Chapter 923: Summoning the Shadow Magic Wolf

Knowing that Wu Dao had located the Shadow Demon Wolf, Nie Yan became excited. A level 180 demonic lord was almost exactly what he wanted. Lords above level 180 were too powerful, and Nie Yan wasn’t confident he could tame them. However, facing a level 180 demonic lord, Nie Yan was full of confidence. He had defeated countless level 180 monsters before, including several demonic lords. Combined with the numerous skills unlocked by Guardian Angel Karina, Nie Yan felt assured of victory.

Taming the Shadow Demon Wolf into a mount using summoning skills wasn’t as difficult as defeating it. Nie Yan’s power of foresight could instill fear in the wolf, making it easier for Nie Yan to gradually subdue it.

“Have Wu Dao report its position,” Nie Yan said. Although the Bull Tribe, along with Angel Tyranny and Century Financial Group, were gathering forces and preparing for battle, the final showdown was still premature. Mobilizing millions of troops wasn’t easy. This war was unlike any previous one, as the sheer number of participants overwhelmed both sides, making it difficult to manage such massive forces effectively, thus requiring some coordination.

Darkwing Dragon executed a sharp dive sideways and flew overhead, heading southwest toward Abernathy Grasslands.

Darkness Jungle was filled with tall trees, entirely black as if painted with black ink. Sparse and scattered, the ground was covered with black swamps, occasionally revealing animal bones that had been corroded beyond recognition. Anyone entering this place could sense a heavy scent of blood. Few players dared to enter this jungle, for it was the territory of Shadow Wolves.

Shadow Wolves were level 180 monsters that often traveled in packs. They had strong territorial instincts and would attack anyone who intruded. Wu Dao and his team conducted a thorough investigation before locating the Shadow Demon Wolf.

After Wu Dao and his team discovered the level 180 demonic lord, five out of six of them were killed, leaving only Wu Dao to escape and immediately send a message to Guo Huai.

The five assassins who had died in battle resurrected at the graveyard and regrouped at the outskirts of Darkness Jungle, still shaken by what had just happened. The Shadow Demon Wolf was simply too fast for them to escape.

“Does Boss Nieyan really want to tame that creature as a mount? That seems extremely difficult,” said an assassin clad in silver-gray leather armor.

“That’s because it’s you. Boss Nieyan might not find it impossible.”

A level 180 demonic Shadow Demon Wolf—if Nieyan truly managed to tame it, it would be unimaginable. The wolf’s sheer speed alone was breathtaking.

“Boss Nieyan will be here soon. Stop standing around chatting and help me clear the nearby Shadow Wolves!” Wu Dao commanded solemnly.

Hearing Wu Dao’s words, the five of them quickly got to work. After all, they were considered elite members of the Bull Tribe’s assassin group. Individually, they could handle one or two Shadow Wolves, but in larger numbers, they could only flee in disarray.

A sudden gust of wind nearly blew them off their feet. A massive figure landed outside Darkness Jungle—it was Nie Yan riding his Darkwing Dragon. Nie Yan leapt down from the dragon’s back.

Wu Dao and his team immediately approached.

“Thanks for your hard work. Where is the Shadow Demon Wolf now?” Nie Yan asked.

“It’s inside. There are many Shadow Wolves nearby. We need to clear them out first, or else the taming process might be affected,” Wu Dao replied, briefly describing the surrounding area.

“Then let’s clear out the Shadow Wolves first,” Nie Yan nodded. He issued a command to Guardian Angel Karina, who flapped her wings and cast several blessings upon Wu Dao and his team.

The assassins were stunned as they saw their stats increase. Previously, they could barely handle two Shadow Wolves. But with Karina’s blessings, they could now handle five without any problem.

What powerful blessings!

The assassins glanced at Karina, perched on Nie Yan’s shoulder. They were quite familiar with her and couldn’t help but think that Nie Yan’s Guardian Angel Karina must be even stronger than Ya Zi’s Arcane Spirit.

They didn’t dare to speak further and quickly got to work clearing out the Shadow Wolves.

Nie Yan summoned his Golden Earth Dragon and Holy Knight Livers and began advancing steadily. Soon, the jungle was littered with corpses.

Just as the assassins finished off a dozen or so Shadow Wolves and looked back, they were stunned. Nie Yan had already ventured deep into Darkness Jungle, leaving a trail of Shadow Wolf corpses behind him.

