Chapter 2139: Sixfold Azure Thunder Formation

The gray-robed man flicked his sleeves and vanished in a flash of light.

Two days later, Han Li once again left Blue Waterfall City by beast-drawn carriage, heading straight for the lakeside Guangyuan Zhai.

In the pavilion deep within the dense forest, Han Li met Lan Ying again. After spending several hours with her in a secret chamber, he emerged with a mysterious smile and leisurely returned to the city.

This time, as soon as Han Li entered the inn, he secluded himself for several days without stepping out.

Since he had paid for a month’s worth of spirit stones upon arrival, the other demons in the inn initially paid little attention. However, as the final days of the month approached and there was still no movement from Han Li’s room, the other demons began to take notice.

On the very last day, a demon serving as an inn attendant cautiously knocked on the door and entered, only to find the room completely empty.

Han Li sat cross-legged on a dark-gray flying chariot, meditating with his eyes closed.

Opposite him, a fair-skinned young man and a beautiful young girl sat in other corners of the chariot. One was as still as a wooden statue, expressionless, while the other’s eyes darted around restlessly.

These were Crab Daoist and Zhu Guo’er.

After Han Li quietly left the island that day, he arrived at the prearranged meeting spot, retrieved the two, and set off without delay.

After several days of flight, they had left the Blue Waterfall Lake region and entered another part of the demon world.

With this, Han Li felt a weight lift from his mind.

Having achieved his goals, he now planned to leave the demon world and return to the spirit realm.

According to the plan discussed with the Long Family Patriarch and others, they would not return the same way. Instead, once they succeeded in the Demon Source Sea, they would use another explored demon world passage to return to the spirit realm.

As the Long Family Patriarch had explained, this passage was located in a remote part of the demon world with few high-ranking demons guarding it. Moreover, the spirit realm exit was not in the territory of humans or demons but in the adjacent Wood Clan’s domain.

Thus, if they could surprise the demon guards and break through the passage, they would face little resistance.

Now that the Long Family Patriarch and the others had perished, Han Li still intended to follow the original plan.

After all, the other passages’ destinations were unknown. If one led to another continent in the spirit realm, it would be a bitter irony.

He had no desire to spend another century or two trying to return to human lands.

Yet, the thought of Zi Ling still pained him.

To say he felt nothing for her would be a lie. After so many years apart, their reunion had been brief, and now they were forced to separate again. The emotions were too complex to put into words.

Of course, if not for the fact that Zi Ling’s demonic cultivation was under Liu Ji’s control, he would have taken her back to the spirit realm and sought a way to purge the demonic energy from her body, restoring her human spirit form.

For now, Zi Ling would have to remain in the demon world.

As Han Li silently reflected, memories of his time in the human realm surfaced, and another peerlessly beautiful face appeared in his mind, stirring his heart.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Han Li suddenly stirred and opened his eyes, a sharp glint flashing within them.

Almost simultaneously, the flying chariot’s glow dimmed and came to an abrupt halt, hovering motionless in the sky.

“Senior Han, what’s wrong?” Zhu Guo’er jumped up in surprise.

Crab Daoist, however, remained seated, his expression unchanged.

“It seems we’ve inadvertently entered a super formation. This formation is extremely well-hidden—I didn’t notice it until it was too late,” Han Li said slowly, standing up with a slight frown.

“A super formation even you didn’t detect? Could it be targeting us?” Zhu Guo’er grew uneasy.

“Brother Crab, what do you think of this formation?” Han Li ignored Zhu Guo’er’s question and turned to Crab Daoist instead.

Crab Daoist opened his eyes and surveyed their surroundings before calmly replying, “This appears to be the Sixfold Azure Thunder Formation, though it’s somewhat incomplete. If I were you, I’d press forward to the formation’s core. While it’s the most dangerous spot, it’s also the only way out.”

After speaking, Crab Daoist fell silent again, his expression wooden.

“The Sixfold Azure Thunder Formation? I’ve never heard of it, but if Brother Crab says so, it’s likely correct. Let’s proceed. Whether it’s targeting us or not, now that we’re trapped, our only option is to break through,” Han Li said decisively after a brief pause.

He lightly tapped the chariot with his foot, causing gray light to erupt and form a protective barrier around it.

The chariot trembled and shot forward like a rainbow, its speed doubling instantly.

Zhu Guo’er widened her eyes, scanning their surroundings for any signs of the formation, but the space around them appeared empty and normal.

“Don’t bother. Your cultivation isn’t high enough to see through the illusionary barriers,” Han Li said.

He flicked his sleeve, and a golden sword aura shot out.

With a thunderous boom, the space ahead shattered like paper, revealing an endless sea of white mist.

The chariot now struggled to advance through the thick fog.

“Ah, this is—” Zhu Guo’er gasped in shock.

“This is just the beginning. If we’d tried to retreat earlier, the formation’s lethal traps would have activated. We wouldn’t be having such a peaceful time now,” Han Li explained calmly.

“Even so, the Sixfold Azure Thunder Formation’s attacks will soon begin. Given your abilities, Senior Han, you should still be cautious,” Crab Daoist added, his eyes still closed.

“Thank you for the warning, Brother Crab. I’ll be careful,” Han Li said, nodding. He raised both hands, and dozens of glowing objects—tiny formation flags and disks—shot out and vanished into the chariot.

Black demonic patterns surged from the chariot’s surface, forming intricate arrays that solidified on its walls as if they’d always been there.

With the formation in place, Han Li stood at the chariot’s front, gazing into the distance. His pupils glowed with a piercing blue light as he peered through the mist.

Suddenly, his expression darkened. He formed a hand seal and began chanting.

The black patterns on the chariot’s walls flashed, and countless runes surged forth, weaving into a dense black net that enveloped the gray barrier.

Soon, faint thunder rumbled from the previously calm mist. As the white fog began churning like waves, the thunder grew louder, and arcs of green lightning flickered within it.

Simultaneously, the mist thickened like quicksand, slowing the chariot’s advance.

Han Li snorted and spat out a stream of azure energy, which vanished into the chariot. His feet glowed with green light as he channeled vast amounts of spiritual power into the vehicle.

The chariot hummed, and the black rune net shuddered, shattering the nearby mist. Its speed surged again, shooting forward like an arrow.

As the chariot accelerated, the green lightning in the mist coalesced into countless serpents, lashing out at the chariot.

Each strike made the black net tremble, its runes flickering. Under hundreds of simultaneous strikes, the net quivered violently, seemingly on the verge of collapse.

Han Li ignored this, focusing solely on propelling the chariot forward.

With a muffled pop, the black net shattered, and dozens of green lightning bolts struck the chariot unimpeded.

Han Li’s brows twitched, and his fingers flicked outward. Golden lightning erupted from his fingertips, forming a net that intercepted and shattered the green arcs.

In the brief respite, the black patterns on the chariot flared again, weaving a new protective net.

Though the green lightning was formidable, Han Li effortlessly neutralized it with a combination of formation power and his Divine Devilbane Lightning.

Soon, the chariot had traversed thousands of miles. The mist ahead thinned, but the green lightning grew denser, suggesting they were nearing the formation’s core.

Before long, fist-sized green thunderballs appeared amidst the lightning, hovering silently without joining the attack.

Then, from the thinning mist ahead, a woman’s voice rang out:

“Elder Sister Baohua, you’ve exhausted all your tricks. Even with your great abilities, you cannot escape now. If you surrender, I may spare a wisp of your soul out of past affection, allowing you to reincarnate.”
