Chapter 1087: The Ice Snarling Beast

“Is this the lair of the Snow Roar Beasts?” Han Li frowned as he gazed into the unfathomable ice crevice, from which a biting cold wind continuously howled.

“Indeed, this is precisely the location described by my sect’s disciple!” Bai Yaoyi, the graceful woman floating beside Han Li, confirmed after surveying the area with a few glances.

“Then let’s lure them out directly!” Han Li nodded, forming a hand seal with one hand. As spiritual light shimmered around him, tiny sparks appeared before him, which abruptly swelled into fist-sized crimson fireballs with a series of soft pops.

“Go!”

With a light flick of his sleeve, the dozens of fireballs shot downward, enveloped in a red glow, and vanished into the dark crevice in an instant.

Han Li and Bai Yaoyi stared intently below, not even blinking.

Yet, after a long while, the crevice remained eerily silent, with no signs of explosions or disturbances.

Exchanging a glance, both showed a hint of surprise.

“Even fifth or sixth-grade demon beasts couldn’t silently neutralize these fireballs. There must be something stronger below,” Han Li mused, stroking his chin.

“Perhaps. My sect’s disciple didn’t venture deep into the crevice. He merely spotted the Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice and Frostbloom at the edge before being discovered by the Snow Roar Beasts,” Bai Yaoyi replied, her expression turning solemn.

“No matter. I’ll use my spirit beasts to force them out.” Han Li smirked, patting a spirit beast pouch at his waist. Twelve streaks of white light shot out, circling in the air before transforming into foot-long, snow-white centipedes with transparent wings and ferocious appearances.

At Han Li’s command, the Six-Winged Frost Centipedes emitted chilling light and dove into the crevice.

Bai Yaoyi watched with slight astonishment but said nothing.

Han Li showed no concern for the centipedes’ safety—even if they encountered an eighth-grade demon beast, the twelve together could easily escape.

Soon, rumbling sounds of battle erupted from the crevice, growing louder as if something was about to emerge.

Han Li flicked his sleeve, releasing over a dozen golden streaks that transformed into gleaming golden swords hovering motionlessly above the crevice.

Bai Yaoyi smiled but refrained from attacking, evidently trusting Han Li to handle the situation effortlessly.

Moments later, strange beastly roars echoed from below, followed by a surge of snowy wind carrying seven or eight lion-like, snow-white beasts—clearly terrified and fleeing for their lives.

Han Li immediately recognized them as the “Snow Roar Beasts.” Without hesitation, he willed the golden swords to strike, their golden arcs slicing through the fierce winds and severing the beasts in mid-air. Their remains plummeted back into the crevice.

Then, an earth-shaking roar erupted as a massive whirlwind burst from the crevice. At its apex crouched a furious, silver-furred beast—twice the size of the Snow Roar Beasts.

“Wait, this isn’t a Snow Roar Beast—it’s an Ice Ferocity Beast! How could such a high-grade demon beast appear here?” Bai Yaoyi exclaimed in surprise.

Before Han Li could respond, the twelve Frost Centipedes lunged at the silver beast. Despite being only seventh-grade, the beast fought fiercely, matching the centipedes in a stalemate.

Han Li raised a finger, ready to command his swords to finish the beast, but Bai Yaoyi intervened:

“Hold, Fellow Daoist! This Ice Ferocity Beast is rare and possesses ice-wind attributes. Let me capture it for future use!”

Han Li chuckled. “Then I’ll assist in subduing it. No need for you to act, Fairy Bai.”

He exhaled a plume of purple flame, which coalesced into a lifelike, foot-long firebird that swooped toward the whirlwind. The centipedes scattered in fear, leaving the silver beast exposed.

Realizing the danger, the beast summoned a gale to escape, but Han Li struck with a mental spike, stunning it. Seizing the moment, the purple firebird enveloped the beast in violet mist, freezing it into a massive block of purple ice.

As the whirlwind dissipated, Bai Yaoyi summoned a giant white hand to retrieve the ice block. “Thank you, Brother Han. I won’t stand on ceremony!” She produced a shimmering spirit beast pouch, storing the ice and beast within.

Han Li recalled the centipedes, which vanished into the surroundings. “While refining the Frostbloom, I’d prefer no disturbances. These spirit insects will guard the area.”

Bai Yaoyi nodded in agreement, and the two descended into the crevice.

Inside, darkness enveloped them, save for faint glows on the icy walls—ordinary Profound Ice, not the prized Ten-Thousand-Year variety.

At the bottom, a milky-white crystal vein sprawled before them, revealing its superior quality. Han Li’s gaze, however, fixed on three small, pale flowers rooted in exposed Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice, surrounded by swirling frost.

“Three Frostblooms should suffice,” Han Li murmured in relief.

“The Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice here is abundant. My disciple has earned a reward,” Bai Yaoyi remarked, pleased.

“These flowers must be refined immediately. I’ve prepared the other materials. Will you return now, or…?” Han Li asked.

“How long will your refinement take? I might explore nearby. A seventh-grade beast appearing so close to North Nether Island is unusual—I should investigate,” Bai Yaoyi replied thoughtfully.

“Very well. But be cautious,” Han Li advised.

“Rest assured, Brother Han. This is merely precautionary. Such occurrences aren’t unheard of. I’ll take my leave now.” With a charming smile, she transformed into a streak of light and soared upward.
