Chapter 416: Xu Youxiang: Double Kill!

“Got it? Whose? How far along?” Xu Mu asked anxiously.

Xu Youxiang put down the game controller and picked up her phone. “I have a boyfriend now!”

“Oh, that kind of ‘got it.'” Xu Mu looked somewhat disappointed at first, but quickly regained her enthusiasm. “Then I won’t come back. You should bring him for me to meet!”

Xia Yu also put down the controller and began eavesdropping attentively.

An Siyao seized the opportunity to take Xia Yu’s controller and continued playing with his character.

“You haven’t even settled things yet; what are you going to meet for?” Xu Youxiang sounded annoyed as she glanced at Xia Yu.

“Then just let me observe from a distance while you’re on a date with him,” Xu Mu began making plans.

“No need. Just go back and rest assured,” Xu Youxiang hung up the phone.

Picking up the game controller again, she caught up with Xia Yu’s character in the game and attacked it with a chainsaw.

At that moment, An Siyao was controlling Xia Yu’s character, who didn’t resist at all and was dismembered by Xu Youxiang.

“Alright, let’s start a new round,” Xu Youxiang said, clearly still wanting more.

The three continued playing until evening, after which they had dinner, and then Xu Youxiang returned to her room.

They were currently living in Yu Liang’s penthouse duplex. Yu Liang had returned to Nanming for work, so the house was occupied by Xia Yu, An Siyao, Xu Youxiang, and three maids.

You Xue had been sent back to Apang because of her schooling, where she lived in An Siyao’s villa in Apang, accompanied by many maids.

After returning to his room, Xia Yu video-called You Xue for half an hour, then climbed into bed, clicked on the game, and entered Wen Ziying’s world.

It was already March, and Wen Ziying had completed her new novel, submitting it to the publisher. It would be released the next day.

When Xia Yu arrived, Wen Ziying was watching a horror movie.

To ease her fear, the girl had turned on every light in the room and was playing “Congratulations” music loudly on her phone.

“Can you even get into it like this?” Xia Yu pressed the phone, pausing the cheerful music, which had completely drowned out the horror movie’s background sound.

“Of course I can feel it! When it gets to the instrumental part, hearing the horror sounds is really scary!” Wen Ziying described her fear.

Sitting on the bed, Xia Yu accompanied Wen Ziying to finish watching the horror movie.

It was a film that couldn’t even be considered a story. In one sentence, it was about a group of people investigating a haunted town and then all dying.

There was no clear cause or effect, no twists and turns—purely meant to scare people.

But the scary scenes were indeed thrilling.

Wen Ziying couldn’t accept the ending, grumbling: “They said they were going to investigate. What did they find out? They just discovered that the ghost came from a house, and then it ended?”

Xia Yu grabbed a notebook, logged onto a review site, and checked the rating: 6.2 out of 10.

“You should at least check the reviews before watching,” he said to Wen Ziying.

“Whatever, forget it. Let’s go outside and get some excitement,” Wen Ziying suggested.

Xia Yu could sense that Wen Ziying was restless; her anxiety didn’t come from the horror movie but was an existing emotion.

After all, her horror-comedy novel was about to be released the next day.

Standing up, Xia Yu used Wen Ziying’s body to wander around outside in the dark, giving Wen Ziying a little thrill before returning home.

Lying on the bed and sensing Wen Ziying’s ongoing tension, Xia Yu comforted her: “If it flops, I’ll find you another job.”

“You think I’m worried about it flopping?” Wen Ziying replied.

“???” Xia Yu was taken aback.

“I’m worried about it becoming a sudden hit again!” Wen Ziying expressed her concern.

“…If you don’t want to work, why not just stop writing?” Xia Yu couldn’t understand Wen Ziying’s logic.

“No, I’m afraid I won’t be able to resist the urge to write again later!” Wen Ziying’s tone was firm.

Xia Yu thought of Wen Ziying’s mother, who had left the literary world after her works became wildly popular and later wanted to make a comeback, casting a shadow over Wen Ziying.

“Don’t worry, this book will definitely flop,” Xia Yu chose the right way to comfort her. “I’ve never seen a horror-comedy novel become popular.”

“I hope so,” Wen Ziying sighed. “Let’s sleep.”

Xia Yu tucked her in and fell asleep.

The next morning, Xia Yu returned to his own body.

After brushing his teeth and taking a shower, he hugged An Siyao, then logged into Xu Youxiang’s body to continue his research for the day.

At four in the afternoon, Xia Yu exited the lab and stretched.

“Got any plans today?” Xia Yu asked Xu Youxiang.

“I need to video call my mom,” Xu Youxiang declined, knowing that Xia Yu wanted to play games with her.

Since Xu Youxiang was busy, Xia Yu turned to An Siyao.

“Sure,” An Siyao immediately agreed.

However, half an hour later, Yu Ningmeng appeared in front of Xia Yu.

Grabbing Xia Yu’s collar, Yu Ningmeng angrily said: “Siyao promised to take a bath with me tonight. It’s been six months since we last bathed together. How could you be so cruel!”

“Well, can I join you?” Xia Yu replied. Without company, he didn’t feel like playing games either.

“Take a bath with you?” Yu Ningmeng hesitated slightly. “That might not be appropriate, especially with Siyao there. Let’s find another time alone.”

“Sorry, I didn’t realize you meant taking a bath. Just take Siyao with you. Goodbye.” Xia Yu pushed Yu Ningmeng out the door and shut it.

He scratched his chin thoughtfully. Now that both of them were occupied, who could he hang out with?

Liu Manman was an option, but she wasn’t in Yaoguang; she was in Apang.

Maybe he could log into You Xue’s body and play with Liu Manman?

No, better not. You Xue was busy with school and rarely had free time; he shouldn’t disturb her.

With no one to accompany him, Xia Yu sat alone in the living room playing games.

At seven in the evening, his phone rang.

Picking it up, he saw an unfamiliar number.

He hung up. Ten minutes later, the phone rang again, still the same number.

Pressing the answer button, Xia Yu was puzzled about who it was.

“Can I come to your place?” a female voice asked.

“How much per night?” Xia Yu asked.

“Huh?” the voice was confused.

Not that kind of service? Xia Yu thought in his mind and identified the voice’s owner.

“Never mind, I was talking to someone else,” Xia Yu coughed. “Is this Zhu Mei? What do you need me for?”

“Can I come to your place?” Zhu Mei repeated.

“No way,” Xia Yu refused. Even if Xu Youxiang wasn’t at home, he couldn’t agree.

“It won’t disturb you at all,” Zhu Mei added.

Without explaining, Xia Yu still refused.

The girl on the phone fell silent, and after more than ten seconds, sobbing sounds were heard.

“What’s wrong?” Xia Yu was surprised.
