Chapter 2028: Saving the Demon

Han Li observed the bizarre scene before him, a flash of blue light deep within his pupils allowing him to clearly discern the two figures surrounded by over a dozen silver demon beasts in the distance.

One was a towering demonic man, built like an iron fortress, while the other was an elderly demon with blue demonic markings etched across his cheeks.

Both were at the late-stage of the Void Refinement realm!

The demonic man was currently enveloped in rolling demonic energy, wielding a massive black staff with such force that faint sounds of wind and thunder accompanied his movements.

With each blurry swing of the staff, roaring black energy surged forth, blocking the majority of the silver beasts.

Meanwhile, the elderly demon, who had a pair of triangular green eyes, held a pitch-black bowl in his hands, from which phantom-like monstrous birds, each about a foot long, continuously emerged.

These phantoms exploded into bursts of gray light upon contact with the silver beasts, forcefully repelling them.

However, neither the black energy from the staff nor the explosive attacks of the monstrous bird phantoms seemed capable of dealing significant damage to the silver beasts—they merely managed to hold them at bay.

The beasts’ bodies were as tough as ordinary magical treasures, and after being repelled, they would immediately charge forward again without hesitation.

If this continued, the two demons would inevitably exhaust their mana and meet their doom.

Nearby lay the corpse of a demon beast with five-colored horns—its residual aura suggested it was the Beast King he had been searching for.

Had it already been slain? Could these two demons have done it? Despite their considerable strength, how had they managed such a feat?

Even with his sharp mind, Han Li found himself puzzled by the situation.

Strangely, despite the Beast King’s death, the demon beasts had not dispersed entirely—an unexpected turn of events.

As Han Li pondered his next move, the green demon beasts blocking his path seemed to recognize his formidable presence. Unlike the ordinary beasts, they did not recklessly charge at him, instead maintaining a tense standoff.

Just as Han Li hesitated, the besieged demonic man suddenly shouted to his companion, “Elder Wu, we can’t wait any longer! The Beast-Repelling Incense is about to wear off—we must leave now! I’ll hold these beasts back at the cost of my vitality. You cast the teleportation spell and get us out of here!”

With a furious roar, the demonic man’s aura surged violently, and his staff movements became twice as dense, blocking even the silver beasts targeting the elderly demon.

“Understood! Be careful, Brother Tie!”

Without hesitation, the elderly demon flipped his hand, causing the bowl to vanish and replacing it with a glossy black crystal. He tossed it forward and began chanting.

A strange sight unfolded—the crystal spun rapidly, releasing countless black threads of light that intertwined to form a black magic circle about ten feet wide.

A loud boom echoed as the circle began rotating in mid-air, activating on its own.

“Now, go!”

The elderly demon immediately dashed toward the circle, while the demonic man swung his staff wildly, forcing back the nearby silver beasts before transforming into a streak of black energy and shooting toward the circle.

Just as they were about to escape as planned, an unexpected disaster struck.

A silver beast abruptly appeared above the circle, lowering its head and firing a silver beam directly at the center.

A deafening explosion followed—the black magic circle flickered violently before shattering, sending violent shockwaves in all directions.

The two demons, already near the circle, froze in horror, their hearts sinking as if plunged into an icy abyss.

The silver beasts, however, showed no hesitation, immediately swarming them again.

At the same time, the faint green smoke forming a barrier around them dissipated with a soft sound, and the other demon beasts that had been held back now surged forward like a tidal wave.

In an instant, the two demons’ furious roars and the sounds of explosions erupted from within the horde—clearly, they had resorted to desperate measures.

Watching from afar, Han Li’s eyes flickered before he suddenly formed a hand seal. Golden light flared across his body as black scales emerged on his skin, and a powerful demonic aura erupted from within him, forming an overwhelming pressure that bore down on the beast horde.

The green beasts blocking his path hissed and instinctively retreated, though their gazes grew increasingly ferocious.

“Which esteemed senior is present? We are guardians of Blood Crow City! Please save us, and we will repay your kindness!”

“I am the sole heir of the Dark Crow Clan’s elder! If you save us, our clan will never forget your grace!”

The moment Han Li activated the pseudo-demon pearl and unleashed his aura, the two demons immediately noticed him and cried out as if grasping at their last hope.

Han Li smirked, sweeping his gaze over the green beasts before stepping forward.

In a blur, his figure appeared above the beasts.

Instead of retreating, the green beasts let out a collective shriek, their bristles standing on end as countless green spikes shot toward him.

“Interesting.”

Han Li chuckled, clenching his fists as black light surged behind him, transforming into countless black fist shadows that rained down.

The green spikes, despite their overwhelming numbers, were no match for the power of the Vajra Devilish Arts. They exploded mid-air before the fists pulverized hundreds of green beasts into paste.

With a flicker, Han Li vanished again, reappearing directly above the two demons.

Below, the demons stood back-to-back, desperately fending off the relentless horde with their magic and treasures. While the ordinary beasts posed little threat, the green beasts and silver beasts left them with no room to counterattack, teetering on the brink of being overwhelmed.

“I can save you—but in return, you must do something for me,” Han Li said coolly.

“Agreed! Our lives are yours if you save us!” the demonic man shouted without hesitation.

In that brief moment, a silver beast broke through his defenses, leaving deep gashes on his shoulder that nearly exposed bone. The elderly demon also frantically agreed.

Han Li grinned, and with a thunderous roar, crystalline blue-white wings unfurled from his back. A single flap summoned countless blue-white lightning orbs, which vanished alongside him.

The two demons below only heard earth-shaking booms as silver arcs of lightning wove through the air, forming a massive net that descended upon the beasts.

In an instant, arcs of electricity danced among the horde, exploding into bursts of lightning that turned the battlefield into a sea of thunder.

Miraculously, the two demons remained unharmed, shielded by a dense curtain of lightning.

Most of the demon beasts were reduced to ashes, and those that survived were severely scorched, retaining only a fraction of their strength. The remaining beasts, thoroughly terrified, turned and fled.

“Senior, destroy the Silver-Necked Beasts! If you eliminate these high-tier beasts, the horde will collapse, and no new Beast King will emerge for a century!” the demonic man urgently pleaded.

“Silver-Necked Beasts?”

Han Li narrowed his eyes, scanning the dozen or so battered silver beasts fleeing into the distance.

Each of these beasts possessed early-stage Void Refinement strength and had survived the lightning strike. Eliminating them all would require another attack.

With a mere thought, Han Li formed another hand seal.

A soft *whoosh* sounded as a golden, three-headed, six-armed Dharma Form materialized behind him.

The moment it appeared, it swelled to over thirty feet tall, its six golden eyes snapping open in unison.
