Chapter 356: Just That Awesome

“What…?”

Qin Ke’er, the pretty young girl, was instantly stunned.

Shui Miao nodded. “Alright then, since you didn’t hear clearly, I’ll repeat it…”

“Whoosh!”

Before Shui Miao could speak again, Qin Ke’er rushed into the store.

“There’s no need to look. I already told you it’s a hidden camera—how could you possibly find it easily? Even if you did find it, it wouldn’t matter because the video has already been uploaded to my cloud storage. So, I suggest you change your approach—be gentler, nicer, and more respectful. I’m actually quite easygoing.”

Ignoring Shui Miao’s words, Qin Ke’er began searching the store thoroughly.

This time, she seemed to have learned her lesson.

Seeing Qin Ke’er’s nervous expression, Shui Miao felt a bit guilty about teasing her. But recalling how spoiled and temperamental Qin Ke’er was, and how she might even try to falsely accuse him of something, Shui Miao decided to play a small trick—letting her catch a glimpse of a faint red light that looked like a camera’s indicator.

“There really is a camera!”

Qin Ke’er was shocked. Her mind racing, she turned to Shui Miao and asked, “What exactly do you want?”

“It’s not about what I want, it’s about what you want. I didn’t provoke you; you were the one who came looking for trouble. Look, I’m a pretty tolerant person—I don’t like arguing with women. Just promise me you won’t bother me again, and I’ll pretend this whole thing never happened. I’ll delete the video at an appropriate time.”

“No way! You have to delete it in front of me right now.”

To Shui Miao’s surprise, Qin Ke’er was still being stubborn and aggressive.

“You’re so stupid! You’re already grown up—why don’t you use your brain? Right now, you’re the one who attempted to assault me, not the other way around. Please get your facts straight!” Shui Miao’s tone turned serious and loud. “Qin Ke’er, I’m done arguing with you. You should calm down. I’ve already offered you way more than you deserve, so you should be grateful. Now you’re still trying to bargain? Do you really think you’re some kind of queen? If you keep this up, I’m calling the police right now.”

Shui Miao took out his phone, pretending to dial.

Panicked, Qin Ke’er grabbed his hand, her face full of fear, pleading softly, “No, no! I know I was wrong, okay?”

“Hmph! That’s more like it.”

Shui Miao put his phone away, pointed at the banyan tree, and said, “I don’t want much from you—just buy me a new reclining chair.”

“Okay, no problem! I know a furniture store with really high-end recliners. I’ll go buy one right now!”

Qin Ke’er had completely backed down. She gave Shui Miao a couple of sweet, apologetic words and hurried off to buy the chair.

Shui Miao shook his head in disbelief. This woman could change her attitude fast. If he hadn’t been quick-witted, he might have actually been framed by her today! If she was already this difficult at such a young age, who knows what she’d be like when she grew up?

Shui Miao was feeling bored when a small car pulled up.

A slightly overweight man in his mid-forties, briefcase in hand, got out of the car. He looked serious as he hurried toward Zhang the Blind Man’s shop.

Since there was nothing better to do, Shui Miao decided to go check out what the man wanted.

After listening in for a while, Shui Miao learned that the man was a village official from a nearby village—his name was Liu Kaohui. He had come in a rush because his family had recently experienced several strange and ominous incidents, and he had no choice but to come ask Zhang the Blind Man for help in figuring out what evil spirit was causing the trouble.

After performing a few calculations with his fingers, Zhang the Blind Man sighed and shook his head. “I can’t help you with this. You know in your heart what you’ve done.”

Hearing this, Liu Kaohui was stunned. “Master Zhang, how can you say you can’t help me? Here, a small token of my appreciation—please accept it.” He was a skilled flatterer, quickly pulling out a stack of cash and handing five bills to Zhang.

Normally, a reading from a blind fortune teller would cost twenty or fifty yuan at most.

But now Liu Kaohui had given five hundred, a generous offer.

Zhang took the five hundred without hesitation, but continued to click his tongue and shake his head. “Old Liu, we’ve known each other for a long time. If this wasn’t a really difficult case, I wouldn’t hesitate to help. The problem is, the person you’ve wronged is extremely ruthless—they want to see you dead.”

Inwardly amused, Shui Miao thought, “This Zhang really knows how to play the game. He just wants more money.”

Sure enough, upon hearing this, Liu Kaohui grew even more anxious.

His eyes darting, Liu noticed how Zhang’s hand trembled slightly while holding the money. Immediately, he took out another five hundred and placed it in Zhang’s palm. “Master Zhang, I came here especially to beg for your help. You’re a great master of the world—please help me out. I’ll reward you handsomely once this is resolved!”

