Chapter 342: Raid

Under Nie Yan’s manipulation, the distant Golden Earth Dragon and Zombie Overseers gradually approached from afar, taking relatively secluded paths with more obstacles to avoid being noticed by this group of players.

This group of players was completely unaware of Nie Yan’s approach, still focused on battling the Zombie Overseer. The Zombie Overseer unleashed several powerful skills, sending the front-line warriors flying backward, immediately replaced by the warriors behind. This team of players coordinated extremely well, clearly having fought this level-50 Zombie Overseer more than once or twice.

Generally, to complete equipment sets or farm various gear, some player teams often camp at specific spots to repeatedly farm a lord-type monster. Lord-type creatures usually respawn after at least a day or two or three days. Guilds typically assign some players to farm nearby monsters, and once the lord respawns, they report the news back to the guild, after which the guild quickly organizes a team to come.

The Bullman Tribe also followed this standard procedure to farm lord-type monsters. The Bullman Tribe had powerful shield warriors like Cui Can Dao Guang (Cui Candao Guang), Leng Ao Ying (Leng Aoying), Yi Yan, and others, each leading a group of players to farm various lords across different respawn points, achieving extremely high efficiency.

Nie Yan was unsure which guild these players belonged to, so he checked their guild insignias. The insignias were engraved with a black eagle pattern. Seeing the black eagle, Nie Yan’s heart tightened—he recognized it as belonging to the guild “Angels’ Fall.” Nie Yan had collected some information about Angels’ Fall before. It was the largest guild in the Necropolis, the capital of the Undead Empire, essentially ruling the city with absolute power. Its guild leader was a curse caster named Duo Duo, a master of curses and dark arcane magic, the ruler of the underworld.

Controlling the Necropolis equated to controlling the entire Undead Empire. This statement was not baseless. The Undead Empire had more than thirty cities, with the Necropolis alone accounting for 35% of the empire’s population. Very few guilds in the Undead Empire could rival Angels’ Fall.

Generally speaking, due to the limited interaction between Lawful Good and Lawful Evil players, both sides rarely paid attention to events happening in the opposing faction, except for some guild leaders who occasionally gathered information about enemy factions. Nie Yan’s knowledge of Angels’ Fall was limited to the information he had collected, which was inherently difficult to verify.

Killing these players would provoke Angels’ Fall, leading to even more intense pursuit. Was it worth it?

After some thought, Nie Yan still decided to proceed. His previous interactions with Angels’ Fall had been minimal. The next time he opened a dark portal, the drop point might no longer be near the Necropolis. His purpose for coming here this time was merely to resell some equipment, and he planned to leave after staying for five days. Although Angels’ Fall was powerful, it would still be very difficult for them to hunt him down completely. Especially in the dark environment of the Underdark, which provided favorable conditions for a rogue’s stealth. Finding a rogue in such a dark and complex environment would be extremely difficult.

As for those quests, Nie Yan might have to wait a while before starting them. The requirements for the current quests were too high for him to handle confidently at the moment.

After thinking this through, Nie Yan no longer hesitated, maneuvering the Zombie Overseers and the Golden Earth Dragon to move closer, seeking an opportunity.

At this moment, the Zombie Overseer’s health was down to around 5%, its skin turning an unusual black.

“The Zombie Overseer is enraged! Everyone, be careful! Mages, scatter!” Dark shouted. As soon as he spoke, the mages around him quickly dispersed, spreading out to take up advantageous attacking positions.

“Keep the magical damage up!”

“Xue Han, hold it down! Pin its foot!”

After the Zombie Overseer became enraged, the front-line Death Knight warrior could no longer hold it back. The Zombie Overseer kicked forward, sending several Death Knights flying. As the Zombie Overseer stepped forward, a Death Knight clad entirely in black battle armor charged at it, successfully pinning its right foot just as it was about to lift it. The Zombie Overseer was immediately immobilized.

Unable to move forward, the Zombie Overseer bent down and swung its weapon toward the Death Knight named Xue Han.

The Death Knight immediately switched to a defensive stance.

A flurry of magic exploded violently on the Zombie Overseer.

All the spellcasters were frantically dealing damage.

This group was handling the Zombie Overseer quite effectively. Without outside interference, they could easily finish it off.

Dark’s face showed a trace of excitement. Xue Han’s timing had been precise—victory was within reach.

However, some things were beyond their expectations. Just as they believed the Zombie Overseer was theirs, three Zombie Overseers suddenly charged in from the side.

The three Zombie Overseers targeted three Necromancers separately. With swift strikes, they felled all three Necromancers almost simultaneously.

“Watch out! It’s the Zombie Overseers!”

“Warriors! Hurry and hold them off!”

The players’ formation fell into chaos.

