Chapter 770: The Wizard’s Tower

While being bound by tendrils, Nieyan felt his energy rapidly drained away, a wave of weakness washing over his body, as damage numbers in the thousands floated above his head.

Princess Aina of the Wandering Souls suddenly appeared behind Nieyan. She had managed to perform a stealthy rogue-like ambush, catching Nieyan somewhat off guard.

The tendrils of Princess Aina wrapped tightly around Nieyan’s limbs, immobilizing him. With his skills also disabled, Nieyan was left completely powerless to resist.

With a loud crack, Princess Aina’s tendril lashed against Nieyan, dealing over ten thousand damage.

As Nieyan neared death, the paladin Lefus cast Might of the Holy Charger on himself and rushed over, swinging his greatsword to heal Nieyan.

The paladin Lefus’s powerful healing ability instantly restored Nieyan’s health to full.

Under Nieyan’s control, the golden earth dragon charged forward, slamming its massive body into Princess Aina.

With a loud boom, Princess Aina staggered backward, nearly flinging Nieyan away.

In those brief few seconds, CuiLan DaoGuang (CuiLan Blade), ShuiSe YanTou (ShuiSe Smoke), and others rushed forward.

Piercing sounds filled the air as several daggers flashed, severing Princess Aina’s tendrils one by one.

Nieyan finally broke free from Princess Aina’s grasp and escaped.

Sun, WangzhexiaTianxia (King of the World), Xiaorong (Smile), and others revealed themselves.

Nieyan exchanged a knowing smile with them; their coordination had been excellent.

“Princess Aina’s almost dead. Everyone, push hard!” Nieyan said in the party chat, commanding the golden earth dragon to unleash a torrent of dragon breath.

Princess Aina was down to 9% health, and everyone grew tense and excited. It wouldn’t be long before she was defeated.

Execute!

Execute!

CuiLan DaoGuang, ShuiSe YanTou, and Leisux (Leisux) continued their relentless assault, one sword strike after another, with numerous “MISS” messages floating above Princess Aina’s head.

Hundreds of magical projectiles flew in, exploding one after another against Princess Aina’s body with loud booms.

8%, 7%…

Princess Aina attempted to break through the crowd and chase Nieyan, but Nieyan would never allow her another chance. He swiftly dodged her attacks and, while the golden earth dragon held her in place, maneuvered behind her and swung Zennarde’s Sword for successive execution strikes.

With a loud squelch, a damage number of over 1.3 million floated above Princess Aina’s head. She let out a piercing shriek, her body melting like ice, black liquid oozing from her body and vanishing into the ground.

Princess Aina was dead!

“Princess Aina is down! Who landed the killing blow, Boss Nieyan? Was it you?” BadKidWhoCantDie excitedly asked in the party chat. That final strike had saved them a lot of trouble.

Nieyan glanced at his status bar and shook his head, “Not mine.”

“Then who?”

“It was mine,” ShuiSe YanTou replied.

Whether it was ShuiSe YanTou, CuiLan DaoGuang, Leisux’s execution strike, or Nieyan’s Hellfire Execution, each had a certain success rate. Whoever landed it first would instantly kill the boss.

Princess Aina’s true form transformed into waves of dark energy and vanished into the air.

A crisp sound echoed as Princess Aina dropped at least a dozen items, gems scattering across the ground.

Princess Aina had exploded in loot!

HongLian XieLuoDao (HongLian Hellblade) and XieQi LinRan (XieQi Oppressive) approached.

“As agreed, I’ll take just one item, and the rest are yours,” Nieyan said. His eyes scanned the ground until settling on a greatsword. It was a warrior’s two-handed blade, crafted from some unknown metal, inscribed with strange, rune-like characters covering its entire surface, which even Nieyan couldn’t decipher.

Nieyan picked up the greatsword and checked its stats. It was a level 150 legendary item with impressive attributes.

Morlando’s Sword (Legendary): Requires Level 150.

Attributes: Attack 3732-3932, 20% chance to deal 3x armor-piercing damage, 12th-level dark corrosion effect, 30% enhanced dark damage, 30% life steal on attacks.

Skill: Dark Demon Slash – deals damage to all units within a five-yard radius. Main target takes 5x damage, nearby units take 2x damage.

Restriction: Warriors only.

This Morlando’s Sword was quite impressive. Though it couldn’t compare to Nieyan’s Zennarde’s Sword, it was still a fine legendary item.

“You guys can handle this greatsword,” Nieyan said, handing it over to ShuiSe YanTou and others.

HongLian XieLuoDao and XieQi LinRan divided the remaining loot equally.

“Thanks, Boss Nieyan,” XieQi LinRan said, his tone mixed with complex emotions. Truthfully, he would have preferred not to take it.

HongLian XieLuoDao also bowed in gratitude.