“Well then, I suppose I can’t refuse…”

With a grin, Zhang stuffed the money into his pocket. After patting it once, he finally spoke in a solemn tone. “You, as a village official, have had it both easy and hard. In recent years, with the national collective farm project and land development, you’ve made quite a bit of money. But you shouldn’t have taken advantage of those few poor families. Even a desperate dog will jump over a wall—let alone a human being.”

“Master, please get to the point. Who exactly is trying to kill me?”

Liu Kaohui felt a surge of anger. He wasn’t a kind man—if he found out who was behind this, he would make sure to crush them. These days, village officials were like kings—untouchable by higher-ups and unchallenged by the villagers. They indulged in corruption and bribery, their pockets full and their egos swollen. They treated their villages like their own private kingdoms.

“I can’t tell you who it is, but I can say that you wronged them first. If you don’t apologize and treat them kindly, they might take extreme measures. So don’t take this lightly!” Thanks to Shui Miao’s influence, Zhang spoke more uprightly than usual. In the past, he would have told Liu exactly who was against him.

“I have a rough idea who it is—the hooligans from that village. I’ll deal with them myself. Damn it, they dare to plot against me? I’ll kill them first!”

Liu Kaohui stormed off in anger.

“Corrupt official!”

As Liu passed by him, Shui Miao suddenly muttered coldly.

Liu’s head buzzed with rage. He stopped immediately, turned around, and pointed at Shui Miao, shouting arrogantly, “Kid, was that you who called me a corrupt official?”

“You dare point your finger at me?”

Shui Miao blinked, looking at Liu with a calm expression and asking softly.

“Damn you, calling me a corrupt official! I’ll beat you to death!”

Liu, at his most arrogant, suddenly grabbed Shui Miao by the neck and swung a punch straight at his face.

“Smack!”

Before anyone could react, Shui Miao suddenly kicked Liu in the stomach, sending him flying three or four meters backward, crashing into his car and denting the door.

Liu clutched his stomach in intense pain, unable to get up.

Shui Miao smiled faintly, approached Liu, squatted beside him, slapped him once, and said coldly, “Corrupt official, you haven’t been beaten in a long time, huh? How does it feel? Want me to give you a few more?”

Shui Miao slapped Liu a couple more times.

Liu covered his stomach with one hand and his head with the other, his face twisted in pain and humiliation.

“Almost forgot to tell you—this shop is mine. I’m a top-tier feng shui master. I know all kinds of spells and black magic. I have a straightforward personality—I hate bullies and oppressors the most. You just got lucky today. This isn’t over. You were the one who touched me first, so that kick was just a small gift. But don’t think this is the end. My gifts usually come in pairs. Soon, you’ll feel unbearable pain in your stomach. No hospital will be able to cure it—it’s a curse I’ve placed on you. Unless you resign from your position as village official and turn yourself in to the authorities, confessing all your misdeeds, you won’t live to see tomorrow morning.”

Shui Miao immediately channeled a surge of spiritual energy into Liu’s abdomen.

Liu felt a cold, slithering sensation inside his stomach and turned pale with fear.

Shui Miao stood up and walked away. “Hurry up and surrender. Time’s not on your side.”

Gradually, the pain in his stomach eased, but the icy sensation remained.

Terrified, Liu quickly got into his car and sped toward the hospital.

“You bastard! Driving so fast—you trying to get reborn or something?”

At an intersection, Qin Ke’er, accompanied by two workers carrying an expensive reclining chair, nearly got hit by Liu’s car.

At that moment, Grandpa Qin Feng had withdrawn the money and arrived by car as well.

“Ke’er, what are you doing?”

Qin Feng opened the car window, looking at his granddaughter who was sweating from running, puzzled.

Qin Ke’er smiled, her face slightly flushed. “Grandpa, I’ve thought it through. This young man is actually quite capable. Instead of fighting with him, we should befriend him—it’ll be easier to talk in the future. So, I bought him a new reclining chair to make peace.”

“Ke’er, that doesn’t sound like you.”

Qin Feng knew his granddaughter well—spoiled and selfish, never giving gifts to family. Now, she had bought such an expensive recliner for a stranger? It must have cost at least ten thousand yuan! Could it be that the little girl had a crush on him?

“Hehe, people change.”

Though she said this, Qin Ke’er was secretly cursing Shui Miao in her heart.

Standing under the banyan tree, Shui Miao calmly watched as Qin Ke’er had the recliner set up. He accepted the black plastic bag handed to him by Qin Feng—it contained one hundred thousand yuan in cash. Then, he asked Qin Feng to have the broken pieces of the old recliner loaded into the car to be taken away. However, he made no move to return the golden Buddha statue to Qin Feng.

“What do you mean by this?”

Qin Feng sensed something was off and pulled Shui Miao aside, whispering in confusion.

“What do you mean, ‘what do I mean’?” Shui Miao rubbed his nose and grinned mischievously. “Oh, I get it—you want the golden Buddha back, right?”
