Chapter 1648: Seizing the Path

The silver-armored figure confronting the demonic beasts was none other than the man surnamed Gui, who had departed ahead of the group in the Demon Ape Mountain Range.

Whether by coincidence or not, this man had taken the same route as Han Li and the others, only to be blocked by such a large number of demonic beasts.

At this moment, Gui, noticing the strange behavior of the two-horned demon opposite him, swiftly turned his head in suspicion—only to spot Han Li and the slender woman, Xianxian, emerging right behind him.

The man from the foreign race was momentarily stunned, but after a quick glance, a trace of delight flickered in his eyes.

To be honest, despite his composed demeanor earlier, Gui had been inwardly consumed with anxiety.

He had not stopped for a moment since parting ways with Han Li and the others, yet he had still been ambushed by so many demonic beasts. His shock and fury were palpable.

The beast horde before him consisted mainly of mid-tier demonic beasts, but there were also over thirty high-tier ones. Worse still, the two-horned humanoid demon leading them was of comparable cultivation to his own.

Though confident in his abilities, he knew that engaging them head-on would mean certain death.

His only hope was to somehow break free and flee at top speed.

But when he noticed that among the high-tier beasts were seven or eight winged avian and insectoid demons, his heart sank.

There was no doubt that these creatures were incredibly fast.

Against two or three, he might have stood a chance to escape, but with so many in pursuit, his chances were slim.

Now that Han Li had appeared, the pressure on him was instantly halved, and his previously negligible odds of survival had suddenly improved. No wonder Gui was overjoyed.

Xianxian, however, looked extremely grim at the sight.

Han Li’s expression was slightly calmer, but his eyes flickered as he hovered motionlessly in mid-air, deep in thought.

Despite their numbers, the demonic beasts were all intelligent beings. Though they glared at the trio with hostility, there was no chaotic uproar. Instead, they stared at them as if they were already dead.

An eerie silence fell over the scene.

But the next moment, the stillness was shattered.

“Hahaha! It’s you! You’re the one who killed the young master! If I capture or kill you, the master will reward me handsomely! Kill the other two—but this one, take alive if possible!” The two-horned demon, Wu Qi, burst into raucous laughter upon recognizing Han Li’s face, then abruptly stopped and issued a bloodthirsty command.

As soon as the words left his mouth, the mid- and high-tier demonic beasts behind him roared in unison. A black wind surged forth, rolling toward the trio like a tidal wave.

Ahead of the black wind, over a dozen streaks of light shot out, flashing past the dark gale and charging straight at Han Li and the others.

Within the black radiance were monstrous birds with three heads and giant insects with massive wings.

As for Wu Qi, his body shimmered with green light as a seemingly ordinary green disk materialized beneath his feet. With a single flicker, he shot forward dozens of feet, his speed matching that of the winged beasts.

His target was Han Li, and in another flash, he was nearly upon him.

“Split up and run!”

Suppressing his shock at being recognized, Han Li uttered a cold command. His body transformed into a streak of azure light as he shot into the sky.

The azure radiance blazed as he instantly covered over forty feet, showing no signs of stopping.

He neither charged toward the beasts nor retreated into the mist, instead veering sharply to the side.

Xianxian and Gui reacted just as swiftly.

At the same moment, Gui spat out a cloud of bloody mist, which vanished into the blood chariot beneath him.

The black mist surrounding the chariot wailed like ghosts before the entire vehicle vanished on the spot. A hundred feet away, it reappeared in a flash, then let out a shrill cry as it transformed into a streak of black light and fled.

Meanwhile, Xianxian gritted her teeth and flicked her sleeve, summoning a crystalline banner.

A brilliant white light enveloped her, transforming her into a radiant sphere. With a spin, it exploded into dozens of identical white orbs that scattered in all directions.

Each orb moved with astonishing speed, leaving behind trails of afterimages as they crossed twenty to thirty feet in an instant.

