Chapter 21: Unstoppable Momentum

The colossal Valhalla stood tall, its enormous tail swinging with a force that awoke the slumbering Daimio. Once again, it transformed into a beast that dominated the void. It unleashed a silent roar, soaring through the void, and its massive tail struck the Grand Duke’s flagship with brutal force!

A deafening boom echoed through the void, accompanied by the shrill sound of twisting metal. The shockwave reverberated through the ether, far and wide. Whether human or dark race, those with weaker powers suffered excruciating headaches upon hearing this sound. They writhed on the ground, desperately covering their ears, to no avail. The oscillating sound waves still seeped through their bodies, causing immense harm.

Many powerful figures immediately opened defensive fields to block the shockwaves as much as possible. Those who managed to protect themselves gaped in disbelief at the distant spectacle.

The moment the Daimio’s tail struck, the Grand Duke’s flagship visibly bent. In the past, the Daimio had cleaved Lin Jiar’s flagship in two with a single blow. Now, though the damage to the Grand Duke’s ship was less apparent, the entire vessel still bent noticeably. Even a small angle indicated permanent damage, not to mention the internal equipment and crew.

In the face of such void beasts as the Daimio, the creations of both humans and dark races appeared fragile. To contend with such behemoths, one could only rely on the might of sovereigns.

The Daimio did not relent on its gravely wounded adversary. It turned gracefully and agilely in the void, like a whale shark, accelerating with a single tail flip, and charged towards the Grand Duke’s flagship. This time, it chose to fly beneath the ship, its long, sharp spines cutting deep into the hull.

Though the Grand Duke’s flagship was far more robust and well-defended than Lin Jiar’s, even at full speed, the Daimio failed to completely slice it open. The spines lodged in the ship’s structure.

However, the Daimio’s innate instincts knew how to handle this. Its body thrashed violently, and with an unstoppable force, it finally tore through the Grand Duke’s flagship, leaving a gaping wound before departing.

The Daimio circled in the distance, returning to the fray. A sudden cry of alarm swept through the Imperial fleet as many keen-eyed warriors finally saw a figure standing atop the Daimio, familiar yet strange.

“Qian Ye!” Someone shouted his name. At least in the Right Chancellor’s system, this name was taboo.

More and more recognized Qian Ye, but they couldn’t tell what he stood on. The sheer size of Valhalla, over a kilometer long, imposed an immense pressure on them.

The Grand Duke’s flagship, almost split in half, spewed flames from the gash. It tumbled away, losing all propulsion.

A shadowy figure drifted out of the Grand Duke’s flagship, darting like lightning towards Valhalla. It was the spider-mage Grand Duke, evidently preparing to forcibly board Valhalla and strike from within.

The spider-mage Grand Duke did not attack from the head of Valhalla. No one knew what Valhalla truly was, but approaching the mouth of such a behemoth was undoubtedly foolish. He chose a gap in the waist, charging straight in.

Seeing the spider-mage Grand Duke successfully board Valhala, the hearts of the Imperial fleet sank. The Grand Duke’s combat prowess was formidable, and none believed that Qian Ye could match him at this moment.

Qian Ye had disappeared from the Daimio’s head. The Daimio’s massive body suddenly stopped, floating motionless in the void.

Silence, the entire battlefield fell deathly quiet. Despite ongoing explosions and fire, all attention was drawn to the battle inside Valhalla.

Suddenly, the Daimio’s flank exploded, spewing a long stream of fire!

Within the fiery stream, the spider-mage Grand Duke emerged, flying faster than when he boarded, heading straight for the Eternal Night reinforcements, abandoning his comrades still battling the Imperial forces.

From the other end of the fire stream, Qian Ye appeared, his radiant wings dazzling. His short gun pointed at the fleeing spider-mage Grand Duke. Qian Ye’s whole body trembled, and the distant spider-mage Grand Duke let out a long, pained roar. His speed increased, and he quickly escaped.

Qian Ye slowly retracted his wings, flickered, and reappeared atop the Daimio. The previously sleeping Daimio woke up, swirled in place, and once again targeted the spider-mage Grand Duke. However, the Grand Duke’s strength was overwhelming, and even in the void, his short-range sprinting speed far exceeded the Daimio’s. He was already halfway to the battlefield and the Eternal Night fleet, making pursuit futile.

The Daimio, frustrated, turned to find a new target.

Everyone, whether from the Empire or the Eternal Night, held their breath. Although they couldn’t discern if Valhalla was a living creature or a rare machine, one thing was clear: this behemoth was under Qian Ye’s complete control, as if he commanded it with his own hands.

The scene had unfolded too quickly, and many couldn’t see how Qian Ye had injured the spider-mage Grand Duke. Only the few most powerful warriors vaguely saw Qian Ye shoot a faint, ink-colored light feather. The feather flashed and vanished, and the distant spider-mage Grand Duke immediately cried out in pain, unable to avoid it despite the great distance.

