Chapter 44: Mother Xia

In Xia Yu’s hand was still a skewer of meat, which he was brushing while talking about the basic operations.

“You guys almost scared me to death just now. Who would have thought those silly guys would actually dare to start a fight!” a boy said, patting his chest.

“Yeah, have those guys gone crazy?” a girl was also shaken.

“It’s you guys who are crazy. How could you provoke a group of people at a roadside eatery? Who do you think you are?” Xia Yu commented, “You should be grateful the other party were middle-aged men around thirty. If they were young guys around twenty, not even throwing diamonds on the ground would save you.”

Everyone then looked at Jiao Heyu.

“It was them who provoked me first!” Jiao Heyu weakly defended himself.

“Why did you have to curse back? Why didn’t you just slap them in the face with your money?” Xia Yu sighed, thinking they were still too young.

“Right! In the novels I’ve read, this is exactly the time when you casually show off your million-dollar watch, your multi-million-dollar luxury car, or even directly summon the owner of the roadside eatery, buy the whole place, and tell those guys to scram!” an excited boy said.

“Buying the whole eatery? Brilliant!”

“Why didn’t you say so earlier!”

The group found a new topic and headed to a barbecue restaurant, chatting enthusiastically.

Xia Yu quietly ate his skewers, thinking that this outing was definitely worth it.

An Siyao didn’t have much alcohol tolerance. After drinking a bit, Xia Yu now felt a little dizzy, so he didn’t notice Shen Xiaowen and Jiao Heyu secretly watching him.

Shen Xiaowen recalled the scene of Xia Yu suddenly stepping in, taking down the shirtless man, and waving money for over a dozen people to kneel and pick it up, feeling her face heat up.

She thought again of Xia Yu reaching into her chest to pull out her wallet, and her body grew warm.

She thought: Compared to the barking impotent Jiao Heyu, An Siyao is much cooler!

Meanwhile, Jiao Heyu also had a similar realization, but unlike Shen Xiaowen’s infatuation, Jiao Heyu felt a bit scared.

That shirtless guy was broad-shouldered and strong-waisted, yet An Siyao took him down in one move. If it were himself, he would be lying on the ground calling an ambulance in half a move.

If he were to date An Siyao, wouldn’t he spend the rest of his life in the misery of domestic violence!

His secret affection was instantly extinguished.

From now on, Brother Yao would be his best buddy!

The two redefined An Siyao’s position and began to eagerly serve Xia Yu.

At ten o’clock, the group took a taxi back to the villa. They had all drunk a bit, and driving drunk was dangerous.

In the car, Xia Yu felt uneasy. He had overestimated An Siyao’s alcohol tolerance. Now his head was very dizzy, and he was extremely tired.

Halfway, he couldn’t hold on and dozed off.

When they arrived, Jiao Heyu wanted to reach out to carry Xia Yu, but was slapped away by Shen Xiaowen.

“I’ll carry him!” Shen Xiaowen said fiercely.

Jiao Heyu rubbed his slapped wrist, feeling somewhat wronged.

If you want to carry him, then carry him. Why hit me? You’ve never been this harsh with me before!

He watched Shen Xiaowen and another girl help Xia Yu up and walk toward the villa.

Still somewhat conscious, Xia Yu saw that the people helping him were two girls, and he fell asleep with relief.

When he woke up, he had already returned to his own body.

Recalling the joy of the barbecue last night, Xia Yu felt hungry.

He put on his clothes and went out to continue eating skewers.

On his way back, he didn’t forget to bring a sausage to the black cat.

Feeding the sausage to the meowing black cat, he yawned and continued sleeping in.

After waking up in the morning and finishing his morning routine, Xia Yu took out his phone and edited a text message.

“Mom, can I come over on Friday night? I have something to talk to you about.”

To successfully deceive An Siyao during the music instrument competition, he needed his mother’s help.

Soon, a reply came.

“Sure, come for dinner.”

Ten seconds later, another message arrived.

“Don’t bring Xia Youxue.”

Rubbing his head, Xia Yu replied that he would arrive around six.

Putting the phone back in his pocket, he thought about how to keep Youxue from finding out.

In this life, the woman who was his mother was named Kong Hanyue, a fairly responsible mother, though she had some psychological issues.

Kong Hanyue had originally fallen in love with Xia Dongyang and gotten married through free will. If it weren’t for her psychological issues, how could she have chosen such an unreliable man as Xia Dongyang?

She was an aggressive hedonist. During their dating period, Xia Dongyang took her everywhere for fun every day, so she thought Xia Dongyang was her ideal match.

However, after their marriage, Xia Dongyang, having squandered his parents’ fortune, faced financial difficulties. Coupled with the fading novelty of romance, Xia Dongyang became increasingly disrespectful toward her, making her life harder.

Nine years ago, Kong Hanyue finally couldn’t take it anymore and divorced Xia Dongyang, leaving with nothing.

She hated Youxue partly because of Youxue’s childhood behavior.

Children don’t know anything and are naturally annoying. Xia Dongyang wouldn’t lay a hand on the young Youxue, so he vented his anger on her.

While resenting Xia Dongyang, she blamed Youxue.

It was also Xia Yu’s fault. When he was young, he was too well-behaved. He never caused Kong Hanyue any trouble and even stopped Xia Dongyang from hitting Youxue several times. In contrast, Kong Hanyue decided that Youxue was misbehaving.

When she wanted to divorce, Xia Dongyang tried to get Xia Yu and Youxue to stop her. Xia Yu ignored him and even supported her, while Youxue, scared by Xia Dongyang’s words, cried and shouted not to let her leave. This incident also upset Kong Hanyue.

The most serious issue was when Kong Hanyue concealed the fact that she had already been married and had children, and married another man. After marriage, she coincidentally met Youxue on the street. Youxue excitedly called her name, letting her husband know the truth, which almost led to a divorce.

Combined with all these incidents, Kong Hanyue had always held resentment against Youxue.

Of course, Xia Yu stood on Youxue’s side. But Kong Hanyue only disliked Youxue, treating Xia Yu relatively well, even sending him gifts on his birthday every time.

Otherwise, Xia Yu wouldn’t have gone to her for help.

After thinking through this matter, Xia Yu began to recall the evening’s plans.

Tonight was An Siyao’s stepmother’s birthday banquet. He wondered what delicious food would be served at the banquet.

At four in the afternoon in Fangzhang City.

Jiao Heyu and four others were walking in the garden. They had also invited An Siyao, but the An Siyao not possessed by Xia Yu rejected them.

Accompanying them was a young man.

The young man was the teacher who had previously harassed Feng Yumo and was rebuked by Xia Yu.

“I remember you’re a teacher at Dongzhi Xueyuan?” Shen Xiaowen asked the young man.

After the young man confirmed, she excitedly asked, “What’s An Siyao like at school?”

Not only her, but the other four people also looked at the young man with interest.

The young man recalled the relationship between the five people in front of him and An Siyao, and after confirming that they were not close, he began to plot in his mind.

These five people were all children of An Group’s shareholders. Although individually their shares weren’t as much as An Siyao’s father’s, together they could control the An Group.

The opportunity for revenge for the previous restaurant incident had come!
