Chapter 2389: Ambush

“I never expected a True Immortal to chase us like a mad dog. But don’t worry, as long as we have the spirit liquid, he won’t be able to do anything to us.” Six-Wings opened his eyes and spoke with a trace of resentment.

“That’s because you provoked him with your words earlier, making him hate you to the bone. That’s why he’s chasing us relentlessly.” Frost Li snorted.

“What do you know? If I hadn’t disrupted his mind with my words, we wouldn’t have had the chance to use that secret technique to create distance in the first place. If it comes to it, we’ll just leave this continent and return to Wind Origin. I refuse to believe he’d chase us all the way to another continent.” Six-Wings said coldly.

“Leaving Blood Heaven—that’s actually a good idea. As a True Immortal, he must have important business here. If we escape to Wind Origin, he might hesitate to pursue us further.” Frost Li’s eyes brightened.

“If that’s the case, then all the better.” Six-Wings nodded grimly.

After resting for most of the day, the two dared not linger in the mountain any longer. Transforming into two streaks of light, they shot out from the hill and resumed their flight.

But this time, as soon as their escape light circled in the air, four faint figures suddenly materialized around them, exuding terrifying auras.

Startled, Six-Wings and Frost Li halted their flight, revealing their forms mid-air as they scrutinized the newcomers.

The four figures—two men and two women—were dressed differently, yet all possessed the cultivation of Mahayana.

“What is the meaning of this? Are you targeting us?” Six-Wings narrowed his eyes and demanded.

“You must be Six-Wings. If so, then yes, we are indeed here for you,” said a blue-faced man in a blood-red robe, his tone eerily calm.

“Oh? You recognize me? I don’t recall offending any fellow Mahayana cultivators in Blood Heaven.” Six-Wings’ expression flickered slightly, but his voice remained icy.

“Don’t misunderstand. We’re not here to cause trouble. We merely wish to ask for your help with a small matter,” the blue-faced man replied with a faint smile.

“Help? Is this how you ask for help? What if I refuse?”

Already seething from the relentless pursuit, Six-Wings could no longer suppress his fury at the four’s ominous demeanor. A flash of murderous intent crossed his eyes.

If their answer didn’t satisfy him, he might just attack on the spot.

With his formidable escape technique, even if he couldn’t defeat all four, fleeing with Frost Li would be effortless.

“No need for anger, Six-Wings. The favor we ask will benefit not only us but also yourself. Aren’t you currently being hunted?” The blue-faced man remained unperturbed, speaking with confidence.

“What do you mean by that?” Six-Wings’ heart skipped a beat, his earlier ferocity vanishing.

“It’s simple. We want you to lure your pursuer to a specific location. Once he follows you there, he’ll never return. A win-win, don’t you think?” the blue-faced man said lightly.

“You plan to ambush him?” Six-Wings was genuinely shocked.

“Precisely. But to succeed, we’ll need your cooperation,” the man admitted frankly.

Frost Li, standing nearby, was equally astonished.

“Do you even know who’s chasing us? Just the four of you?” Six-Wings sneered after a moment of hesitation.

“Who said it’s just us? Regardless of his origins, if he dares to slaughter millions in Blood Heaven, even a True Immortal won’t leave this continent alive,” the blue-faced man declared with pride.

“Ha! Good, very good. With that assurance, I’ll help you.” Six-Wings burst into laughter and agreed without hesitation.

Though the blue-faced man found Six-Wings’ reaction odd, he dismissed it, tossing a jade slip toward him.

“It contains the exact location. Lure him there, and he’ll meet his end. I trust you won’t disappoint us,” the man said meaningfully.

“Rest assured, for my own sake, I won’t fail.” Six-Wings regained his composure, catching the slip calmly.

“Excellent. Then we wish you success. We have other matters to attend to and must take our leave.” The blue-faced man clasped his hands and vanished with the others in a ripple of energy.

Six-Wings remained still, deep in thought.

“Six-Wings, are you really going to be the bait?” Frost Li asked abruptly.

“If it rids us of this threat, why not? It’s better than risking everything to return to Wind Origin,” Six-Wings replied slowly.

“But you saw how he slaughtered three Mahayana cultivators in an instant. Do you really think these people can kill a madman from the Immortal Realm?” Frost Li voiced her doubts.

“Didn’t you hear him? ‘Even a True Immortal won’t leave alive.’ If they dare say that, they must have prepared extensively—though they likely don’t realize their target truly is a True Immortal. Fine by me. If they want to use me as bait, let them fight to mutual destruction.” Six-Wings smirked.

“But what if the madman escapes the ambush? He’s no fool—if he realizes the trap, his rage will be unimaginable. If he stops toying with us and fights seriously, our situation will be far worse,” Frost Li countered.

“I’ve considered that. Even if he’s a True Immortal, his power is mostly sealed. Against so many Mahayana cultivators launching a surprise attack, even if he survives, he’ll be severely weakened. By then, he’ll need time to recover and won’t bother chasing us. This is our best chance to break free—worth the risk.” Six-Wings’ voice was icy.

This time, Frost Li seemed convinced. After a pause, she nodded.

“Good. Then let’s see where they plan to ambush him.” Six-Wings pressed the jade slip to his forehead, scanning it with his divine sense.

“Let’s go. I know the location. That madman should be catching up soon.” Without hesitation, Six-Wings soared into the sky as a streak of light.

With a sigh, Frost Li transformed into a crystalline phoenix and followed.

Far above, a frail-looking black-robed youth leisurely rode a colorful cloud in the same direction.

Meanwhile, at an altar, Han Li, having just completed a spell, opened his eyes in delight.

“Found it! The altar has revealed the coordinates to the Minor Spirit Realm’s entrance.”

“Senior Han, is it true?” Zhu Guo’er, who had assisted in the ritual, perked up immediately.

“Indeed. All this time hasn’t been wasted.” Han Li smiled, dispersing the spell. The massive disk-shaped light screen above the altar vanished.

“Senior Han, shall we head there now?” Zhu Guo’er asked eagerly.

“Not so fast. According to the Blood Heaven map, the entrance isn’t on the continent but deep beneath the ocean, far from land.” Han Li frowned, recalling the geography.

“What? Under the sea? That’ll be hard to find,” Zhu Guo’er exclaimed.

“Don’t worry. I anticipated this. Hua Shi, you’ll need to contribute more.” Han Li turned to the silent Hua Shi.

“Master, the underwater world is like land to me. Leave the search to me,” Hua Shi replied respectfully.

Satisfied, Han Li nodded. With a sweep of light, he and the other two soared into the sky, landing on the giant vessel.

Moments later, the black ship hummed and shot into the distance.

Seven days later, in a hidden desert, a masked man stood atop a dune, gazing coldly at the sky.

Beneath him, the sand had been excavated, revealing tens of thousands of elite Blood Path disciples standing in eerie silence.

A massive formation, covering nearly half the desert, was already inscribed, embedded with thousands of top-grade spirit stones. Special disciples holding array disks sat quietly near each node.

High above, concealed by an invisible barrier, another colossal formation lay in wait, manned by over a dozen Blood Heaven Mahayana cultivators.

All was ready. They only awaited their prey.
