Chapter 729: War Shadow Dance!

Two dual-wield swordsmen dashed swiftly toward the Mandrake Serpent and leapt forward. Their dual swords slashed onto the serpent’s body, causing a string of damage numbers over 2000 to pop up on its head.

What incredible attack speed!

The Mandrake Serpent opened its blood-dripping maw and lunged forward. The two swordsmen quickly dodged to one side and leapt again, unleashing another flurry of skills.

Nie Yan was secretly astonished. The professions from the Demonkin Tribe were indeed formidable. Both the Demonblade and the dual-wielding swordsmen had their unique advantages in terms of class skills and talents. If engaging them head-on, their high attack power was quite intimidating. However, Nie Yan was a rogue. If he launched a surprise attack, the Demonblade and dual-wielding swordsmen would have little advantage due to their low defense and health.

“Godking said we should gather more Redheart Grass while we’re on the surface,” remarked a dark-armored Demon Swordsman standing beside Yougui.

“Where are we supposed to find this stuff? We don’t even know this place well,” Yougui replied gloomily.

They were members of the Pantheon. Upon hearing their conversation, Nie Yan felt a jolt of alarm. He had some knowledge of the Underworld. Within the Demonkin Tribe, there was an enormous guild known as the Pantheon Tribe. This guild was extremely mysterious and developed quietly. Though small in numbers, only around a hundred thousand members, it was said to have many top-tier players. Godking rarely appeared publicly, yet he commanded great respect within the Demonkin Tribe. In the previous era at his peak, the Pantheon Tribe had as many as six hundred Silver Wings.

Nie Yan toyed with Zennad’s Sword in his hand. Since Yougui and his group had come into his territory, they should have been prepared to die. It wasn’t their fault, though. They were after his Scythe of Death, so he couldn’t possibly let them go. After a moment of consideration, he activated the data concealment effect of his Shadowstalker’s Robe and put away Zennad’s Sword, switching to a dagger instead.

This way, even if he eliminated Yougui and his group, they wouldn’t know who had done it.

With Angel Industries and Century Financial Group as formidable enemies, Nie Yan didn’t want to make too many adversaries.

Staring intently at Yougui among the magic swordsmen, Nie Yan suddenly sprang into action.

Yougui and the others were just about to charge forward and attack the Mandrake Serpent when, as the three moved, a figure appeared behind them.

Yougui suddenly felt something wrong behind him, his heart tightened, and he prepared to counterattack. But his body was already paralyzed, his entire body locked in place.

What was going on?

A flash of cold light appeared before his eyes. Before he could react, a dagger appeared at his throat, slicing through it viciously.

With a plop, blood splattered.

Yougui’s health dropped to zero instantly, and he collapsed to the ground.

Nie Yan smiled faintly. Although Silver Wing Demon Swordsmen were second only to top-tier professions, they were still no match for him. The Demonkin Tribe had sacrificed defense and health for attack power. A Demon Swordsman’s durability was barely better than a human rogue’s. If Nie Yan got the chance, one strike was enough to end their life.

After eliminating Yougui, Nie Yan immediately entered stealth mode.

“Damn, there’s a rogue!”

“Youguilao da is dead!”

“So fast!”

When the two dark knights turned around, they only caught a glimpse of a fleeting shadow. Before they could even identify who it was, Yougui’s lifeless body lay silently on the ground.

A Silver Wing Spellblade had been eliminated just like that. Who exactly was their opponent?

A chill crept into their hearts. Before they could use their perception skills to locate Nie Yan, a scream rang out from behind them. Looking ahead, the two dual-wield swordsmen were watching as the other Silver Wing dual-wield swordsman had already been killed. The remaining one was retreating under the Mandrake Serpent’s relentless assault. With a terrifying rogue lurking nearby, he had no will to fight anymore, dodging the serpent’s attacks frantically.

Within moments, the two Silver Wings had fallen.

The remaining three suddenly lost their composure, a deep sense of fear rising from their hearts. Five had come here, and in an instant, two were dead. So far, they didn’t even know who their opponent was. This was the first time they had encountered such a situation. In the Underworld, they had never met such a powerful opponent.

“What do we do?”

“Run!”

“Use random teleport scrolls!”

Before coming to the surface, each of them had been equipped with numerous random teleport scrolls. Now was the time to use them. The three immediately pulled out their scrolls. Just as they were about to crush the scrolls, another scream rang out. The remaining dual-wield swordsman had a flash of cold light pierce into the back of his head.

Nie Yan knocked the dual-wield swordsman unconscious, then performed a Spinebreaker, sending him flying.

After completing this task, Nie Yan turned around and noticed that the two Dark Swordsmen had already fled using their random teleportation scrolls.

As long as Yougui was eliminated, the others probably wouldn’t know the location of the Scythe of Death. There was no need to continue chasing them.

The nearby Mandrake Serpent noticed that the people attacking it were all dead, and only Nie Yan remained nearby. It charged toward Nie Yan.

