Chapter 544: High Altitude Kill (Part 2)

As he drew closer to the White-Headed Gryphon, watching it about to resume level flight, Nie Yan activated the skill on his Ring of the Crawler. His ten fingers transformed into suction cups, allowing him to stick firmly onto the back of the White-Headed Gryphon like a gecko.

The others bore witness to this myth-like scene with their own eyes, unable to even comprehend what had just happened.

How did Nie Yan manage to do that!

From the back of the Darkwinged Dragon to the back of the White-Headed Gryphon—it all happened in an instant.

“Master Guigu, watch out!”

“Master Guigu!” The others cried out in alarm, but their warnings came too late.

How could Nie Yan give Guigu Jueqing any chance to react!

Guigu Jueqing never expected Nie Yan to suddenly appear behind him!

This was undoubtedly unbelievable, yet it was happening right before their eyes. Guigu Jueqing was still puzzled, thinking he had successfully evaded the Darkwinged Dragon—why were the others shouting for him to be careful? Suddenly, Nie Yan sprang into action, lunging toward Guigu Jueqing’s back and bringing down his Zaynard Sword.

Guigu Jueqing suddenly felt something amiss behind him. As he turned his head, the blazing flames of the Zaynard Sword met his face. His hands were tightly gripping the back of the White-Headed Gryphon, leaving him unable to use any skills or evade. If he let go, the Gryphon would soar upward and he would plummet from the sky, his body shattered beyond recognition.

Guigu Jueqing’s pupils constricted in terror. If he died, the White-Headed Gryphon would also perish!

But it was already too late! Nie Yan’s Zaynard Sword slashed down upon him, blood splattered, and Guigu Jueqing was instantly slain, his corpse tumbling from the sky.

The White-Headed Gryphon let out a low, mournful cry, flying toward Guigu Jueqing’s falling body.

If a player dies, their flying mount will return to their pet space within twenty seconds. Naturally, Nie Yan had no intention of letting the White-Headed Gryphon escape.

Suddenly, Nie Yan sprang forward, driving his Zaynard Sword straight into the Gryphon’s skull. The Gryphon shrieked in agony, thrashing and rolling through the air. The Darkwinged Dragon flew above it, its powerful talons seizing the Gryphon’s head with a sickening crunch, shattering its skull.

The Darkwinged Dragon tore out the Gryphon’s Life Core and swallowed it, then somersaulted midair and caught Nie Yan on its back.

The Gryphon’s corpse plummeted toward the ground.

All of this happened within a mere dozen seconds. Two players riding a Venomous Dragonfly and a Windsnake hadn’t even managed to react or come to the rescue. Nie Yan’s gaze swept over the players mounted on those creatures. Meeting his icy stare, their bodies stiffened as if marked by a demon.

The White-Headed Gryphon had been torn apart, the air still thick with blood. What had just occurred felt like a nightmare, haunting their minds and filling them with an urge to flee.

Below, players were locked in fierce battle when, with a loud thud, a player’s corpse fell from the sky. Moments later, the Gryphon’s body crashed down, kicking up a cloud of dust. A sudden rain of blood began to fall.

The smell of blood spread through the air, the vivid red resembling blooming roses.

After the crimson rain passed, the area remained shrouded in a mist of blood. Kuangfa gazed up at the sky in shock—the White-Headed Gryphon had been killed! Only five flying mounts remained. Was defeat inevitable?

“Brothers, Boss Nie Yan has taken down one of their mounts—we can’t lag behind. Charge!”

The battle cries of the Bull Tribe drowned out the voices of the Mage Alliance.

The Darkwinged Dragon carried Nie Yan in pursuit of the Canglan Wingbird, which was fleeing. He needed to rescue Benzhu Mowang quickly—the Wingbird was already severely wounded, and Dieyao along with another Windsnake were preparing to gang up on it.

“Boss Guigu is dead? How could this happen?”

An Arcane Mage riding a Flamingo hesitated, saying, “As long as there’s no mistake, Guigu Jueqing shouldn’t have died so easily!” The situation was spiraling out of their control.

Not far away, the Darkwinged Dragon was rapidly approaching.

“Nie Yan is coming!”

“Don’t panic!”

“Focus on finishing off the Canglan Wingbird!” the Arcane Mage shouted, though even his own nerves were stretched to the limit. How could the other two stay calm?

Seeing the Darkwinged Dragon approach, Benzhu Mowang felt relieved. As his pursuers hesitated between attacking or retreating, a sly smile crept across his face. After enduring so long under relentless pursuit, finally, he had a chance to strike back!

Metamorphosis!

The Canglan Wingbird’s feathers shimmered with dazzling colors, like blooming flowers, as its wounds visibly healed before their eyes.