Qian Ye felt regretful; the spider-mages were indeed tenacious. Even after being hit by a Primordial Gun, the Grand Duke still managed to escape.

Carol appeared beside him, looking in the direction of the fleeing Grand Duke, “Don’t worry, after that hit, he is no longer a threat.”

“It still depends on you,” Qian Ye said, turning his gaze away.

“You are very impressive, more so than I imagined. But…” Carol started to say something but didn’t continue.

Qian Ye looked in another direction, “There’s another problem.”

“Then let’s deal with it,” Carol said, her fingertips crackling with lightning.

The vast Valhalla changed course, swooping towards the remaining Grand Duke’s flagship.

The Grand Duke’s flagship tried to flee but was cornered by Imperial warships. The warship mothership, disregarding losses, bombarded it, preventing any escape.

Valhalla navigated the void, appearing above the Grand Duke’s flagship, and unleashed a barrage of colorful, luminous blasts, smashing large holes in the ship.

The cannon “Chen Lu” that Lin Jiar had painstakingly built was meant for her future duchess-class flagship, with unparalleled power. After being moved to Valhalla, enhanced by the Daimio’s power, the cannon’s might was now on par with the Grand Duke’s flagship.

Now, the spider-mage Grand Duke’s ship, struck by Chen Lu, erupted in flames, and its retaliatory firepower was completely suppressed.

Two Eternal Night destroyers appeared from the side, charging fearlessly towards Valhalla. Their main cannons were primed and ready to fire, waiting only to enter range.

The two destroyers flew at full speed, almost on a straight course into Valhalla’s control zone. Only then did the primal mist surrounding Valhalla dissipate, revealing its true form to the destroyer captains. Instantly, they saw a row of ready-to-fire ballistae!

Having fought the Imperial fleet for years, they could identify each ballista model blindfolded. On just this side, there were five cruiser main guns and nearly ten destroyer main guns aimed at them!

Both captains sighed inwardly, feeling despair. Over a dozen bolts of various colors streaked through the air, turning their ships into two fireballs in an instant.

Thus, all Eternal Night warships understood the level of Valhalla’s firepower and no longer dared to approach its range.

A thunderous roar echoed through the void, and a figure suddenly flew out from the besieged Grand Duke’s flagship. It was the spider-mage Grand Duke, having left his ship. He paused in mid-air, seemingly unsure whether to break through in the direction of Valhalla or escape towards the Imperial fleet.

The Right Chancellor, having switched ships, chuckled, “It’s our turn now. We can’t let the young ones take all the credit.”

“Sir, no! That is…” The counselors hadn’t even finished their protests when the Right Chancellor vanished. They lacked the strength to fight in the void and could only fume.

Two figures also emerged from the battleships, joining the Right Chancellor, surrounding the spider-mage Grand Duke. These were the commanders of the Second and Third fleets, both divine generals.

Despite the spider-mage Grand Duke’s formidable strength, in the void, with no terrain to use or space to maneuver, the combined assault of the three divine generals left him powerless in moments.

In a flash, the desperate roar of the spider-mage Grand Duke filled the void, only to be cut off abruptly.

Qian Ye and Carol watched silently.

Carol said, “The trouble isn’t over.”

“I know.”

In the distance, the Eternal Night reinforcements finally arrived, entering the battlefield. The Imperial fleet’s formation was disorganized, and many ships were still mopping up the remnants. After the battle, over half of the main warships were damaged, a dire situation.

Facing the well-prepared Eternal Night fleet directly would result in heavy losses.

Valhalla suddenly leaped out, like a true void beast, moving thousands of meters to block the path of the Eternal Night fleet.

At the head of the Eternal Night fleet were three Grand Duke-class vessels. Facing the sudden appearance of Valhalla, the leading flagship braked sharply, stopping just outside the range of Chen Lu. The abrupt stop caused chaos among the trailing ships, and the formation became a tangled mess. Yet, all the ships managed to stop without colliding, a testament to their training.

The entire Eternal Night reinforcement fleet was thus halted by Valhalla.

At this moment, the leading Grand Duke’s flagship and Valhalla were within firing range. Stationary, a shot would hit!

Both main cannons glowed slightly, already charged, needing only a trigger to fire.

On the resplendent throne of the Grand Duke’s flagship, the blood-mage Grand Duke shifted, resting his chin on his hand, and focused intently on Qian Ye, standing atop the Daimio. His eyes emitted a blood-red glow, piercing Qian Ye’s gaze.

Qian Ye met the blood-mage Grand Duke’s gaze, undaunted.

Their gazes almost sparked in the void. In the standoff, Qian Ye’s fierce counterattack showed no signs of being suppressed by the bloodline power.

The blood-mage Grand Duke narrowed his eyes, whispering, “Is this him? Indeed, quite interesting.”

He pondered, tapping his fingers on the armrest. Light screens appeared on either side, with a demon and a werewolf asking in unison, “What are you hesitating for? Why not attack?”