Nie Yan switched back to Zennad’s Sword. His figure flickered, appearing at the serpent’s side. Zennad’s Sword pierced through the serpent’s jaw with a thud, followed by a swift slash.

The Mandrake Serpent thrashed wildly, but Nie Yan quickly dodged, landing several quick elbow strikes and slashes. The serpent was left covered in wounds, bleeding profusely, and finally collapsed lifelessly to the ground.

Nie Yan picked up the items on the ground. They were several pieces of equipment from the Demonkin Tribe, which were practically useless to him. When he returned, he could give them to the enchantment master to break down into some quality materials. Thinking of this, he tossed them into his backpack.

Nie Yan didn’t know how many people had accepted the task of finding the Scythe of Death. In the coming period, he would have to remain vigilant.

Next, he planned to head to the Saturn Empire. He wondered what kind of reception Angel of the Wings and Cao Xu would prepare for him. A faint, mysterious smile appeared on Nie Yan’s lips.

After using a recall scroll, Nie Yan returned to the city.

In the Demonkin Tribe’s Dark Abyss, located deep within the abyss, all the buildings were man-made, embedded into the rock walls. Faint rays of light filtered down from above, making the place dimly lit. However, the streets here were bustling with activity. The residents all had strong dark vision, and darkness posed no obstacle to them.

Yougui and his group resurrected at the graveyard and teleported back to the Pantheon Tribe’s main fortress, entering the guild headquarters.

In the central hall of the guild headquarters, a person wearing a black robe was sitting calmly on a chair at the front of the hall. Behind him was a pair of wings. Unlike the silver-white wings of ordinary players, his wings were golden, and the robe bore some white patterns, clearly indicating his identity: a Dark Priest.

“Why are you back so soon?” the Dark Priest asked.

“Godking, we were ambushed by a rogue and got killed,” Yougui replied gloomily. For them, this was a hard-to-swallow humiliation.

“Weren’t there five of you?” Godking found it hard to believe. He had thought Yougui’s five-man team would be able to handle a single rogue.

“Three of us were taken down by that rogue. Only Silver and Butcher managed to escape using random teleport scrolls.”

“Who was the opponent?” Godking asked with a frown. He knew the skill level of Yougui and his team. Within the guild, they were at least among the top fifty, with Yougui being the strongest at fifth place. Only because of their strength had he felt confident sending them through the underground passage to the surface.

“We don’t know. The opponent concealed his name,” Yougui said with a grimace. This was the most embarrassing part—getting killed without even knowing who the opponent was. They hadn’t even seen his face, let alone recorded any video footage. Talking about it would surely be a laughingstock.

After hearing Yougui’s words, Godking fell into thought. In the Empire of Grinland, a rogue capable of outmaneuvering Yougui and his team like that would be extremely rare, probably no more than five in total. And the top-tier rogues were undoubtedly those from the Bullman Tribe.

Whoever could eliminate Yougui and his team without them even catching a glimpse of his face was almost certainly the infamous rogue, Nie Yan!

“The infamous rogue Nie Yan, truly a formidable opponent,” Godking mused. He estimated that even if he used a single-target curse against Nie Yan, his chances of victory wouldn’t exceed fifty percent.

“Chief, I suspect that the rogue was…”

Yougui was about to speak when Godking waved him off.

Godking said, “You all go down now and follow the team to level up. Don’t think about going to the surface anymore.” Nie Yan had concealed his name and data, which was a clear message—he didn’t want to make enemies with the Pantheon Tribe. Godking was a smart man. The Bullman Tribe was already a dominant force in the Empire of Grinland. There was no benefit in provoking them.

“Understood.” Yougui looked hesitantly at Godking’s expression in the distance before nodding slowly.

Nie Yan spent over a hundred gold coins to teleport back to the city of Okoren, preparing for consumables at various shops in Okoren.

Since Nie Yan had spent over 50 million gold coins to upgrade Okoren City to an advanced city, its commercial activities had become increasingly prosperous. Many NPC tribes had opened shops in Okoren, offering various high-end consumables. More and more players were coming here, and all the land in Okoren City had already been sold, with numerous shops established. Unlike other cities, Okoren was a melting pot of various races, including humans, orcs, elves, and more, making it a rather mixed place.

Nie Yan headed toward the branch store of the Starlight Pharmacy in Okoren City to pick up some potions. On his way, Guo Huai sent him another message: Xiaorong had advanced to a top-tier profession, becoming the sixteenth top-tier player in the Bullman Tribe and the fourth Shadow Dancer.

What amazed Nie Yan was that Xiaorong’s promotion wasn’t to the ordinary Shadow Dancer, but to another title, the Warrior Shadow Dancer.

Nie Yan had obtained the Holy Shadow Dancer title slightly earlier than Xiaorong, so for Xiaorong, history had already deviated from its original course. However, there was always a trade-off. Although Xiaorong had lost the chance to become a Holy Shadow Dancer, he had gained the Warrior Shadow Dancer title instead. Reflecting on this, Nie Yan couldn’t help but marvel at how unpredictable fate could be.