The Canglan Wingbird was inherently weak, barely stronger than a second-tier mount, but it possessed a valuable skill: during battle, it could transform its severe injuries into minor ones, maintaining its combat effectiveness.

The sudden change startled the Mages’ side momentarily.

At that moment, Benzhu Mowang targeted the player on Dieyao and cast a Mind Shock.

The player had been preparing to charge at Benzhu Mowang when, without warning, a powerful mental interference struck him, momentarily disrupting his control. However, Dieyao continued executing its previous command, diving toward the Canglan Wingbird.

Suddenly, the Wingbird turned and lunged at Dieyao, the two clashing as they spiraled rapidly downward.

“I can’t tell them apart! I can’t attack!” the player on the Windsnake shouted anxiously.

The Arcane Mage on the Flamingo hadn’t expected this turn of events. Now they couldn’t focus on eliminating the Canglan Wingbird—hoping Dieyao could take it down! It should be fine—Dieyao could create illusions!

In the blink of an eye, Nie Yan had already arrived, riding the Darkwinged Dragon. The dragon roared furiously, its claws reaching for the Windsnake.

“Watch out!”

You think you can catch me? Not so fast! Seeing the Darkwinged Dragon approaching, the player on the Windsnake sneered. The Windsnake’s transparent wings vibrated rapidly, doubling its speed as it swiftly fled.

Roar!

The Darkwinged Dragon emitted a deep, resonant draconic roar, unleashing an overwhelming pressure. The lower the creature’s status, the more potent the dragon’s oppressive aura became.

The Windsnake hesitated slightly. In that brief moment of hesitation, the Darkwinged Dragon opened its maw and unleashed a jet of scorching dragon’s breath toward the Windsnake.

With a loud boom, the dragon’s breath struck the Windsnake’s back, sending it flying through the air, writhing violently.

The Darkwinged Dragon swiftly dove down, seizing the Windsnake’s head and extracting its Life Core, then biting down hard.

Nie Yan’s speed was lightning-fast. In such a short time, he had eliminated the Windsnake. The Darkwinged Dragon’s strength exceeded their expectations. At this point, the Arcane Mage on the Flamingo panicked and turned to flee. Nie Yan maneuvered the Darkwinged Dragon to give chase, rapidly closing the distance.

Realizing the Darkwinged Dragon was drawing closer, the Arcane Mage crouched slightly, preparing to perform a complex aerial roll to evade the dragon’s attack.

Like a hawk swooping down on a rabbit, the Darkwinged Dragon dove.

Just as the Flamingo was about to be caught, it suddenly rolled sideways and veered away.

Trying to escape? Not so fast! Nie Yan locked eyes on the Flamingo, his body coiling like a spring. Activating the Jump Ring’s skill, he launched himself into the air, diving toward the Flamingo.

The wind screamed past his ears, nearly blowing his thin frame away.

Seeing Nie Yan flying toward him, the Arcane Mage was startled. Nie Yan was truly fearless, daring to do something so dangerous—didn’t he fear falling to his death?

In his panic, the Arcane Mage didn’t consider that Nie Yan had a Feather Fall gem, which would ensure his safety even if he fell. The only thought in his mind was to make Nie Yan fall—he would be finished then!

As Nie Yan was about to land on the Flamingo’s back, the Arcane Mage suddenly chanted a string of incantations—Dispel! A powerful force pushed Nie Yan away. He flew backward, rapidly descending.

“Farewell, Nie Yan!” the Arcane Mage laughed arrogantly.

But Nie Yan’s next move abruptly silenced his laughter. As he was pushed away, Nie Yan used the skill from his Weaver’s Ring, shooting out a strand of spider silk that latched onto the Flamingo’s feathers. The silk tightened, yanking Nie Yan back.

“Die!” The Arcane Mage quickly cast a Fireball, a blazing sphere of flame shooting forward and severing the silk with a crackling sound.

But it was too late. Nie Yan’s climbing skill was still active—his hands tightly gripped the Flamingo’s feathers. With a powerful leap, he landed on the Flamingo’s back.

Mind Shock!

The Arcane Mage waved his staff, screaming a sharp command, a sound like knives scraping glass. A powerful mental shockwave surged toward Nie Yan.

As the Mind Shock approached, Nie Yan activated a Mental Immunity, charging through the mental assault toward the Arcane Mage.

Who will die is yet to be seen!

MISS! The Mind Shock had no effect!

Stunned, the Arcane Mage watched as Nie Yan’s Zaynard Sword came down upon him with lightning speed. His heart pounded with fear.

“Damn it!” the Arcane Mage cursed. There was barely any space on the Flamingo’s back—where could he run?