The orbs heading toward the beast horde were swiftly destroyed—either swallowed whole or crushed by massive claws.

But most of the orbs escaped over a hundred feet away.

Despite their numbers, none of the high-tier demons could discern which orb contained the woman’s true form.

Seeing all three humans—regardless of their cultivation levels—slipping away so effortlessly, Wu Qi roared in fury. He lashed out, shattering two passing white orbs with his hands.

His green disk flickered, morphing into an emerald-green canoe that shot after Han Li with a piercing whistle.

Behind him, a pitch-black demonic eagle with a wingspan of ten feet and a massive green wasp crackling with lightning followed closely.

The three seemed fixated on Han Li, matching his azure streak’s speed without faltering.

In other directions, several high-tier beasts pursued Gui, while the remaining winged demons hesitated before scattering after the white orbs.

The beasts controlling the black wind split into three groups—two chasing Han Li and Gui, while the third went after the orbs.

Han Li observed everything behind him with perfect clarity. Seeing that Xianxian still had tricks up her sleeve, he relaxed slightly and focused solely on his escape.

At his current speed, he could traverse thousands of miles in an instant. Within moments, he had already covered tens of thousands of miles.

Glancing back, he saw the three demons still hot on his trail, barely a hundred feet behind.

Further back, the black wind was faintly visible, still in relentless pursuit.

A cold glint flashed in Han Li’s eyes.

If it were just the three high-tier demons, he wouldn’t fear them. But if they delayed him even briefly, the dozens of other beasts would swarm him. In his current weakened state, that would be disastrous.

Without hesitation, Han Li formed a hand seal mid-flight. A pair of crystalline wings sprouted from his back, crackling with thunder.

With a single flap, a thunderclap boomed.

The azure streak trembled, transforming into a blue-white arc of lightning that vanished in a flash.

A hundred feet away, the lightning reappeared with a deafening roar before disappearing again.

Han Li pushed the Wind Lightning Wings to their limits, executing the Thunder Evasion technique with peerless mastery.

The blue-white lightning flickered in and out of existence, and within moments, he had widened the gap between himself and the three demons by another hundred feet.

Wu Qi was first startled, then furious.

If his prey escaped right under his nose, his fate upon returning would be unspeakable.

With a snarl, he spat out a triangular bronze mirror.

The mirror’s surface was murky and indistinct, but Wu Qi turned and growled something at the other two demons.

The demonic eagle and the green wasp exchanged hesitant glances.

Wu Qi’s face twisted with menace, and he roared again—this time with unmistakable bloodlust.

Trembling, the two demons reluctantly spat out black and green orbs the size of fists, which vanished into the mirror.

The mirror trembled, emitting a low hum as its surface shimmered with alternating black and green light.

Delighted, Wu Qi tossed the mirror into the air and spat out a gray orb of his own.

The orb circled the mirror once before merging into it.

The mirror’s vibrations intensified, its glow now a swirling mix of black, green, and gray.

Wu Qi pointed a thick finger at the mirror, and a three-colored beam erupted from its surface.

Like a dragon leaping from the sea, the beam enveloped all three demons in an instant. The mirror itself vanished into the radiance.

The beam then streaked forward soundlessly, covering seventy to eighty feet in a blink—chasing the blue-white lightning like a phantom.

By combining their powers through the artifact, the three demons had drastically increased their speed.

Though still slightly slower than Han Li, Wu Qi was relieved.

Han Li’s cultivation was inferior to his, and with three demons pooling their strength, they could sustain this speed far longer. It was only a matter of time before they caught up.

Ahead, the blue-white lightning flickered amid low thunderclaps, while the three-colored beam pursued like a silent specter.

Before long, both had vanished beyond the horizon.

The black wind, still in pursuit, chased for tens of thousands of miles before realizing its targets had long since disappeared.

The wind dispersed, revealing over thirty mid- and high-tier demons left standing in bewilderment.
