The Nascent Soul of Spirit Lord Huang Liang emitted a dazzling yellow light as the small green sword in its hand suddenly flew out on its own.
With a flash of green light, the sword transformed into a bizarre spirit beast with an eagle’s head, a horse’s body, and a pair of cyan feathered wings. It opened its maw wide and fiercely pounced toward the giant.
At the same time, Huang Liang solemnly pointed toward the massive white seal that had been tumbling in the air.
After one strike, the seal trembled violently but did not descend again. Instead, it spun rapidly, turning into a hazy white shadow.
Instantly, countless strands of multicolored light appeared in the nearby sky, all converging into the seal, causing its size to expand at an astonishing rate. Within a few breaths, the seal had grown several times its original size, obscuring nearly half the sky beneath it, its momentum shockingly immense.
Huantian Qi’s escape light dimmed as his figure came to a halt dozens of zhang away from the giant. Raising both hands, two balls of gray lightning simultaneously appeared before merging with a thunderous rumble.
A gray blade several zhang long materialized!
Though it appeared to be the same technique as before, this blade was clearly far more powerful than the previous longsword.
Huantian Qi’s half-demonic pupils coldly fixed on the giant for a moment before he suddenly raised a hand and beckoned toward the enormous moth hovering motionlessly in the air.
Immediately, the moth spread its wings, transforming into a streak of colored light that shot downward, vanishing into the massive blade.
Then, the blade abruptly emitted a chilling radiance. Gripping it with both hands, Huantian Qi slowly swung it toward the giant’s waist.
A dazzlingly thin line slashed out in an instant.
Though the giant was not highly intelligent, under the combined assault of Spirit Lord Huang Liang and Huantian Qi, it sensed imminent danger.
It let out a deafening roar toward the sky, its single eye flashing with white light as a crystalline white sphere shot out, transforming into a ball of white radiance that blocked the eagle-headed, horse-bodied beast.
At the same time, a blood-red light flickered as a beam of crystalline light, as solid as reality, shot from its pupil, colliding with the dazzlingly thin horizontal slash.
A bizarre scene unfolded!
The two thin lines crossed in a straight line, their strange glows intertwining and flickering, yet the entire process remained eerily silent, locked in a stalemate.
Facing the massive white seal above, the giant spun rapidly, its stone club conjuring a mountain-like illusion before hurling toward Spirit Lord Huang Liang with a gust of foul wind.
Then, clenching both fists, thick veins like earthworms bulged beneath its skin as it delivered a fierce punch toward the seal in the sky.
Relying solely on its brute strength, it sought to smash the seal barehanded.
A deafening explosion erupted as the seal trembled, releasing a radiance as blinding as the scorching sun. Even Han Li, watching from above, instinctively narrowed his eyes before shutting them completely.
A moment later, a towering shockwave surged forth, violently agitating the surrounding air. Han Li’s body swayed, nearly swept away by the force.
Startled, he instinctively circulated his spiritual power, stabilizing himself in midair.
When he reopened his eyes and looked downward, he froze in shock.
A murky yellow cloud of earth had risen from below, obscuring all three combatants within.
After a brief hesitation, Han Li cautiously extended his spiritual sense into the cloud.
Inside, the furious roars of the one-eyed giant and the wild laughter of the demonic cultivator surnamed Huan echoed, punctuated by intermittent explosions. The yellow earth cloud churned violently, carrying faint howls.
Strangely, Spirit Lord Huang Liang remained completely silent throughout, whether because he was at a critical juncture in his spellcasting or because he was already confident of victory.
Han Li’s thoughts stirred as he glanced toward the shadow lurking nearby, only to stiffen slightly.
The shadow, likely Xu Tian, had vanished without a trace.
Han Li’s eyes flickered as he studied the gloomy yellow cloud, his expression pensive.
A piercing scream tore through the sky from within the cloud, followed by a thunderous crash as something heavy collapsed to the ground, shaking the earth.
Then, all sound abruptly ceased.
A strange glint flashed in Han Li’s eyes as he formed a hand seal, silently descending toward the ground.
Almost simultaneously, Huantian Qi’s triumphant laughter erupted from the yellow cloud:
“Fortunately, this brute was dim-witted, or we wouldn’t have finished it so quickly. The renegade spirit must have been devoured. I’ll cut open its body to see what treasure it carried, driving it to flee all the way here.”
