Chapter 501: Breaking the City

Nie Yan was standing in an open area of the Infernal Fortress when suddenly dozens of arcane mages appeared before him, teleporting in using Nie Yan’s coordinates.

Upon seeing Nie Yan, these arcane mages greeted him enthusiastically.

“Boss Nie Yan, we’re here.”

“Boss Nie Yan.”

More than twenty arcane mages, each with an expression of excitement on their faces, had been completely in the dark before teleporting in. Nie Yan had kept his plans secret, only revealing them to a few core members. Many of the arcane mages had no idea what was going on until they arrived.

So this was Nie Yan’s strategy!

Nie Yan’s plan was for himself, Sun, and King of the World to stealthily infiltrate the Infernal Fortress first. Then, this group of arcane mages would use group teleport scrolls to join them, and subsequently open portals to bring in their teammates from Elemental City. This way, more than 3,000 members of the Bull Man Tribe could silently teleport into the Infernal Fortress.

From the inside out, they would completely destroy the Infernal Fortress!

Meanwhile, the Bull Man Tribe members remaining in Elemental City were also in motion. They gradually entered the inns throughout the city, disappearing from the sight of Eternal Guild players monitoring them. After entering the inns, they never came out again.

Inn rooms were private spaces, with the cheapest costing around one gold coin. Without the occupant’s permission, other players could not enter. Therefore, even if the Eternal Guild players kept a close watch, they couldn’t see what the Bull Man Tribe members were doing inside the inn rooms.

As long as there were no spies leaking information from within the Bull Man Tribe, this plan would definitely not be exposed.

To the Eternal Guild players, the Bull Man Tribe members seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace.

The sudden disappearance of the Bull Man Tribe members was promptly reported to the upper echelons of the Eternal Guild.

“Can someone tell me exactly what the Bull Man Tribe is up to!” Huo Tian Kuang Long demanded, looking around the conference hall.

The players below exchanged glances. How would they know where the Bull Man Tribe members had gone? Their actions were just too strange.

Huo Tian Shitu, one of the strategists of the Eternal Guild, sat in silence, deep in thought. He had an idea, but his mind remained muddled.

The Eternal Guild’s strength was only above average among all guilds, so they couldn’t afford to develop an extensive intelligence network, let alone bribe top players from the Bull Man Tribe. Thus, they still had no information.

However, the Mage Alliance had already gathered intelligence first.

“Boss Kuang Fa, a brother from our side in the Bull Man Tribe reported that more than 3,000 Bull Man Tribe members are already inside the Infernal Fortress,” an arcane mage reported to Kuang Fa, the leader of the Mage Alliance.

Kuang Fa wore an expression of astonishment and asked in disbelief, “The Bull Man Tribe moved so fast? How did they manage that?”

Transporting more than 3,000 players silently into a heavily fortified stronghold without triggering any combat was an extremely difficult feat!

“They first sent Kuang Zei Nie Yan and two other rogues to stealthily infiltrate the Infernal Fortress. Then, a group of arcane mages used group teleport scrolls to teleport directly to Kuang Zei Nie Yan’s location. After that, the arcane mages opened portals to pull their teammates in. This way, everyone entered the Infernal Fortress,” the arcane mage explained. This was what their spies had witnessed firsthand.

Kuang Fa paused mid-sip from his teacup, thinking to himself that Kuang Zei Nie Yan truly had some skill to devise such a method. Achieving this result required several conditions. First, the guild needed at least one top-tier rogue capable of infiltrating a fortress undetected. Second, they needed several group teleport scrolls, which were extremely rare. These scrolls dropped from a level 50 expert dungeon, but clearing that dungeon was very difficult—apparently only the Bull Man Tribe had managed it so far.

This large-scale transportation method wasn’t something other guilds could easily replicate. Of course, with enough time and effort, it could be done. However, the same tactic would only work once. Using it again would prompt defenses.

Kuang Zei Nie Yan had executed a well-thought-out plan, catching his opponents unaware. Such an attack was hard to defend against. It seemed the Infernal Fortress was doomed.

“Why did we only get this information now?” Kuang Fa asked with a frown, clearly dissatisfied with the intelligence department. If they had received the information earlier, he might have warned the Eternal Guild and gained a favor.

“Kuang Zei Nie Yan planned too thoroughly. Before the plan was executed, out of those 3,000 people, only a dozen or so knew the full details, all of them his trusted inner circle. Many only learned about it after teleporting in. I came to report immediately after receiving the news,” the arcane mage explained, nervously watching Kuang Fa. If Kuang Fa was in a bad mood, he would be in serious trouble.

“Never mind,” Kuang Fa waved his hand dismissively. Kuang Zei Nie Yan must have been cautious, making it difficult for them to obtain the information.

“Should we inform the Eternal Guild?” the arcane mage cautiously asked Kuang Fa.

