shui Miao spread his spiritual senses, but suddenly heard a buzzing sound in his ears, preventing him from concentrating.

“…”

All these abnormalities made Shui Miao cautious. Could it be that Yi Tianwen had deliberately told him all this to lure him here?

Hmm… There really might be something wrong!

An old ghost centuries old, worrying over his homosexual descendant, asking someone to sneak into the Old Man of the South Pole’s backyard… This whole thing sounded utterly ridiculous.

Damn!

Whatever the case, better safe than sorry!

Shui Miao’s mind raced as he quickly activated his immortal powers, fully alert and ready for combat at any moment.

As he focused his spiritual senses, Shui Miao suddenly realized the elevator wasn’t made of metal… Meaning, if Yi Tianwen trapped him inside now, he might not be able to escape.

“One must not harbor ill intentions, but must be prepared for others’ treachery.”

Wanting to test Yi Tianwen, Shui Miao quickly stepped forward and pressed the button for the fifth basement level. The elevator stopped there, the doors opened, and Shui Miao saw a wall directly opposite. On the wall hung an orange sign with five large characters: Human Laboratory.

“What are you doing!?”

Yi Tianwen suddenly changed expression, clearly very nervous.

Just as suspected, Shui Miao walked out directly, “Nothing, I just suddenly felt like visiting. Is that not allowed?”

Yi Tianwen rushed forward to grab Shui Miao’s arm but was dodged in time.

Yi Tianwen followed him out, one hand blocking the elevator door to prevent it from closing, the other grabbing Shui Miao’s arm anxiously, “Little brother, this is a national secret laboratory. Unauthorized entry is strictly prohibited. Hurry up and come back with me!”

“What’s there to be afraid of? You’re the boss here.”

Damn it, he definitely wants to set me up. Why else would he insist on bringing me down here? If he wanted to talk, couldn’t we do it anywhere else? Shui Miao was convinced Yi Tianwen had ill intentions but pretended to be relaxed, maintaining a playful smile on his face. He yanked his arm free from Yi Tianwen’s grip and took a few steps forward, glancing down the corridor. He noticed another elevator nearby and many orange doors lining both sides of the long hallway.

Yi Tianwen still stood blocking the elevator doors, urgently urging, “Little brother, this laboratory isn’t under my jurisdiction. We must leave immediately. There’s truly nothing worth seeing here. If the patrolling soldiers discover us, they will shoot to kill!”

“Don’t try to scare me. How serious could it be?”

Shui Miao immediately walked toward the other elevator, opened the door, quickly entered, and pressed the button for the first floor.

Hearing the elevator door close, Yi Tianwen rushed out and saw the elevator ascending. Immediately, he spoke into a hidden button on his sleeve disguised as a walkie-talkie, “Situation changed. Underground operation terminated. Surface team, execute Plan B.”
