“Now, what’s the use of me just thinking wildly?” Han Li glanced at the earthfire pool and replied with a bitter smile.
“It’s good that you understand the severity,” Feng Xi said, though a faint sneer appeared on his face, clearly not believing Han Li’s insincere words.
Han Li maintained his pained expression but inwardly cursed, “Old monster.” He then walked to a corner of the formation and sat cross-legged.
Only after witnessing Han Li obediently take his designated spot did Feng Xi nod in satisfaction. Turning to the Venomous Flood Dragon and the Turtle Demon, he said politely, “Brothers, please enter the formation and prepare as well.”
Hearing this, the Venomous Flood Dragon and the Turtle Demon stepped forward without objection, entering the formation and taking their positions at the well-memorized formation eyes.
Feng Xi chuckled lightly and patted the storage pouch at his waist. The pouch flew out on its own, drifting leisurely above the earthfire pool. With its opening turned downward, a stream of radiant light shot out. Within the light, a small cluster of silver glow suddenly appeared, growing from small to large in the blink of an eye, transforming into a pair of phosphorescent bone wings about ten feet in size.
One of the wings was missing the upper tip, while the other was tattered and incomplete. Though they looked utterly unsightly at first glance, the remnants of the bones shimmered with a silvery light and emitted an immense pressure, making one feel solemn in their presence.
“So these are the Thunder Roc’s wings! Though badly damaged, they indeed look extraordinary. Truly worthy of being called a legendary wasteland bird!” The Venomous Flood Dragon gazed at the bone wings, clicking his tongue in astonishment.
“Naturally! This Thunder Roc didn’t die of old age. Its bones are so damaged—it must have been trapped and surrounded in its burial place before falling. Otherwise, with the Thunder Roc’s near-peerless speed and its late shapeshifting cultivation, even if it couldn’t win, it could have at least escaped.” Feng Xi stared unblinkingly at the wings, his face gradually revealing a fanatical expression.
At this moment, Han Li also watched the Thunder Roc bone wings with a look of astonishment.
“Let’s begin. Who knows how many months it will take to refine these things?” The Turtle Demon, however, seemed uninterested in the bone wings. After a moment, he grew unusually impatient and urged them on.
Hearing this, Feng Xi was taken aback for a moment. But then, as if remembering something, he chuckled softly. “Ah! I almost forgot. Brother Gui has not yet passed a century since his shapeshifting tribulation, so he naturally feels uncomfortable around thunder-attribute objects. Let’s not delay then. Let’s cast the spell together!”
The Venomous Flood Dragon naturally had no objections.
The three of them began chanting in a low, incomprehensible language. Gradually, an astonishing demonic aura emanated from their bodies, accompanied by white, blue, and yellow glows.
Whether it was the demonic aura activating the formation or some other method employed by the three, the formation began to operate with a slight tremor. Over a dozen mid-grade spirit stones embedded around it started emitting dazzling lights one after another.
Han Li felt somewhat uneasy and glanced around.
Just then, Feng Xi suddenly let out a low shout, clasped his hands together, and then separated them, shooting two arm-thick white beams of light into the formation beneath his feet. A humming sound echoed as the ground trembled slightly. The earthfire pool at the center of the formation began to churn with waves of fire.
With a *whoosh*, a head-sized fireball shot out from the pool, heading straight for the bone wings floating above. A series of cracking sounds followed as extremely scorching crimson flames enveloped the wings.
Seeing this, the Venomous Flood Dragon and the Turtle Demon exchanged a glance before raising their hands simultaneously. Dense clusters of blue and yellow light threads shot from their palms, piercing through the flames and wrapping around the bone wings, beginning to interweave, glow, and reshape.
In a short while, relying solely on these spirit threads, they restored the broken wings to their complete form.
Just as Han Li was marveling at the spectacle, Feng Xi’s eyes flashed with a strange light. He formed a hand seal, his fingers rapidly flicking out.
Dozens of thumb-sized white light spheres shot out, landing accurately on the bone wings. Immediately, sharp thunderclaps erupted within the flames. The newly repaired wings ejected countless tiny silver arcs of electricity. These slender, gleaming arcs quickly merged into the blue and yellow spirit threads.
The spirit threads, after absorbing the arcs, glowed brilliantly with silver light, intermingling and instantly turning silvery-white.
Witnessing this, Feng Xi’s expression turned solemn. He stomped his foot, sending a spell into the formation.
With several dull *thuds*, five differently colored beams of light shot out diagonally from around the earthfire pool, converging on the bone wings in a dazzling display.
Han Li squinted slightly. By the time his vision returned to normal, a thick, shimmering five-colored light barrier had formed in the air.
A flicker of emotion passed through Han Li’s eyes, but his expression soon returned to impassivity.
The silvery-white bone wings, wrapped in flames, burned fiercely within the barrier without any unusual activity. The three demons below simultaneously let out a sigh of relief.
The first step had been completed without error, flawless!
Next, Feng Xi, looking much more relaxed, took out a transparent cyan crystal from his person. Without hesitation, he tossed it into the light barrier.
Soon, the crystal softened into a liquid state. Feng Xi quickly emitted white spirit threads to control the liquid, evenly coating the surface of the bone wings. After completing this, his face grew serious again.
He glanced at the other two demons, gave a slight signal, and softly uttered the word “wind.” Then, opening his mouth, he spat out a white, crystalline demon core, which shot into the light barrier.
The Venomous Flood Dragon and the Turtle Demon did not dare delay, similarly spitting out their own painstakingly cultivated demon cores. The cores flew into the air, chasing and intertwining with one another.
Feng Xi flicked his hand, sending a spell toward his demon core. Immediately, white core flames of the wind attribute surged around it.
The other two yellow and blue demon cores behaved differently. Under the control of the Venomous Flood Dragon and the Turtle Demon, they simultaneously spat out thumb-thick core flames. Midway, the flames merged, emitting crackling sounds before transforming into shimmering silver flames.
As soon as these two core flames appeared, they each drew in half of the surrounding red earthfire, their momentum instantly intensifying. Then, with remarkable sentience, they enveloped one bone wing each, beginning to refine them slowly.
A trace of unconcealed joy appeared on Feng Xi’s face. After signaling the other two demons, he sat cross-legged on the spot. The Venomous Flood Dragon and the Turtle Demon did the same.
For a time, the massive formation fell into complete silence.
Han Li sat alone in his corner, silent, but a strange light flickered incessantly in his eyes. However, when he glanced around, a bitter smile appeared on his face.
Somehow, the formation was designed such that the moment the five-colored light barrier formed in the air, an identical barrier appeared around where Han Li was sitting, trapping him inside without any means of escape. Had it not been for the absence of any flames within the barrier, Han Li might have suspected the three demons intended to refine him as one of the materials.
Han Li felt uneasy. The fact that he remained unharmed so far only made him more anxious. Just then, a change finally occurred. The light barrier flickered, alternating between bright and dim.
Han Li’s pupils contracted slightly before returning to normal. Before he could guess what was happening, he suddenly felt an odd sensation in his body and hurriedly looked down.
As the five-colored light barrier brightened and dimmed, a faint cyan glow, barely visible to the naked eye, began emanating from his body. Slowly but surely, his spiritual power was leaking out on its own, being gradually absorbed by the light barrier.
Han Li frowned, his expression darkening. It seemed the three demons had no intention of letting him participate in the treasure refinement. Instead, they were using him as a massive spirit stone.
After a moment of thought, his expression returned to normal, though he inwardly sneered.
He refused to believe the three demons would keep him trapped forever, continuously draining his spiritual power. He estimated that sooner or later, they would still need his assistance.
