The headquarters of the Tribe of Gods guild.
The God King was watching the demigod Angud in front of him with trembling fear. Angud, the demigod, was in a rage because he had once again failed to find any trace of Nie Yan.
“I command you to find his exact location before tomorrow, or else you know what consequences await,” Angud said coldly, staring at the God King.
The God King felt bitterness in his heart. The notorious thief Nie Yan had already disappeared for quite some time. With the vast territory of the Moya tribe, how difficult it was to locate Nie Yan within just one day! Not to mention, even if he were found, Nie Yan could still escape through teleportation like he had done before. Yet, he couldn’t dare defy Angud’s orders. If he couldn’t find Nie Yan, he would face a great disaster. When Angud became furious, not only would he perish, but the entire Tribe of Gods would suffer as well.
“Respected Prince Angud, that fellow Nie Yan is as cunning as a rat; I truly cannot locate him,” the God King had barely finished speaking when he suddenly felt a binding force constricting his neck, lifting him off the ground. His feet dangled in the air as he struggled to breathe, nearly suffocating. This immense force was utterly irresistible. In panic, he shouted, “But I do have a way to make him come to you voluntarily!”
As soon as the God King finished speaking, he felt the pressure on his neck loosen. He fell to the ground, gasping for breath.
Angud cast a cold glance at the God King and said, “I hope your answer will satisfy me.”
After catching his breath, the God King continued, “Trying to find a rogue in the territory of the Moya tribe is like searching for a needle in the ocean. Moreover, he is from the Human Empire and could return to the Empire of Grilan anytime, making it even harder for us to find him. The only solution, as far as I know, is that he is the leader of a large guild in the Human Empire, commanding over a million members. If you start slaughtering his followers, he won’t be able to resist coming after you soon enough. Then you can easily obtain the Blade of Death.”
Angud remained silent for a moment before looking at the God King and saying, “If I find out you are deceiving me…”
“Respected Prince Angud, I would never dare deceive you. Here are all the documents I have gathered regarding that guild. However, for your safety, I advise against attacking their fortress directly. They possess very powerful and advanced crossbows and cannons.”
Angud took the documents from the God King. Unlike the wandering princess Aina, whose cognition had completely faded, Angud possessed a certain level of intelligence. He wouldn’t recklessly charge ahead like Aina, knowing full well the dangers and still charging foolishly to his demise. Thus, Angud was far more formidable than the wandering princess Aina.
“It seems I must pay a visit to the surface. I wonder how it has changed,” murmured Angud, walking away.
Watching Angud’s retreating figure, the God King’s fawning smile gradually turned cold and sinister. After all, Angud was merely an NPC who had ultimately become his tool. With his intelligence, Angud would surely give the Niuren tribe a major headache.
Time passed slowly. Nie Yan spent some time adapting to his current strength at his location, waiting a full six hours until all his skills cooled down.
He glanced into the distance. The deep tunnel resembled a dark beast with a gaping maw, ready to swallow anything that dared to enter.
Nie Yan walked forward, deeper and deeper into the darkness.
He didn’t know how long he had walked in the darkness when he unconsciously reached the tunnel’s end. The walls around him were all stone, and in the center lay a deep, bottomless pool.
Past experiences told him that something might be hidden beneath the water.
He approached the edge of the pool. Below was pitch black, revealing nothing.
He had no idea whether there was danger below.
After thinking for a moment, Nie Yan summoned his Shadow Assassin, deciding it was fine for it to go down first.
Receiving Nie Yan’s command, the Shadow Assassin leaped into the water with a splash.
Nie Yan watched as the Shadow Assassin dove into the water and disappeared beneath the surface. Suddenly, he realized he had completely lost contact with it; he couldn’t sense its position at all. The water remained still and calm, as if nothing had happened.
Nie Yan had no idea where the Shadow Assassin had gone, but he was certain it hadn’t been destroyed. If it had, there should have been a system notification.
This pool was filled with mystery and the unknown, evoking a sense of dread.
After hesitating for a long time, Nie Yan decided to jump in himself and take a look. It was a gamble, after all!
Since he had come this far, he had to take the risk!
Nie Yan organized his belongings, activated his underwater breathing ability, and leaped into the pool.
As he plunged into the water, the icy coldness sent a shiver through him, making his body feel stiff. His attributes dropped by 80%, even his cold resistance was significantly reduced, making him unable to withstand even this slight chill. He quickly drank a potion to resist the cold, which made him feel somewhat better.
Below, the depth still seemed endless. Nie Yan dove deeper into the water, swimming downward. As he descended, the temperature continued to drop.
After several minutes, Nie Yan had no idea how deep he had gone. The water pressure around him gave him a slight feeling of suffocation.
Something at the bottom seemed to be glowing. Nie Yan swam toward the source of the light.
He estimated that he was at least fifty to sixty yards below the surface when he suddenly felt something was wrong. It seemed something was approaching him, as if something was watching him from the shadows.
A system notification sounded.
System: Shadow Assassin has died.
Not good!
A strong sense of crisis surged from the depths of his heart. Nie Yan quickly moved his arms, swimming toward the surface. Just as he started swimming upward, something grabbed his right foot, pulling him downward. As he tried to kick it off with his left foot, he suddenly realized that his left foot was also seized.
No matter how hard Nie Yan struggled, his body continued to sink.
An invisible force gripped his throat, preventing him from breathing. A strong suffocating feeling made Nie Yan feel his strength rapidly draining away.
His body kept sinking. Nie Yan didn’t even know who his opponent was, and his body was completely out of control.
His underwater breathing ability failed. In a few seconds, he would suffocate and die!
As his body sank further, Nie Yan felt the light source below growing closer.
His consciousness began to blur. Nie Yan struggled to swim toward the light.
While struggling, Nie Yan’s right hand seemed to touch something. He immediately grabbed it tightly, but it was already too late. His consciousness plunged into a chaotic darkness.
This is the end, Nie Yan thought as his mind flashed with his final thought.
