Chapter 122: Escape!

Looking at the rows of system prompts, Nie Yan was thoroughly stunned. He hadn’t expected that in just two days, so many Black Phenol Potions and Black Phenol Potion recipes had been sold.

During the opening period of the Sos Valley, since the area produced high-quality loot and the werewolves offered generous experience points, plus the imminent launch of a new dungeon, players were working harder than ever to gather gear before entering the new instance. As a result, the popularity of Sos Valley had surged dramatically.

Under these circumstances, the demand for Black Phenol Potions by various guilds became apparent. With the auction house completely out of stock, guilds turned their attention to Starry Sky Pharmacy. Frankly speaking, the Black Phenol Potions and their recipes sold at Starry Sky Pharmacy were extremely expensive, almost an exploitation of their hard-earned money. They were reluctant to accept such high prices. However, the shop owner was unavailable, leaving no room for negotiation. After struggling for a while, they had no choice but to buy the potions, knowing full well they were being overcharged. At this point, Starry Sky Pharmacy was the only place still selling Black Phenol Potions and their recipes!

Many times, the world is simply full of helplessness.

Nie Yan checked the sales statistics and found he had earned another twenty-five gold coins.

Who could possibly rival his speed of making money?

Once money is earned, it must be quickly reinvested in capital expansion. Keeping it idle would only lead to depreciation, as in-game currency inevitably loses value as players level up. Nie Yan, now level 10, could use inter-city teleportation. He not only wanted to buy land in Karol City, but also in other cities. If he delayed, land in other cities might already be sold out.

Right now, in-game asset trading was extremely hot and rapidly being divided up. Time was of the essence!

In fact, Nie Yan’s actions in profiting from the Black Phenol Potions also consumed the funds of various guilds to some extent, slowing their capital expansion, while Nie Yan’s capital rapidly expanded.

Receiving good news, Nie Yan’s mood became even more cheerful.

He had already memorized the patrol routes of numerous vampire patrols and designed an appropriate path plan. Although there were some minor difficulties, he decided to give it a try.

Nie Yan leaped down from a pillar, landing silently on the ground and entering stealth mode, vanishing into the darkness.

He had to maintain a distance of at least ten yards from every vampire, but he could no longer see each patrol team’s position as he had earlier. He could only follow his predetermined route and sprint forward.

Purely relying on memory, even in darkness or with his eyes closed, Nie Yan could still remember the general route.

After sprinting fifty yards forward, Nie Yan stopped and held his breath.

A vampire patrol passed approximately ten yards away from Nie Yan and gradually moved away.

Another vampire patrol approached from behind.

Nie Yan quickly accelerated, sprinting forward to avoid them. Dodging and running intermittently, he managed to advance about a hundred yards, successfully bypassing more than thirty vampire patrols!

His memory, among his peers, even if not exceptional, was definitely top-notch.

Nie Yan sprinted another thirty yards forward and stopped. Two vampire lord-level Counts were about thirty yards away. He could clearly see them wearing bright formal attire and pale, almost alluring skin, their bright blue eyes scanning alertly.

Maintaining stealth, Nie Yan glanced toward the front-right direction. On a square stone platform lay a wooden box made of exquisite blackwood. He could barely make it out, yet his heart raced.

The Chapter of Freedom was just ahead!

Once he got it, it would belong to Nie Yan. The random teleportation scroll would then take him out.

From different directions, three vampire patrols were approaching.

Nie Yan took a deep breath and held it. The next moment would be critical. If he could evade these three patrols, he would have a full thirty seconds to bypass the two vampire lord-level Counts and obtain the Chapter of Freedom!

However, Nie Yan wasn’t sure whether this area was safe. The reason he had hesitated for so long on top of the pillar was also due to the dense patrols nearby. He was within ten yards of two vampire patrols, and any carelessness could lead to his discovery.

This was a gamble with death!

The three vampire patrols approached, drawing closer and closer to the ten-yard zone. His heart raced.

