Chapter 490: Possessed by a Cat’s Spirit

The five elements of Yin and Yang, and the talismans that manipulate these spiritual energies—Shui Miao still remembered them clearly.

Two police officers were assigned to guard Long Feng, forbidding anyone from approaching him.

Yet while they dared to stop everyone else, they simply didn’t dare block Lin Xue.

Coincidentally, there were some yellow papers in the police station’s storage room, left behind by the old officer Liu. No one had bothered to clean them up, so Lin Xue took them out and handed them to Shui Miao.

As Lin Xue approached the entrance of the surveillance room, Officers Xiao Zhang and Xiao Li stepped forward with expressions of hesitation.

Before the two could speak, Lin Xue raised her hand and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll take full responsibility today. I guarantee you won’t get into any trouble. Just help me bring him to the activity room.”

The activity room was spacious, and Shui Miao was drawing talismans on a ping-pong table.

Handcuffed and having eaten nothing all day, Long Feng looked listless and weak. Upon seeing Lin Xue, however, he immediately tensed up and nervously said, “Don’t you dare do anything reckless! I need to make a phone call. I’m an aide to Vice Mayor He!”

“Shut up!” Lin Xue suddenly snapped, silencing Long Feng.

“Make him sit over there…”

Shui Miao raised his hand and pointed toward the center of the activity room.

The two officers wore expressions of disdain toward Shui Miao’s command.

Lin Xue shot them a glare, and their attitudes quickly changed.

Shui Miao picked up a small, blank yellow paper and held it in front of Long Feng for him to see. “Do you recognize these?”

Long Feng blinked. “What do you mean? You think you can fool me with some yellow paper?”

“Blank yellow paper? Hehe, judging by your reaction, I guess you don’t recognize it.” Shui Miao smiled slightly and stuck one of the talismans—designed to enhance fire-element energy—onto Long Feng’s forehead. “You dare boast about being the heir to a master Feng Shui practitioner? Today, I’ll show you what a real Feng Shui master looks like.”

“What are you trying to do?”

Long Feng couldn’t help but feel nervous.

Shui Miao looked at Long Feng and then stuck four more yellow papers onto his forehead.

These talismans had been drawn by Shui Miao, channeling the tiny bit of spiritual energy he possessed. To ordinary people, they looked like nothing more than plain yellow paper, but those with spiritual insight could sense the energy radiating from them.

Long Feng blinked again, about to speak, when he suddenly felt something strange in his head—warmth, growing steadily more intense.

“What did you do to me?”

He grew even more alarmed.

Shui Miao shook his head and sighed lightly. “You really disappoint me. I thought you might actually have some real skills, but it seems you’re just a fraud. That Nine-Cat Curse Formation—you must have stolen it from someone else, right?”

“What? How… How did you find out?”

Long Feng froze.

“No secret can withstand scrutiny, especially not when you’re so arrogant and talk too much. You practically handed me the clues. If I couldn’t figure it out, I’d be pretty useless, wouldn’t I?” Shui Miao turned around, picked up five more yellow papers from the ping-pong table, and walked back to Long Feng, speaking casually. “Look at your face—it’s already flushed. I’ve redirected all your Yang energy and heat to your head. Now, I’m going to stick these talismans—designed to channel Yin energy—on the lower parts of your body. The earthly Yin energy will seep into you and gradually push all your Yang energy out of your head. Of course, as you claimed earlier, if you’re truly skilled, you should be able to dissolve the formation easily. I’ll give you the chance to try.”

As he spoke, Shui Miao placed one talisman on each of Long Feng’s feet, one on his lower abdomen, one on his back, and one on his chest.

After finishing, Shui Miao opened the window and walked back to the ping-pong table, suddenly smirking. “Oh, I almost forgot to mention—right now is midnight, the time when Yin energy is strongest and spirits are most active. You’ve been possessed by insects before, but I bet you’ve never been possessed by a ghost, have you?”

At these words, even the two officers grew tense, for indeed, Long Feng’s face had started to redden.

Lin Xue, on the other hand, looked excited.

Long Feng swallowed hard, sensing the temperature shift in his body. Soon, he felt himself growing colder and colder, shivering involuntarily.

“Kid, what kind of trick is this?” Long Feng’s face flushed even redder, his anxiety rising.