They exchanged glances and quickly followed.

Reaching the heart of Darkness Jungle, they found an open plain covered in wild grass.

Nie Yan finally saw the Shadow Demon Wolf. It stood about three meters tall, its massive body even larger than Cui Can Dao Guang’s Kodu Beast. Its black fur was pure and unblemished, and its blue eyes glowed eerily. It bared its teeth, growling menacingly as it fixed its gaze on Nie Yan.

The Shadow Demon Wolf sensed something unusual in Nie Yan—an aura that made it feel fear.

Nie Yan walked steadily toward the wolf.

“Keep watch around. If any Shadow Wolves approach, eliminate them immediately. Don’t let them get close!” Wu Dao ordered through the team chat.

“Understood!”

The assassins quickly set up a perimeter.

Nie Yan drew closer to the Shadow Demon Wolf, which became increasingly agitated. Its eyes slowly turned red, ready to pounce at any moment.

Provoking the Shadow Demon Wolf would inevitably lead to a fight. Nie Yan had no intention of killing it—he simply wanted to recruit it as a pet.

Guardian Angel Karina hovered into the air, raised her staff, and cast a series of gentle energies onto the wolf. This was not a holy offensive spell, but a neutral calming spell.

The red glow in the wolf’s eyes gradually faded, replaced by a look of confusion.

Nie Yan continued approaching, taking a few more steps forward.

The wolf seemed to regain its senses, its eyes turning blood-red once again. It let out a warning growl, as if to say that if Nie Yan took another step, it would attack.

Watching Nie Yan inch closer to the Shadow Demon Wolf, the assassins outside felt their hearts pounding in their chests. Nie Yan was now just a few steps away from the wolf. If it suddenly attacked, Nie Yan might be killed in one blow!

They were tense but dared not speak, watching the scene unfold.

Guardian Angel Karina continued casting calming spells, but the wolf remained unmoved, its gaze locked on Nie Yan.

Nie Yan took another step forward.

His movement finally enraged the Shadow Demon Wolf, which let out a furious roar and lunged forward with its claws.

“Not good!” the assassins exclaimed in alarm, watching as the wolf’s sharp claws neared Nie Yan. In the next moment, Nie Yan would be struck down.

Among them, Wu Dao remained the calmest. He smiled slightly. His teammates hadn’t seen Nie Yan’s true strength yet. Nie Yan had already prepared himself—there was no way he would be defeated by the Shadow Demon Wolf!

As the wolf was about to strike, Nie Yan suddenly dodged, slipping past its claws. He delivered a sharp elbow to the wolf’s abdomen, then launched himself into the air with a kick, followed by a spine-breaker.

With a loud thud, the Shadow Demon Wolf was briefly disabled.

Nie Yan launched a series of rapid attacks—damages of 10,000, 20,000, 40,000, and 80,000 floated above the wolf’s head.

The wolf was controlled for a full fifteen seconds before stumbling to the ground. It quickly got back up, locking its gaze on Nie Yan, who stood proudly, and let out a low whimper.

The sudden turn of events left the five assassins outside in stunned disbelief. This was a level 180 demonic lord, yet Nie Yan had handled it like a dog with no chance to fight back. They rubbed their eyes—had they really seen that correctly?

After finishing his attacks, Nie Yan did not pursue further. He had Guardian Angel Karina cast a few calming spells to soothe the wolf before continuing his slow approach.

Nie Yan exuded the aura of a supreme emperor, his eyes glowing with a divine light, filled with strange magical power.

The Shadow Demon Wolf sensed Nie Yan’s terrifying presence and instinctively took a few steps back. A powerful pressure seemed to command it: submit and become his servant. However, as a formidable demonic creature, it resisted fiercely and refused to yield so easily.

Observing the wolf’s continued defiance, Nie Yan understood that subduing it would not be easy. He had plenty of time to play with it. Under the pressure of his foresight ability, the wolf could only unleash thirty percent of its power. Against such a weakened opponent, Nie Yan found it effortless to handle.

The wolf retreated a few more steps in fear, but seeing Nie Yan continue to approach, it was enraged once again. With a furious roar, it charged at Nie Yan.

Nie Yan moved swiftly. The wolf saw only a blur before losing sight of him. Then, with a thunderous boom, it was struck hard in the abdomen.

Another five-hit combo sent the wolf flying backward, barely managing to regain its footing.