“Then I’ll leave it to you, Brother Huan. I’ve already suppressed the Falling Sun Crystal and will hand it over shortly,” Spirit Lord Huang Liang’s voice replied from within the cloud.
The yellow cloud gradually dispersed, revealing the scene within.
The one-eyed giant lay in a pool of foul green blood, riddled with wounds. One arm and one leg had been severed, lying beside its body. Its massive head had been reduced to a mangled ruin, only half remaining.
A gaping hole, several zhang wide, marred its chest, the edges charred black as if its heart had been obliterated by some supremely yang treasure.
This strike had likely been the fatal blow.
Huantian Qi had reverted to his human form, his complexion pale but otherwise unharmed. He now directed a pale-white flying blade to slice open the giant’s enormous abdomen.
At the other end of the corpse, Spirit Lord Huang Liang idly toyed with a white crystalline sphere, a faint smile on his lips.
The sphere was none other than the Falling Sun Crystal, now mysteriously shrunken by some unknown spell.
“Years ago in the Untamed Wilds, we slew another two-faced giant, far more troublesome than this one. Honestly, it’s best to avoid provoking these ancient giants. Unlike primordial beasts or heaven-earth spirit creatures, their massive bodies yield nothing of value. Killing one is just wasted effort,” Huantian Qi sighed, manipulating the flying blade absentmindedly.
“True. In the Untamed Wilds, we usually steer clear of these giants. But to say they offer no benefits isn’t entirely accurate. Remember the Heavenly Wolf King of the Seven Great Demon Monarchs? He slew a seven-headed giant and found a fragment of Ten Thousand Dawns Filth within, forging the Ten Thousand Dawns Demon Tower listed on the Chaos Ranking, cementing his reign as the Wolf Clan’s monarch,” Spirit Lord Huang Liang countered.
“Fair point. These ancient giants devour everything indiscriminately. Occasionally, they harbor treasures. But the odds are too slim to risk battling one in the wilds—especially since they usually travel in packs. Don’t forget how three others chased us into the sea after we killed that two-faced giant,” Huantian Qi replied with a bitter laugh.
Spirit Lord Huang Liang chuckled at the memory but said no more.
With a squelch, Huantian Qi’s flying blade cleaved through a section of the giant’s flesh, spilling a pile of objects.
Most were dull and lifeless, save for a pale-blue jade bowl and a small, crystalline crimson vial, both faintly glowing with spiritual light.
The jade bowl emitted a faint blue radiance, encasing the vial within.
“This must be it.”
Huantian Qi’s gaze swept over the items before settling on the jade bowl—an artifact of the Spirit Tribe, now devoid of spiritual energy, its wielder deceased.
Whatever the spirit had protected even in death was almost certainly their target.
As Huantian Qi reached for the vial with delight, Spirit Lord Huang Liang’s face abruptly paled as he shouted, “Beware!”
Huantian Qi, a seasoned expert, sensed the hidden attack the moment the warning came.
With a furious roar, he stomped the ground, propelling himself into the air like a bolt from a crossbow.
A streak of blood-red light narrowly missed his legs.
A foot-tall figure materialized nearby, lunging for the vial.
“You dare?!” Spirit Lord Huang Liang bellowed, fingers flicking rapidly as a dozen yellow sword qi shot forth—but too late.
The figure cackled triumphantly, snatching the vial before transforming into a crimson cloud and darting skyward.
“Xu Tian! So it’s you? You won’t escape!” Huantian Qi, having narrowly avoided being bisected, hovered midair, his rage boiling over.
With a thought, spatial ripples erupted above the crimson cloud as a massive moth materialized. Its emerald eyes flashed before it furiously beat its wings, unleashing a seven-colored mist toward the cloud below.
The crimson cloud recoiled from the radiant mist, swerving sharply to evade—but the delay allowed Spirit Lord Huang Liang’s sword qi to close in. The spirit lord himself transformed into a yellow streak, charging forward.
Xu Tian, within the cloud, tensed.
Just then, a familiar voice whispered in his ear:
“Lord Xu Tian, pass me the divine blood. I’ll use my concealment arts to spirit it away.”
Xu Tian’s initial shock gave way to elation.
The hidden figure was none other than Shi Yan.
Though Xu Tian had vaguely sensed his clansman’s presence earlier, he hadn’t been certain until now.
Without hesitation, he blocked the incoming sword qi with one hand while the other flicked, sending the crimson vial streaking toward the voice’s origin.