“Inform the Eternal Guild? Even if we do, what good would it do? Kuang Zei Nie Yan already has 3,000 people in the Infernal Fortress. As long as they unleash area-of-effect spells at the teleportation array, who would dare to emerge from it? Kuang Zei Nie Yan must have anticipated this. He would have guessed that among these 3,000 Bull Man Tribe members, there might be spies from other guilds who would leak the information soon. He wouldn’t give the Eternal Guild time to react. By the time we inform the Eternal Guild, the Bull Man Tribe would have already taken control of the Infernal Fortress teleportation array. It would take the Eternal Guild’s main force at least twenty minutes to reach the Infernal Fortress. I estimate that by then, the battle at the Infernal Fortress would already be over. With the Infernal Fortress’s weak defenses, how could they withstand the Bull Man Tribe’s ferocious assault? The Bull Man Tribe has no use for the Infernal Fortress. Rather than handing it back to the Eternal Guild, they might as well destroy it. After the Bull Man Tribe leaves, the Infernal Fortress will become a ruin,” Kuang Fa explained. He could easily imagine the fate of the Eternal Guild. The Bull Man Tribe would leave the Infernal Fortress in ruins.

In the Eternal Guild’s meeting hall, the guild’s top leaders gathered, anxiously discussing the current situation and speculating on the Bull Man Tribe’s next move. Based on the Bull Man Tribe’s usual tactics, if they decided to attack the Eternal Guild, they would strike like thunder.

Yet, so far, there had been no sign of any movement from the Bull Man Tribe.

“Could the Bull Man Tribe’s sudden disappearance mean they are already outside one of our fortresses?” Huo Tian Zhi Yi speculated offhandedly.

Huo Tian Shitu’s words caused a chill to run through everyone present.

Huo Tian Shitu suddenly stood up, alarmed. “No good! Immediately put all three fortresses on full alert and search for any intruders!”

“You mean…” Huo Tian Kuang Long was startled. Just then, a report from a player below sent his heart plummeting to the depths.

Bull Man Tribe players had been spotted inside the Infernal Fortress!

Combined with the sudden disappearance of the Bull Man Tribe’s 3,000 members, even a fool could now guess what had happened!

The Bull Man Tribe’s 3,000 players were already inside the Infernal Fortress!

At this moment, the Bull Man Tribe had sounded the attack. More than 3,000 players dispersed toward various strategic points. Rogues had already infiltrated the watchtowers, ambushing the players inside. Chaos reigned within the fortress, rendering it ineffective. Following closely behind the rogues, other Bull Man Tribe players flooded into the watchtowers, overwhelming the Eternal Guild players inside with concentrated firepower.

In an instant, the entire Infernal Fortress echoed with the sounds of battle.

At the Infernal Fortress teleportation array, Tang Yao led more than twenty mages in seizing control of the area.

The teleportation array was somewhat rudimentary, covering about 3×3 yards. White lights flickered within the array as the first batch of Eternal Guild reinforcements began to appear, about twenty or thirty players.

As they adjusted to the spatial transition, they looked up to see the mocking smiles of more than twenty Bull Man Tribe mages.

“Kids from the Eternal Guild, we’ve been waiting for you a long time!” Tang Yao laughed mockingly.

Before the Eternal Guild players could react, they felt intense magical fluctuations. Flames rained down from the sky, engulfing them. Screams of agony filled the air as these Eternal Guild players were reduced to streaks of light.

The twenty mages alternately unleashed area-of-effect spells toward the teleportation array. The Eternal Guild players had no chance. Anyone teleporting in was immediately killed. After a hundred or so deaths, no one dared to teleport in anymore. They realized that no matter how many reinforcements they sent, they would only be feeding Tang Yao and his team.

With the teleportation array cut off, the Infernal Fortress became an isolated city.

Inside the fortress, the Bull Man Tribe and the Eternal Guild had a player ratio of 3:5. However, the Bull Man Tribe’s strength was dozens of times that of the Eternal Guild players. Wherever the Bull Man Tribe went, they were unstoppable. Eternal Guild players fled at the sight of them.

Nie Yan, Sun, and King of the World led the charge, infiltrating one watchtower after another.

Nie Yan’s sword, Zennarde’s Flame, a blade wreathed in eerie black fire, had devoured countless lives. Nie Yan knew no one could resist his blade. No one survived his strikes. Cloth-wearing and leather-armored opponents were cut down in a single blow, while plate-armored opponents might last two strikes. However, the level gap between them and Nie Yan was too large, and their speeds were far inferior. Once encountering Nie Yan, escape was impossible.

The Infernal Fortress had become a battlefield of carnage. After the Bull Man Tribe’s rogues captured each watchtower, the mounted ballistae slowly turned their aim toward the Eternal Guild players.