Dark was shocked upon seeing the three Zombie Overseers. They had already cleared out all the Zombie Overseers in the area—where had these three come from? And their appearance had been so sudden, charging out of the darkness beside them without any warning. They hadn’t even had time to prepare! Moreover, the three Zombie Overseers had acted in perfect coordination, working together seamlessly to eliminate three Necromancers in one go. Dark felt his heart sinking. Every time a Necromancer fell, the risk of a total wipe increased significantly.

Everything happened too quickly!

“Warriors, hold the Zombie Overseers!” Dark quickly commanded his summoned undead to charge toward the Zombie Overseers.

After eliminating the three Necromancers, the three Zombie Overseers immediately turned their attention to the remaining six Necromancers, who scattered in all directions.

One Necromancer was fleeing when the shadow behind him suddenly twisted. A figure emerged from behind him, followed by roaring black flames appearing in front of his neck.

A flash of cold light—Throat Slash!

Nie Yan’s Zennarde’s Sword radiated a deadly glow as it swept across the Necromancer’s throat. In an instant, blood spurted forth.

The Necromancer’s foot landed just as he was about to turn, his expression one of disbelief. His staff was still gripped diagonally in his hand, and he was preparing to cast Sacrificial Shield, but unfortunately, he was just too slow.

Nie Yan’s critical strike instantly killed the Necromancer.

Dark spotted this figure and hesitated for a moment. “It’s that Human rogue! Block him!” He waved his staff and cast Shadow Bind.

The shadows around Nie Yan twisted like invisible ropes, rushing toward him.

Nie Yan sensed the anomaly nearby and immediately used Dash Step to evade the Shadow Bind, disappearing from Dark’s sight and blending into the darkness.

Dark’s attack missed, and he was startled. This rogue truly was no ordinary opponent to have survived so long in the Underdark.

“Watch out for ambushes!” Before his voice even faded, a sudden surge of magical energy made him jump. Scanning the area, he noticed a Golden Earth Dragon standing amidst the dark, rocky terrain nearby. It was only partially visible—if one wasn’t paying close attention, it would be hard to spot in the chaos. By the time Dark noticed the Golden Earth Dragon, it was already too late. After chanting a short incantation, the Golden Earth Dragon unleashed Meteor Shower!

A massive flaming meteor crashed down toward the group of players.

“It’s an AoE spell! Everyone, run!”

Screams of terror echoed as the players scattered, but no matter how fast they ran, they couldn’t outpace the falling meteor.

With a thunderous boom, flames erupted in all directions, engulfing everything.

Within a 20×20 yard radius, all was consumed in roaring flames.

Amidst the inferno, cries of agony continued as every player within the area was wiped out.

System: Honor kill on civilian, count 1, gain 3 honor points.

System: Honor kill on civilian, count 1, gain 5 honor points.

Nie Yan glanced at the system messages. That fireball must have taken out at least twenty players.

The Golden Earth Dragon’s Meteor Shower had not affected the Zombie Overseer, so its aggro remained focused on this group of Lawful Evil players.

“Fall back! Everyone, retreat!” Seeing the situation spiral out of control and witnessing the aftermath of the meteor strike, Dark immediately ordered the players to withdraw.

The Lawful Evil players scattered in all directions.

Seeing the players behind him fleeing in disarray, Xue Han lost interest in continuing the fight and began to retreat. As he stepped back, the Zombie Overseer would not let him escape so easily. It kicked out, striking the shield with immense force. With a loud thud, Xue Han was sent flying.

Xue Han landed and stumbled backward dozens of steps before finally stabilizing, his health reduced to a sliver. Unfortunately, the Necromancers were too preoccupied to offer any healing support.

Suddenly, a figure appeared behind him.

Startled, Xue Han quickly raised his shield to block, but the person behind was too fast. A sharp weapon pierced into his back.

Xue Han was considered among the top Death Knights in Angels’ Fall, level 47, with top-tier dark armor, ranked at least top three in the guild. Angels’ Fall was as densely populated with talent as the Bullman Tribe. To rank in the top three of such a guild was no small feat—his reflexes and awareness were top-notch. Unfortunately, he was facing Nie Yan.

After being kicked away by the Zombie Overseer, Xue Han stumbled backward dozens of steps, suffering from a severe stun effect that reduced his reaction speed and movement to their lowest points, making even the slightest movement difficult. Even a top-tier player would likely be unable to defend under these conditions.

Nie Yan’s grasp of the battlefield was extremely precise. Spotting an opportunity to strike, especially against a Lawful Evil main tank, he naturally wouldn’t let it slip away. After positioning himself correctly, he delivered a precise Cheap Shot.

Before Xue Han could react, he was stunned. Nie Yan immediately followed up with Backstab and then Hemorrhage. Xue Han fell to the ground, dropping a piece of equipment—a black shield.

Seeing it was a shield, Nie Yan’s heart stirred, and he quickly collected it into his inventory.
