Chapter 1366: Scramble For The Fruits

A savage expression flashed across the face of the giant opposite. With a single motion of its hand, the massive black club on its shoulder was instantly gripped, and the eyes covering its body began to glow intensely, blinking rapidly.

The sight of so many eyes moving simultaneously on its body was enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.

Yet, Han Li, observing from the air, felt a surge of joy and held his breath.

If the two creatures below truly engaged in battle, their mission would become remarkably simple.

With a *bang*, the lizard opened its maw, and a crimson shadow shot out. At the same time, a burst of silver light erupted from the soil beneath its massive claw.

The crimson shadow retracted, dragging out a strange object—a silver puppet with the head of a flood dragon and a human body—pierced through its core. It crashed heavily onto the ground.

Han Li tensed, focusing his gaze. The puppet had been destroyed by the lizard’s terrifyingly long tongue, its lower half blown apart, now reduced to scrap metal.

It seemed the puppet had exposed itself at the last moment, allowing the giant lizard to detect and obliterate it.

Though the Thousand-Eyed Giant opposite was not highly intelligent, it still paused in surprise before its countless eyes swiveled and unleashed a barrage of black threads.

Another explosion sounded as a second puppet hidden beneath the giant was simultaneously pierced by seven or eight black threads.

These threads, of unknown origin, sliced through the puppet like blades, reducing it to scattered fragments in an instant.

Witnessing this, Han Li inhaled sharply, his eyes flickering with unease.

The danger of this mission far exceeded his expectations. However, the Spirit Ginseng Fruit was crucial for future cultivation of Void Refinement-level spiritual medicines. No matter the risk, he had no choice but to proceed.

After all, with the seeds of this spiritual medicine, he could cultivate an endless supply.

Steeling himself, Han Li calmed his mind once more.

The giant let out a few grunts of warning before resting its club back on its shoulder.

The lizard, devoid of emotion, stared at the giant before slowly lowering itself back to the ground.

The two colossal creatures had returned to their stalemate.

Yet Han Li remained fixated below, not daring to let his guard slip.

Since the puppets had failed, according to their original plan, Long Dong and the others should now work together to lure the lizard and the giant away, creating an opportunity for him to retrieve the fruit.

Sure enough, within moments, the sound of a pipa echoed above the lizard, followed by rings of yellow light descending toward its head. Simultaneously, two white short halberds materialized, slashing down like twin dragons emerging from the sea.

At the same time, two figures appeared in the sky—the white-robed maiden and Long Dong.

The maiden plucked the strings of her imitation spiritual treasure pipa, while Long Dong solemnly controlled his two artifacts.

Despite its massive size, the lizard moved with astonishing agility. The moment the attacks descended, it roared and stood, its crimson horn flashing as a red mist surged forth, blocking both the yellow rings and the white halberds.

Then, green light shimmered along its back, and a volley of emerald-hardened quills shot skyward. Its enormous tail vanished in a blur, leaving only an afterimage.

The next instant, the tail—over twenty zhang long—mysteriously reappeared beside the maiden and Long Dong, sweeping toward them with such force that a gale erupted before it even struck, engulfing both.

This mutated ancient beast was truly formidable, countering with overwhelming ferocity.

Though they had expected resistance, the maiden and Long Dong were still startled.

Fortunately, they had no intention of engaging directly.

The maiden flicked a golden talisman, which enveloped her in a golden glow before she vanished, reappearing thirty zhang away.

Long Dong let out a dragon-like roar as a suit of yellow armor covered his body, its metallic scales shielding him completely, with massive bronze wings sprouting from his back.

With a flap, countless afterimages filled the sky, evading both the emerald quills and the lizard’s tail.

Yet neither dared pause, for the quills pursued relentlessly, and the tail flickered in and out of visibility, stirring gales in its wake.

For a time, the lizard and the two humans engaged in a frenzied chase.

Though the lizard was mostly focused on them, it still kept an eye on the Thousand-Eyed Giant, wary of it seizing the fruit.

Meanwhile, the giant, distracted by two new figures appearing behind it, faced a barrage of black fireballs and a massive claw slamming down on its head.

The giant roared in fury, its silver eyes spinning rapidly, absorbing the black flames effortlessly. The claw shattered under a casual backhanded slap.

The two attackers—a woman and a white-browed youth—were stunned before realizing their attacks had only enraged the beast.

The giant’s eyes locked onto them, unleashing a storm of black threads.

Recognizing the danger, the woman summoned a green shuttle, darting inside to escape, while the youth transformed into a giant eagle, vanishing in a blur.

Like Long Dong and the maiden, they had no intention of fighting head-on, only delaying.

Thus, the four weaved through the sky, dodging attacks and occasionally striking back, keeping the monsters roaring in frustration.

Yet neither the lizard nor the giant pursued, stubbornly guarding the fruit.

Had they given chase, the four would have been swiftly overwhelmed. Instead, they maintained a precarious balance, drawing the monsters’ attention away from the fruit.

Seizing the moment, Han Li descended silently, his form nearly invisible even to Void Refinement-level beasts—his greatest advantage.

Still, he moved with extreme caution, barely breathing as he closed in on the Spirit Ginseng Fruit.

At ten zhang away, he could smell its fragrance and see the tiny flood dragons beneath its skin.

Instead of grabbing it immediately, he retrieved several items from his storage bracelet.

With a flick of his wrist, he hurled silver orbs toward the two monsters before snatching the fruit in a flash.

Instantly exposed, he spread his wings and vanished in a thunderclap.

A crimson shadow and black threads pierced through the space he had occupied—only to find an afterimage.

His true form had already teleported away.

Deafening explosions erupted as massive silver lightning spheres engulfed the area, arcs of electricity lashing out like furious serpents, wind and thunder merging into chaos.

The sheer force of the detonations shook the heavens and earth.