Shui Miao stepped forward, removed the four talismans from Long Feng’s forehead, and calmly said, “No trick at all. I just wanted to test your real abilities and see how much nonsense you’ve been feeding us. If you don’t come clean, I’ll remove this last talisman that enhances the fire energy in your body.”

“I… I understand!”

The incantations of Yin, Yang, and the Five Elements that channeled these spiritual energies were still firmly etched in Shui Miao’s memory.

Two police officers were tasked with guarding Long Feng, ensuring no one approached him.

Yet, while they dared to stop anyone else, they dared not obstruct Lin Xue.

Coincidentally, the police station’s storage room had some yellow paper, left behind by Old Liu some time ago. A few sheets had been forgotten and never cleaned up, so Lin Xue took them and handed them to Shui Miao.

When Lin Xue arrived at the door of the monitoring room, Officers Zhang and Li greeted her with uneasy expressions.

Before they could speak, Lin Xue raised her hand and said, “Don’t worry, I take full responsibility for today. I guarantee you won’t be implicated. Help me bring him to the activity room.”

The activity room was spacious, and Shui Miao was already drawing symbols on a ping-pong table.

Long Feng, handcuffed and without food, was listless from hunger. The moment he saw Lin Xue, he grew tense and fearfully stammered, “Don’t you dare mess with me! I want to make a call! I’m Vice Mayor He’s man—”

“Shut up!” Lin Xue’s cold shout cut him off, silencing Long Feng.

“Have him sit here…” Shui Miao raised a hand, pointing toward the center of the activity room.

The two officers wore expressions of disdain at Shui Miao’s command.

But with one sharp glare from Lin Xue, they quickly sprang into action.

Shui Miao brought small blank yellow papers before Long Feng, showing them to him one by one. “Do you recognize these?”

Long Feng blinked. “What’s this? Trying to fool me with a few sheets of yellow paper?”

“Blank yellow paper? Heh, judging by your reaction, I take it you don’t recognize them.” Shui Miao smiled faintly and stuck a talisman designed to enhance fire-element spiritual energy onto Long Feng’s forehead. “And you had the nerve to boast about being the heir of some golden feng shui master? Today, I’ll show you what a real feng shui master looks like.”

“What are you trying to do?” Long Feng grew increasingly nervous.

Shui Miao studied him for a moment, then placed four more yellow papers on his forehead.

These papers were imbued with the faint spiritual energy Shui Miao had mustered through intense focus. To an ordinary person, they looked no different from regular yellow paper, but those with spiritual insight could sense the shifting energies emanating from them.

Long Feng blinked, about to speak, when he suddenly felt something strange in his head—a growing warmth that quickly intensified.

“What… what did you do to me?” he stammered, fear creeping into his voice.

Shui Miao shook his head and sighed softly. “You’ve disappointed me. I thought you might have some real skill, but it turns out you’re just a fraud. That Nine Cats Resentment Array—you must have stolen that knowledge from somewhere, right?”

“What? How… how did you find out?” Long Feng was stunned.

“Nothing can withstand scrutiny, especially when you’re so arrogant and talkative. You practically handed me the clues. If I still couldn’t figure it out, wouldn’t that make me useless?” Shui Miao turned, picked up five more yellow papers from the ping-pong table, and approached Long Feng casually. “Look, your face is already red. I’ve redirected all the Yang energy and heat in your body to your head. Now, I’m going to place these talismans, which channel Yin energy, below your neck. They’ll draw earthly Yin energy into your body, slowly pushing it upward until all the Yang energy is forced out. Of course, as you claimed earlier, you’re highly skilled and can easily break such arrays. I’ll give you the chance to prove it.”

As he spoke, Shui Miao placed one talisman on each of Long Feng’s feet, one on his lower dantian (energy center), one on his back, and one on his chest.

After applying them, Shui Miao opened the window, turned, and walked back to the ping-pong table. Suddenly, he raised an eyebrow. “Ah, I almost forgot to remind you—it’s midnight now, when Yin energy is strongest and unclean entities are most active. You’ve been infested with insects, but I doubt you’ve ever been possessed by ghosts, have you?”

Hearing this, the two officers grew nervous—Long Feng’s face had indeed been gradually turning red.

Lin Xue, on the other hand, was thrilled.

Long Feng swallowed hard, sensing the changes in his body’s temperature. Gradually, he felt himself growing colder and colder, until he was shivering uncontrollably.

“Kid, what kind of trick is this?” Long Feng’s face flushed redder, his anxiety mounting.