Stay calm! Nie Yan slowly calmed himself, watching the nearby vampire patrols. Each patrol was large in number, some with dozens, some with hundreds. He could clearly see their hideous faces.

One vampire patrol passed, then another. Nie Yan seemed to see hope.

At that moment, a sharp scream shattered the stillness over the square.

Nie Yan quickly locked onto the source of the sound—one vampire had spotted him!

Immediately, all the vampires noticed Nie Yan, including the two nearby vampire lord-level Counts. Soon, all the vampires became agitated.

“Damn, I’ve been spotted!” Without hesitation, Nie Yan immediately used an acceleration scroll and charged toward the Chapter of Freedom. This was his last chance. If things went wrong, he would have to use the random teleportation scroll to escape, leaving the Chapter of Freedom for another opportunity.

It was likely that Nie Yan wouldn’t have another chance until reaching level twenty or higher. After all, without a random teleportation scroll, he wouldn’t dare to come here to steal the Chapter of Freedom.

The two vampire lords spotted Nie Yan and charged toward him at an incredible speed, like streaks of light.

Countless vampires chased behind Nie Yan, blocking every escape route.

One vampire lunged at Nie Yan. He sidestepped and dodged, not slowing his pace, sprinting frantically.

If only Flash Dust, Web Spell, or polymorph spells were effective against vampires, or if he had abilities like Swift Step or Dash…

No, there were too many “ifs.” Nie Yan was only level 10, not the level 180 master thief he once was. He could only use his limited skills to push himself to his limits.

Back when Nie Yan was level 10, he had been an ordinary player, nothing special. But in this life, every action he took was extraordinary, including what he was doing now.

This was not yet his limit!

Nie Yan ran like the wind, rapidly approaching the Chapter of Freedom. He was only about seven or eight yards away—getting closer! He already had the random teleportation scroll in hand. As soon as he grabbed the Chapter of Freedom, he would immediately escape!

The vampires were far behind him.

Suddenly, Nie Yan noticed that the two vampire lord-level Counts had already reached him. Their sharp claws gleamed red.

As the vampire Counts struck, Nie Yan dove forward, ducking low. He used his right hand to support himself on the ground, performing a flip to evade their attacks.

Hissing sounds filled the air as the two vampire Counts missed their strikes, letting out sharp, angry growls.

Nie Yan glanced at the black wooden box holding the Chapter of Freedom not far away. Activating the skill from the Weaver’s Ring, a strand of spider silk shot out, sticking to the box and pulling it toward him.

With his left hand, he grabbed the box, rolled, landed on the ground, and had the Chapter of Freedom!

Suddenly, Nie Yan was unable to move, bound by an invisible force. One of the vampire Counts’ sharp claws headed straight for his head. In the next moment, Nie Yan would be dead.

A dazzling white light burst from Nie Yan’s palm.

The vampire Count’s claw struck Nie Yan’s head, but surprisingly, no blood splattered. The vampire Count paused, its low intelligence unable to comprehend what had just happened.

Nie Yan’s body flickered and vanished.

The vampire Count’s attack had missed!

When Nie Yan opened his eyes again, his heart was still racing. Just a moment ago, he had narrowly escaped. He hadn’t expected the vampire Count to possess Mind Bind, a terrifying skill.

Mind Bind was a special ability possessed by certain monsters. When they approached within three yards of their target, they could cast it. Once Mind Bind was used, both the monster and the target would be immobilized for five minutes! Unless the vampire Count that bound Nie Yan was killed or Nie Yan had a teleportation or ethereal ability, he would remain trapped there.

Thankfully, Nie Yan had used the random teleportation scroll in time. Otherwise, he would have certainly perished.

In the vast desert, he had no idea where he had been teleported to, but he was certain he was still within the Hems Wastes. A group of skeleton warriors charged toward Nie Yan, so he quickly sprinted away. While running, he excitedly opened the black wooden box containing the Chapter of Freedom. He could no longer contain his excitement.

A Chapter of Order appeared before Nie Yan’s eyes.