“I’ll visit the cities of Wolflord and Night Demon in the future. I hope I won’t be unwelcome,” Nieyan smiled, looking at XieQi LinRan and HongLian XieLuoDao.

XieQi LinRan and HongLian XieLuoDao exchanged glances, both sensing the other’s inner concern.

“You’ll always be welcome,” XieQi LinRan said loudly with a smile.

“The gates of Hell will always be open to you, Boss Nieyan,” HongLian XieLuoDao awkwardly added with a grin, though he secretly hoped never to see Nieyan again.

Nieyan, of course, knew their true intentions, but he figured that even the guilds of Demon Knight World and Hell’s Gate wouldn’t dare provoke the Bull Tribe.

ShuiSe YanTou had already distributed the greatsword, deciding that CuiLan DaoGuang would hold it. CuiLan DaoGuang had a talent allowing him to wield two-handed swords with one hand, though he wouldn’t be able to use it until reaching level 150.

Nieyan looked at ShuiSe YanTou and the others. “We should go now.”

“Alright.”

The team gathered together.

“We’re off. See you all again,” Nieyan said, waving as he led the group toward the inner city of Bat’er.

“Safe travels, Boss Nieyan.”

XieQi LinRan and HongLian XieLuoDao watched Nieyan’s group disappear down the street, exchanging bitter smiles.

“Damn it, we’re so pathetic. We’ve been bullied by Angel Dominion all the time, and now we have to grovel before Nieyan,” HongLian XieLuoDao couldn’t help but curse. His fiery temper had been restrained for far too long.

“Let it go. The Bull Tribe is too powerful. Even Angel Dominion avoids them. What else can we do?” XieQi LinRan replied. Though they were also regional powerhouses, they dared not provoke Nieyan.

Members of the two guilds gradually dispersed, resuming their monster hunting and map exploration.

Nieyan and his team followed the central street of Bat’er City, gradually entering its inner district, where elite-level Sand Giants increased dramatically.

The inner city of Bat’er was filled with towering mage towers, some reaching thirty to forty yards high, others standing at ten to twenty yards. They were densely packed, resembling a thick forest, creating a magical landscape that was visually stunning.

A powerful magical aura filled the air.

“Magic damage boosted by 300%! The magical energy here is so dense,” XiaChong YuBing (XiaChong Ice) exclaimed. As a detail-oriented player, he quickly noticed something unusual.

Only now did the spellcasters in the group realize their own status—magic damage was indeed increased by 300%, and mana regeneration was significantly faster than usual.

A spellcaster’s magical abilities are affected by the environment. In areas with weak magical energy, their power would drop significantly, while in areas rich with magical energy, their magic attacks could be greatly enhanced. Normally, a 50% boost was considered excellent, but a 300% increase like this was extremely rare.

Why were there so many mage towers here?

Nieyan also wondered where the NPC named Mephisto was. He glanced into his inventory, where the Paternoster Hammer crackled with lightning and emitted sharp bursts of thunderous sound, appearing quite impressive.

Nieyan and his team continued clearing Sand Giants along the way as they advanced toward the city center, thoroughly searching every mage tower in the vicinity.

It took nearly an entire day just to explore a small portion of Bat’er City.

After passing through a dense cluster of towers, a small plaza appeared in the distance. At its center stood five stone pillars, each binding a massive Hell Hound with chains. These creatures stood three to four yards tall, each with two heads on their necks, their faces hideous and terrifying. Nearby stood several tall orcs clad in black robes, likely druids.

“Boss Nieyan, there are five level-150 elite Hell Hounds and ten level-160 elite Dark Druids,” Sun reported in the party chat.

The group had already scouted the area thoroughly.

“So many…” TangYao and others inhaled sharply upon hearing this—they had never encountered so many elites at once.

“Besides these elites, is there anything else around? If not, we should go around,” Nieyan suggested. Fighting so many elites at once was extremely challenging.

“Let’s check a bit more.”

“Brother Xiaorong, in the center of the five pillars, around the 5 o’clock direction, what’s that glowing golden object? I can’t see it clearly from here,” Sun asked in the party chat.

“I’ll get closer using stealth,” Xiaorong Bushi WeiWo (Smile Not for Me) said, carefully approaching the location.

Nieyan and the others watched the situation closely as the Dark Druids suddenly became agitated, gathering toward one direction, even transforming into bears and roaring loudly.

“What’s happening?” Nieyan anxiously asked in the party chat, worried something might have gone wrong.

“These Dark Druids have high perception. I almost got killed, but I managed to escape,” Xiaorong Bushi WeiWo exhaled in relief, having just barely made it out.

“Did you find anything?”

“It’s a chest, and it’s of very high rank. I estimate it’s at least legendary,” Xiaorong Bushi WeiWo replied.