Shui Miao stepped forward, calmly removing the four yellow papers from Long Feng’s forehead. “No trick. I just wanted to see how skilled you really are and how much of what you told us was nonsense. If you refuse to come clean, I’ll have to remove this last talisman boosting the fire energy inside you.”

“I… I get it now!” Long Feng’s eyes suddenly lit up with excitement. “Your people must have gone to my room and gotten infested by those gu insects! You can’t cure them, so you’re playing mind games with me, trying to force me to hand over the antidote, right?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

With that, Shui Miao removed the last yellow paper from Long Feng’s forehead and stepped back.

Strangely, the moment the paper was removed, several gusts of wind blew in from the window into the activity room. These winds swirled around Long Feng, picking up scraps of garbage from the floor and circling him endlessly…

The two male officers, terrified, backed away repeatedly.

Lin Xue watched with wide, excited eyes.

They’d actually managed to summon ghosts! Shui Miao, however, was startled and narrowed his eyes to observe carefully.

One, two, three…

The ghostly winds multiplied.

Long Feng suddenly couldn’t hold back a scream. “I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything! Just let me go! I’m willing to confess!”

But he was too late.

Streams of ghostly wind slipped into his pant legs, bulging and shifting under the fabric as though countless small cats were crawling inside.

“Ah! I know—these are the souls of those cats!”

In a flash of insight, Shui Miao guessed the origin of these ghostly winds.

To save him, Shui Miao rushed over and stuck the fire-enhancing talisman back onto Long Feng’s forehead, tearing off all the Yin-energy amplifying yellow papers.

But it seemed he was too late.

The winds that had slipped into Long Feng’s pant legs vanished, and his body began to thrash uncontrollably.

“Help! Save me! There’s something on me! Help, I swear I’ll confess! Ah! Aah—!”

Long Feng’s hands were cuffed behind his back, and his feet were shackled. Suddenly, his arms straightened and bent backward unnaturally, as if trying to twist around from behind his head.

In such a state, his shoulders would dislocate.

“This is bad…”

A chill ran down Shui Miao’s spine as he rushed toward Long Feng. But just then, Long Feng let out a blood-curdling scream—his arms dislocated with a sickening crack, actually managing to twist forward from behind his head.

The yellow papers on his forehead all fell to the ground.

Long Feng’s complexion rapidly shifted from red to black, then settled into a deathly stillness and gloom.

“Meow!”

Under everyone’s gaze, Long Feng let out an eerie, unmistakable cry—a cat’s meow.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Shui Miao grabbed the last talisman from Long Feng’s forehead and stepped back.

Strange as it seemed, the moment the talisman was removed, several gusts of wind blew in through the window, swirling around Long Feng and picking up the trash on the floor.

Seeing this, the two male officers instinctively stepped back in fear.

Lin Xue, however, was wide-eyed with excitement.

Could it actually be working? Could spirits really be summoned? Shui Miao was startled and narrowed his eyes, observing carefully.

One… two… three…

More and more ghostly winds appeared.

Suddenly, Long Feng screamed, “I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything! Just stop! I’ll confess anything!”

But it was already too late.

The ghostly winds slipped into his pant legs, creating bulges as if many small cats were crawling inside.

“I know! These are the souls of the cats!”

Suddenly, it clicked in Shui Miao’s mind—he figured out where these ghostly winds were coming from.

In a rush to save Long Feng, Shui Miao quickly ran over and stuck the fire-element talisman back on Long Feng’s head, then tore off all the Yin-enhancing talismans.

But it seemed he was too late.

The winds inside Long Feng’s pants vanished, and his body began to move uncontrollably.

“Help! Help me! Something’s inside me! Save me! I swear I’ll confess! Ah! Aaaaaah!”

Long Feng’s hands were cuffed behind his back, and his feet were bound too. Suddenly, his arms straightened and began bending backward, as if trying to come around from behind his head.

Under such force, his arms would surely dislocate.

“Oh no…”

Shui Miao’s heart sank, and he rushed toward Long Feng. But just then, Long Feng let out a pig-like scream. With a loud crack, both arms dislocated and twisted around to his back—actually flipping over his head.

The talismans on his forehead fell to the ground.

Long Feng’s face rapidly changed—turning from red to black—and he suddenly fell eerily silent, his expression darkening.

“Mew…”

Under everyone’s horrified gaze, Long Feng let out an eerie cat’s meow.
