Chapter 263: Nothing Special

Night could not penetrate the horde of natives, and thus, he remained oblivious to the distant battle raging between the beasts and the tribes. However, it seemed that the monstrous beasts and the tribes did not coexist harmoniously, even on the shores of the Pool of All Beings.

The waters of the Pool of All Beings surged, and once again, a wave of desire crashed down. This time, the area covered extended far beyond the borders, sweeping thousands of tribesmen off their feet in an instant. The six-armed giant in the distance roared in fury, but to no avail; every warrior it sent was knocked down by the waves.

Roaring in frustration, it eventually withdrew its warriors to a safer distance from the border. In just those few clashes, it had lost tens of thousands of two-armed humans and hundreds of four-armed warriors.

Faced with such heavy losses, even the volatile six-armed giant had no choice but to concede, abandoning its plan to advance towards the Pool of All Beings.

Night bowed his body and moved slowly, concealing all his energy. After the retreat of the native army, another two waves of desire washed over him, though this time, they were much weaker. Night held his ground without flinching.

On the border, chaos reigned as the natives rolled and tumbled. Night, using his bloodline to hide, blended seamlessly into the crowd. It would be nearly impossible to find him among the confusion, relying solely on senses.

The presence in the water seemed exhausted, barely managing to go through the motions. After two unsuccessful sweeps for Night, it fell silent, showing no further signs of activity.

Night slowly approached the pool, then began to sneak along the edge, planning to slowly escape the encirclement of the natives. The night had just begun, and he had plenty of time.

In a distant area resembling a forest of a thousand needle-like rocks, two figures provided mutual cover, engaging in a deadly dance with the tribes. One was graceful and swift, yet her strikes were devastating, even four-armed warriors would crumble under her blows. The other moved like lightning, her aura freezing the air around her, causing the natives to slow down and fall easily.

These two were Jitianqing and Li Kuanglan. After separating and fleeing, they did not return to the fortress but instead appeared near the Pool of All Beings.

The rock formations were incredibly complex, each pillar a natural obstacle. The two women moved like fish in water, advancing and retreating freely, quickly felling over a hundred tribesmen.

However, their faces were grim. After dispatching a two-armed human, Li Kuanglan couldn’t help but say, “We can’t do this, there are too many of them!”

“Endure,” Jitianqing replied, fighting silently.

But Li Kuanglan wouldn’t be silenced. “We should have fled to the fortress, but you insisted on coming here.”

Jitianqing responded bluntly, “Only here do we have a chance. The divination results were clear, and you agreed, didn’t you?”

“My divination…” Li Kuanglan sighed, dispatching a few more two-armed humans. “Since we’re here, let’s hope… he’s already left.”

“Let’s hope so.”

They fought in silence, their strength waning. Jitianqing glanced toward the Pool of All Beings, her face slightly flushed, and gritted her teeth in determination.

“Are you afraid of something?” Li Kuanglan teased lightly.

“How can you still laugh?” Jitianqing snapped.

“The Pool of All Beings is no longer a secret. Why are you afraid to approach it?”

“Hmph, it’s easy to say, why don’t you try?”

“We can see who has better willpower, us or these natives.”

Jitianqing’s expression changed, and she said, “It should be fine, but now… I lack confidence.”

“Wanna bet?”

Jitianqing shook her head. “No, I don’t want to lose.”

Li Kuanglan glanced at the strange beasts and natives gathered by the Pool of All Beings, thinking of something, and her face paled. “I don’t want to either. Let’s fight to the death then!”

Her long sword was almost broken, and just looking at it revealed the intensity of the battle. Sighing, Li Kuanglan said, “If it weren’t for that, we might have been able to get closer to the Pool of All Beings, right?”

“If not for that, we wouldn’t have survived. Regret it?”

“Of course not.”

The endless flow of two-armed humans and four-armed warriors poured into the stone forest, with no end in sight. They could not approach the Pool of All Beings, and upon seeing the massive figure outside the stone forest, both gave up the idea of breaking out, only to fight on.

Unconsciously, they stood back-to-back, fending off the relentless onslaught. Their injuries increased, and Jitianqing found her movements growing sluggish, her breathing labored. Li Kuanglan felt her sword becoming heavier, making it hard to lift.

