Chapter 8: Late-Night Snack

The door was locked from inside, so Xia Yu couldn’t open it. He kicked it twice with force but received no response.

If Youxue had gotten the phone, she definitely wouldn’t have said nothing about it. Without a doubt, someone must have taken it, and only Xia Dongyang had the possibility.

Calling the man’s name a couple more times, Xia Yu still received no reply.

Xia Dongyang must be inside the room, since his shoes were still outside. Given his financial status, he wouldn’t allow himself to sleep outside in another hotel room.

Before leaving the door, Xia Yu went to the balcony of the living room, looking toward the balcony of the master bedroom.

There was a half-meter distance between the balcony of the master bedroom and that of the living room. Due to the stuffy weather, the window was open.

Climbing onto the window, Xia Yu reached out and grabbed the edge of the master bedroom window, flipping himself inside.

He immediately spotted Xia Dongyang. The man was holding a rolling pin, peering out through the door crack.

Approaching from behind, Xia Yu kicked him hard.

“Ouch!” Xia Dongyang cried out in pain as he quickly turned around.

Seeing Xia Yu, he first looked confused and somewhat panicked. Then, looking at the rolling pin in his hand, his panicked expression disappeared, and he raised the rolling pin.

If Xia Yu hadn’t gained agility from the black cat, he might have struggled a bit, taken some hits, and required more effort to subdue Xia Dongyang. But now, he was no longer the same as before.

Dodging the rolling pin, Xia Yu grabbed Xia Dongyang’s wrist, twisted it forcefully, and pinned him to the ground.

“Wait, wait, wait! I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Xia Dongyang pleaded.

Ignoring his pleas, Xia Yu punched him in the waist.

Xia Yu wanted to punch his face instead, but considering the man’s ridiculous pride, he made some concessions.

“Where’s the phone?” Xia Yu asked.

He felt nervous now. He had left the phone on Youxue’s desk last night, meaning Xia Dongyang must have taken it the previous evening. That gave him enough time to dispose of it.

Although Xia Yu could beat him up, he couldn’t force him to pay compensation.

Luckily, Xia Dongyang hadn’t dealt with the phone yet.

“In the drawer, in the drawer!” The man confessed honestly.

Opening the drawer of the TV cabinet, Xia Yu saw the phone box, inside which the phone and accessories were intact.

Putting the phone box away, Xia Yu approached Xia Dongyang again.

“Never enter Youxue’s room again,” he warned the man.

“You went in directly too!” Xia Dongyang stubbornly retorted.

“I can, but you can’t!”

Seeing Xia Yu’s clenched fist, Xia Dongyang shut his mouth.

Xia Yu stared at him for a while longer until the man began to avoid his gaze, then he opened the door and walked out.

Getting up from the floor, Xia Dongyang held his waist, grimacing in pain.

A question surfaced in his mind: How had that kid gotten in?

Looking in the direction from which Xia Yu had attacked him, he noticed the open window and the balcony of the living room beside it.

This was the fourth floor, for God’s sake!

But no matter how impressive, he was still his son.

Using a mental victory strategy, Xia Dongyang eased his stress. He walked to the bed, took out some ointment, and skillfully applied it to his waist.

After finishing, he heard the sound of the front door opening from the living room.

It was Youxue returning.

“Brother, here’s your eraser,” the girl handed the eraser to Xia Yu, then took out the remaining money, “and the money.”

“Keep the money,” Xia Yu took the eraser.

“Thank you, brother.” Youxue’s eyes gleamed with happiness. Her pocket money always came from Xia Yu.

“And this,” Xia Yu handed her the phone box.

Taking the phone box, Youxue looked incredulous. She opened the box and saw the white phone inside.

“Brother is the best!” Grabbing the phone, the girl hugged Xia Yu.

Patting Youxue’s head, Xia Yu’s mood, ruined by Xia Dongyang, improved again.

Eager to use the phone, Youxue rushed back to her bedroom to start operating it.

After a while, she ran out again.

“Brother, can you teach me?” The girl looked troubled.

Xia Yu first downloaded a penguin chat app for Youxue, created an account, added his own, placed it under the family category, and then started downloading other necessary software, teaching the girl how to use them.

By 4 p.m., Youxue’s excitement had finally subsided.

Returning to his room, Xia Yu played for a while himself. At six o’clock, he logged into the game on schedule, taking over An Siyao’s body.

After a moment of darkness, he saw a black piano.

Right now, he was in the piano room.

“You’re back!” An Siyao’s voice, filled with delight, echoed in his mind.

“???”

Where had this “back home” tone come from?

Hesitating slightly, Xia Yu replied with a simple “Hmm.”

“Did something happen last night?” An Siyao asked why Xia Yu hadn’t come last night.

“Last night’s ritual had a slight problem,” Xia Yu casually replied while playing the piano, getting used to the feel.

“Nothing serious, right?” The girl’s voice was filled with concern.

“No problem, I just accidentally blew up the moon,” Xia Yu joked casually.

“Don’t try to trick me. There was clearly a moon last night!” An Siyao happily believed she had seen through Xia Yu’s lie.

“It was the moon in my timeline,” Xia Yu casually added another explanation.

An Siyao fell silent. She couldn’t determine whether Xia Yu was telling the truth or lying.

“Come on, let’s start the lesson,” Xia Yu urged the girl.

Five hours later, he stretched his arms.

It was already 11 p.m., and he felt hungry.

The previous two times, he had felt hunger around this time, but due to the excitement of the body-swapping game, he had ignored the feeling.

“How do I call the maid?” Xia Yu asked An Siyao.

“There’s an app on the phone. Just tap it,” the girl instructed.

A minute later, the maid Xia Yu had met before entered the piano room.

“Get me something to eat,” Xia Yu said.

“Miss, your nutritionist’s customized diet doesn’t include snacks,” the maid replied coldly.

Slowly lowering his hand from the piano keys, Xia Yu stopped playing.

In the piano room, there was complete silence.

Thud—

Xia Yu closed the piano lid. The sudden sound made the maid’s heart jump. Then, Xia Yu’s icy gaze turned toward her, making her shiver.

“I… I’ll have the kitchen prepare something right away,” the maid hurried out of the room nervously.

Chuckling softly, Xia Yu opened the piano lid again and continued practicing.

In this life, because his father, Xia Dongyang, was a thug, he had interacted with many thugs before. He knew how to use facial expressions and atmosphere to pressure others.

From gradually stopping his hands, suddenly closing the piano lid, to silently staring, it was a psychological tactic. Missing any step in the sequence wouldn’t achieve the desired effect.

The downside of this method was that it took too long and heavily relied on the unequal relationship between the two parties, making it less convenient and practical than the black cat’s intimidation skill.

After a while, the maid brought a bowl of porridge and nervously retreated out of the room.

“You’re amazing,” An Siyao envied Xia Yu’s ability to intimidate the maid.

“You’re just too weak,” Xia Yu replied while eating the porridge.

The girl changed the subject: “You improved so quickly today.”

Her words weren’t flattery. Xia Yu felt his fingers had become much more nimble.

Now, he could already clumsily play a famous piece in this world, the “Gudake Exercise.”

After finishing his meal, the maid came to collect the dishes.

Before exiting the room, the maid glanced at Xia Yu’s back, thinking to herself:

The head maid would be back soon. Let’s see how you handle her!