She sighed. “The six-armed general pursuing us is already so powerful. His must be even stronger. Do you think he can escape?”

“He can! Our man is the strongest.” Jitianqing’s mood brightened, her voice filled with youthful cheer.

Li Kuanglan’s heart sank, her face unchanged. They knew each other deeply, and she knew Jitianqing’s primal energy was depleted. If she had any means left, she wouldn’t have waited. The Great Vortex was isolated, with no reinforcements.

Now, she might be preparing her final move.

Remembering her words, Li Kuanglan whispered, “Yes, our man…”

At this point, there was no need for subtlety. Facing death, Li Kuanglan would choose self-destruction, with a primal energy grenade ready. She would not be captured alive, nor let her body fall into enemy hands.

Jitianqing surely had something similar.

Suddenly, a unique primal energy fluctuation emerged from afar, both profound and distinct, sharp yet gentle, blending contradictions into harmony, feeling utterly natural.

Both strong, even in their final moments, their senses keen, they looked toward the source of the energy.

In the distance, the six-armed giant stood like a mountain.

A faint black mist appeared, circling the giant’s neck.

The giant remained standing, a line of blood suddenly appearing on its neck, and its massive head slowly slid off, falling to the ground.

Li Kuanglan and Jitianqing were stunned. The six-armed giant was… dead?

For a moment, they feared the giant would unleash a final, devastating attack, but when the colossal body fell, they realized it was truly dead.

Yet another question arose: How did it die?

This six-armed giant had joined the chase mid-way, smaller than the one chasing Night, but it had still pushed Li Kuanglan and Jitianqing to the brink.

Its strength and resilience, honed by high gravity, made it a formidable foe. Neither Jitianqing’s extensive knowledge nor Li Kuanglan’s experience in battle prepared them for such a situation. But now, it had fallen, almost ridiculously simple.

The black light condensed into a massive black scythe, wielded by an indescribably beautiful woman. Her perfect features, flowing black hair, and deep eyes were rare.

Seeing her, both women’s hearts skipped a beat. “Yuetong!”

Among the young elites of the Empire, Yuetong was well-known. Her fame came not only from her status as a pure-blooded vampire but also from her unparalleled beauty, and most of all, her connection to Night. His anger, the battle in the City of the Unfallen, and the Empire’s recognition of him as one of its greatest geniuses, all forced him to leave the Empire.

Even today, debates about Night’s defection persisted. Some blamed the military for capturing Yuetong, while others saw Night as a dangerous outsider, recalling the Emperor’s intolerance of vampires, even executing his own son tainted by their blood.

To many, Night’s image, his willingness to betray all for love, became a symbol, with Yuetong as the object of their admiration.

But the current Yuetong was not what they remembered. If she could slay a six-armed giant, how did she end up in Lishui Feng’s clutches?

Confused, they watched the fallen giant.

Though the enemy was gone, their situation remained dire. The two-armed and four-armed warriors continued to attack, undeterred by the giant’s fall. Tens of thousands of natives swarmed the stone forest, a daunting number to defeat.

Yuetong’s figure flickered, appearing in the air a hundred meters away. Both women recognized it as Night’s signature ability, spatial blink. How did she learn it?

Yuetong, hovering above, looked down at them, her gaze mocking and disdainful. Her eyes seemed to say, “Not smart enough, you die.”

Holding a little girl, she held a massive black scythe. She spoke to the girl, who nodded and blew a breath.

Instantly, Jitianqing’s hair stood on end. “That’s Zhuji! Hold your breath and protect yourselves!”

Summoning their last bit of primal energy, they barely formed a barrier, blocking the breeze. Long after it passed, they dared not drop the shield, until their energy was truly exhausted.

The stone forest fell silent, with the natives lying motionless on the ground.

Yuetong appeared before them, Zhuji’s pouting lips facing them, as if a great beast was watching. They dared not move.

Yuetong looked at them and said, “Your man is indeed powerful, but you… hmm, just so-so.”

With that, Yuetong’s figure blurred, and she vanished with a spatial blink, leaving them behind.
